Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@ChloeN I’m just having the one scan at 12 weeks which will be private as I’m doing NIPT (I’m not going to do an NHS one as well). So moving it is just a question of ringing them up and checking availability.

I’m afraid I was a real procrastinator over scans in my first pregnancy too. I put it the first one off until 13+2 which actually wasn’t very sensible as I was measuring 10 days ahead so missed the window for getting a NT measurement.

Ah I had my NIPT result back today, but there wasn't enough feral DNA in the sample.
Dr advised me to go back in two weeks so that he can scan again and take another sample. I have my NHS scan in the meantime which he has now advised me to do. I had the NIPT at 10 weeks so that I wouldn't have a delay - and now I have to wait even longer!

overwork · 11/01/2023 17:00

Fetal! Fetal - there was no feral DNA in my sample. Well atleast I assume there wasn't Grin

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 17:04

@overwork what does that mean, they can’t do the tests at all?

@AnnieApple123 I feel like you need to go for it🙉 was it nicer though being later on last time? X

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 17:17

@overwork Oh how frustrating. I’ve heard of that happening quite often if NIPT is done early but it’s usually fine if repeated later on. Fingers crossed for your next go.

@ChloeN I reckon you’re right, I’m just struggling to do it. I’m thinking next Thursday which will be 12+3 would be reasonable (they can do the NT measurement up to 14 weeks so even if I were 10 days ahead again they could do it).

I'm so jealous of all you ladies whose symptoms are starting to ease a bit! I'm 11 + 4 and still just getting constant nausea, every second of the day. 12 week scan on Monday, this week is dragging!

Sorry to hear you're having some spotting @LMM91x but glad ladies on here have been reassuring with their experiences.

@overwork oh that's frustrating, though your typo/autocorrect gave me my first laugh of the day!

@MidnightSunshine12 congrats on the scan! And exciting you're measuring further ahead than you thought!

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 17:30

Sorry you’re struggling so @DesertSnow . I’m just a day or two behind you and can’t say I’ve noticed a dramatic improvement yet either.

OP posts:
overwork · 11/01/2023 17:36

Ah I'm glad I gave you a smile!
@ChloeN the Dr initially advised that I just went for the NHS scan for dating, but to not have combined screening. Because if the combined screening came back high chance (which is I think is possible, based on my age), but the NIPT test came back low chance, it would cause unnecessary concern. He has now advised that I have combined screening, because if the NIPT fails a second time, I wouldn't have had any screening at all.
So there's still time! It's just a longer wait that's all.

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 17:42

@AnnieApple123 it’s so difficult, I really want to go to my 12 week scan but at the same time I don’t, it’s like you know you should but you’d rather avoid it🤣 mines next Friday so we can be in it together!

@overwork oh yes I get you now! So you’re going to have the standard tests that everyone has with their 12 week scan just in case? X

overwork · 11/01/2023 17:47

Yes exactly that.

DesertSnow · 11/01/2023 18:23

Thanks @AnnieApple123, fingers crossed things improve for us both soon. I have mixed feelings about the 12 week scan - on the one hand I'm counting down the days, but on the other I'm incredibly anxious that it will show something wrong. I imagine lots are the same.

DesertSnow · 11/01/2023 18:24

Also is anyone else Rhesus negative? They've asked me to come back in for another blood test to test blood type of baby, but not sure how this test will be any different...

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 18:25

@DesertSnow yep me! I have no idea how it’s different but mine is the same time as my 12 week scan, no doubt the baby will positive 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 18:44

@ChloeN yes this is exactly how I feel too. It will be nice to be in it together. At least you e had yours at 10 weeks though so your chances all being well are very, very high.

OP posts:
AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 18:48

@DesertSnow if the baby is also negative that will mean no extra monitoring or treatment required for you. Fingers crossed.

OP posts:
ChloeN · 11/01/2023 18:59

@AnnieApple123 ill be on here first thing next Thursday morning making sure you’re going 🤣 did you feel the same for your 20 week and any other scans you had last time? I think I’ll feel the same for every one

Amme18 · 11/01/2023 19:11

@ChloeN i felt like it for my 12 week, I couldn’t wait for it but was also terrified it was going to be bad news. After that I worried less. I had so many scans after 20 weeks too because my placenta was low, so was good to constantly be checking in with baby 😅 I’ll be sad this time if I only need to have 2! Xx

DesertSnow · 11/01/2023 19:40

@ChloeN I'm just confused as to how they will be able to tell - in my head I'm thinking they already tested my blood and it was negative, if they're just repeating the same test won't it just show the same result? (Suggesting baby is also negative). But maybe it's about how far along you are in the pregnancy? Had the last one at 10 + 4, will be 12 + 2 this time so doesn't feel like much of a progression but maybe it is! (Mine will also be done at my 12 week scan on Monday).

@AnnieApple123 thank you, fingers crossed baby is negative too!

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 19:47

@DesertSnow maybe it’s a specific test they do that has to be sent elsewhere that’s why it’s seperate?🤣

@Amme18 hopefully once I’ve had my 12 week I’ll feel better then! Im going to have a 16 week so hopefully I’ll be excited for that one☺️

SnowL2021 · 11/01/2023 20:00

@DesertSnow I’m just behind you (11 weeks, 1 day) and feel like my nausea is at its peak 🤢 I’m also rhesus negative - when I was pregnant with my son they hadn’t implemented the blood testing system yet so I had to have two injections (one in late pregnancy, one after the birth)… they weren’t bad at all so it didn’t really feel like a big deal being Rh neg x

Amme18 · 11/01/2023 20:02

@ChloeN yes and then no long after your 16 you’ll start to feel movement which helps massively!

BCxx · 11/01/2023 20:11

@DesertSnow yeah I’m rhesus negative too, I remember being soooo anxious about every little thing last time and thought great, just my luck that I have that as well! But it appears an awful lot of people are as one of my closest friend was the same, as well as quite a few people I’ve watched on YouTube and Mrs Hinch 🤣 We don’t get that blood test here though so you’re lucky if you can get that you might by-pass anything else needing to be done. I automatically get the anti-D injection at 28 weeks and if this baby is the same as my son I’ll need it when they’re born too 🙄 I think it is a special test that goes somewhere that nhs Scotland clearly haven’t have access to yet!

BCxx · 11/01/2023 20:14

This thread is almost full.. I have so many pages to catch up on still 🙈 Slightly concerned that I was gagging and actually sick once at 6/7 weeks but now into my 8th week and really not feeling sick, I’m just really hungry. I don’t know if I’m just managing it much better than last time and it was the hunger causing the sickness but it is slightly worrying me that I seem to feel not that bad and was completely wiped out at this point last time. My boobs are huge and rock hard so that’s the only promising sign 😂

Bec3421 · 11/01/2023 20:20

Is anyone else struggling with this god awful flu?!

Im really struggling today, we had an early scan yesterday and was so lovely to see the heartbeat, think we were both a bit shellshocked.

I’ve had flu like symptoms for weeks now and I rang 111 and ended up going to A&E in the night as it’s awful and they've said it’s suspected pneumonia so I’ve got antibiotics and an inhaler.

Im so worried that its doing damage even though the scan was okay, I am praying these antibiotics kick in soon as I need to feel well enough to just deal with the pregnancy symptoms!!

xxx

marleyandme · 11/01/2023 21:02

@DesertSnow yes I'm rhesus negative too! Also got told I'll have a blood test although a bit further down the line I think for them to do the same and test baby's blood group to see if it's positive or negative. 15% of people are rhesus negative so it's quite common, just means more blood tests and potentially injections 😂
Can't believe we've filled a thread already!
