Can’t believe we’re onto a second thread already. Hope this doesn’t put any newbies off, as I don’t think we’re even halfway through possible due dates yet. Anyone welcome to join in.

I wanted to start off by reassuring TheBirdintheCave that I have no nausea either and had none whatsoever all through my last pregnancy. Thinking of you and hoping your current fears turn out to be for nothing. xx

@TheBirdintheCave oh the nausea you poor thing!
@buttercupbee i wish I could say I've got the hunger too, at least that would explain the bloat and me looking like I've eaten a big meal all the time 😂

I'm so exhausted at the moment too, I fell asleep this afternoon and I'm struggling with my normal exercise, I've had to cut it down and go for lighter workouts as I'm so tired. I really hope I get my energy back after the first trimester 🤞

LMM91x · 10/12/2022 17:47

Happpy saturday ladies… i hope we are all well 💕. Sorry to see people struggling, I completely understand MN can be a blessing and a curse as @somuchtolearnabout says!! It’s a panicky time in general and all we can do is wait and hope for the best!

anyone got big plans for the footy! Xxxx

Chocolotandtea · 10/12/2022 17:49

@mollibu im so sorry to hear this ❤️

Sjw30 · 10/12/2022 17:53

@LMM91x designated driver for my partner 🤣-I am quite happy staying in, I think I’ve gone into hibernation mode. You?

TheBirdintheCave · 10/12/2022 17:55

@marleyandme It's not a patch on how bad it was with my son but I'm so happy to finally have it 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 10/12/2022 17:56

@LMM91x I will be lying on the sofa watching it whilst my husband cooks tea 😂 I love football but he is ambivalent towards it.

LMM91x · 10/12/2022 18:11

@Sjw30 @TheBirdintheCave ABSOLUTELY SAME GIRLS - hibernation is fine with me from now onwards 🤣🤣 do not want to leave and go into the cold (though my house isn’t exactly bloody warm atm!!!)

i have lunch tomorrow with my mum and auntie - mum knows, not ready to tell auntie yet and i just KNOW she’ll give me shit for not drinking… so bloody annoying. Going to pretend i’m hungover from a wild football night now when in fact i’m in my pjamas on the sofa with a hot water bottle 🤣🤣🤣

Sjw30 · 10/12/2022 18:49

@LMM91x hungover is always a excuse!

sally16 · 10/12/2022 19:05

Hows did the work night outs go for everyone? Mines was shit, I was nauseous and the food was crap and my lemonade was funky... 2/10 went home at 9 😂

CityKity · 10/12/2022 19:08

Hey ladies it’s been a while! I stepped back a bit too for a while.
Is anyone else not getting an early scan? I feel like a bit of an outlier on this thread.
I don’t have that many symptoms - not sure if I should be concerned. Just a slight lack of appetite and bloated so feel bigger than usual, but DH says it’s all in my head!
Managed to get through two Christmas parties drinking G&Ts (without the G), which was surprisingly easy, but tiring staying up late as if I was drinking!
Finally got my booking appointment in for 28th, which is slightly bad timing as will have to travel back early but exciting to get the ball rolling - any previous mums know what to expect from this apt? It says it could be 1.5hrs! I think I’ll be between 7-8w based on LMP.

ellie0605 · 10/12/2022 19:17

@CityKity at your booking they should take your full medical and social history, take routine blood tests, talk to you about birth place options, recommendations for dos and don'ts in pregnancy, talk about schedule of care etc. they will do lots of risk assessments and discuss any necessary referrals with you to plan your care

PumpkinEverything · 10/12/2022 19:19

@sally16 the cold I have became my excuse for not going 😂🙈 honestly wasn’t up for it anyway as my eyes were constantly streaming and I’d sat with tissues up my nose all day! It also did/has snowed and was minus temperatures so didn’t fancy driving in that. Have made my husband promise we can go soon so I can get the chocolate fudge cake they sell as it’s my favourite!

@CityKity i would say feeling bloated probably isn’t in your head. It def is a pregnancy symptom. All my clothes fit the same, I weigh the same, but I feel like I’ve put on about 3 stone in a week and just feel ugh! I have had that 1.5 hour long booking appointment (but didn’t have it until I was 12 weeks and it was after my scan), but honestly can’t remember what they asked. I think it’s a lot about you and your family medical history, and your partners. And also any risk factors of jobs people do. Also asked about how your diet and exercise is maybe as I remember having to say I was vegetarian.

SnowL2021 · 10/12/2022 20:10

@CityKity I don’t remember much about my booking appointment with my son, but I do remember the midwife taking quite a few vials’ worth of blood (I hate needles!). Dreading the blood tests this time round! Can’t remember the apt lasting a whole 90 minutes, but perhaps it did.

Sorry to read about those struggling at the moment. Every day passes so slowly, doesn’t it. I have yet to develop nausea (which I had at this time with my son)… trying to remind myself that every pregnancy is different. I have an early scan booked for next week.. though I know it’ll only (hopefully) offer temporary reassurance before I then stress again until the 12-week scan!

Amme18 · 10/12/2022 20:12

@somuchtolearnabout I joined a MN thread for pregnancy with DS which turned into a fb group and then messenger for night feeds, eventually down to just 5 of us who speak everyday and have met up, DS now 3 and a half. The girl have been such an amazing support through so much.

But agree on the bad days sometimes it can be triggering rather than helpful, you just have to step back when you need to!

Nausea kicked in with a vengeance today, it’s not gone away all day, and the bloat has been here the whole time - feels awful! It’s to do with progesterone and slowing down of digestive system!

somuchtolearnabout · 10/12/2022 20:22

@Amme18 That's so lovely! MN is a very strange place the majority of the time. I'm almost certain that most people on here are totally different in real life but the fertility boards definitely do bring a lot of likeminded people together. I will definitely dip in & out of the thread depending on my mood as like everyone else, certain conversations can be triggering for me. That's fine though, use it how you please!

somuchtolearnabout · 10/12/2022 20:27

@CityKity As it's your first baby it will probably take a while as they'll want to go through your medical history etc. For those of you on your second pregnancies, it will probably be a lot shorter. For the most part, they really don't give much of a shit about you when you've done it all before. They've got all your notes from your previous pregnancy and unless something has changed it's a pretty quick appointment (well mine was anyway). DS2 was born during lockdown so I'm not sure if it was that or the fact it was my second baby but I had two midwife appts (which were both f2f) my entire pregnancy. TWO!

Sjw30 · 10/12/2022 20:28

Sorry if this has been covered. Do partners need to come to the first booking appointment?

TheBirdintheCave · 10/12/2022 20:36

@Sjw30 I can't remember if my husband wasn't allowed to come to that one or not. I know there's one appointment in which they ask questions to establish whether a woman is at risk or not so they don't want husbands there.

Sjw30 · 10/12/2022 20:39

@TheBirdintheCave ah okay I see. I will ask when I arrange a booking appointment thank you

Amme18 · 10/12/2022 20:40

@TheBirdintheCave yes booking app they have to ask you about DV and anything that might flag up safeguarding concerns!

marleyandme · 10/12/2022 21:09

So my appointment letter says it'll be only 20 minutes and they'll take blood and discuss optional screening with me for various conditions. I'm a bit confused as I was expecting a longer appointment around an hour like the NHS website says 🤔
I guess maybe that'll be a separate appointment later?

buttercupbee · 10/12/2022 21:14

@Sjw30 it might be different depending where you live but I asked the midwife if my husband should come with me to my booking appointment. She said it’s entirely up to me if I want him there for support but he doesn’t need to be there x

Alexandra07 · 10/12/2022 21:23

Hi everyone, I am 5w+2d today. I just can't believe that it's actually happening! I am even hesitant to call my GP!(I have to book blood tests) It has been a very long way to this bfp. I had a mc/chemical in January. I read that the chances of having two mc is extremely low so fingers cross this one will stick. I will probably relax only after my 20w scan!

Congratulations to everyone! I am sorry to hear that some of you have spotting and understandably you worry. I hope everything turns out fine!

@CityKity I will not get an early scan. My milestone is the 12w scan and the nipt results. If everything looks good, then I can announce it to my daughter. I would like her to tell the need to our family. Although I doubt I can hide it for so long! I feel so bloated!

I self referred to my local hospital, I got my appointments the next day, they use an online portal now. My scan is at 12w and midwife appointment at 8w.

Just a different point of view about bringing children to private scans discussed before. The chances that something is not right are low, but not zero. I doubt that the sonographer will want to deliver any bad news in front of a child, and if the partner goes out with the DC, then you're left alone to discuss the bad news.

AnnieApple123 · 10/12/2022 21:28

@tallgirl232 and @TheBirdintheCave sorry you’ve been struggling so. I’m finding this stage really hard too. Not had any colour-tinged discharge since Thursday now but am constantly on knicker-watch and terrified of going to the loo. I had a very vivid dream last night that I was staying away in a hotel by myself (which is unheard of these days) and suddenly started bleeding loads. Was rushing around trying to find a local EPU.

@CityKity I’m still in two minds about an early scan. I never had one with DS. In fact my first one then wasn’t until 13+2.

Alexandra07 · 10/12/2022 21:28

@Sjw30 I think that partners can get time off for the two scans. They don't need to come to the first appointment which is with the midwife. The midwife will ask questions to check you are safe at home and I imagine at that point she can ask anyone else accompanying you to wait outside. My letter didn't say anything about going by myself.
