@MsRT so glad for you 💙

@mamabeeboo think most of us with booked in early scans are going privately and paying for them. Few have had scans due to bleeding etc through EPU's but a lot of us booked :)

@AnnieApple123 we are in North Italy. While waiting for the scan I was thinking that if things are not good, at least I'll be able to eat tiramisu (it has raw egg, coffee and alcohol) 😄

I first asked is the embryo ok? Second question, is there only one?? My husband would have had a heart attack if she had said yes!

Amme18 · 20/12/2022 16:39

I had some bleeding this morning,
scan this afternoon and measuring right on target at 7 week 3 days ❤️ saw the heartbeat too!

@Amme18 ahhhh how amazing (and totally surreal) to see the scan picture. I’m 7+1 so it’s just crazy imagining this inside us!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I was keeping up
with my running until I got hit by a cold last week. I definitely feel more fatigued that usual and the first km is a bit sleepy but the rest actually feels quite nice. I really want to wear a baby on board badge so all the speedy runners overtaking me give me a bit of sympathy instead of thinking how slow I’m going!

Congrats on all the good scan results! Just a quick question - is the booking appointment just lots of questions about health/medical background or are any tests done? If so for what purpose? I’m slightly annoyed I have to cut my Christmas trip short to come back for if it is just questions that could be done online. Obviously the letter is pretty clear on not trying to rebook a slot, so I’ll just have to lump it really.

buttercupbee · 20/12/2022 17:16

@CityKity I’ve just got back from my booking appointment. It was mainly questions about health but they also took a blood test, urine sample, measured my weight and took my blood pressure

Recoba · 20/12/2022 17:19

@AnnieApple123 What!? You've just given me and DH a heart attack about the increased odds of twins whilst breastfeeding (direct quote from DH "why did no-one warn us!?"). Almost tempted to get an early scan to confirm there's only one in there! Fingers crossed it's just a small sample size effect and badly designed study and not a real effect.

LS888 · 20/12/2022 18:00

Increased likelihood of twins if you are older too- I’m 36 🙈 Think my DH would like them and has mentioned it a few times but not sure how we would cope!

Amme18 · 20/12/2022 18:03

I was convinced it was going to be twins as symptoms worse than with DS and early results on cheapo test! I think other half was a bit disappointed, I’m very relieved 🤣 the cost of childcare alone for 2 babies is enough to put me off!

BoodifulGoose · 20/12/2022 18:15

@CityKity same as @buttercupbee, I had urine sample, height, weight, blood pressure and bloods taken

So pleased for you @Amme18 🥰

@Amme18 omg I didn't even think of the childcare bill 😂 I'm excited for my nearly 2 years of no childcare fees as off next month haha

Londongirl87 · 20/12/2022 18:25

So nice to read that your early ultra sounds went well! @Amme18 and @MsRT 😊

blondebanana · 20/12/2022 18:30

@Recoba thank you!! That is sooo good to hear. I am petrified!!

@BCxx haha😂 gosh I am the same... I've never been a baby person - it just hasn't come naturally to me. I also wasn't 100% sold on having kids. Might be because I don't have a great emotional bond with my own parents. I'll try my absolute best and I hope that's enough! I also have my work Christmas drinks on Thursday... I'm going with the "I'm on antibiotics" 😂

@mgwyegve congratulations!! You must be over the moon!

blondebanana · 20/12/2022 18:32

Gosh I'm not sure I could handle twins... I'm overwhelmed at the thought of one! Although twins do run in my family...

ChloeN · 20/12/2022 18:37

Since none of you ladies seem particularly keen on twins I’ll take one for the team and have them 🤣🤣 I’ll let you know if it’s me after my scan in jan!

blondebanana · 20/12/2022 18:38

@ChloeN haha thank you!! Much appreciated 😂

CityKity · 20/12/2022 18:39

I’m another one in which DHs dream is twins (which we have directly on both sides) but I’d be absolutely terrified at the cost, coping, and physical side of carrying two. HUGE respect to all twin mums out there.

@blondebanana I’m the same, I’m not sure I’m a baby person either. I get on with kids/babies okay but I’m a huge introvert so am terrified as the thought of never being alone again. I had already put myself in the fun aunty camp and me and DH for various reasons assumed we were both infertile. So safe to say I’m still in shock.

@BoodifulGoose @buttercupbee thanks for the info on the booking apt - I’m glad there are some tests done to justify the trip! Any idea what they’re testing blood/urine for at this stage?

blondebanana · 20/12/2022 18:43

@CityKity I'm totally with you on the thought of never being alone again - it's scares me too. 24 hours of knowing and I'm still in utter shock!!

Thanks everyone for all the support and congrats to everyone again 😊

sally16 · 20/12/2022 18:48

@blondebanana @CityKity the never being alone thing is so hard sometimes! I occasionally book an extra nursery session so I can lie in bed all day watching tv in peace 😂 it's not being a bad mum, but a clever one 🤣 even if it's just a morning it's £20 well spent in my eyes haha!

blondebanana · 20/12/2022 18:55

@sally16 hahah brilliant - I'll take note of this!

Nik84 · 20/12/2022 19:08

It’s going to be me, I’m going to be the one with twins 😵‍💫 I’m 38 and had a really strong positive days before period due. Oh God, I already have 10 and 8 year old girls 😭🤣

Leamch · 20/12/2022 19:10

@Amme18 that’s wonderful ❤️

I’ve been following this thread for a couple of weeks but not posted yet! I had some bleeding today and on Saturday, only a small amount though noticeable, but still worrying! I’m 6+4 so it’s still early. I was thinking of booking an early scan but I called the midwife and she said just to wait for the next few days and see. Just taking it a day at a time at the moment. Also worried about going away with in laws over new year but we’ll just have to see how it goes!

sally16 · 20/12/2022 19:15

@Leamch congratulations 🥰 I was 6+2 and there was barley anything to see but a little flicker in the fuzz for me 🤣 but it wasn't an internal, just abdomen! Xx

Leamch · 20/12/2022 19:22

@sally16 ah that’s good to know! Midwife said don’t do an internal scan if i have bleeding but if I can get abdomen this early I might look into it! will see if I can get to 7 weeks, would be good just for reassurance!

AnnieApple123 · 20/12/2022 19:40

Sorry @Recoba I didn’t mean to freak you out. I’ve had difficulty even locating the study - can only find references to it - so I don’t think it was a well-conducted one at all.
