Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Needtobuildabridge different test are so different in results. my frer is currently a "dye stealer" one step both lines are same, mommed the test line is really faint. My gp are very unhelpful so I've paid for bloods privately, had 1st ones, got next ones 27th so hoping my numbers have at least doubled

Mountainview8 · 25/12/2022 08:13

Hi everyone, I'm new to MN, just got my BFP, I'm 4+2. It's a lovely Christmas present after I had a miscarriage last Christmas and haven't had a BFP since.

DandelionPockets · 25/12/2022 11:46

@Mountainview8 perfect Christmas present, congratulations! Hope all goes well for you.

Owlgirl14 · 25/12/2022 14:23

@Mountainview8 Congratulations, what a lovely Christmas present. I'm new to MN as well and hoping to learn lots along the way x

Owlgirl14 · 25/12/2022 14:24

@Needtobuildabridge Did you take it first thing in the morning as the digital one said to if you wanted the weeks to be accurate.

Owlgirl14 · 25/12/2022 14:25

Merry Christmas everyone. Is anyone telling family today? We've decided to wait until the 12 week scan although we know how hard it will be!

We were going to but with everything still up in the air about what's happening don't know what to do x

DandelionPockets · 25/12/2022 14:30

@Owlgirl14 I'm going to wait and will tell them if I get to the end of the first trimester. I just don't want questions all the time when I'm anxious enough as it is. I'm the kind of person that keeps a lot to myself anyway so should be easy enough.

Will you be going for a scan earlier than 12weeks?

allgoodthings84 · 25/12/2022 14:59

congratulations everyone! So lovely to find out at Christmas 🄰

@Owlgirl14 we aren’t telling people until after the 12 weeks even as I had a chemical in October then again in November and I struggle with sympathy and attention from people when I’m feeling sad it makes it even harder for me. I’m 5 + 3 today (5+1 really based on ovulation) so I’m still at the stage if not quite believing it will work out but trying to feel hopeful

have a lovely Christmas Day everyone šŸŽ„

Mortima · 25/12/2022 18:42

@Mountainview8 Congratulations! What a lovely present, fingers crossed for a sticky Christmas bean

HayleyD93 · 25/12/2022 19:49

I got my positive on easyathome test strip Tuesday evening, used clear blue weeks on Thursday morning that showed 1-2 weeks and done another clearblue digital Saturday morning to make sure it was true.

I've had cramping last few days and very slight bleeding but not red so I've read it is pretty normal. Told my parents on Xmas eve as I'm staying with them for Xmas and obviously not drinking.

From putting my information into pregnancy app I am 4 weeks 4 days and due 30th August.

Rang Drs and they said they will send the form off and midwife will be in contact in about 10 weeks time. cant believe its such a long wait.

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/12/2022 20:09

We’re 6 weeks and told family today. Such a precious moment. Made it very clear it’s early and anything can happen but staying positive and counting down the days to 7 week scan on 30th!

Soopyjoopy · 25/12/2022 22:17

@HayleyD93 clearblue weeks show time since conception, ive heard people that have got 2-3 w then a week later gone 1-2, theyre unreliable. 10 weeks? I thought booking in app was the one that they then booked for the 12w scan as well? Why cant everyone do the same, different trusts all do different things its so annoying.

allgoodthings84 · 26/12/2022 10:18

How is everyone this morning?

my partner wanted to see a test confirmed in writing so bought me a digital. I get it as it’s his first baby. I remember feeling gutted when I was pregnant with my daughter when it ran out and the words disappeared off the screen šŸ˜‚. I prefer pink dye line tests.

I’m also now engaged! šŸ’•

@allgoodthings84 congratulations! What an eventful Christmas.

I’m feeling a bit odd to be honest. I’m suddenly not sure if this is what I want after all. I’ve been hoping to get pregnant again for 8 months and now I am I don’t feel good about it. I don’t know why I’m feeling this way.

Thefrogwife · 26/12/2022 11:46

Hello, thought I'd join this thread. I'm 33, hoping for first baby, 6 weeks today. I had a termination due to fetal anomaly at 14 weeks back in August, so am feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing. Feeling much more unwell than I did last time! I have a reassurance 8 week scan booked in in two weeks time (got offered one on NHS due to history) and really want the time to speed up until then. Hope you are all having lovely Christmases!

Shinea · 26/12/2022 14:57

Hello All,
I m 5 weeks today, Anyone experiencing left abdomen pain more like twitching.. I don't remember exactly about this during first weeks in my previous pregnancy!!

@DandelionPockets This is all very new to me, we weren't trying, just first time preventing so was a bit of a shock to happen so quick to be honest especially as I'm nearly 36!

What I've found out so far is you have a booking in appointment about 8 weeks and first scan about 12 weeks. But I've seen quite a few mention early scans. I assume these are private or for a particular reason.

Would love an early scan if we can as my husband has said he is worrying if everything will be ok and it's a long wait until 12 weeks. I'm going to be 5 weeks tomorrow.

How about you? Will you be getting an early scan?

Wow congratulations, a very eventful Xmas.

I did a digital test as I knew it would be easier and clearer to show my husband the result. I was 4 days late so expected it to be positive but it was a shock!

Soopyjoopy · 26/12/2022 17:15

@Owlgirl14 Early scans etc are private yes. However sometimes if you measure a bit small or other things like that or the growth lines dont quite follow the centile lines as per chart u may get another scan. Last time I had an extra one as he was 95th centile where they measure the bump on tummy for ages then had a measurement of 85. Its difference of about a mm so was probably just her measures or he'd moved but I got an extra scan so didnt complain!!

Have a look at ultrasound direct, i think theyre national, I used them last time and are really good. All pics, videos etc all to phone to keep. Window to womb was extortionate and only got 1 pic to take away.

Yeah, I am 6 days late today and I've always been spot on to the day. I tracked so I know my ovulation date and date likely to have conceived.

I'm still not 100% convinced its true especially with very light bleeding so will do another digital test in a few days and will pick up a couple of cheap pink strip tests.

I didn't speak to a Dr or nurse was just the receptionist who asked which health board I live in (our drs is on the boarder) and just said I'll send form off and you will hear in about 10 weeks time by phone. Not sure I can wait 10 weeks not knowing.

cinnamonbiscuit · 26/12/2022 23:00

@Nik84 I just wanted to reply to your post because I feel very similar. My DD is nearly 2 and I’ve been wanting to try for a second since the summer, now that it’s happened I’m suddenly terrified about having another one and how difficult it’s going to make everything 😬 and just feeling generally unfit and scared to be pregnant. It’s quite annoying really!

Also I was pregnant with her during the first lockdown so it was very easy to hide the sickness and didn’t have to dodge alcohol and caffeine etc- yesterday with my family was a nightmare!

Cat1424 · 27/12/2022 07:01

Good morning ladies šŸ‘‹šŸ¼

Hope it’s ok for me to join. I’m 30, expecting my first baby around mid/end of August, currently 7+3.

Congratulations to everyone on this thread!! How is everyone feeling?

Is anyone else suffering from insomnia? I am fine getting to sleep but as soon as the early hours hit I just can’t sleep. I haven’t had any morning sickness yet, but have had incredibly sore and HUGE boobs with cramping and the odd bit of nausea here and there.

We have also booked a private scan for 8 weeks because I self-referred through my GP and haven’t heard anything from my midwifery unit, hoping it’s partly due to Xmas. I’m a bag of nerves wondering if everything is okay so the wait until 12-14 weeks to find out isn’t an option!

Mountainview8 · 27/12/2022 07:17

@Cat1424 I'm having trouble sleeping, like you I can get to sleep ok, but keep waking up early in the morning and can't get back to sleep. Wasn't sure if it's because I'm at my parents for Xmas or due to pregnancy!

Cat1424 · 27/12/2022 07:21

@Mountainview8 Im glad it isn’t just me! We’ve stayed at home this year to try avoid as many awkward questions as possible. How far along are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve looked through the forums on here and didn’t see any mention of it so thought it might just be me šŸ˜‚
