Ymi but the discharge situation.....I don't usually suffer with it but its been a lot the last week It doesn't smell and it's pretty clear/white is this OK?

Also think they are going to admit Me tomorrow at midwife app because I haven't eaten since new years and I can't even keep water down I feel really dizzy when I stand up great start to 2023!

Dreamingof3 · 02/01/2023 18:05

@Babynum2 definitely sounds like you could do with some fluids, hope you're feeling better soon x

allthingssparkly · 02/01/2023 18:43

Happy new year ladies!

I can't believe we will be having our babies in a matter of few months 😍 it still seems surreal to me!

I have been sorting baby clothes this afternoon and ordering decor bits for baby's nursery.

31 weeks today, struggling with a horrendous chesty cough and cold so hopefully that subsides as I haven't slept properly for 3 days 😩

havanamama · 02/01/2023 19:58

I really hope we are all feeling healthy and strong in about 8 weeks time ready to push the babies out! ❤️

I’ve been just laying down, reading books, and trying to cure this cold today. Ugh 😩

TeddyBeans · 02/01/2023 20:22

@havanamama this is exactly why I've started maternity leave now - I'm sure the germbags I work with would have kept me topped up with bugs and germies all the way up to birth otherwise! I've literally just gotten over the last cold they gave me - I've been constantly poorly for about 7 weeks now. Ready for a break 😂

OP posts:
AK93 · 02/01/2023 20:33

@TeddyBeans germbags 😆 they literally are though!! I'm hoping most of my lot have got it all out the way so I don't get anything from them! Around 20ish days left of work 🤞 I will manage! My boyfriend decided he has a sore throat though so also hoping he keeps that to himself!

AK93 · 02/01/2023 20:46

Thank you all for baby shower responses - I had thought of one but wasn't sure, so when family said they wanted to I thought why not... I aim for it to be more of a get together than present giving ceremony (will say on invites there is no obligation to get gifts etc) but think it will be nice to do something to celebrate, could do with some positivity and we had a very quiet Christmas & new year so it's a chance to see those we haven't! I'm a bit more relaxed about the possibly mismatched theme now just had to have a cry and a moment!

As for mother in law question someone else asked - my partner's mum will be invited but might not be in the country when we do it and she's made comments about gender reveals etc so shouldn't be sad if she can't make it as it seems she doesn't care for those sort of events anyway!

I do think it's a funny one where we can be unsure but obviously if somebody says they will or want to do one for you and you're not against it you want it to happen and be nice! Lol

I totally understand they are not for everyone! I've only been to one but did enjoy it x

Questions for the non-FTMs:
did PGP make your labour harder?
I find it painful to spread my legs when getting out of a car or bed, so finding it alarming when thinking of giving birth, which obviously requires to have legs apart 🥲😄

TeddyBeans · 02/01/2023 21:43

@AK93 eek tell your other half to keep his germies to himself! 😱 I managed not to give any of my illnesses to DP or DS so it's definitely possible!! Glad to hear you're feeling better about the baby shower too ❤️

@havanamama I don't remember having pgp last time so my answer might be null and void but you don't actually spend that much of labour legs akimbo. It's only when you get down to the pushing part by which point you'll be so involved in the process that you won't feel much besides the contractions anyway. Plus there's always drugs to numb the pain 👌

OP posts:
iratepirate · 02/01/2023 21:56

I had terrible PGP last time and was advised by the lady running our online antenatal classes to find the position I could comfortably spread knees to before it hurt, and to tie a piece of string or wool etc around at the “limit”, and then to bring that with me for the labour so that in case I had to have an epidural and then would be able to use it to know how far I could comfortably go in that position without doing any damage. I don’t know if this was just the woman’s advice or if it’s a good idea generally. Luckily I didn’t have to have any epidural etc when it came to it.

I have no idea how I’ve managed to get this far without any awful pain, just a little discomfort.

Thankfully felt plenty of movement by the time we got back to the car today, so I’m feeling less concerned now.

TeddyBeans · 02/01/2023 22:00

@iratepirate glad to hear little one started playing ball 😊 nice trick about the string though!

Splashh · 02/01/2023 22:51

My SIL is organising a baby shower and gender reveal for me, I’ve helped with a few bits like organising food but that’s just cos I’m a control freak 😂 and we are doing it mixed so hubbys friends are involved too. Will be doing games, finger food and then the reveal…
Also not keen on the gift opening so we aren’t doing that and instead just set up an Amazon gift registry for people who want to buy gifts (lots of choice for stuff and they send it direct to you!).

Wresh32 · 02/01/2023 23:35

Hello, I am due in March 2023 (expecting first child). I don’t know if it’s normal or not but recently I’ve been panicking about everything including gender of baby, especially as I’ve started to buy clothes etc.
I’ve been comparing scans and still don’t feel convinced about the gender (confirmed boy). Very first scan looks like a girl but the potty shot looks like a boy, so I’m a little confused!
Thoughts would be welcomed please :)

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 02/01/2023 23:43

@havanamama i had PGP with babies 1 and 2 (bizarrely seem to have largely avoided this time) and was really worried about the leg range point. Midwife said to measure comfortable range between knees and put in birth notes. I ended up giving birth on all fours in birth pool
in the end which was great as water really helped support. (So did that again the second time!)

Speaking of labour I can’t stop thinking about it! We are 1h 10 mins from
nearest hospital and my number 2 was born less than an hour after leaving home (in a different house/hospital!) For those on the third or more what were the lengths of your first and second labours?

Wow that's quick!

My baby is a first child and we are only 17min drive away from 2 of the nearest hospitals luckily.

GreenIsle · 03/01/2023 06:28

This is my 3rd baby also. My 1st labour was 8 hours and 2nd was around 3 hours, but the hospital sent me home because they didn't believe I was far along enough and by the time I got home I was ready to start pushing. I just about made it to a different closer hospital and baby came within 30 minutes of arrival. This has scared me a little for this next birth at just how fast the last one progressed I thought baby was going to arrive in the car.

I have also seemed to have developed mild pgp with this pregnancy and I never had it before, likely because of of close this is to my last baby (just turned 1). Just looked at some advice for this online and following this.

alotoftutus · 03/01/2023 06:52

@Thirdtimesacharm3 my first was 4 hours, second 1hr 13, third 45 minutes, and forth 2 hours 52.
This is all from first contraction to baby 🤦🏽‍♀️ if home birth isn't an option it is probably worth you heading to the hospital as soon as things kick off rather than leaving it until contractions are closer together.

alotoftutus · 03/01/2023 06:56

@Wresh32 your potty shot definitely looks like a boy. I've got boys and girls and girls have three lines, yours looks very penis like to me. Could you get a private scan or blood test even to put your mind at ease?

I think it is normal to start worrying about everything- especially with your first. Hormones are everywhere and your life is about to completely change.

Talk to us when you need to not long to go now xxx

Blocklynn · 03/01/2023 07:53

@alotoftutus well your birth times scare me, we’re at least 45 minutes from the hospital 🙈😂

I find it painful to spread my legs when getting out of a car or bed, so finding it alarming when thinking of giving birth, which obviously requires to have legs apart 🥲😄

I actually didn’t have PGP last pregnancy but the posistion they put my legs into in theatre for an emergency forceps rotation totally split my pelvis apart - and I couldn’t walk for 2 weeks. The pain of labour tho will be alot worse than PGP so you won’t even think about it you will just want the baby out. This time I’ve had crippling PGP from 17 weeks from the damage they did first time round. So id say for recovery after birth and subsequent pregnancies, just be very mindful and write in your birth plan how far you want your legs to go. If there’s an emergency and they put your legs in stirrups re iterate again that they can’t be too wide. This is especially important if you go theatre and need a spinal. In my case spinal was done in theatre and then I couldn’t feel my legs or anything and they just wacked them into stirrups so the damage was done but I also had a baby too large for my pelvis that was stuck. This time around, even tho I’m getting an elective C section I’ll be making sure they are careful with my legs / pelvis positioning as it can really aggravate PGP following birth x

@Wresh32 definitely a boy. Even in the first scan his head is very boxy - classic boy skull

@Blondewave that sounds awful I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Fingers crossed the drs look after you properly this time 🤞

Thank you - yes it was 12 years ago now and I’m still traumatised from it. That wasn’t even the half of it 🥴😅 hoping it goes better this time - Anxiety is very bad already about it as it took me even 12 years to contemplate another child & I’m so scared of going into labour before my c section date. Is anyone else anxious after having a baby before? X

TeddyBeans · 03/01/2023 09:51

@Blondewave probably best to repost your last post on the next thread lovely, I wouldn't want you to not get any responses 😘
