merry christmas everyone! hope you have a lovely day whether you are celebrating or not 🥰

@TheCakeIsALie18 congrats on your anniversary, it looked beautiful! those milestones are so much more special now knowing it's the last one just the two of you!

@pugsB yay so glad everything is going well so far. i think my symptoms started to kick in at 7/8 weeks which for me was headaches and low energy.

im sorry to hear your dad isn't keeping well ☹️ totally understand what you mean about keeping it quiet until you know whether the pregnancy is viable. i'm sure he will be so over the moon when you tell him though ❤️

Hello all, first of all a happy new year. I wish you nothing but the best for this year!

I have a sad update. I think I am about to miscarry at this point. Sorry for my long post.

I had a bit of spotting at just about 6 weeks which lasted about a day or so followed by some one sided pelvic pain the day before new years' eve and so i called my GP. She told me to go do a US asap to rule out ectopic and also do hcg doubling times. I got in for the US where they ruled out ectopic but couldn't say anything about viability as it was too early. They saw ges sac measuring at 5w5d and a yolk sac but no fetal pole. since i know i ovulated late this timing wasn't too off and the US report did say I was simply too early for viability. I couldn't get into a pathology lab for bloods as they shut down early for new years so I could only go in for that this past week. I had my first beta draw this Tuesday which came back normal range and high enough giving me some hope. I did my second beta hcg which came back last night. There was only about a 10% increase between the two over 3 days. I immediately knew this was it. My husband also mostly agrees but still wants to wait and hold onto hope as he read its possible to have a slow rising beta but I know this is just too low. Unless this is an error this shows a very bleak outlook for viability. I think i am going to go in for another US to confirm this sometime next week. I am 7 +2 today i think. I wish my body was more responsive than it is and I could speed up the process somehow.

In the meantime we have decided to go out to celebrate our little blueberry this weekend and thank it for coming into our lives. Even if its not meant to be which is likely the case, I want to celebrate what we created together and give it a happy send off into the future whatever that might be. I am heart-broken to say the least. I might also be less visible on this thread for the foreseeable future but I will check in at some point to see how all my fav ladies and their bubs-to-be are doing. Thank you for all your support till now! You guys don't know how much that means to me.

eleveneleven11 · 07/01/2023 13:42

@pugsB my heart broke reading your message! what are the next steps for you? can they internally scan you to check for viability and a heartbeat? do you have the option of a private internal scan?
i can't bear the thought of you accepting a miscarriage when it hopefully won't be the case!!
i don't know much about rising hcg levels and what is considered normal but i am really holding out hope for you that everything is ok!! 🤞🏻❤️

TheCakeIsALie18 · 07/01/2023 16:54

@pugsB I cried reading your post. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I have everything crossed that when you go in for your next US they will confirm everything is ok. It's probably not much comfort my my first early US showed that we were only measuring at 5+5 when I was 8+2 and they told me not to get my hopes up. Went back 2 weeks later to find baby had had a massive growth spurt and caught up to proper gestational age. Heartbeat and viability confirmed. It's not much but don't completely let go of hope.

If blueberry wasn't meant to be this time they were still very loved and you will surely get a beautiful rainbow baby soon.

I hope beyond hope that everything goes OK and I hope to hear an update, good or bad, from you soon. Just know that we are all here for you on this journey, regardless of where you are along the way. A lot of us have been through something similar so if you ever need to reach out to an understanding ear, you'll find one here.

Much love sweetie. Xxx

Glad to hear everyone else is progressing nicely 💕

TheCakeIsALie18 · 07/01/2023 20:52

@pugsB I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. But what a wonderful idea to celebrate the little blueberry you have both created. I hope things turn out OK - please let us know- but please take heart that you've come so much further xx

Lovely news @Nypie when are you due?

Nypie · 08/01/2023 14:22

Heya @TheCakeIsALie18 @Hannargh so lovely to hear from you both. I got my BFP on New Years day so 4+2 today. I think I'm due Sept 13/14 got my 2 to 3 on a clear blue 14dpo and my lines look good, Ive been testing twice a day 😳 but have gone down to one and once the tests are done I will stop 🤞.

Can't believe how far along you both are! Do you know the gender/ are going to find out? Any tips and tricks for the first trimester would be welcome!

@Nypie aww what a lovely way to start the new year!

Yeah we are having a little boy. I was hoping for a girl but I still love the little man growing in me. 25+3 weeks down, 14 ish to go. I've got quite a strong core so my bump isn't really a bump lol. Abs are holding him close to my body and when I pull them in tight it just looks like I've put on a bit of weight lol.

I haven't got much in the way of advice for the 1st trimester as I had zero symptoms other than fatigue. 3pm every day I had to take an hour or so nap. So yeah, if you're tired, make sure you sleep!

I'm counting down the days until maternity starts now. 10th March is my last day. The day after my birthday so will be a good weekend haha. Xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 It was a very unexpected suprise we only did it once in the fertile window as we had family round!

I remember now that you wanted a little girl, I've been trying to call mine a boy so I can get used to the idea as I'd love a girl. Congrats on your baby boy! 25 weeks feels like forever awayyy. How many weeks will you be you be when you go on maternity leave?

Im so tired I've barely left my bed today.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 08/01/2023 17:47

@Nypie I'll be 34 weeks when I start maternity. But that's from my full time job. My own sport massage business will be running until I pop lol and then I'll only be having 4 weeks rest and recovery before I have to start it back in again because mat leave pay is so bad lol.

Once is all it takes, we caught after only once haha. Xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 we got his sperm tested and it cause of concern in all categories so this is our little christmas miracle. Though when I think of conception and all the things that can go wrong its all pretty miraculous.

I think I'd go for around that time too, I unlike you will be sitting on my butt watching reruns 😂. Maternity pay is tragic :( If I had my own business I'd be on it aswell.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 08/01/2023 21:06

@Nypie yeah conception and pregnancy is miraculous in general. 1 egg, 1 sperm, 9 month later a tiny human appears. Crazy. I'm glad you got your Christmas miracle. You obviously had a good Christmas 😏😏

Yeah I had to work out exactly how long I could justify taking off. Took a while but we got there. I'm taking all 4 weeks of annual leave for this year up front. So I have 4 weeks at full pay and that takes me up to the weeks before my due date. I then have 6 weeks at 90% pay which gives me some wiggle room if baby comes up to 2 weeks late, then 2-4 week recovery, then I have to get back to it. Can't survive on £156 per week. Xxx

OP posts:
Nypie · 09/01/2023 18:27

@TheCakeIsALie18 I honestly dont know how they expect people to live off that! Mine is standard SMP aswell.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 09/01/2023 19:00

@Nypie I know, honestly it's ridiculous. I pay £500 into our house account each month... leaving me with about £80 ish... my car costs £150...until July. So yeah...... xxx

OP posts:
Hannargh · 09/01/2023 21:44

Hey everyone. We just found out the sex at our scan today but we've decided to keep it quiet until baby arrives because it shouldn't make any difference (but I know my husband's mum is a little too desperate to know). It also makes it easier for us to pick out a name!
But the scan was all good and baby is growing completely normally, which I'm relieved about as I still don't feel particularly bump-y!
Have you given any thought to names yet @TheCakeIsALie18 ?
In my head I'm working up to 38 weeks but that might be a little ridiculous and I may have to take some annual leave before then. I'm really lucky with my job as I get six months full pay and 3 months SMP so I know I don't need to rush back. But it's unusual for anywhere to be that generous it seems, sadly.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 09/01/2023 22:13

@Hannargh I'm glad everything is going well! My bump didn't really pop until about 15/16 weeks ish. I've got a strong core though, so that is holding everything in lol. It won't be long till you pop!

We are calling him Charles Andrew. Charles is my dad's middle name and Andrew is my husband's late dad's name. It will be Charlie for everyday use ❤️

Omg wow 6 months of full pay! That's incredible. Not gunna lie, I'm very jealous 🤣 I have to start working, at most, 4 weeks after baby arrives because I just can't afford anything. So 4 weeks of downtime to adjust to baby's arrival and then back to massaging. We are lucky though because I both my husband and I work from home. So when I'm not with a client I will "off". Xxx

OP posts:
Hannargh · 10/01/2023 17:16

@TheCakeIsALie18 those are lovely names - my husband is called Andrew so I may be a little biased there.

That's good that you're both able to work from home- hopefully it will all work out that you can still keep an eye on Charlie as well as get some income back! Returning after 4 weeks sounds tough- I feel like I'll barely know what's going on by then!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 10/01/2023 22:35

@Hannargh haha thanks. We think Charlie is a pretty cute name and he has an "adult version" for when he gets a little older if he wishes to use Charles instead. I like the name Andrew but we didn't like it as a first name hence why we decided to make it him middle name instead lol.

I know. I'm dreading having to start work again so quickly. Especially doing sports massage, it's really physically demanding. I break a sweat with most clients.
I'll only be taking back my regulars to begin with. They've been with me since before pregnancy and have been super supportive so even if I need to take it slow or have a rest halfway through, I'm sure they will be fine with it. I'm currently trying to decide on when to stop taking new clients. I'm thinking middle/end of Feb. But not sure yet. Xxx

Hello all, I am heartened by all the good wishes and support @eleveneleven11 @TheCakeIsALie18 @Hannargh @Nypie ! I love you guys ❤️ ❤️. My blueberry is well cared for!

I have come with good news. My scan today (7+5) showed a fetus with hr of 149 bpm! i was sooo relieved that i burst out crying in the sonography room. I was convinced i would see an empty sac or low heart rate. I am measuring a few days behind based on fetus size and a whole week and a half behind based on ges sac so there is discrepancy in gestational sac and fetus (my ges sac seems to be growing slowly, has any one heard of this being an issue?) so i may not be out of the woods completely but it was such a relief nevertheless. Google says it could be a major red flag but my US report doesn't specifically mention this as a problem. I have my first OB appointment next week so maybe they will be able to tell me more.

Many congratulations to @Nypie on the bfp! Its such a wonderful feeling when you realize your body can do this! Very very happy for you and wish you a stress-free and healthy rest of pregnancy!

TheCakeIsALie18 · 12/01/2023 22:31

@pugsB I'm so happy to hear this good news!!! Like I said, we were measuring nearly 2 weeks behind at our first early scan and then after a couple weeks of eating he caught up and now all is normal. I'm so hoping this is happens to you too.

Stay positive. You're doing so well ❤️❤️❤️

I'm going to post this link here. After my miscarriage I used this chart every single day to help ease my mind. Look how far you've come already xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 yes you did! thank you! i hope your words ring true. May i ask was your gestational sac size and CRL giving you similar age estimates even if both were behind, if you remember?

I am a worrier even in the best of times and the pregnancy seems to have pushed me over the edge 🫣. Also I am a scientist by profession and simply cannot stop reading any and all journal articles I can get a hold of covering sonography findings in early pregnancy! We have decided to tell our folks this weekend. If anything this experience made me feel sooo helpless and I realized i need support. So I am telling my mom and dad and my in-laws. I no longer care about things going south and then having to manage everyone. I just want to get all the support I can as and when i need it! I already told my sister and that felt so good but all she knows is that I could be miscarrying. So we will surprise all of them more or less!

Glad to know all is well with everyone! lots of love to all 💜💜

TheCakeIsALie18 · 12/01/2023 23:36

@pugsB yes support is definitely key!!! Enjoy it. Whatever the outcome. Have your nearest and dearest there to support you as and when you need it.

I'm the same, I worry a lot and suffer with a bit of anxiety. Reading journals and factual info is how I overcome it and get to grips with whatever may be happening. I'm doing the same now looking into all things labour. Knowledge is power.

As for all the measurements, yes everything was measuring behind. The sonographer said to prepare ourselves. We went in at 8+3 and everything measured at 6+2 or there abouts. They invited us back at 10+5 and he has caught up. Heartbeat was normal and everything looked positive. Xxx
