Can’t believe we’re onto a second thread already. Hope this doesn’t put any newbies off, as I don’t think we’re even halfway through possible due dates yet. Anyone welcome to join in.

I wanted to start off by reassuring TheBirdintheCave that I have no nausea either and had none whatsoever all through my last pregnancy. Thinking of you and hoping your current fears turn out to be for nothing. xx

@Sjw30 it will make it a lovely Christmas all being well won't it! We couldn't keep it quiet any longer, my family would definitely notice me not drinking. I've already had 2 Christmas do's I've had to make excuses for not drinking at, no idea if people suspected anything

Sjw30 · 12/12/2022 10:10

@Desperatelyboredhousewife yes it sure will 🤞what date is your scan? I avoided my do completely 🙈 mainly because I’d just found out that morning and my emotions were everywhere.

Alpacabag22 · 12/12/2022 10:58

Hope everyone is keeping well 💛

I'm just past 6 weeks and already finding the nausea is hitting pretty hard. I'm feeling it as soon as I as wake up till afternoon. Thankfully so far it seems to ease in afternoons and evening so I can at least eat dinner. But mornings are miserable.

I'm trying ginger ale, ginger tea, plain toast crackers and I've got my anti sickness travel bands on all day. I've always be really prone to motion sickness so maybe I'm just destined to be nauseous!

Would love to hear any other suggestions? Also wondering when it's appropriate to speak to GP about it? Do they only prescribe something if it gets to the point where you can't keep anything down?

Thanks 😊

TheBirdintheCave · 12/12/2022 11:02

@Alpacabag22 I try and stay as still as possible as it's worse when I'm moving about. Also eat little and often. I've had two small breakfasts so far.

BCxx · 12/12/2022 12:17

@Sjw30 I think avoiding it completely could be the easiest option 🙈 I have one this weekend and one next but as it’s the night before Christmas Eve and we have a Santa visit booked the next day I think I’m just going to say I’m driving to that early the next morning so don’t see the point drinking and being hungover. The one this weekend I have no clue what my excuse is going to be! I think at times it could be easier just to pretend you’re drinking and go and switch it for a non alcoholic drink every so often. People don’t actually notice or care what you’re drinking but they might notice if I announce that I’m not 😂

QueenBee22 · 12/12/2022 12:36

@Alpacabag22 I needed anti nausea meds on my first pregnancy. I was vomiting but not all the time so keeping some food down. Discuss with your GP. I took the meds first thing in the morning. They were brilliant for helping me get through work. Then the nausea would start again in the evening but at least I could go to work. .

Hoping I'll escape the nausea this time but I'm.only 4 weeks so I'm expecting it around the 6 to 8 week mark!

BusyBushBaby · 12/12/2022 12:41

Had an early scan today at 6+2. It showed a healthy looking embryo with heartbeat measuring 6+3.... and a second gestational sac tucked away behind the first. The second sac contained a yolk sac but foetal pole couldn't be clearly seen.

I'm thinking it's probably a vanishing twin but the doctor said it's possible not much was visible due to it's position, so we might be looking at two babies.

Sjw30 · 12/12/2022 12:42

@BCxx oh yes people certainly notice if you’re not drinking! The Santa visit Is a great excuse for next weekend though!

ChloeN · 12/12/2022 12:48

@BusyBushBaby fab news about the scan, how exciting that it might be twins ☺️

Sjw30 · 12/12/2022 12:51

@BusyBushBaby glad the scan went ok and very exciting about possible twins!

BoodifulGoose · 12/12/2022 13:07

@BusyBushBaby so glad scan went well! How you feeling about possible twins?!

somuchtolearnabout · 12/12/2022 14:15

@BoodifulGoose Sorry just catching up from last night and if you're worried about symptoms, I have absolutely NONE. Zero. Zilch. No symptoms whatsoever. Didn't have any with either of my boys so I'm not concerned, and I had very easy pregnancies with them so very much hoping this goes the same way. Please don't be worried about that, no symptoms are just as normal as lots of symptoms!

PumpkinEverything · 12/12/2022 14:23

Oh my @BusyBushBaby possible twins! Will you have to wait until 12 weeks to find out or will you have another scan?

TheBirdintheCave · 12/12/2022 14:30

@BusyBushBaby Congrats on the good scan! And wow, twins!

somuchtolearnabout · 12/12/2022 14:30

@BCxx We had 2 under 2 (21 months between the boys) and the youngest will be almost 2.5 when this one is born. We bought a bugaboo donkey when pregnant with DS2, sold it a few months after he was born having used it a grand total of two times 😂 so we ended up just getting a yo-yo with the bassinet for when he was little, and a big single bugaboo for days out and got buggy boards for them both, then just a cheap Joie double which again we've barely used. I really thought I'd use the double buggy loads but my eldest honestly just uses his scooter or the buggy board so I'd be careful about getting an expensive double in case yours ends up being the same.

@BusyBushBaby Oh wow maybe twins! I've weirdly heard of this a few times recently when people have had early scans. I think if you only get scanned at 12w the vanishing twin has already been absorbed so you'd be none the wiser, but it's still so wild to me. Is it your first baby? How do you feel about potential twins!!

somuchtolearnabout · 12/12/2022 14:39

Wasn't there someone in this thread who really wanted twins? Can't remember who it was!

Also I've added myself to the fb group. Aaaaand I'm all caught up ✌🏼

ChloeN · 12/12/2022 14:44

@somuchtolearnabout I don’t think it was me who said it but I wouldn’t say no to twins, I’d be over the moon🤣

BoodifulGoose · 12/12/2022 14:49

@somuchtolearnabout that does really help, thank you 🥰🥰 It's the first thing everyone asks and I'm like "eh I'm tired and my boob's hurt sometimes" but other than that wouldn't even know I don't think, so that's reassuring to hear!

@somuchtolearnabout @ChloeN I've been getting teased about twins for years now by my fiance's family but now I'm at the point that I actually want them, would be great to get the two kids we want done in one pregnancy 😂

ChloeN · 12/12/2022 14:52

@BoodifulGoose do you think if you did have twins you’d only have those 2? I think if by some miracle this pregnancy is twins we’d still have 1 more, just to do it all again 🤣

BusyBushBaby · 12/12/2022 15:11

Tbh I've had multiple miscarriages previously so I'm more worried about at least one making it to term than having twins. I'll have another scan in a couple of weeks so all will become clear with time...

BoodifulGoose · 12/12/2022 15:13

@ChloeN yeah think that would be me if I had twins, although If they were two boys I could see me doing the "oh we'll just try for a girl" and ending up with enough boys for my own 5-aside 😂

But think 2 is probably our limit! Can fit 2 car seats in easy, 3 becomes a task! Also (maybe selfishly) we want to be able to get to travelling when kids are late teen early 20's, the more we have the later that gets for us. And harder as more gets more expensive 😂

Alpacabag22 · 12/12/2022 15:16

Thanks @QueenBee22 that's good to hear that GP was able to help. It's my first time and I was worried that I'm over-reacting but sounds like it may be worth calling them. Don't fancy feeling thos rough for another 6 or more weeks!

@PumpkinEverything yep, my current motto is snack like a squirrel! Lying down seems to help so perhaps i just need to work from bed!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 12/12/2022 15:23

Hi, I hope it is okay to join thread. I think I am about 4 weeks pregnant now, NHS expected date 23.08.23.I have been getting a lot of mild cramps but no other symptoms so definitely starting to worry a little.
Congratulations to all of you :)

I’ve not been around the last day or so as my little boy is ill. Luckily I’m not suffering too much with pregnancy symptoms or I’d be really struggling to take care of him today.

Hope everyone is doing OK and welcome to all those who are new.

For anyone worried about August-borns being the youngest in their year, it should be possible to defer entry now if you choose. This link is from where we live in Herts: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/schools-and-education/school-admissions/primary-junior-and-middle-schools/summer-born-children-starting-school.aspx I’m already planning to do this with my May-born.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations!!
If it makes you feel better when I was pregnant with my son in 2019 I had no symptoms! Not one! This time I'm nauseated constantly and sore boobs so it's totally different and I'm more stressed this time round 😂
