Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@allgoodthings84 Yes it was private and a quite famous place! I cannot believe that it happened either and they clearly felt bad.

They called me again just now to tell me that the blood test they made me do this morning (just in case) showed a HCG of over 550 so that has kept increasingly nicely in less than 24h

Now I will just relax and enjoy a (cheese-less and champaign-less) Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 12:08

@Soopyjoopy it’s not a nice feeling is it having to cancel the appointment. I know I need to ring up though to get booked in. I was nearly 7 weeks when I booked in with my daughter (as didn’t know until then I was pregnant) and was seen at 8 weeks. Think you have to be seen by 10 weeks anyway so I know it will be fine to wait until I’m 6 weeks. I’ll feel a bit better about it by then as seen miscarriage chance drops at 6 weeks then even more at 12 weeks. Not a lot better but more than I do now. Every day I’m worried I’ll start bleeding.

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 12:13

@Londongirl87 i think I would be asking for my money back. I know mistakes happen and they must feel awful but if you’ve paid for that they should refund you or offer you a later scan free of charge or something. I imagine you’re just happy to know things are ok though

I’m pretty lucky with what you shouldn’t eat when pregnant as I don’t like most of it anyway. I only eat hard cheeses like cheddar, don’t like raw fish, only eat pepperoni etc on pizza so fully cooked. I’m also not much of a drinker since I had my daughter. Think last time I had a drink was last Xmas and I have a great excuse this time with the antibiotics I’m on.

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 13:28

@Londongirl87 oh my goodness what a relief and how amazing however what an awful "mistake" to make, I'd definitely be asking for free things/scans or money back.

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 13:38

Why i need to tell mum!! This is just xmas eve lunch, I'll be starving by 27th!!!!

@Soopyjoopy Oh no! Good luck with the charcuterie!

My boyfriend and I are spending Christmas at home, just the two of us I because he tested positive to Covid earlier this week (luckily I did not), but we are flying to see his family in Spain next week so I have no idea how I am going to manage the food situation there either!
Let us know how you get on!

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 15:48

@Soopyjoopy hard cheese and salad for you for lunch šŸ˜‚ although that sounds kind of nice. I had chips as I feel so sick. Don’t know if it’s pregnancy or the antibiotics though. I felt sick before taking them but it’s got worse since taking them. I do generally always feel sick with antibiotics though, my body isn’t a fan of any medication so I always try and not take any but was in too much pain and the risk if strep gets really bad in pregnancy doesn’t look good after a google so they are going in.

LuckyStar511 · 24/12/2022 16:33

@Londongirl87 what a relief! So happy it’s good news for you! 🄰

how is everyone feeling? I’m so nauseous and tired and my boobs hurt now. With my first, I was horrendously sick until about 18 weeks so I’m dreading the start of that. Fingers crossed it’s a bit different this time! Although I did get anti sickness tablets last time so I know that’s always an option.

@Soopyjoopy how are you going to tell your parents?
we didn’t have any early scans last time and husband doesn’t want to have any this time either. I’m super tempted but obviously can’t do it without him so I might have some convincing to do. If we do have a scan, I’d like to do it around 8/9 weeks I think.

Hi All, just wanted to say congratulations and what such wonderful news at Christmas time. I got my BFP today, in a bit of shock as we haven’t been trying but was the first time preventing, so really didn’t expect it to happen this fast. It’s been a whirlwind of a day but we’re happy and nervous at the same time!

I’m 35, first time pregnant and have no idea about anything at all. So any advice on what happens next, what scans you can have etc would be most helpful x

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 18:50

@Owlgirl14 congratulations such a lovely time to find out. As far as I can remember the only thing u need to do by around 6 ish weeks is call GP to get "booking in" appointment with midwife. They do bloods, urine, take all ur information etc then that info makes ur nhs 12 week dating app where they do a scan. I've booked private scans last time as was so desperate to see baby. Thats all for now other than enjoying every second x

Mortima · 24/12/2022 19:48

I'd like to join - I'm 32, 6+1 with first baby (24dpo), after a chemical pregnancy last cycle - due around 24th August but I ovulated late this time so might go into September.

It's earlier than ideal, but I'm really grateful we have been able to share our news with our families for Christmas, they are all so pleased for us. I definitely understand those who aren't ready to do that yet though, particularly everyone who has just got their BFP in the last few days. Solidarity to you, Christmas food and drink is a bit of a minefield in pregnancy!

Owlgirl14 · 24/12/2022 20:57

@Soopyjoopy Thank you so much, I’ll drop the doctors an e-consult and hopefully they will ring when they are open again after Xmas.

How are you feeling and how far along are you. I’m 4+4 today.

@Mortima Congratulations, it must be a big weight off your mind telling family. We’ve had this discussion today and decided to wait until the 12 week scan. We’re just going to take each day as it comes and it will take a while for us to process the news 😊

Roxybabe · 24/12/2022 21:00

Got my BFP yesterday! I’m super early, hope I’m not jinxing it by jumping on this thread but didn’t want to keep posting on TTC thread as felt insensitive for ppl who were getting AFs!! Any tips for anxiety? I keep expecting period to show! Feeling mildly crampy and I have read this is normal but it’s stressing me out!

Londongirl87 · 24/12/2022 21:05

Congratulations @Owlgirl14 @Mortima and @Roxybabe !

@Owlgirl14 In terms of appointments I also booked an appointment with my GP which is on the 4th of January so I’ll be at almost 6 weeks by then, and I self registered on the website of my local hospital too, since it said to do it after a positive pregnancy test and they should then contact me for the ā€œbookingā€ appointment around week 8.
You can maybe check on the website of your local GP or closest maternity / hospital to see what their process is?

TTCRainbowbaby23 · 24/12/2022 21:07

Hi everyone

Anyone have any bleeding early pregnancy. My last period was 8th October, I didn’t have a positive ovulation until 10th November. I got my first positive hcg on 25/11. A week later I had bleeding and a few clots. I’ve had scans for the last 3 weeks which hasn’t showed anything although it has showed my lining went from 11mm to 8mm on my last scan.

My hcg levels have been all over the place. 77-56-112-31-34-36-41

They want me to wait until next Wednesday for any more scans or tests but I’m still getting positive hcg tests on strip and digital. My digital went from 1-2 to 2-3 but then went back to 1-2. I haven’t done another one since but I have got one to do tomorrow morning.

We have been trying for 7 years so I’m hoping this isn’t the end tests attached are tonight’s

Any help really appreciated

Londongirl87 · 24/12/2022 21:08

@Roxybabe I also tested last Sunday a few days before my period arrived and I was expecting it to show up too. It is so difficult to realise they won’t isn’t it?

It is normal to be cautious and a bit anxious (I am too!) but something that helps me is to think that right now, we are pregnant. We can’t control the future but we can do our best to embrace it and relax. Looking at the big picture, from now on, things are more likely to go well than not 😊

Roxybabe · 24/12/2022 21:16

@Londongirl87 thanks Hun! It’s so hard to block out negative thoughts isnt it! I’m going to try and let that be my mantra ā€˜today I am pregnant’… I wish the initial excitement continued but sadly it turned to anxiety the following day!! I’m hoping I’ll relax abit as the weeks pass 😬 I find myself googling alot and reading alot of mumsnet forums and as much as these threads are wonderful for support (especially as you can’t talk with friends), sometimes I wonder if they can cause some anxiety! I’m wondering whether to take a break until I feel abit calmer!

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 21:20

@Owlgirl14 4+3 today, a few of us are around the 4 and half ish weeks I think

Londongirl87 · 24/12/2022 21:25

4+3 for me as well! (17dpo)

Owlgirl14 · 24/12/2022 21:44

@Roxybabe Congratulations! I feel a bit like that today but it's just the uterus growing and causing cramping pains. Try not to worry, although I know it's easier said than done.

@Londongirl87 Great thank you, I will also have a look online and see if I can find what the process is locally to me.

I feel like my head is about to explode today thinking about it all. It's all completely new to me today!

Owlgirl14 · 24/12/2022 21:47

@Soopyjoopy Ah that's fab there's a few of us around the same date. Looking forward to making some new friends and support networks along the way. I have an awful lot to learn!

Needtobuildabridge · 24/12/2022 21:51

Hi all,

Just checking in. My HCG levels must be low, as my Clearblue digital is showing 1-2 weeks, despite me being 4+5. My strips aren't particularly dark yet either.

Any thoughts? I'm getting worried 😟

DandelionPockets · 24/12/2022 21:56

Congrats @Owlgirl14 and @Roxybabe !!

I'm 4+5 and trying to keep the anxiety at bay. Not sure when I can actually call GPs to find out what the first steps should be, probably 28th? In Sheffield and not clear really from the info online.
