Today I have to finish work before Christmas, clean my whole house in preparation for visitors, bake for said visitors coming and most importantly attend my early scan. The sickness chose today to kick in! Currently eating crackers next to the toilet 🤢

AnnieApple123 · 23/12/2022 08:00

Oh what rubbish timing @Desperatelyboredhousewife !

I’m procrastinating by being here. Got masses to do too.

Knov20 · 23/12/2022 08:03

@Marmaladebear I had quite a lot of bleeding with my first. First at 6 weeks. Then again about 9 weeks then again at 14 weeks. So much bloody that it was like a period. All times I went to epu and all was fine! They said it could be small pockets of blood then my body was just getting rid off. Some of it was quite clotted as will which was scary at the time and heavy enough that I bled through my jeans.
I hope all is okay xxx

mamabeeboo · 23/12/2022 08:09

Hi all, i think I'm at 5 weeks pregnant now. Feeling slights pains in the tummy area, online searching seems to suggest this is the uterus growing. Also very sore boobs right now. Really wanting to get my scan done. Not sure when to book it for. When is everyone seeing heart beats? Around 7 weeks i think?

AnnieApple123 · 23/12/2022 08:14

@mamabeeboo I was told not before 6+5 if you want to see a heartbeat.

Sjw30 · 23/12/2022 08:27

@Marmaladebear i hope everything will be okay xx

@SPR40 welcome and congratulations!

Rowanandremy · 23/12/2022 08:48

@UsernameNotPresent I have been so irritable with this pregnancy, it’s settled down a bit now but my wife is irritating me over the slightest things - bless her she’s very good natured and patient 😂

@SPR40 welcome and congratulations! It’s a brilliant way to end the year and see the new year in 😁

I’m so tired this morning and we’ve got a busy day ahead. Gifts to drop off, a longer visit to family we won’t see until after Christmas otherwise and then we’ve to get the house ready for visitors tomorrow and Christmas Day. Can I just go back to bed?? 🤣

Cat1424 · 23/12/2022 09:14

Hello all!

Im new to all this, currently 7 weeks pregnant with my first child (EDD 12th Aug 23) and it’s safe to say I’m absolutely petrified. I have no idea whether things are progressing normally or what to expect so I’m just looking for some reassurance I suppose.

The NHS have not been great so far, im going to be waiting until at least second week of Jan just for a midwife to call me so I have no support at the moment other than family. I’ve booked a private scan for a couple of weeks time because I simply don’t want to wait what could be another month or more to find out everything is going ok in there.

Symptoms so far have just been a bit of cramping, which seems to have started to ease off and VERY sore and enlarged boobs. I’ve read on here some other women at the same stage haven’t had morning sickness so that makes me feel slightly better.

Its all just very unknown and daunting!

AnnieApple123 · 23/12/2022 09:19

Welcome @Cat1424 That all sounds very normal so far. I had no sickness at all in my last pregnancy.

Cat1424 · 23/12/2022 09:22

@AnnieApple123 that makes me feel better! It’s all just very new and because no one has the same pregnancy it’s difficult to know whether things are as they should be.

Anxiety over the first scan is real in case there is no heartbeat, any tips for managing up until this? It’s literally keeping me awake at night.

overwork · 23/12/2022 09:25

Luckily I'm at my parents so no major Christmas prep for me, I might volunteer to be in charge of sprouts this year.
I'm quite enjoying the subterfuge around not drinking, I've found it easier to pretend that I am rather than say I'm not, my partner and I have come up with all sorts of ways around it so far. No one would ever expect that I was expecting though I don't think, I've made my opinion on children very clear over many years, so it's not like they've been hoping for an announcement! We won't be telling anyone until we've NIPT tested (thanks for the tips on those London people it's been very helpful!) and are well on the way towards the 20 week scan, so I have a couple more months of hiding it yet!
Though, particularly when naked, I could swear you can already see my stomach, hopefully I just stay the same for a while now as I already feel enormous :(

Sjw30 · 23/12/2022 09:29

Does anyone know what is safe to use in pregnancy when you have an absolute beast of a cold? I’m taking paracetamol but it’s not really helping. I’ve felt absolutely shocking the past 3 days I just don’t have any energy to do anything. All I want to do is sleep but when I do get to sleep it’s not for long 😫.

overwork · 23/12/2022 09:41

@Sjw30 they are talking about this now over on the July thread (I'm actually due very end of July so I sometimes lurk on there too). But I think the general consensus is very little can be used

BCxx · 23/12/2022 10:12

@UsernameNotPresent yeah the recovery will definitely be different this time! I just need to make sure my mum and husband can help a lot in the first week to basically just keep my toddler entertained so he doesn’t climb on me. I remember just being very very slow at first. When I got to the end of the second week I think I was okay, I was out a walk etc but that 2 weeks will be the hard bit 🙈 and my husband can’t really do everything with the baby if he needs to see to my toddler too. It will be fun 😂

sally16 · 23/12/2022 10:18

@Cat1424 if it makes you feel better my booking app isn't until the 18th January haha! And it's on Skype so not even a meeting but they don't tend to meet before 10 weeks in some areas anyway :)

Congratulations! All sounds normal 💙

blondebanana · 23/12/2022 10:25

@Cat1424 @sally16 my booking appointment isn't until the 24th Jan!! Getting a private scan at 7 weeks though. It's a long wait!

Sjw30 · 23/12/2022 10:27

@overwork I thought this might be the case 😭

SPR40 · 23/12/2022 10:31

@Rowanandremy @AnnieApple123 @Sjw30 thank you for the warm welcome. 🥰

blondebanana · 23/12/2022 10:37

Love seeing the news of everyone's scans!

Marmaladebear · 23/12/2022 10:37

Thanks everyone for the reassurance ♥️ scan saw the embryo, measuring 5+6 which is exactly where my dates have me but sonographer said she would expect me to be further along because I have such short cycles. Can't see the heart beat because it's so early so unfortunately I'm going to have to wait a week to see if baby has grown and in the meantime who knows what's going to happen.

So going to take a step back from the threads and leave the FB groups to protect my mental health. I hope I'm back at 12 weeks but who knows xx

LMM91x · 23/12/2022 10:38

I’ve not even heard a THING from my midwife !!! I messaged them on this app you can use for non urgent and they were like yeah sorry we’ve had a lot of referrals?! I’m 6+6 (or 6+1) by early scan but I referred at the behinning of december! My 12 week will be due end of jan I think xx hoping i hear something before then🤣

Sjw30 · 23/12/2022 10:42

Take care of yourself @Marmaladebear 💗I hope everything works out xx

AnnieApple123 · 23/12/2022 10:44

Hope to see you back when you’re ready @Marmaladebear . All the best until then. xx

Alexandra07 · 23/12/2022 11:24

Regarding nipt, I found this comparison table of nipt tests useful. I haven't used that specific service before:
northsurreymidwives.co.uk/what-we-do/antenatal-screening/harmony/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkMGcBhCSARIsAIW6d0AwSHMXeN4GSYrCNxc2JTvUrFSnEpUI_LEEqKTWQ3mp5M4xDAH4VHsaAogSEALw_wcB

I still have bleeding, 5th day now. The scan on day 2 of bleeding was ok, but I had a melt down yesterday when I saw 2 small clots. Bleeding is less today. I can't do anything to change the result. I asked the GP to refer me to the epu and have a scan when I go back home.

Being in an emotional rollercoaster I have missed some messages. Congratulations to everyone who just joined!

ChloeN · 23/12/2022 11:51

@Cat1424 I have no advice for scan anxiety but wanted to say i feel the exact same. I don’t think there’s anything you can do except try and forget about it! Mines not till I’m 10 weeks so I’m trying to put it to the back of my mind till then!
