Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@LMM91x when I was pregnant with DS I went for a scan at 10 weeks and was told I had some old blood sitting from implantation which I might see at some point as brown discharge and it was nothing to worry about! So going by time frames it's maybe just that! :) I never seen it in the end/noticed but it made me feel better knowing if I did it was just that :) xx

Cat1424 · 11/01/2023 12:02

I’m 9 weeks today and it’s the worst I’ve felt so far. Nausea was peak this morning, I’m shattered and I can’t concentrate on anyway, feel like I’m in a constant daze! I’ve also noticed if I don’t eat on time I start to feel really funny, like I need a lie down. Hoping to get this second burst of energy soon! My 12 week scan is 3 weeks today and counting down the days, the not knowing is killing me!

LMM91x · 11/01/2023 12:09

Ahhh ok - thanks all! I’m having similar in terms of brown when wipe maybe a slight pink if im really looking for it. Bloody minefield. Will have to try and calm down - can’t focus at work at all :(

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 12:20

@LMM91x if you’re worried ring epu if that’s an option where you live, honestly if I had any spotting I would be straight on the phone even though it’s so common, but I think that’s only because I’ve been to epu before and they told me to call back any time!

SnowL2021 · 11/01/2023 12:22

@LMM91x I had brown discharge for a day and a half around nine weeks. Was really nervous at the time, but a scan showed everything was fine. Can completely empathise with how you’re feeling, it’s so hard to concentrate on anything else. As others have said, it is so common and the fact it’s brown is a good sign x

Sjw30 · 11/01/2023 12:24

@LMM91x I’ve had some brown spotting before, are you having any cramps? I had some cramping too so I phoned a midwife for some advice then went for a scan. I do believe brown spotting can be normal but if you are worried definitely ring for some advice 💗

MidnightSunshine12 · 11/01/2023 12:33

@LMM91x I had brown spotting/discharge with a bit of pink. It lasted around 5 days on and off. I had a private scan at the time which was reassuring but had convinced myself something must have gone wrong that week before my scan today. Luckily was nothing to worry about. So hard not to worry though and even more annoying when people tell you not to worry!

marleyandme · 11/01/2023 12:47

@jollydollyirl this is the video, it is aimed at kids 😂 but turns out that was what I needed!

Congratulations @MidnightSunshine12 on your scan!

Glad to hear some of us are heading out of the woods with the symptoms, I'm definitely feeling like I've got less food aversions now which is nice. I've eaten so much though I feel massive and can't work out whether it's bloat, too much food or the start of a bump 😂 either way I'll take it!

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 12:50

@LMM91x I’m another who’s had both pink and brown spotting. I’ve called for advice a few times and it’s always been reassuring. xx

DS was due back at Tumble Tots today but didn’t want to go. I didn’t have the energy to argue with him so we didn’t. I’m really regretting it now though as he’s been bouncing off the walls all morning.

Thanks ladiesss - spoke to someone and they said don’t panic basically - keep an eye and ring back if it gets heavier / red . I really didnt want to go for a private scan again but might cave by the weekend if i’ve still not got a date for the 12 week one!xxxxz

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 13:11

@LMM91x That’s pretty much what I’ve always been told too. I can definitely understand not wanting to go for a second early scan.

AnnieApple123 · 09/01/2023 21:29

Those doing NIPT, will you find out the gender this early? I’m not sure I’m ready.

Yes. We did the first time, but we’ll probably keep it to ourselves this time

BananaBread3 · 11/01/2023 13:39

UsernameNotPresent · 09/01/2023 21:46

@AnnieApple123 yes, I will be finding out the gender. I am desperate to know so I can mentally prepare myself, and more importantly start thinking of the names.

@CityKity re bump, most of it is probably wind at this point 😬 At 12 weeks uterus is just at the level of the public bone, and at 20 weeks at the level of bellybutton. Anything before 12 weeks is just slightly displaced giblets with gas in them. Sexy, I know.

@BCxx and @sally16 I am right there with you wrangling toddlers. My DS needs to start dropping his afternoon nap (Nooooo!) as bedtimes are becoming a battle. Just usual things like wrestling him into his PJs, and getting him dressed in the morning really take it out of me more than it really ought to.

I started cutting his hair when he was about 8 weeks old, and he has been getting regular haircuts with a clipper since (DH has mastered a technique now!). Now at just over 2, he quite enjoys getting his 2 monthly trims at the 'kitchen barber shop' 😂

My toddler has been the same. Do you think it’s because they know another baby is coming?

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 14:23

@LMM91x glad you’ve got through to someone, hoepfully it’s just a bit of old blood making it’s way out! I’ve also heard the forming of the placenta can cause a bit of a bleed also xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 11/01/2023 14:30

@LMM91x not sure if this helps but I've had a scan since the spotting and all looked okay. So I am trying to be chill about it and trust the last scan.
But I agree it is a minefield and hard not to panic when you don't know what is happening in there.

LMM91x · 11/01/2023 14:34

Yeah I mean ultimately I need to breathe 🤣. Worrying will not change anything and at this stage what i’m experiencing is v normal!! xxx

thanks everyone❤️

nadsc · 11/01/2023 14:45

@LMM91x In my last pregnancy I had brown spotting when I was around 6 weeks and then at 11 weeks I had a bleed. Don’t worry too much. Brown tends to be old blood and nothing to worry about - easier said than done I know! Btw all
was good and I now have a 13 month old

sally16 · 11/01/2023 15:08

Why do men takes days off when the kids are at nursery.. like.. this my time to sleep after nightshift, get our ma house and take your days off when I need help 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 15:11

Oh @sally16 thats so frustrating. I was surprised to hear so many want to work nights. I would have thought that would be a mess popular option. Is there hebetaste less to do overnight?

I’m getting ‘ectopic’ twinges again. Seems unlikely that an ectopic would get as far as 11+ weeks though (even if not totally unheard of) so I’m trying to reassure myself with that.

OP posts:
sally16 · 11/01/2023 15:18

@AnnieApple123 might just be round ligament pains! 🤞🏻

Aw nightshift is so much easier and usually not as busy! Also less people to speak too 😂

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 15:28

@sally16 I figured that might be the attraction of nights. And yes good point about round ligament pains.

OP posts:
sally16 · 11/01/2023 15:32

@AnnieApple123 I've been having similar pains but I think it's maybe trapped wind pains too, which I never suffer from but pregnancy does weird things to your bowels xx

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 16:15

@AnnieApple123 yes was going to say ectopic does seem very unlikely by this point so I’d try not to worry! How many days is it till your 12 week scan? X

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 16:34

Ah yes @sally16 that too!

@ChloeN now there’s a question! My scan is booked for Monday but I’m thinking of moving it, possibly as much as another week away.

OP posts:
ChloeN · 11/01/2023 16:45

@AnnieApple123 is that your private one again or is this nhs this time? Xx
