I'm going to have to give in and get a prescription for my heartburn. I'm fine during the day but it's the only thing waking me up at night so would rather sleep well than get up for something preventable. Tried gaviscon last night and I still find it to be to grimmest thing in the universe so that's not an option and Rennies just don't do it for me anymore either 😕

@havanamama when you put it like that, it's only 32 days until I'm full term (37 weeks) which is honestly terrifying 😂 I'm ready for her to make her appearance but the whole pregnancy just seems to be rocketing along and dragging me along for the ride!

Been binge watching one born and I've cried so many times. It makes me feel a bit sad that I was so exhausted from my own labour that I didn't cry when mini man made his appearance. I hope I'm not so out of it for DD's arrival

Someone asked if anyone is sick of being pregnant - I'm not but I do feel like I would be happy to give birth at 37 weeks full term mark as it's definitely a strain on the body.

I've been ill for about 1.5 months of these 7 months, had nausea for 2 months, threw up 1x, had to go to MAC 2x for reduced movements, had 1 bleeding episode, and had to drink aspirin every evening since 12 weeks, and have back pain and PGP occasionally.

However, I had imagined pregnancy would be much harder, like constant throwing up and hormonal mood swings, so I'm grateful for the journey I've had.

@TeddyBeans ive been on omeprazole for a few weeks now and found it’s made a massive difference! Hope it’s the same for you 🤞

Deut28 · 05/01/2023 11:18

@TeddyBeans I also take omeprazole for heartburn. It's made such a difference to me. Highly recommended if you're suffering.

Rose429 · 05/01/2023 11:19

I’m looking into swaddle blankets and there’re so many different terms! Was given 2 cellular blankets and 1 large muslin blanket already so which one should I buy more of that’s better for swaddling?

TeddyBeans · 05/01/2023 11:44

@Rose429 highly recommend velcro swaddle wraps. They can't wriggle out of them like they can with a standard blanket. I got some for DS and they were a game changer!

Thanks ladies! Waiting for GP to get back to me 🤞

Might be a stupid question, but are swaddle blankets needed if we have zip up sleeping bags and bodysuits with integrated mittens?

Cats23 · 05/01/2023 12:19

Yes trying to be positive an be glad of each day, I am 28weeks only though ( DD is 27th March) My big milestone was 27 weeks so thats good and reassuring but 37 weeks full term for me is only 9 weeks so not so bad!
Gosh those closer to 37, exciting!!!!
Hope Dr can perscribe for heart burn, Ive only had to take a few gavoscon so not so bad, My DSIL suffered terribly throughout though, perscribed meds ect didnt help so much but I hope it does for you

TeddyBeans · 05/01/2023 12:25

@havanamama having their arms 'pinned' to their body stops their startle reflex which is usually what wakes them up when they're very little (other than needing food or pooping). Some babies don't startle very easily and are fine without swaddling but others it helps a lot 😊

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 05/01/2023 12:35

@havanamama I've never swaddled so can't advise much but I do think it's one of those things that depends a lot on the baby. I'd maybe get 1 or 2 swaddle things and you can always get more if you find they work for you. Equally, you can just swaddle with regular blankets (just be mindful of temps/layers)

Ahh thank you! That make sense.

How do you know what blanket to go for though? The sleeping bags have the tog system, but none of the muslins or cellular blankets I've got don't have any indicators for what temperatures they are meant.

That's what makes using them a bit tricker, you have to be the judge of their temperature!

I'm personally just sticking with sleeping bags as I know what toys for what temperature 😂

havanamama · 05/01/2023 13:18

@Dreamingof3 haha I got some hand me down blankets but I think I'll just use them as a cover for any contact naps and stick to sleeping bags too for when baby sleeps in her cot.

Dreamingof3 · 05/01/2023 13:27

@havanamama sounds like a good plan. This is my third and I'm still nervous about over heating! I tend to lean towards keeping them cooler and can always add a layer if they get cold

Dreamingof3 · 05/01/2023 13:33

On a different subject....is anyone starting to doubt themselves over the birth?

Background, baby 1 failed induction, emergency section at 41+2 10lb5. Baby 2 planned section, gd, 39+1 7lb7
My consultant wants me to have another planned section (and get sterilised at the same time!) But has agreed to book that for 40+1 to give me time to go into spontaneous labour (not much time imo!) Absolutely will not offer induction beyond sweeps at 39 weeks, that's fine as I don't want to be induced. I'd really love a vbac, but equally I'm terrified of needing another emergency section. Also, having never gone into labour naturally I worry it just won't happen, especially by 40 weeks. Also, I'm really struggling with SPD already and the thought of going over is stressing me out. So now I'm starting to wonder whether I just agree to bring the section forward and see if they'll even do it for 38-39 weeks...
Would love any views on it all!

Katdemar · 05/01/2023 13:34

From what I've seen the sleeping bags can only be used when baby hits a certain weight (4kg, I think), unless I've missed a newborn version or could be brand specific (I was looking at the Snuz version). So I'm assuming that blankets or swaddles would have to used in the v early days?

havanamama · 05/01/2023 14:06

@Katdemar hmm, my sleep bags are from John Lewis and only say 0-6 months.

I did see on the UK Lullaby Trust site that they are from 8.8lbs or 4kg.
🤔

If I remember correctly every layer is equivalent to 1 tog so nappy would be 1 vest would be 1, sleepsuit would be 1 and blanket would be 1. I'll see if I can find an infographic on it cuz I might be wrong 😬 just gotta go pick up DS from school so might be a while but I'll get back to you!

Ive always just used blanket from newborn to 6months- Now 19,15,7,5 . Then a sleeping grow bag .
Mine were aways dressed in vest ( long sleeve in winter) Babygrow, mittens-socks as newborn with a thin-ish blanket over

ChristmasJumpers · 05/01/2023 15:58

Has anyone found themselves to be extra clumsy? I just hoovered the floor, then took 5 whole minutes to wrap the wire back up as I kept tangling it. Then had to get it back out again 2 minutes later as I knocked over a tub of bisto granules while trying to get something else from the kitchen cupboard 😖
I have dropped a lot of things today too!

LittleAcorn20 · 05/01/2023 16:24

@Blondewave sorry I missed your message yday. I am glad I'm not alone feeling this strange feeling towards a second on the way. I'm sorry your first labour was so tough. Mine was ok, but like you I feel more apprehensive for the newborn days. DD is 2.5 and still doesn't sleep through now, she comes in to my bed without fail at around 2/3am every night. She's having a new room/bed next week which'll make it easier for DH to go get in with her I hope, because I much as it'd be nice once or twice, having baby in the next to me waking for milk and her kicking me in bed on the other side would end in very little sleep 😂 you're right by just thinking the sleep troubles (however long they last) are very worth it. And you adapt and adjust don't you to the sleep part?

@havanamama I had these for my daughter (they've changed slightly). She didn't like being swaddled, but I have kept hold of them so I'll see if this baby likes it www.amazon.co.uk/Company-Bennie-Hip-healthy-Groswaddle-Months/dp/B07KRN2HDV/ref=asc_df_B07KRN2HDV/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309998134735&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2320488219050108753&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007011&hvtargid=pla-666646910046&psc=1
