@TeddyBeans

My sister had GD in her first pregnancy and Niece was born with a very large swollen belly it was all sugar. She was 9lb but a lot of that was due to the GD I think it's quit normal for them to have a big stomach.

Cats23 · 09/01/2023 22:55

Anybody else have to inject with Clexane before?
I have to do this daily into stomach for the next 18 weeks ( started last wed finishes 8 weeks postpatrum!)
I also have mild Von Willebrands disease- hence bruising prob.
Big bruise was last wed, smaller last Thurs, meaning 4x brewing at mo!
Not sure if my mild nausea is a result of injections now too!

Yup I did for the first three months of my pregnancy. Evil, stings like hell and leaves amazing bruises. Don't miss that one...

Cats23 · 09/01/2023 23:07

@Katdemar - Glad ( if thats correct word!) that bruising was same for you too, Stings for a good 5mins after for me, the actual injection doesnt hurt at all so thats good ( Glad Im overweight for this reason alone!)

@cats23 @Blondewave @iratepirate @LittleAcorn20 thanks all for your thoughts! Will look at that book

Morning

@TeddyBeans hopefully this week's scan will help alleviate some nerves, try not to worry too much I know easier said than done!

As this is my first I have no idea what is normal and what's not I feel like the who has the pattern of movement changed really stressful as I don't think I know his pattern, it's not always the same! It doesn't help that I'm a data analyst so maybe overthinking this .... I also had a dull stomach ache last night you know like you might get before a period, not cramps I'm assuming this is normal and Google seems to say it's just more stretching I'm probably worrying unnecessarily

Sorry for the rambling

TeddyBeans · 10/01/2023 09:31

@Perexi morning 😊

I am a chronic under-worrier, I'll have an initial few minutes freak out and then talk myself down - "well it only lasted a few seconds so it can't be that bad, right?" Sort of thing 🤣 she's still merrily wriggling away in there so she can't be too hard pressed for energy and nutrients!

Re movements: neither of mine have had a solid pattern. DS would be sporadic and have massive bursts of energy and then nothing for hours and DD has a good old wriggle in the morning and then again when I get in the bath in the evening or when I go to bed. The rest of the time is a bit hit and miss, she'll either keep me waiting or give me a little nudge here and there. Sometimes their pattern is to have no pattern which really isn't very useful when it's what you've been told to be mindful of

havanamama · 10/01/2023 09:50

@Perexi I wrote down in my phone notes every time I felt baby move the past 4 days and that helped me find the pattern or st least a range.

For example, I know maximum time between felt movements is 1.5h, I feel her about 15-20x a day, but typically about every 30min-1h.

So if I've not felt her for 1h, I don't freak out, and sure enough a few minutes later she does give me a signal.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 09:51

shy wave Please can I join your group? Baby boy due to be born in mid March. ‘Proper’ due date is 7th April but he will be born at 37 weeks ish due to a few medical bits and bobs. Also had placenta previa at the 20 week scan so anxiously waiting to see if it has moved (have a growth scan next week at 28+4 - fingers crossed!) so lots going on and not a happy pregnant lady right now! I was in the April group but they’ve moved to WhatsApp and it would be nice to be part of a group whose babies aren’t due weeks after mine! Thanks 💙

Choc2022 · 10/01/2023 09:56

I still don't feel 'regular' movements. Some movement in morning and some late night. I have a massive scar on stomach and its been suggested because of scar tissue I may not feel as much. Also i always have my feelings in the same place (rather than all over).

Im glad you're all getting organised and sharing notes and lists. I need to do a stock check of what I've brought, make a final list for things I need and things post birth if needed (e.g. breast pump if breastfeeding going ok) and actually buy and pack bags etc. Its all going so quick now, but equally seems to be dragging.

Room4onemore · 10/01/2023 09:58

I need to get some furniture to put baby things away! I’ve no idea what I have but I hav tons so probably massively overbought

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 09:59

I said to DH last night the days are long but the months are fast!

I got my breast pump pieces out last night, need to wash and sterilise and pack in a sealed bag for hospital (DD was also a 37 weeker so expecting another sleepy, hard to feed bub). Packing my hospital bag this weekend before the 28 week scan, just because I like to feel prepared and there’s a chance they could admit me for monitoring or similar.

Dreamingof3 · 10/01/2023 10:36

I'm fully expecting to get to my due date, or at least very close so I don't want to rush too much. But also, like to be prepared so slowly getting things together and want to have hospital bags done by about 35 weeks!

Perexi · 10/01/2023 10:42

Ok cool thanks guy's that's good to know, I'm going to try and keep an eye today and see. I feel like some day's I feel lots but others not so much but if I'm busy it's harder to pay attention to them!

He definitely moves fairly regularly more so after anything sweet or when I'm sat down of an evening. I don't think the midwife helped when I said at the last appointment im unsure about patterns etc and she told me me and the baby are a team and we need to work together.... which is a lovely line but not sure it helps me 😂

Yes I've been on them since week 8 and will be on them til 6 weeks after (blood clotting disorder) - it's not much fun is it 😂I didn't get much bruising until recently, I think because my stomach is more stretched now. I have found ice does help if you get it on the site straight after.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 11:08

@Perexi i happened to see you have a placenta previa when I was reading through the thread - so do I! Do you mind if I ask how it’s going? As you’re a few weeks ahead of me!

I do! I'm not sure how low/covering it was at 20 week's as they didn't go into specifics but I had a one off scan last week at 28 weeks and it's still low. They measured and there is only 10mm clearance right now there needs to be over 20mm apparently. Apparently most move and there's still time although she may have just said that!

I'm quite relaxed about it though, if I need a c section I'm ok with that whatever they think best really. My mum actually had it with me so it wasn't a huge surprise, her's did move.

Is yours just low or fully covering do you know? I wish I knew what mine was initially so I knew if it's moved or not so far

havanamama · 10/01/2023 11:37

I ended up ordering the Tena pull on incontinence pants after all, watched some more YouTube hospital bag videos and they seem to be a staple.

I think I'm only missing snacks, a sports lid water bottle, dirty laundry bags, paracetamol, and spritz for bits left to buy/pack. 🙌

I had clexane post giving birth, and I will have them again now too.

I always injected into my upper legs/thighs. I didn’t get any bruise.

for some reason injecting into belly gives me the creeps, especially if I were pregnant.

I was alternating legs, and after about a few days or a week I didn’t feel any pain at all.

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 11:48

That’s promising Perexi is it anterior do you know? From my (extensive) reading there’s every chance yours will be fine for vaginal delivery, if it’s already 1cm clear. Mine is anterior with the bottom part covering the cervix - so not quite a ‘complete’ previa, I think they call it stage 3 😬 Obstetrician said she’s confident it’ll move but I haven’t had the best luck in this pregnancy so feeling negative. The thought of a complicated CS scares the willies out of me (straightforward would be fine). I had a VB with DD so was hoping to limit the damage to one area however…

I don't, they haven't said. From what I have read it's more likely to move than not! Something like 8 out of 10 move naturally but there's also nothing I can do to influence this so it's out of my hands so worrying about it won't help in my head.

I'm more worried about an emergency section - planned I feel ok about! Although birth is something I'm very nervous about I keep thinking what if I can't do it even though I know million's of women have done it it's just an irrational fear I guess

Franklin321 · 10/01/2023 12:20

@Cuppasoupmonster Ive also got a low placenta, was still low at my 28 week scan so another scan at 33 weeks to see where it is and make a plan! It makes minimal difference to me as I’m having a planned section anyway but if it’s not moved the section will be more 37 weeks than my expected 39. The consultant did make comments about making sure it’s not fused to my previous section scar 😵‍💫 but I’m trying not to worry until I know more! Last year I had 2 friends with low placentas who had planned sections and both were calm and drama free so there’s hope even if it stays low!

hopefully yours will have moved at your next scan 🤞

Cuppasoupmonster · 10/01/2023 12:31

Is it your first @Perexi ? You’re absolutely right - worrying achieves zero and spoils the pregnancy. I really want to make the most of the final 10 weeks after hypermesis, a dodgy 20 week scan and some other hairy moments so whatever the outcome of the scan I’m going to try my best to stay stress free.

From my research, 90% of low/covering placentas move by 34 weeks, but that includes both types - for low it’s more like 97% and for covering 85%, although more likely to move either way if it’s anterior and no previous c-section. Either way the odds are good, it’s just hard to know until the eleventh hour as that’s when the womb does the most stretching 😖

@Franklin321 fingers crossed for you, and great that your friends C sections went smoothly. Problem with the internet is it’s all too easy to find horror stories!
