Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@LMM91x mine took ages as well, there must be loads of pregnant people atm🤣

PumpkinEverything · 30/12/2022 10:49

I self referred two weeks ago and have heard nothing about a booking appointment or scan. It says if you don’t hear back by 11 weeks then to ring the number on the form. Which is what I imagine I’ll be doing 😂 last time I only got my scan letter about a week before, so I’m expecting the same this time!

Sjw30 · 30/12/2022 11:06

@LMM91x I’m with you on that one! It really worries me as it’s been my only constant symptom really, along with wanting to eat all the time and exhaustion. I think I said this before but I definitely had more symptoms in the first week than I do now. However, my boobs will feel normal for a little while then bam! I’ve woken myself up in the night cos I’ve laid on my stomach and I’m in pain with my boobs 🤦‍♀️

LMM91x · 30/12/2022 11:48

@Sjw30 gosh it’s just such a worrying time isn’t it..wish I could bloody relax !! I cannot do this for 9 months I’ll tell you that 🤣🤣

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/12/2022 11:48

I've had my 12 week scan date come through for February but no information on my booking appointment as of yet.

I had an early scan today, measuring at about 6 weeks (I thought I was 6+3 so about right) m, heart beat could be seen. So all looks well. Cyst on my ovary still lurking though 🙄 just grateful it wasn't ectopic.

Cat1424 · 30/12/2022 11:52

@Wrenegade Congratulations! I’m 7+6 according to LMP so not too far off. I haven’t heard from my MW yet either, mine said I should hear in 3 weeks and that was on 14th December so if I haven’t heard next week I’m going to chase up. Seems to change depending on where you live.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling so sick! My nausea has been on and off but very slight until this morning when I was actually sick and have felt sick since! It’s no fun!

ChloeN · 30/12/2022 11:54

@MinnieFirstTimeMum glad all looked good on your scan, must be such a relief ☺️

Havanalily1806 · 30/12/2022 11:59

Congratulations @Wrenegade hope the sickness eases off for you soon!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations on the early scan, that must be reassuring for you. I'm 6+1 today, we've got a scan booked for 8+3, feels so long away still

The nausea has hit today.... hoping it doesn't escalate to anything else 🤞🏽

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/12/2022 12:04

Thank you @ChloeN @Havanalily1806

All of you with nausea/sickness I hope it eases for you all 🤞🏻

Sjw30 · 30/12/2022 12:21

@LMM91x I know right!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Glad your scan went well!

Butterflies12 · 30/12/2022 13:49

Hiya everyone,
So a cause for my weeks of spotting has been identified... The GP just called and has told me I've got BV (bacterial vaginosis) and wants me to take antibiotics - metronidazole or clindamycin. I am absolutely petrified of taking antibiotics in my first trimester. She's written me a prescription for clindamycin gel and she said she strongly recommends I take it. I have treated BV in the past with balance activ gel and it's worked but she said there's no medical evidence for this working so doesn't recommend it. I will be 12 weeks in 2 weeks time and asked her if I could wait until I treat but she said she doesn't recommend that either.. I don't know what to do... Any thoughts?

ChloeN · 30/12/2022 13:55

@Butterflies12 thats a hard one, could having BV cause more problems than taking the antibiotics could? Are the antibiotics not recommended for pregnancy? Sorry I’m clueless!

Butterflies12 · 30/12/2022 14:24

@ChloeN from what the GP said, it seems more of a problem if you have it in the 3rd trimester but some evidence it can cause problems in the second. The antibiotics are recommended as safe by the NHS but the FDC in the states says to definitely not use in the first trimester. And there are studies going both ways for both metronidazole and clindamycin. I just spoke to my midwife and she said do what I feel comfortable with... I don't know what I feel comfortable with though!!!

DesertSnow · 30/12/2022 14:57

Thanks for the new thread @AnnieApple123 wonder how many we'll get through before August rolls round?

@jollydollyirl I'm continuing to run - took a break when it was icy as didn't want to slip. But basically just been listening to my body. Pace is undoubtedly a bit slower, but as @CityKity said, I'm not comparing it to pre-pregnancy. Apparently if you keep up running, later on the baby quite likes the motion and finds it comforting.

@Loudmouth1 poor you, that sounds so horrid! I've only been sick a handful of times in total. Hopefully they'll be able to do something for you.

@LMM91x as others have said, symptoms definitely fluctuate, so try not to worry to much. All normal.

@Cat1424 I try munching on a few crisps when nausea gets bad and it seems to wane a bit.

Hi and congrats @Wrenegade. Sorry to hear you're also struggling with sickness and hope it eases for you soon.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congrats on the positive scan! I also have a cyst that was flagged at my private scan.

@Butterflies12 sorry I have no practical help to offer, but sending sympathy. Glad spotting isn't a problem with baby itself though.

Gosh I'm just dreading going back to work with this fatigue and morning sickness. Also have an NYE party to get through tomorrow without arousing suspicions...

sally16 · 30/12/2022 14:59

You've all broken me with salt and vinegar Pringles and now my tongues sore 🤣
Spent my night shift hugging a tube of them 😅

sally16 · 30/12/2022 15:01

@Butterflies12 I think with BV you need to try and weigh up the long term effect risks of that in first trimester against the antibiotics unfortunately :(

I'd probably just take the antibiotics if they are cleared by the hosp but then I don't even want to take paracetamol or my anti anxiety medicine so it's a hard choice :( any natural remedies for BV safe in preganncy? Like with thrust natural yoghurt helps kinda thing? Xx

marleyandme · 30/12/2022 15:57

Thread 4 already!
Glad I've got some beige food lovers out there too, it's all I can stomach these days. That and ice cold cans of Pepsi for some unknown reason, but I am limiting them to 1 every few days as the caffeine and sugar probably isn't the best.
I've gone off coffee too which is so unlike me, I normally need one cup first thing in the morning 😂
I couldn't stop eating anything and everything yesterday and now I'm back to nausea and plain foods today 😩

ChloeN · 30/12/2022 16:14

@DesertSnow about 50 threads at this rate 🤣🤣

Butterflies12 · 30/12/2022 16:31

Thank you @DesertSnow
@sally16 there is the natural option of balance activ gel which is safe for use in pregnancy but the GP said she didn't want me to use it and strongly recommends antibiotics. The antibiotics she has given me say this on the patient info leaflet:
"There has been no experience to date with the use of Metrogel in pregnant patients. In case of oral administration, metronidazole crosses the placental barrier and enters foetal circulation rapidly. No foetotoxicity was observed after oral metronidazole in either rats or mice. However because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response and since oral metronidazole has been shown to be a carcinogen in some rodents this drug should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed."

I think my anxiety is too high to risk the antibiotics in the first trimester. I want to try and treat it naturally like I have before when I haven't been pregnant and if it doesn't work then it's only 2 weeks until I'm in my second trimester where things are safer according to my midwife. I just said to my aunt that it's horrible having to be responsible for such a decision and she said well get used to that!

Mulner88 · 30/12/2022 16:34

@ChloeN how did your meal go last night? I just thought as my DH has booked a New Years Day meal but it's in the evening when I feel my worst 🙈 bless him, eating out is normally my favourite thing to do which is why he booked, but at the moment it's something I dread 😂

Createcomet · 30/12/2022 16:43

jollydollyirl · 29/12/2022 21:45

Ladies, any of you who enjoy running, any advice? I haven’t run since we found out we were expecting and I really miss it! Scared to get back out incase I do some sort of damage. Would you advise reducing speed/distance?

I run, but haven't since Tues last week. I'm ridiculously tired, very nauseas and feeling very drained. I'd love to go for a run, but I just don't think I can even attempt it until the fatigue and dizziness stops.
When I do, I won't be tracking them. And to be honest I don't even care if I go back on the couch to 5k plan for a while for ease.

LS888 · 30/12/2022 16:59

My scan went well today so thought I’d give you ladies an update. We saw a little heartbeat and arms and legs starting to grow. Measuring exactly as I thought due to ovulating later than normal - I’m 8weeks 5 days. Only 1 day out based on my own calculations. I had to have an internal scan due to having a tilted uterus - they could see a heartbeat but not a clear image. My heart was racing whilst I was waiting for them to see the baby but in the end the internal one was worth it. ❤️

August Due Date Crew (Thread 4)
LMM91x · 30/12/2022 17:10

@LS888 eeeek amazing !!!❤️❤️ i know that feeling when they’re getting the internal ready time goes so slow🤣

LS888 · 30/12/2022 17:17

@LMM91x I had to have an internal one with my mmc and I was just praying it was going to be positive news. But alarm bells start ringing! She did say straight away that she could see the heartbeat. But until you have seen it for yourself it’s so hard to believe! So pleased today has gone well and less than 3 weeks until the NHS scan.

TheBirdintheCave · 30/12/2022 17:25

Hi all. I know no one wants me here but I'm not staying so don't worry :)

I just thought I'd pop back in to let you all know that my second missed miscarriage was confirmed this morning as I predicted. I really didn't want to be right but sadly I was. I'm absolutely devastated. I wanted this baby so much :(

I wish you all happy and successful ongoing pregnancies <3
