@ChloeN mine was also 1.5 hours!!

sally16 · 19/12/2022 15:22

I'm not looking forward to mines, was 2 hours last time and this time it's on teams so hoping can cut it short 🤣

ChloeN · 19/12/2022 15:26

@BoodifulGoose @Mulner88 oh bloody hell that’s ages🤣 is it just loads of questions?

BCxx · 19/12/2022 15:28

Wow, there have been A LOT of messages since I was on last night 🤣 away to catch up on them and read your holiday replies!

Mental health/therapists are mentioned on here lots but in real life I know no one who admits to seeing a therapist. I’ve been struggling with anxiety caused by work that’s just generally spilling into my every day life and I’m now anxious about the fact I can’t quit my job as I need the mat leave and will need to be off sick long term which I’ve never done before. Going back just isn’t an option now when I let it get so bad before going off 😑 I think I’m going to speak to a therapist just to try and contain that anxiety so I can bin it when this chapter of my life closes when I reach mat leave. I’m normal level anxious about pregnancy but as you say @BoodifulGoose most pregnancies result in a baby and the last time I was pregnant I felt like this, if not more scared, and have a toddler sitting in front of me to prove me wrong!

I also think I let the rest of my life get into a bit of a mess when I’m busy with one thing which just adds to the anxiety so I have a huge to do list and a house full of stuff we don’t need. I’m going to try and completely declutter, throw out loads of stuff and do all my life admin before the new year so I’m starting on a fresh page!

Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me joining this conversation after seeing the link in another TTC conversation :-)
I tested positive yesterday and this morning at what I think was 10 and 11dpo. I have relatively short cycles (25 days) so my period is not due until Wednesday.
We have been TTC for almost 12 cycles now and it is our first one. We've been diagnosed with male factor infertility (my partner has a low sperm count) and were due to start our first round of IUI after Christmas.
I am so scared that it might be a chemical pregnancy. I am expecting my period to arrive as usual this week and cannot imagine that I might actually be pregnant!

Amme18 · 19/12/2022 15:37

Ah congrats @Londongirl87, fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy ❤️ low sperm count is no reason to think it won’t be a viable pregnancy, I know it’s hard to let yourself believe it though! All you can do is take care of yourself and hope for the best ☺️

ChloeN · 19/12/2022 15:39

@Londongirl87 congrats lovely! I think your lines look great so far ☺️

Knov20 · 19/12/2022 15:43

Hi everyone.

I'm joining from a TTC chat. This is our second baby. (ds is now 2). I am super early on as only got what I think was implantation bleeding on Thursday night then on Sunday tested positive albeit a very faint line on a few tests! I'm nervous for what's ahead but equally excited!

Rose05 · 19/12/2022 15:46

Hi everyone! I hope you don’t mind me joining either. Currently 6weeks 2 days with an EDD of 12th August. Baby no. 2 🥰 It didn’t feel real to me until the nausea and tiredness crept in! Have got a private scan booked for 8 weeks for some reassurance x

ohfook · 19/12/2022 16:39

AnnieApple123 · 18/12/2022 21:09

Welcome @ohfook Hope you get your positive soon.

I got it this morning! Very feint but a definite line.

elarcoiris · 19/12/2022 17:12

For those asking about booking appointments, had mine at the weekend and was about an hour total. Was pretty thorough and ended up spending quite a lot of time talking about my previous birth/breastfeeding experience so probably could’ve been shorter if we hadn’t got sidetracked on that!

sally16 · 19/12/2022 17:44

Last pregnancy my face got super fat... it's starting to do the same 🫠

buttercupbee · 19/12/2022 18:23

@Londongirl87 @Knov20 @Rose05 welcome and congrats 🥰

CityKity · 19/12/2022 18:31

Congrats to all the new BFPs on the thread, I can’t believe we’re on thread 3 and they’re still rolling in! So much to catch up on here today.

Just starting week 7! Glad the cold snap is over as that was really not helping my lack of energy the past few weeks. Still no clear symptoms and hoping that holds out over Christmas. I am a bit worried that it’s not a good sign / it doesn’t really feel real yet, but I’m happy to have my head in the sand until the 12 week scan.

re holidays chat - I had resigned myself to zero holidays next year, naively assuming I could use my holiday allowance at the start of my mat leave, not realising that mat leave has to start when on baby’s due date/arrival. This has really bummed me out as my mat leave package isn’t great, so I at least thought I could have an extra month of full pay to add on. Oh well, better start planning a baby moon instead! Love the idea of Croatia, I’ve never been and it’s on the list.

Caitskelsey · 19/12/2022 18:46

Hi everyone - Congratulations to everyone that has found out they’re pregnant!!! So so exciting for us all… but never wrecking!!

so I found out 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant, I am currently 6+2 today. Anxious to hell and constantly over thinking everything. I lucky enough work in a lovely maternity unit so I have had a reassurance scan that everything is in the right place to hopefully grow the baby nicely 😊

except from being dog tired and sore boobs I feel fine and still can’t believe I am pregnant. I don’t want to wish the days away but I am wanting it to be our 12 week scan now so we can go and see baby bean on the screen.

how’s everyone else feeling? I am so pleased there is forums like this on the internet to we can chat and get reassurance from eachother!

rest up everyone and let your body rest and keep warm!! It’s so so cold out side xxx

Knov20 · 19/12/2022 19:02

Thanks @buttercupbee. I think because I'm still very early on I'm almost not convinced I'm pregnant yet. It's a weird feeling!!

Marmaladebear · 19/12/2022 19:25

@CityKity you're right that your maternity leave is triggered as soon as baby is born but (if your work lets you carry over annual leave) you can use your annual leave at the end of your maternity leave to stay off but get full pay. I did this because my DS was born 3 weeks early so where I intended to use holiday my maternity leave was triggered and I had to tag it all at the end of my mat leave. You also accrue holidays while you're on maternity leave - this all helped me so much with finances because my maternity leave is also not great with work so using annual leave helped me get more money! I also used KIT days while I was on statutory maternity leave so I never went a single month with zero pay and took off a whole year. I didn't even know about KIT days but luckily our HR person was really good and advised me to take them when I had the least pay to get the most money out of them.

CityKity · 19/12/2022 19:35

@Marmaladebear thanks so much for sharing your experience. I’m hoping that once I tell work they will be helpful with this advice, and I can also ask other woman at work how they managed it. Work currently let us usually carry over 5 days but I suspect that’s the same over maternity leave, but honestly I have no idea yet!
Given due date is August, in the case that I saved up all my 2023 holiday, in theory would an employer really let you take over all 25 days from 2023 and also use entire holiday allowance from 2024 to add another 2 months at full pay to the end of mat leave?
Despite working for a tech company that has amazing gender balance and sings about woman in stem, our Mat leave policy is only 8 weeks at full pay before it starts dropping off.

Londongirl87 · 19/12/2022 19:38

I feel exactly the same as you @Knov20 ! I haven’t missed my period yet so I just feel like it is going to arrive tomorrow or the day after as planned, and I am terrified of having a chemical pregnancy/ early miscarriage, particularly because I am on the older side (almost 36)

Did you take only one pregnancy test or are you still testing to see a line progression?

CityKity · 19/12/2022 19:45

@Londongirl87 just to reassure you, the only l symptoms I had in the run up to AF were the same as I would expect when my period is due. Tender boobs, mild lower back cramps etc. I was so convinced AF was coming that I didn’t take a test until a few days after I was due!

Londongirl87 · 19/12/2022 19:55

@CityKity Thank you! That reassures me. I have slightly sore breasts but have this every cycle, and it is probably too early for any other symptoms anyway!

I think it will feel more “real” once I have properly missed my period as this has never happened!

LBF2020 · 19/12/2022 20:46

@Londongirl87 I was the same as @CityKity.
I had sore boobs and pre period cramps, I booked in to see a gynae the following week as I was certain AF was coming and wanted to talk about options going forward.
Then I was late by a day and wanted a g&t, so I thought I'd better do a test and it was positive!

AnnieApple123 · 19/12/2022 20:53

@Loudmouth1 I’m definitely identifying with the toddler antics.

Welcome to @Londongirl87 , @Rose05 , @Knov20 , @Caitskelsey and officially @ohfook !

Had booking appointment with obstetrician this afternoon. Also about 1.5 hours. Slightly worried as there were ketones in my urine sample which suggests I’m not eating enough. I really need to work to remedy this although it’s hard as I have so many food aversions currently.

@Alexandra07 I got my thyroid blood results and my TSH is 0.97 - exactly the same number as right after pregnancy was confirmed. So dosage to stay the same for now and will be reviewed in another 4 weeks. She was very critical of my current doctor for never having paid much attention to my T4 levels. I hate when doctors say negative things about each other like that.

Knov20 · 19/12/2022 20:55

@Londongirl87 I've taken a few now. Because I'm only in my second cycle I don't have a clue when my period is due as such. Although I'm now officially two weeks after I got a positive OPK for ovulation. However I know then you can ovulate 24-48 after that. All the tests I have done have been quite faint bar a frer which was a bit darker. I'm going to do a digital one at the end of this week just so there's no ambiguity. Then hold my fingers tightly crossed baby can stay put. I'm 35 at the end of this month so not far behind you! Did you do a few tests? X

sally16 · 19/12/2022 21:01

Symptom tracking... mines are gone.. except the bloating and boobs! Someone's just asked me at work if I'm doing ok.. which I think is code for are your fat or pregnant 🤣
