@LS888 we've looked at baby stuff but haven't bought anything yet, we've put our families under strict instruction not to buy anything until the 12 week scan just to be on the safe side, although we may have a pair of little mittens already.. 😂

sally16 · 21/12/2022 11:09

@BoodifulGoose if it was immediately after and you can see it I'd maybe wait a bit then take another, just so you don't throw that one up too 😅

sally16 · 21/12/2022 12:14

I bought the boots pregnancy vitamins.. they are like bloody horse pills! No wonder pregnacare is so much more expensive.. Atleast they are a regular size 😂

MidnightSunshine12 · 21/12/2022 12:22

For anyone concerned about bleeding, I think the cause of mine may have been related to having an ectropian cervix if that helps. They also found a dermoid cyst so may also be a factor but couldn't actually confirm a reason.

BCxx · 21/12/2022 12:36

@Knov20 glad you’re going to stay for a bit, really hope you have some good news soon. You are apparently quite fertile after an early loss, I’m not sure what happens with your cycle though if most people can try again in 2 weeks? Just so gutting when it looked like you had great news to share for Christmas ☹️

Loudmouth1 · 21/12/2022 12:57

I have 5 brothers, 3 with autism varying differently on the spectrum and not a single one of them use their autism as an excuse to justify anything they say or do, it also doesn't make them exempt from being empathetic and sympathetic towards others nor do they use it to make others feel uncomfortable by being suggestive they're being discriminated against because they have autism, they've been raised to understand that if you can't be kind be quiet! This thread and 99% of its contributors have been nothing but kind and supportive to those who have needed it most and been as positive and reassuring as possible, just because people on here are positive and hopeful that in 8 months time they'll have a lovely little baby does not by any means imply they're unrealistic or deluded, and I deem it unfair and unacceptable to constantly put a negative on so many of our highs!

Mulner88 · 21/12/2022 12:59

Hi @Knov20 I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope you're okay. I had an early MC in March this year and was told I could start trying right away as you are quite fertile. This is what the nurse told me in the EPU. Luckily, my period came back a few weeks later but we decided to take a couple months off trying just to have a break from it all. Hope you have all the success 🥰

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 21/12/2022 13:08

I think the lady in question, who mentioned her autism, was coming from a place of high emotion and anxiety.
Im sure she hasn't meant to offend anybody, and I hope in turn she can see that as a group we have tried to help her, whilst still wanting to allow ourselves to be happy and hopeful.
I would like to offer compassion to both sides 🥰

On another note, I am desperate to start purchasing little bits, I am a huuugggee Disney fan, husband and I went to disneyworld for our honeymoon, and I now find myself with an excuse to go all out Disney, and I frequently find myself just scrolling the Disney website 😂😂

Bec0303 · 21/12/2022 14:15

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and have SO many questions I don't know where to start!

My last period date was 19th November so I'm think I'm about 3 weeks but Im so confused as to how to work it out? When everyone on here says how far along they are are they talking about since last period, or how long the test says?

I've got a lot to learn :)

Bec0303 · 21/12/2022 14:15

I should add - my cycle is about 27 days

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 21/12/2022 14:17

@Bec0303 I was told to add 2 weeks to my test because the Doctors would calculate it from last period.

Congratulations!

sally16 · 21/12/2022 14:18

@Bec0303 congratulations!! I use the pregnancy+ app which gave me my due date the same as the nhs calculator :) xx

VickiGo · 21/12/2022 14:20

@Bec0303 first day of your last period 😊

I found out I was pregnant at around 5 weeks I believe, when I did the clear blue digital test it said 3+ weeks and said on the instructions that the docs would take it as around 5+ weeks, hope that's helpful?

And, of course, congratulations!!

ChloeN · 21/12/2022 14:22

@Bec0303 think you’d be around 4.5ish weeks! You cycle is pretty close to the average 28 days so think that would be accurate ☺️

Bec0303 · 21/12/2022 14:25

Ah thank you so much everyone!

I'm obviously being cautious with how carried away I'm getting but it's difficult to not get excited. It was absolutely not planned buuut were both getting used to the idea now! I'm 33 (nearly 34) yet Im feeling like a teenager whose going to get in trouble haha.

I did a calculator on a website and it says Im 4 weeks and 5 days so I will go with that :)

I have an appointment with the GP on Friday so Im hoping they will advise me on folic acid and vitamins etc? Does anyone have any advice on what I should be taking and when?

xxx

Amme18 · 21/12/2022 14:28

Is anybody else ridiculously exhausted? Wanted to clean today ready for Xmas and I’ve managed half the bathroom. I don’t remember being like this last pregnancy - I’m not even at work as
still off sick since my mum passed away.
Worried it could be low iron? It’s next level exhaustion and I’m not sleeping properly so that’s probably not helping but I’m also not doing a lot else!

Very well said I think. ❤️🥰❤️

I almost bought a babygro in John Lewis the day before I tested positive. I was there shopping for DS when a very distinct metallic taste came into my mouth and I was that certain I knew what it meant.

It would have been a symbolic purchase though as, after DS, we don’t need much at all. It’s all very gender-neutral too.

LuckyStar511 · 21/12/2022 14:36

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all well.
So, I’m 4+3. Trying not to overthink anything but also enjoy it too.
When did you all contact your GP to book your midwife appointment? I know the appointment isn’t until about 7/8 weeks but do you need to book a while in advance?
How’s everyone doing symptom wise? I’m exhausted and having waves of nausea but also really hungry 😂. Was super sick with first child so hopefully I don’t get that ill again.

Alexandra07 · 21/12/2022 14:40

@MidnightSunshine12 thank you for the info! I hate when I hear bleeding is expected without telling you why that's the case for you. Did you find out from the scan?

@Bec0303 you should start folic acid as soon as possible, it's advised to take it while trying to conceive and for the first trimester if I remember correctly. Any brand will do, cheap boots folic acid or any super market brand will do. Have a look here:
www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/vitamins-supplements-and-nutrition/#:~:text=Folic%20acid%20before%20and%20during,tube%20defects%2C%20including%20spina%20bifida.
I take vit D as well, but both but D and folic acid I take are in the pregnacare vitamins. You don't have to take multivitamins.

AnnieApple123 · 21/12/2022 14:42

@Amme18 Yes I am ridiculously exhausted. DS has gone to his grandparents for the afternoon and I’ve been crashed out on the sofa ever since he left. I have iron tests regularly due to being hypothyroid and I know I’m right at the top of the range, so it’s definitely not that. Worth checking though if you’re worried. I believe they usually test routinely as part of booking bloods?

I do remember being like this last time too. It was half-term at around this point and I seem to remember that all I had the energy for was lying watching back-to-back Baking Off and even then I kept falling asleep…

Recoba · 21/12/2022 14:44

Hi @Amme18 I felt really tired all throughout my last pregnancy and was always borderline anaemic in my blood tests, so was recommended by my midwife the floradix liquid iron. It tastes okay and doesn't cause constipation (typically an issue already in pregnancy!), and it's on 3 for 2 at H&B at the moment (it's still pretty pricey still though). I'm planning on taking some anyway in this pregnancy as a precaution since it helped in the last one and I'm already feeling tired.

Bec0303 · 21/12/2022 14:45

Ah okay thank you - I will get some this evening eek !

Alexandra07 · 21/12/2022 14:46

@LuckyStar511 I self referred and called GP at 5 weeks. I had a mc last time at 5 weeks so I wanted to pass the 5 weeks.

Eventhough I have a lot of items, I realised I still need to buy quite a few things, but nothing before the 12 weeks scan.

@Amme18 I started feeling tired, taking an afternoon nap and sleeping early!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 21/12/2022 14:47

@Amme18 so exhausted. Feel like I could nap most afternoons, but fighting the urge incase it prevents me from sleeping at night!

Amme18 · 21/12/2022 14:48

@AnnieApple123 Well I’m due some bloods anyway - I’m sub clinical hypothyroid?! So basically not an issue but they do 6 monthly bloods. but might ask if my iron and vit D can be checked too. I’m always borderline for iron and was really low vit D for a while too after having covid. Thank you for the reassurance though re tiredness - I absolutely hate it as I’m usually so motivated and my house is a bomb site!

@Recoba yes Floradix is a good shout!! Had it years ago, never minded the taste too much! I’d seen about spatone but never had it and wasn’t sure on dosage etc so will buy some floradix.
