Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Soopyjoopy all looks great! Glad you feel relieved.

How's everyone else doing? Yesterday was the first day I felt a bit nauseous. I'm also waking up really early every day which results in afternoon naps. Back to work today so that's not going to be possible today šŸ˜…

Owlgirl14 · 28/12/2022 08:03

@Soopyjoopy Those results look great!

@DandelionPockets I'm the same, usually a good sleeper but waking at 5/6am most mornings!

I'm doing ok, only symptoms really are bloating as I go through the day, tiredness in the afternoon and emotional some days. No typical symptoms yet like nausea or sore boobs!

Soopyjoopy · 28/12/2022 08:27

I get waves of nausea and just this morning the boobs feel about a stone heavier each!!

Im a nurse on nights, I've never struggled so much, I'm so tired

Londongirl87 · 28/12/2022 08:29

5 weeks today here and my only symptoms are also being a bit more tired than usual, waking up multiple times at night and my boobs are bigger and a bit sore!

Oh and constant anxiety that something might go wrong as we’ve been trying for 8 months before it happened and I still cannot believe it is real!

Morag202287 · 28/12/2022 08:39

Hi all , currently 5wk 3days after ectopic in September & 3 previous early mc's. Only thing for me is the boobs lol, sore mainly in morning &heavy, some brown discharge on wiping on and off last 4 days and tired. Being monitored closely by epu, so back for my 48hr bloods today check my hcg. See if it's progressing.

DandelionPockets · 28/12/2022 09:07

@Owlgirl14 same, this morning ten to 6. Why!

@Soopyjoopy I hope the tiredness eases up for you, must be difficult with working nights. Are you able to get good sleep after your shifts?

@Londongirl87 I seem to have the same symptoms as you all around. I can't quite believe it's real either, keep trying not to think about it too much but so hard. I hope your anxiety eases up and you can enjoy it.

@Morag202287 congratulations! Really hope everything goes well for you.

Morag202287 · 28/12/2022 09:30

@DandelionPockets thanks Mrs. I should have added when I got my bloods Monday I also was scanned internally due to surgery as its very early the only thing seen was a very thickened lining, a small burst cyst left ovary causing free fluid, they didn't seem concerned. Will ask how that is monitored today when I go for my bloods.

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 11:03

@Soopyjoopy the results look great. Hopefully you will be feeling less tired soon. I’m so tired too and I’m off work for the Xmas period.

@DandelionPockets i feel so worn out and blah but sure if it’s the antibiotics though. I only have 1 more to take at lunch today so I’ll know by tomorrow lunch time if it’s antibiotics or pregnancy. I feel so sick too but again could be antibiotics. My boobs are former and sore when touched (or when I first take my bra off it’s no longer the sweet release it used to be šŸ˜‚). That’s definitely pregnancy. Very occasionally I feel really light cramps which feel a bit like period pain so then I worry and yesterday a had I big glob of CM come out.

@Owlgirl14 I felt nothing with my daughter until 6.5 weeks (apart from fuller boobs) then bam the nausea hit like a freight train and nothing was stopping it for 14 weeks.

@Londongirl87 very anxious here too. Takes the shine off unfortunately

@Morag202287 I really hope this pregnancy goes well for you. I’m sorry for your losses. This is my 3rd pregnancy in 3 cycles. The previous 2 were early miscarriages so I’m constantly on knicker watch and am anxious but trying to remember I can’t change the outcome so try to relax but easier said than done. I’m 6 weeks tomorrow and this is the longest out of the 3 pregnancies so I’m trying to take it day by day. Good luck for your bloods

chickpea1982 · 28/12/2022 11:15

Hi everyone! Hoping it's not too late to join. I'm 5 weeks today, with my third (fingers crossed). I have a 6 year old and a nearly 5 year old so there will be a bigish gap between numbers 2 and 3.

Any older mums on here? I'm 40 now, and will be 41 when the baby is born, assuming all goes well. Am a bit nervous about the increased risks etc. We are thinking of getting a private screening test and early scan to make sure everything is ok. X

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 11:21

Hi @chickpea1982. I’ve not long turned 38 so in the older category. I have a 7 year old so will be a big age difference. I’m really considering a private scan too as I’m really anxious of losing this one too but I’m not sure if it will help for long I’ll still be worried a couple days later but as I’ve not got my booking in appointment until 10 weeks even I’m thinking my scan may be later than 12 weeks so may bite the bullet as it’s a long time to wait when you’re so worried.

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 11:23

I got my booking in appointment today. I’ll be bang on 10 weeks so thinking it’s unlikely my scan will be at 12 weeks, probably more like 13 weeks which seems so long away

Morag202287 · 28/12/2022 11:32

@allgoodthings84 have my fingers crossed for you.
I am 35, no kids yet. Its extremely easy to search for every single answer to every worry but I've come to the realisation everyone is different, after so many losses though it doesnt get any easier. So here's hoping today bloods have risen and not fallen, hopefully risen enough to look good. I have mild dull aches today nothing concerning. Except toilet watching lol nothing so far today x

Nik84 · 28/12/2022 12:26

Welcome @chickpea1982, I’m also 5 weeks with my third. I’ve got a 10 and 8 year old and I’m 38. Also feeling nervous about increased risks and quite worried overall about the future etc. I’m hoping I’ll settle soon and start to get excited šŸ¤žšŸ»

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas šŸŽ„ I’m glad I can stop dodging the Brie and champagne for a few days šŸ˜‚

chickpea1982 · 28/12/2022 12:52

Thanks for the welcome @allgoodthings84 ! 38 isn't that old - not as bad as 40! The thing I'm really worried about is downs syndrome. The risk goes up dramatically after 40. There is a blood test you can get that is apparently more accurate than the standard NHS one so I'm going to do that. X

Thanks also for the welcome @Nik84 . I saw your earlier post about feeling unsure, and was wondering how you are doing. It's daunting, isn't it? Especially when your family is already all settled. The first few years with my two were really hard. We've only just recently got over a lot of it, so to be doing it again feels like madness. But on the other hand, I want another baby and know it will bring so much joy (even if it is hard)! X

Soopyjoopy · 28/12/2022 13:45

@chickpea1982

I'll be 42 by the time I have baby. I'd just turned 40 when I had my son 12 months ago as well. I found the hospital frustrating as they told me a number of things such as I'd have to be induced "because of your age" but I really pushed and no one could tell me why other than "its what we do" so I demanded to see the consultant who was brilliant and said I had no other risks on paper and let me do my own birth plan.

I'll be 42 in June this is my 2nd birth son and I have a 3yo adopted son. I'm not sure I'll get private tested, maybe see what the NHS regular checks say.

Dhaliwal37 · 28/12/2022 15:43

Hi! I am 6 weeks pregnant and i am having this bitter taste in my mouth since last week whenever i am not eating anything…it makes me feel sick just like suffering from fever …but my body temp is normal…They say this taste is always when you are pregnant with a girl… I already have a girl and i had the same taste then also…i really want a boy this time… so has anyone pregnant with a boy also had the same taste?

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 15:56

@Dhaliwal37 I have a weird taste in my mouth too but put it down to antibiotics but maybe it’s not. I only have a daughter and it was so long ago I can’t remember if I had a strange taste then or not

Owlgirl14 · 28/12/2022 16:30

Thought I was getting away lightly with symptoms but just had my first bout of headaches and nausea.

Managed to a book a doctors appointment but it's a few weeks away yet. Did I read that you can self refer to a midwife? Would this be best to do now considering I'll be 7+ weeks by the time I see a doctor. Just conscious the booking in appointment is around 8 weeks and others don't seem to have heard back very quickly.

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 16:57

@Owlgirl14 you don’t need a doctors appointment unless there’s something you think is wrong. Some counties you apply to midwife through GP but don’t need to see the GP and some counties you don’t even go through the GP. I checked my doctors website and it had the number there to contact the midwife team to book. I rang it and got my booking in appointment there and then. With my first pregnancy (8 years ago) I booked a GP appointment when I found out at 6.5 weeks and the GP was very bemused to why I was there and told me if I’m pregnant to just get booked in with the midwife. I was made to feel pretty silly but I had no idea what I was meant to do. I was the first in my friendship group to have a baby.

It’s rare these days to get the booking in appointment at 8 weeks though. NHS now say 8-12 weeks with first scan 12-13 (possibly up to 14) weeks. My booking in appointment is bang on 10 weeks.

ClaBro1 · 28/12/2022 17:18

An eventful day. I phoned for my booking in appt and they requested I get hcg levels taken give my clear blue 3+ came when I was 4+2. Couldn’t get through to EPU and GP was highly dismissive, saying it was an expensive test. I did repeatedly say I was advised to get one but they refused!

Augustbabyy · 28/12/2022 17:29

Hi everyone, I hope it isn't too late to join! Just found out I am 5+2, due 30/08. Unplanned and unexpected! Will be my first, although I did suffer a MMC 2 years ago early on. Praying the same doesn't happen this time.

Shinea · 28/12/2022 17:51

Hello Everyone,
5+4 here and lot of food aversion!! Anyone with me? Shock

DandelionPockets · 28/12/2022 18:23

@ClaBro1 how frustrating! Will you just keep trying the EPU?

@Augustbabyy congratulations! Hope everything goes well for you.

@Shinea no aversions yet but do feel hungrier for some reason. Probably in my head at this point!

ClaBro1 · 28/12/2022 18:34

@DandelionPockets i spent 3 hours trying to get through to them with no luck so ended up paying privately! I’m pretty certain I am 4/5 weeks but couldn’t live with myself if I had a messed up cycle in November and was further on than expected.
xx

DandelionPockets · 28/12/2022 18:47

@ClaBro1 ah yes completely understandable, I would have done the same. Let us know how it goes!
