@Miraclesdohappen88 congratulations!!! A wonderfully clear scan picture too 😄

@LMM91x it really is, this is going to be our last child so very emotional and just wonderful. I’m counting down the days until the next scan where I can see them again!

Sjw30 · 22/12/2022 15:10

Congratulations on all the scans so far today! Making me excited for mine later!

marleyandme · 22/12/2022 15:15

So exciting seeing everyone's scans! So happy for you all 😍
Is anyone else holding out til their 12 week one? Mines at the very end of January but I can't wait! It's boosting me hearing about all your scans

Recoba · 22/12/2022 15:20

Congratulations on all the scans! All the happiness and excitement is so contagious, it's lovely. So exciting seeing them (and tempting my resolve to wait until 12 weeks!).

@marleyandme, yep, waiting until 12 weeks unless there's a trip to EPU. Won't be 12 weeks until the start of February though 😭

ChloeN · 22/12/2022 15:21

@marleyandme @Recoba I wish mine was this week now too so I had happy news for Christmas 🤣🤣 oh well we wouldn’t of told anyone anyway so guess it doesn’t make a difference🫠

All your scans sound fab ladies, congratulations☺️❤️

BusyBushBaby · 22/12/2022 15:24

Congrats to all those who have had successful scans today! @Buttons86 I wouldn't be too concerned about no heartbeat at 5+5, it's still very early, hopefully your next scan will show more.

I can't remember who said they were measuring a few days behind but just wanted to reassure you that I measured behind with my son at all the early scans but by 12 weeks he had caught up and he was IVF so no chance my dates were off either!

LMM91x · 22/12/2022 15:38

@BusyBushBaby amazing thank you for the reassurance!❤️❤️❤️❤️

somuchtolearnabout · 22/12/2022 15:46

@BCxx I also looked into the at home finger prick kit and ruled it out to be honest, the results were too inconclusive and there's so many factors that can apparently contaminate the sample so it didn't seem worth it. Then when I booked my scan I saw that they offered it, I never even knew a "professional" blood test was possible with sneak peek. I was chatting to the phlebotomist and she said that research over the past year has shown that the earlier you get it the more accurate it is. So the further along from 6 weeks you are the less and less accurate it becomes (not by much) but at 7w2 she said the accuracy was over 99% with the professional blood test. So let's wait and see! We will still get them to tell us the gender at 20w (although knowing us we will also go for a gender scan at 16w 😂)

Recoba · 22/12/2022 15:47

@ChloeN right? There's something about having something concrete like a scan that makes it feel more real.

With finding out the gender - with our first we did find out but didn't tell anyone else. That way people didn't get us very gendered presents, we still got a bunch of the surprise when telling people, and it didn't matter if the scan turned out to be wrong.

CityKity · 22/12/2022 16:03

@marleyandme I’m waiting till 12 weeks too, my scan is 26th Jan which seems like miles away! On the plus side, the business of Christmas/NYE is making time fly by.
As this is the first time for me I’m just trying to chill out about it all until my body gives me any cause for concern.
All of these positive early scans are giving me reassurance too!

somuchtolearnabout · 22/12/2022 16:20

@CityKity Such a great way to be! What we also need to remember is that the odds are in our favour. Even more so if we have no reason to suspect anything may be wrong. In real life I don't know a single solitary person who has lost a baby early completely out the blue with zero suspicions. We read about it on here, because the small minority of people who suffer through it often find an outlet such as MN to try to find answers, or kindred spirits. Someone to talk to who's been through it too. In real life, it's incredibly rare and it's easy to forget that on this forum!

I hope that's reassuring rather than the opposite 🙈

Amme18 · 22/12/2022 16:43

Congratulations on all the scans today ❤️

I can’t decide what to do re finding out, was swaying towards surprise but I’m so impatient…@somuchtolearnabout might have swayed me 🤣

Just a note for anyone measuring behind, initially sonographer said 6+5 but then managed to get a clearer image which was 7+3 which is exactly what I should be so it can just be to do with the image!

Marmaladebear · 22/12/2022 17:02

So happy to hear about everyone's scans! 💞

Can't wait to do one myself! I feel like this first trimester is going sooo slowly for me, I'm only 5+5. I had loads of super early scans with my first on my work's insurance, trying to hold out this time round until at least 8 weeks because I have a feeling I'll be measuring behind due to when I ovulated (the opposite to with my son where I constantly measured ahead because I only used an app to work out ovulation so I think I was slightly off)

We are setting off to my in-laws for Christmas tomorrow! I'm so excited to be hosted this year although due to family set up we'll be staying in 3 different houses and going to about 5 in the space of 7 days 😂 going to be so tiring!

somuchtolearnabout · 22/12/2022 17:59

@Amme18 Haha hope I haven't ruined anything!

Havanalily1806 · 22/12/2022 18:01

Congratulations on all the scans everyone, amazing news 💕

@Marmaladebear I'm 5 weeks today so feel way behind compared to the rest of the group! But today was hurdle number 1 over, to reach 5 weeks after a CP last cycle, so to celebrate that little milestone I did my referral for my booking appointment today. I'm also planning on a scan at 8 weeks, as long away as it feels, I think 8 weeks is a better time to hopefully put my mind at rest

heand2022 · 22/12/2022 19:50

Did post in the FB group but... scan went amazing. Saw the heartbeat and baby and cried my eyes out just because of the relief. Everything where it should be, measuring at 7w6d. Keep crying just thinking about it. Merry bloody Christmas

Due August 2023 (Thread 3)
loveandwarmth · 22/12/2022 20:03

Hi everyone! Just searched for this thread as we formed a lovely Facebook group from my last due date Mumsnet group and we all still chat on their daily.
I work my due date out to be August 17th but I am almost positive they will move it earlier as I got a strong positive early, the sickness has kicked in early and technically I can only be pregnant if I ovulated early (surprise baby! 💕)
I found it a massive shock being pregnant but it is sinking in now and I'm looking forward to becoming a family of 5! I have a 3 year old DS1 and a 1 year old DS2.
I haven't had chance to read much of your many many messages before joining in but hopefully I can try and keep up with you all from now on 😊
I hope everyone is doing well!

somuchtolearnabout · 22/12/2022 20:18

Welcome @loveandwarmth and congratulations!!! Are we the same person? I could've written your post myself! I also have two sons, 3 and 1 and this was a surprise third baby (which it turns out only happened because I did ovulate early!) and I still have a WhatsApp group that we chat in every minute of the day that was formed when I was pregnant with DS2! I kept reading your post thinking.....did I just write that?!

Anyway welcome and lovely to have you here. There is a fb group which someone has posted the link to further down if you'd like to join us over there 🙂

BCxx · 22/12/2022 20:23

@LMM91x @Rowanandremy @Miraclesdohappen88 what an amazing day, congratulations everyone 🎉

BCxx · 22/12/2022 20:27

@heand2022 so exciting! Congratulations 🎉

AnnieApple123 · 22/12/2022 20:33

Lovely to hear so much positive scan news today.

@marleyandme I’ve ummed and ahhed lots but, unless any new concerning symptoms arise before then, I’ll be holding out until 12 weeks for a first scan. So you’re definitely not alone.

And @CityKity I’m also erring towards not finding out the sex this time. Last time I was keen to know as I felt it made it more real somehow to be able to picture the baby as a boy or a girl. Now that I’ve had one baby though, I’m not really feeling that and the idea of a surprise is sounding quite attentive.

Has anyone got names lined-up already? We do for a girl but boys are proving trickier.

Sjw30 · 22/12/2022 20:38

Just a quick update for those not on the fb group. Scan went perfectly measuring 6+2 from what I estimated to be 6+6 and saw a heartbeat 💗

somuchtolearnabout · 22/12/2022 20:54

@AnnieApple123 We often randomly blurt names out to each other "what about X for a boy" type thing, but there's very few we have agreed on. DS1 was easy, DS2 was nameless for over 2 weeks! I have NO boy names left. Noah was on our list both times but I just don't see us ever using it. I love Noa and Roma for a girl though.

Amme18 · 22/12/2022 20:59

Girls names are easier, although still don’t agree on many…Eliza, Isabella and Sophia make the list. I hate that we have to agree cause I have loads of names 🤣
Boys we don’t have one single match!
Also want to use my mums name for middle name I think, although she hated her name and literally
told me on her death bed if I have a girl I don’t have to use it 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s Jill so not a used name nowadays but also don’t think it’s an ugly name either, especially for a middle name! Just quite plain but Jane was the rage when I was growing up and that’s quite similar?

BCxx · 22/12/2022 21:23

We don’t have a single second boy name that we’d use. We’ve used our one name and now it kind of needs to tie in with it so if it’s a boy I literally have no idea what we’d call him. Before ever having our first we always had a boy and girl name picked and imagined we’d have one of each but now we have a second girls name so I don’t know whether we’d go for the original or it. Feel like I can’t even really let myself think about it yet and I’m weirdly not even really thinking ‘what is it?!’ yet, I think that will come after the 12 week scan when I’m waiting on the 16 week one but I’m just focusing on getting to next Saturdays scan then I might get another early one mid January to see more of a baby on the screen if I can’t wait til early feb for my 12 week scan!
