Aw thank you @TheCakeIsALie18 feeling a lot better today.

😂😂😂 its very addictive glad to here the withdrawal was ok! I have six test left :/

pugsB · 20/01/2023 23:26

@eleveneleven11 @TheCakeIsALie18 @Nypie thanks! it was a lot of fun! Suddenly the day before we had to announce i got cold feet for some reason and was feeling terrible about having to involve everyone in this but hubby couldn't wait. since all of our family lives outside the country he especially felt lonely in having to take care of me without any prior experience 😂😜 so he wanted at least the moms on both sides to be on the 'in'. He has been chatting with them more than me lol! I am kinda just hoping the fetus survives another month!

Honestly, I have been feeling a little meh lately. The anxiety is getting to me especially right around any doctors appointment or test. I just want the first trimester to be over! I have also started to have serious food aversions and I feel nauseous if I eat too much which isn't even a lot. Have to reduce my portions to half and then i feel hungry again in an hour. my sleep is also much worse--don't know if that is pregnancy or the anxiety about pregnancy! I either have no energy or will to do anything or i am super emotional and irritable 😣😣

Had my first OB appointment yesterday. Baby had grown quite a bit and was moving apparently. The nurse could see the movement but we didn't. I am still a couple of days behind based on CRL. She didn't measure the heartbeat though but said that it seemed quite strong. She just did a quick scan pretty much and said yup you are pregnant and congratulations! This appointment especially the scan felt a bit rushed so we aren't sure if we want to stick with this OB practice. There are other reasons as well. Its part of a big hospital only 5 mins away from us though so the convenience is hard to pass up.

@Nypie hope you are feeling better. i couldn't stop testing myself. I think i went to about 6.5 weeks. I noticed that while i got dye-stealers when the tests were wet they would all dry to look the same more or less after a point so I lost the thrill of testing lol

@TheCakeIsALie18 @eleveneleven11 so excited about your nurseries! Must feel so nice to be in nesting mode!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 21/01/2023 13:35

@pugsB I'm sorry you're OB appointment felt so rushed, but it's amazing that you've caught up! That's exactly what happened to me. By 12 weeks we were measuring exactly as we were meant to ❤️❤️❤️ take heart in those horrible feelings you're getting because they're all perfectly normal pregnancy symptoms. You're doing amazingly. Little bean is growing perfectly 🥰 xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 Thanks for the support 🥰🥰. I feel much better today having been able to sleep the whole night. Yes baby seems to be doing its thing so keeping my fingers crossed that the trend continues 🤞🏼. How are you doing? Third trimester almost here for you..

Btw, did any of you do the genetic test for the fetus? its called NIPT here..

eleveneleven11 · 23/01/2023 09:32

@pugsB so happy to hear that everything is going well for you now. seconding what @TheCakeIsALie18 said about feeling crappy. it sucks that the pregnancy is making you feel tired and emotional! but it's only temporary and of course it's a sign of lovely strong hormones.

i personally haven't heard of the genetic test/NIPT. what's it all about?

does anyone have any experience or knowledge of anti-d injections? i have been booked in for one at 28 weeks and will need another after birth as my blood type is AB negative. husband is O negative so luckily baby's blood type will be negative too and compatible with my blood type but the injections i think are to ensure that if i was to ever have a baby with anyone else with a positive blood type (very weird to think about haha) then risks would be reduced in future pregnancies.

all very interesting! but I've heard the injection goes in your bum post-birth and wondering if it's the same for the 28 week one? i have a needle phobia and have heard that bum injections are painful!!!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 23/01/2023 09:50

@pugsB good I'm glad you're sleeping better now. We've all got out fingers crossed for you too.
No I didn't do the NIPT. I had a gender scan at 16 weeks xxx

@eleveneleven11 I'm having my anti-D injection next week lol. I'm Aneg and hubby doesn't know his bloody type, but his mum is a positive.
So yeah, you're right it's to reduce risk in future pregnancies. My midwife describes it like an antibody for positive blood. In future pregnancies, if the baby has positive blood your body would attack almost like you had an infection. The anti-D stops that. You will have to have the injections for every pregnancy as a "just in case" measure. You will also need extra anti-D injections if you have an accident to you bump... falling over for example.
I've never heard of it going in the bum though lol. I'll let you know next Thursday! Your midwife will also book you in for a blood test before the anti-D. My blood test is booked for Wednesday, and the injection is on the Thursday. Hope that helps xxx

I've got a 28week scan this week. I've have an appointment every week for 4 weeks then I get a week off and then another 2 weeks of appointments. And it's like that all the way up to the due date 🤣 xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 ah brilliant, very grateful of your knowledge and glad that you can let me know what it's like! fingers crossed it avoids the bum region hahahha.

all these bloody needles! i need to book in for my whooping cough jab now too. it's never-ending!

lovely that you've got a scan to look forward to this week! counting down the days til my 20 week :)

Nypie · 23/01/2023 15:31

@pugsB I think I got to that stage yesterday at 6+2 the test seemed darker when I did but as it dried the control line looked darker then before so I'm done with the cheapies have a clear blue and a frer left and then the scan on Friday, I honestly could throw up with nerves. So glad to hear your bubs is growing nicely. Dont blame you for wanting a nice non rushed experience!

pugsB · 25/01/2023 23:39

@eleveneleven11 its a blood test (on my blood) that looks at fetal DNA fragments that have that should have already mixed with my blood. You can do it after 9-10 weeks gestation. The test looks for the DNA for gender and chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. I will be going in for it sometime next week. Its a newer test so maybe its not quite universally recommended yet. Before they used to only do the NT ultrasound and a different blood test. I am also going to be doing the NT at some point. Hope your injection goes well and is pain-free 🤞🏼

@Nypie I completely understand your position. I feel like weeks 5/6 to the first scan can be the hardest! But then you have the wait for the next test/ scan and it starts all over again. I think i am slowly beginning to understand what parenthood might look like. No free lunches in life i suppose!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 27/01/2023 10:30

Hey everyone ❤️ just checking in. How are you all doing!?

3rd trimester is here! Had a 28 week scan on Wednesday and baby Charlie says hi 💙 he is currently weighing roughly 2lbs 9oz. Xxx

pugsB · 28/01/2023 18:39

@TheCakeIsALie18 lovely!! only a few months to go now..eeeek!! Have you started shopping for Charlie--like cute onsies and bibs and all the other cute stuff?

@eleveneleven11 @Nypie How are things with you both?

TheCakeIsALie18 · 28/01/2023 18:46

@pugsB we aren't buying any clothes new because he will grow out of them so quickly. We'd much rather recycle and reuse and then pass what we use on to the next family. FB marketplace is proving a god send for clothes haha xxx

pugsB · 28/01/2023 23:08

@TheCakeIsALie18 thats a neat idea! We might go that route too all being well till then. Will also save some space i suppose. Are you also doing it for the 'hardware' like prams/ bathers/ mobiles or toys etc?

Did any of you feel extra exhausted around 10 weeks? I have barely left my bed the last few days. I am getting behind on work as a result and I really can't afford to continue this anymore. I feel fine otherwise. Almost all other symptoms are now much milder but the exhaustion/ sleepiness seems to have ramped up and i now feel it throughout the day rather than just bedtime as it used to be.

pugsB · 28/01/2023 23:09

@Nypie lovely!! such a cutie already ❤️❤️

Nypie · 28/01/2023 23:18

@pugsB aww thanks 🥰🥰. I was just suprised it was more than a dot!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 28/01/2023 23:40

@pugsB we bought new for the main cot in his bedroom and my mum insisted on buying his travel system new so we have a new pram and carseat ISOfix combo. But everything else is secondhand. The small rocking crib in our room, the changing unit, all his clothes, the baby bath, rocker, bouncer etc... I reckon toys will be new as most of the family are likely to buy him stuff.

As for the tiredness. Yep that was my only symptom between weeks 0 and 14. Between weeks 7 and 11 I would get crazy tired at about 10am and have to go and lie down for 20 minutes (lucky to work at home) and then again at 3pm when I would have to sleep for a good 2hrs when I finished work. After week 11 I wasn't quite as tired in the morning but I kept having a sleep at 3pm until 14 weeks.

I've just started having the occasional afternoon snooze again. Xxx

hey everyone 👋🏻

@TheCakeIsALie18 glad everything is well with you and bub! going second hand is a great shout, very savvy. if we end up with a girl then i think we'll get lots of hand-me-downs from friends in terms of clothes as a few of my best friends have had girls and are ready to pass on some bits so that'll be nice!

@pugsB glad to hear most of your symptoms are easing up! it won't be long until you get your energy back i'm sure 🥰

@Nypie congrats on a successful scan! best feeling ever right? ❤️

as for me, all good here! nothing to report really, loving every second of pregnancy and loving seeing and feeling my body start to change now. i'm 18 weeks next week. i have felt pretty tired this week so not sure if baby's having a growth spurt!

Nypie · 29/01/2023 17:40

Hey @eleveneleven11 so so happy right now. My mum does want to come to one of my scans so wondering if I should book a 10 week one as she'll be staying with me around then or wait until after the 12 week one. Can not believe you're 18 weeks already! I've heard only good things about the 2nd trimester.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 29/01/2023 20:46

@eleveneleven11 hey!! I can't believe you're 18 weeks already! That has gone so fast!!! I'm glad it's going so well for you ❤️❤️❤️ do you have much of a bump yet? Xxx

OP posts:
eleveneleven11 · 30/01/2023 07:10

@Nypie i had a private one at about 10 weeks, it was cute and wiggly! i'm so happy for yooouuu!

@TheCakeIsALie18 it is flying by! i wouldn't say i have a bump yet, i can notice a difference but other people wouldn't look at me and know i'm pregnant. i definitely struggle wearing trousers now though - everything still fits but isn't comfortable. living in leggings!

how have you found dressing in pregnancy? i'm a bit of a clothes addict so don't want to just be in jumpers and leggings for the next few months but equally only want to buy clothes that will see me through the whole pregnancy and also ideally beyond x

TheCakeIsALie18 · 30/01/2023 16:54

@eleveneleven11 I live in jeans or leggings an jumpers this time or year, usually. So jumpers are fine by me and I'm also now only living in leggings. I haven't bought any maternity clothes other than one pair of leggings but my normal leggings are more comfy. I will probably grab a couple of maternity shirts and a dress or something for my baby shower next month but if I'm not in leggings I'm in gym kit lol xxx

@eleveneleven11 hey chick... thought I'd give you the update on the anti-D injection...

Had my 28 week bloods done yesterday which you need doing before the injection. Just left the midwife after having it now. I definitely goes in the arm. But it's a little unpleasant. Not horrendous, take it from me, I have panic attacks when it comes to needles. But you can feel the liquid going in. It's quite thick. Makes your arm ache. Had it 10 minutes ago and my arm is easing off. I recommend having it in your non gear stick arm if you drive manual lol xxx

OP posts:
eleveneleven11 · 02/02/2023 10:42

@TheCakeIsALie18 that made my body go weird!! i'm bad with needles too. but in the arm feels doable - had whooping cough this week so getting a dab hand at this haha.

sounds gross but at least that one isn't in the thigh/bum! thanks for the update! hope your arm recovers quickly xx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 02/02/2023 14:15

@eleveneleven11 arm update! It's sore lol. Definitely a yucky injection. The worst bit was definitely feeling to gloopy liquid going in. My arm just feels like it's been punched. It's dead and heavy lol.

When is yours booked in? Xxx
