@Franklin321 I have an anterior placenta (clear of the birth canal) and my consultant wants me to have a planned section (2 previous sections) but hasn't mentioned anything about the position of the placenta or the previous scar...wondering if it's because it isn't low?

ChristmasJumpers · 10/01/2023 13:41

@Dreamingof3 I think it will be because its not low so they're not hoping it moves. Mine is anterior too but not covering the birth canal and there been no mention of it for me after my 20 week appointment

TeddyBeans · 10/01/2023 13:43

Just checked my BP and it's 137/83 😭 I've been sat down for the last 40 minutes so it's definitely a resting rate. It was 117/77 this morning!

As far as I know, only a problem if it’s low because that’s where they make the incision 😊

Franklin321 · 10/01/2023 13:53

@Dreamingof3 I imagine it’s because it’s not low 🤔 mine is currently (or was a few weeks ago) sat below/on my previous scar. If it’s already above it then I guess there is no worry of it being connected 🤞

Mrs2022 · 10/01/2023 14:32

Franklin321 · 10/01/2023 12:20

@Cuppasoupmonster Ive also got a low placenta, was still low at my 28 week scan so another scan at 33 weeks to see where it is and make a plan! It makes minimal difference to me as I’m having a planned section anyway but if it’s not moved the section will be more 37 weeks than my expected 39. The consultant did make comments about making sure it’s not fused to my previous section scar 😵‍💫 but I’m trying not to worry until I know more! Last year I had 2 friends with low placentas who had planned sections and both were calm and drama free so there’s hope even if it stays low!

hopefully yours will have moved at your next scan 🤞

I had my consultant appointment yesterday at 29 weeks. My placenta is low to the front and covering os. I have to go for an mri to make sure it hasn't attached to my previous scar either, between the consultant yesterday and Google I have really scared myself. 🙈

Babynum2 · 10/01/2023 14:55

@Cats23 I have to do it for life been on them for 8 years now! It gets easier and bruising is normal. While I'm pregnant I won't do it in my stomach I hate it even though they recommend it I do it in the top of my leg.

Cats23 · 10/01/2023 15:09

@Babynum2 Gosh, that's pretty harsh, I hope a tablet format is made before long

allthingssparkly · 10/01/2023 15:17

Have any ladies used these or similar post birth plus expert midwife - spritz for bits? Would you recommend? 😊

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 15:25

@allthingssparkly when I had DD I had a huuuge episiotomy and the best thing for it was a few drops of lavender oil and a chamomile teabag in the bath. It was a tip from a midwife and it worked really well. I think the issue with sprays (I tried those too) is that they keep the area quite damp and while it’s soothing in the moment doesn’t allow it to air out and heal more quickly. Lavender oil and teabags are also much cheaper!

allthingssparkly · 10/01/2023 15:34

Thank you @Cuppasoupmonster 😊 When I had stitches from my first birth, I was told to put lavender oil and milk in my baths to help ease and heal, which I did and it helped but I was just curious to see how these other things worked in comparison. They are also more expensive your right and I'd hate to buy something costly that may not work to its advantage 🙈

I have bought cooling pads as they have been recommended in pretty much every single video I've watched for hospital bag tips from non-FTMs.

It says on the ones I've got that you put it as a pad in your pants as you would a normal pad, and sit with it for 20min.

havanamama · 10/01/2023 15:51

I've had my midwife appointment and my bump is measuring exactly as it should for 32 weeks ☺️

Blondewave · 10/01/2023 15:56

Anyone moved house close to due date? We are moving currently & health visitor came today. I said we were moving and she immediately updated my new address on system and I got an immediate text from my GP saying I could no longer use thier services after 28 days as I’d moved out of area and I needed to get a new GP.

STRESS! I know my midwife well and the thought of moving to a different GP and midwife 3/4 weeks before my planned c section is just awful. I’m high risk due to prev pre eclampsia and I’m worried I’ll drop through the net and miss all my last midwife checks where blood pressure monitoring etc is cruical

My GP practice said that they will ask practice manager if I can stay till babies born but what an awful process to do to a woman close to giving birth.

Dreamingof3 · 10/01/2023 16:25

@Blondewave I was about 36 weeks with my first when we moved to a new area so had to change hospitals too 😅 it went pretty smoothly but I did call almost every day to make sure it was all getting sorted!

Hahah thanks. Fingers crossed. Luckily I’m staying at same hospital as I used to work there and wanted the familiarity but crazy that GPs just kick you out without prior warning when you’ve got all appointments booked in. Especially as I’m not moving too far x

Ubbee · 10/01/2023 18:50

Perexi · 10/01/2023 10:42

Ok cool thanks guy's that's good to know, I'm going to try and keep an eye today and see. I feel like some day's I feel lots but others not so much but if I'm busy it's harder to pay attention to them!

He definitely moves fairly regularly more so after anything sweet or when I'm sat down of an evening. I don't think the midwife helped when I said at the last appointment im unsure about patterns etc and she told me me and the baby are a team and we need to work together.... which is a lovely line but not sure it helps me 😂

This sounds very similar to what I would describe. How unhelpful of your MW!
I said the same to my MW and she said that sometimes ‘no pattern’ is the pattern (and in fact that she was the same with her 3 babies!). As long as you’re feeling movement frequently, if you sit for an hour you should feel something was her advice x

Amy1303 · 10/01/2023 19:00

Can anyone advise, been to midwife today for 28 week appointment (29+3) and she's booked urgent growth scan for tomorrow as concerned bump measuring very small.

This evening I haven't felt baby move but did earlier on in the day. Do you think it's best to call hospital or any tricks to get baby moving?

Xxx

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 19:01

Hope you’re okay Amy, so many worrying things in pregnancy aren’t there! I would try an icy cold drink and a lie down, if bubs doesn’t move in half an hour I would phone triage. Good luck for the scan!

I would ring MAC already, as baby shouldn't be made to move, but move themselves

TeddyBeans · 10/01/2023 19:34

@Amy1303 babies are usually most active in the evening. Give it an hour and then call if you still haven't felt anything

The tiny cot sheets I found are here! Gonna go try them on the mattress 🤞 they fit! I'll post a pic if they do 😁

They fit!! And they come with a towelling waterproof underlayer so the mattress is well and truly protected. I'm a happy lady 😁

Awwww ♥️ How many weeks are you Teddy? Thinking I’ll put the crib up at around 32 weeks (only 27+4 at the moment)

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 19:58

By the way jojo maman has a pretty good online sale for those ‘fancy’ outfits 😊 picked up 2 babygrows and a dungaree outfit yesterday, was about £25 for all three!
