Hope those of you worrying about bleeding etc are worrying for no reason, I’m sure you will be but I wouldn’t fancy hanging around a&e all night either. It’s not going to do anyone any good 🙄 I’m sure all will be okay when you do get a check

ChloeN · 24/12/2022 03:16

I’m up with horrendous heartburn (I think, I’ve not really had it before so not sure🤷🏼‍♀️) but I’ve got a horrible feeling in my chest, feel sick and have loads of extra saliva 🤢
Has anyone else suffered this early in pregnancy or is it just a coincidence?

sally16 · 24/12/2022 04:48

I've got the worst head cold ever :( can barley breath and feel so dry and snotty at the same time 😭
Managed to get 90% of what I needed for tomorrow yesterday while dragging myself about the shops but I'll have to send DH today for the rest.. does it count as pregnancy related illness for work if your worse because you cannot take any cold and flu medications?

Sjw30 · 24/12/2022 05:32

@ChloeN same!! But I have this horrendous cold I no longer know what is pregnancy or cold symptoms that’s making me feel like shit 😭🤣.

@sally16 Ive actually had that thought 🤣.I’ve been off sick for the past 2 days but I’ve just left it as cold/flu. I feel completely wiped out I’m having to nap every few hours. Though my OH will say I say this every time, genuinely this is the worst I’ve felt with a cold. So I can’t help think it’s made worse with early pregnancy exhaustion and the fact I can’t take anything.

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 07:03

@ChloeN I had a day of horrendous heartburn when I was about 5 weeks. It settled after that and, although I’ve had a couple of recurrences since, they’ve not been nearly as bad or lasted nearly as bad. Partly I think because I’ve slightly modified what I’ve been eating (no more pickles, which I was craving). Hopefully it will be short lived for you too.

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 07:06

Welcome @CMG92 Sorry, your first post got caught up with @Butterflies12 and I both having panics.

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 07:09

Well I’ve made it through the night with no more symptoms. Very glad I didn’t go to A&E. Not sure what to do today and whether to try to get a scan done this morning. I’m worried about it ruining Xmas for everyone if it’s bad news. Not sure how quickly I could get treatment now anyway if it a MMC. Part of me would rather hold on and hope for the best.

Butterflies12 · 24/12/2022 07:27

@AnnieApple123 I kind of feel the same, do I want to face it if it's bad news today. However, my spotting has not stopped so I am going to call them in a minute and see what they say. So glad yours has stopped.
Thank you to everyone who has sent kind words of reassurance 💕

Sjw30 · 24/12/2022 07:27

@AnnieApple123 @Butterflies12 thinking of you both xx

sally16 · 24/12/2022 08:09

@Sjw30 I usually sue every spray, tablet or lozenge going! This time it's just horrendous, I'll no doubt get a row next week due to being on stage one already but if you can't take anything to feel better what can you really do, it's brutal!

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 08:53

Thanks everyone for your words of kindness and support also.

I just spoke to another midwife who was fairly reassuring. Said, ‘It’s quite normal to lose some bits and pieces at this stage.’ My gut feeling is that it’s probably OK. It’s going to be a nerve-wracking Christmas though and I feel bad for my family who are going to end up having to help out more with DS than they normally would. He’s quite a handful at the moment.

Let us know how you get on @Butterflies12 . So sorry you’re going through this stress too.

Lalalul · 24/12/2022 09:06

Does anyone know if I can take antihistamines? Totally forgot to ask at the booking appointment and I’m going to a friends with cats today. NHS website says ask a GP. My tablets (allevia the 120mg ones) say not for use in pregnancy 😭.

sally16 · 24/12/2022 09:16

@Lalalul I'm sure their is one you can, if you grab a pharmacy today they'll be able to help! Xx

ChloeN · 24/12/2022 09:18

@Lalalul i stopped taking them when ttc just in case because it wasn’t clear online whether it was okay or not! It said not too on my box I had tho so I didn’t risk it

Lalalul · 24/12/2022 09:33

@sally16 good idea - I will go to the pharmacy en route to my friends. Hopefully open on Xmas eve! Thank you.

@ChloeN i was a bit naive to this, I took some last week (my eyes had swollen shut) and afterwards realised I should have checked the label to see not suitable! Online is really confusing!

CityKity · 24/12/2022 10:19

@Lalalul Clarityn is the one they’re most happy to give you in pregnancy (www.nhs.uk/conditions/antihistamines/).
Don’t worry about the one you took last week, a one off is going to do no harm - how safety of medications is assessed in pregnancy is usual based on giving rodents 10-100x a human dose repeatedly and seeing if there are any fetal problems - it’s not a perfect model and it why so many drugs aren’t recommended in pregnancy.

@AnnieApple123 @Butterflies12 thinking about you a lot today. I’m
so sorry this is affecting Christmas for you both. Fingers crossed for you both 🤞

Sjw30 · 24/12/2022 10:48

@sally16 exactly! And there’s so much going round at the moment it can’t really be helped being off.

ChloeN · 24/12/2022 10:50

Do any of you knowledgable ladies know what heartburn medication I can take?? I’m struggling to find what I can have 🤣

Butterflies12 · 24/12/2022 10:58

I've just had a call back from a Dr at the EPC and she was quite reassuring and said there are many reasons why spotting can happen but her main concern is checking the baby is ok. She said she wants me to have a scan but the earliest they can do is Wednesday morning. I have to call back if it gets heavier or there are any clots etc. So now I just have to wait. It seems to have eased off a bit now since last night so I hope that it's finished but I will still go for the scan even if it completely stops. Going to be a long few days.
@AnnieApple123 between us, the messages from the health professionals seem quite reassuring I think ...

jollydollyirl · 24/12/2022 11:02

@Butterflies12 @AnnieApple123 Thinking of you both ladies. Glad to hear that the health professionals are reassuring you somewhat. Look after yourselves. xx

Sjw30 · 24/12/2022 11:05

Glad to hear the professionals are reassuring you both 💗

PumpkinEverything · 24/12/2022 11:21

@ChloeN you can take Gaviscon 😊 I went through so many boxes of it with my daughter. Literally always had a box in my bag, beside the bed, and downstairs, and had to take one before bed every night and then sometimes in the middle of the night 🫠 I took the tablets rather than the liquid

Reign01 · 24/12/2022 11:22

Hi ladies ! I got BFP on the 13th…making me 5 weeks 4 days. My boyfriend and I are over the moon but I just have an uneasy feeling I’ve been having several dreams about the worse scenarios. I have a one year old daughter and with her I felt pressure in my abdomen and yeah it was okay. This pregnancy I just feel weird. Like there is this weird sensation, Like close to my hip bone, kinda at the top of my v line. It doesn’t hurt or anything it just feels like not even tugging but it just feels as if something is right there. The feeling comes and goes though. I’ve been scaring myself half to death because I feel completely normal and I just been reading on ectopic pregnancies and I’m so scared. My first appointment is on 1/13 but I’m really thinking about going in before then. Has anyone else felt this or could any of you ladies offer me input.

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 11:23

You’re right @Butterflies12 . All sounds pretty reassuring between us. I’m feeling fine now so really need to try to focus on not thinking about this and enjoying Xmas. Easier said than done though.

AnnieApple123 · 24/12/2022 11:31

Welcome @Reign and sorry to hear you’re having so much anxiety. I’ve also had ectopic fears - on both sides! It’s such a horrible worry, I know. I get into states where I just can’t focus on anything else and end up feeling bad for my toddler as I’m not at all my usual self around him. For me all one-sided sensations have passed within a couple of days and I’ve moved on to other freak-outs. I wish I could give you more reassurance. By all means get some professional advice soo we rather than later if your concerns continue.
