@AnnieApple123 and @Butterflies12 I've got everything crossed for you. Hopefully it's just one of those things.

@AnnieApple123 my DS is quite a handful too at the moment. Terrible twos are well and truly here, plus he has a nursery grade cold on top of it. Also a number of times I had to say 'Please don't step on mummy's belly!' was one too many.

SPR40 · 24/12/2022 14:04

@AnnieApple123 @Butterflies12 hope everything is OK xxxx sending positivity 🥰

KL2222 · 24/12/2022 14:09

For those of you who have had bleeding/spotting I did too at 5+4, had an emergency scan at my fertility clinic and found out I had a subchorionic hematoma, had another scan at 6+1 and 7+1 and embryo is developing as it should but hematoma still there too unfortunately. My consultant said 70% of women bleed during pregnancy and it's not uncommon, in most cases pregnancy is fine. Which was very reassuring to hear. It's just the most frightening thing you could wish to see when finally pregnant! I've been advised "pelvic rest" no lifting, no travel, no baths, no exercise etc, essentially taking it easy. Wishing everyone the best :)

Mulner88 · 24/12/2022 14:19

@ChloeN I suffer terrible from heartburn and acid reflux so you have my sympathies. Gaviscon Advance after meals as a preventative measure I take. It's stronger than Gaviscon and safe in pregnancy. I had to get a prescription from the GP a few weeks ago of Omeprazole which is pregnancy safe and it was gone within a day or 2 of taking it! Prior to pregnancy I took Nexium but this isn't advised in pregnancy

sally16 · 24/12/2022 14:22

Slightly naughty topic.. was anyone a smoker before BFP? I stopped straight away with DS but this time I moved to a vape before we got pregnant, thankfully I'm not really wanting it with the nausea so win win but I was wondering if there was any advice anyone could share for others who maybe are struggling with an alternative or stopping 💙

BoodifulGoose · 24/12/2022 14:49

@AnnieApple123 @Butterflies12 I'm really glad it sounds positive from the professionals, I really hope you both are doing okay and are able to not worry too much over the break 💙

@sally16 I was, but not of cigs 😅
whethers originals (spelling?), fruit gums (the big packets with the small sweets, not the tubes of bigger sweets), twiddling a pen, and having scrunchies on my wrist to play with seem to be helping.
Very actively staying away from others who are, and complaining now and again to my other half and best friend (who are very understanding) is also helping 😂

@BoodifulGoose I used to stand outside with the smokers on break last time because I just wanted to feel part of the smells hahahab! But this time it's making me heave 😂
My partner stopped with me last time thankfully!

BoodifulGoose · 24/12/2022 15:14

@sally16 I was like that until morning sickness hit last week 😂
That's great of him! Mine is at new year but is grasping onto the last of his "I get to be unsensible before I have to make all of the sensible choices", which I don't blame him for 😂

sally16 · 24/12/2022 15:24

@BoodifulGoose it was good of him and he vapes in the kitchen now haha! Can tell he gets annoyed at that but shouldn't be doing it with DS nearby really as he think they are crayons 🫠🤣

ChloeN · 24/12/2022 15:27

@Mulner88 thank you! I’ll see if I can get some before Christmas just in case it happens again! Is it best to take it everyday rather than wait for it to happen?

Mulner88 · 24/12/2022 15:40

@ChloeN I tend to take it if I have quite a fatty meal or a big meal so I'll be taking it after my Christmas dinner 😂 and also if I have takeaways, I just take 5ml to prevent from getting it! I haven't taken it in over a week cos I didn't feel I needed to but have a bottle ready for all the Christmas meals!!

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 16:28

Thanks so much @KL2222 for that reassurance. As it’s my second episode like this, I have wondered whether I could have subchorionic haematoma or something similar that is worrying but benign. From looking back at the pictures, my last episode was actually worse. Yet that was over two weeks ago now with nothing in between so I do feel reassured by that too. I’m doubting now that it has anything to do with DS kicking me and think that may just be coincidental.

Glad to hear my DS isn’t the only one who’s a handful though @UsernameNotPresent . We’re at my parents’ now, having come a bit earlier than planned because of what happened. He’s been a lot better here so far. I think partly he’d just got tired of his surroundings at home, having been iced in all last week. It’s really nice as I’ve been able to have a complete break and lie down this afternoon.

Lalalul · 24/12/2022 20:25

Update on antihistamines. Asked a pharmacist who said I can’t take any 😭. I’ve been sneezing for 5 hours and my skin is red and sore after spending a mere 1 hour in a house with a cat. Hayfever season is going to be interesting!

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 21:09

Oh that’s rubbish @Lalalul . I’m afraid I don’t have any relevant experience but was really hoping you’d get the OK on this one.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day tomorrow and hope all goes well for those of you telling family. So thankful to have you all here and to know that we’re going through this together. 🎄☃️🎁⭐️❤️

Sjw30 · 24/12/2022 21:23

Merry Christmas everyone 🎅have a lovely day look forward to hear everyone’s updates after ☺️

Lalalul · 24/12/2022 21:29

Thanks @AnnieApple123. it’s a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. I’m sorry to hear you have had a worry :( sending positive wishes your way xx

BusyBushBaby · 24/12/2022 21:56

@Lalalul I take loratadine year round even when pregnant, with the knowledge of both my private fertility consultants and the NHS consultant I saw when pregnant with my son. None of them have an issue with it.

BCxx · 24/12/2022 22:28

Hope everyone has a lovely stress-free day tomorrow! I’ve just done Santa duties, would now love to be chilling in a bath with a wine but a hot chocolate will do 🤣 My parents already know, we’re having dinner with them tomorrow so will be glad not to have to lie or hide it. Seeing the in-laws earlier in the day but won’t need to get out of drinking so not telling them for a while yet.

Good luck everyone finally getting to say their news tomorrow! ☺️

Nic2908 · 24/12/2022 22:31

Merry Christmas ladies. Have the most lovely day with your loved ones xx

Lalalul · 24/12/2022 22:31

Thanks @BusyBushBaby. That’s reassuring. I’m going to check with the midwife at the next appointment. Got a while until spring at least, but going to another house with cats on Boxing Day!! I’m still sneezing and i left the house 5 hours ago!

merry Christmas all. Have a great day tomorrow

CityKity · 24/12/2022 23:18

@Lalalul Im going to ask the midwife at my booking apt about anti-histamines and the guidance I’ve read is pretty clear that it’s okay to use. I’ll let you know.

@AnnieApple123 What a lovely message and totally echo that sentiment. Thanks so much for making these early weeks a lot less scary for this FTM! I honestly wouldn’t have a clue of what to do if it wasn’t for this thread, so you’ve been such a great support especially in these early days when no one knows! Have a wonderful Christmas and I can’t wait to hear all the stories about telling family!

As for my Christmas, I’m going for the too run down to fancy a drink and it’s working better than I thought! As long as I have half a glass that I fake sip in front of me, no one really pays any attention. I thought I would have to tell my sisters for support, but it’s going well enough that I’m going to keep schtum for now.

blondebanana · 25/12/2022 09:25

Merry Christmas everyone and good luck to those telling their family today! I'm quite nervous.

@ChloeN Gaviscon has been a saviour to me too. After meals and before bed.

BCxx · 25/12/2022 14:08

@blondebanana hope it goes well! My heart was racing when I was about to tell mine last week 😂

blondebanana · 25/12/2022 19:11

@BCxx thank you! My heart was racing too... it went super well though - happy tears all round. Merry Christmas ❤️
