I’m up 22lb at 30+4! More than I’d like to be, but I wasn’t sick once in the first trimester and eating carbs is the only way I could stop the nausea, so I did that all day every day 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m measuring with a lot of fluid so I’m hoping a good chunk of that will be baby plus fluid 🙈

This was exactly my experience, some nausea but all I wanted was carbs so I ate them!

In case it’s re-assuring to anyone reading this thread I‘ve put on more than most on here. At 25weeks I had put on ca 10kgs already and now - a month after - surely even more. I‘ve raised this as a concern with my midwife since I started with a slightly raised BMI already but she says I look healthy and they generally refuse to weigh anyone unless they don’t fit through the door anymore 😂😂😂
I won’t weigh myself anymore until after birth when I need to know how much I need to loose to get back into a healthy BMI range but to my mind right now weighing doesn’t serve any purpose as you are not supposed to count calories or loose weight anyway, so it worries me unecessarily. It‘s tough topic, sending love to all of you ladies! x

@JG24 I can't remember the brand I have but the nappy lady website is good for advice and has a few different brands to choose from, giving really good descriptions of the pros/cons of different brands. You can buy off her website too.
When I dig mine out over the next couple of weeks I'll try and see if there's a label on them and let you know.
I also use reusable pads/period pants normally and used washable maternity pads, but I did have a couple of packs of the disposable ones for the first couple of days. As @TeddyBeans said, I had a similar experience of postpartum bleeding in that after about 3/4 days it wasn't exceptionally heavy, just prolonged. Kind of like mid-period days sort of flow, but for weeks.
I'll be trying to get by with similar this time. One pack of disposables maybe and then just my normal reusable period pads and the slightly bigger reusable postpartum ones. They're SO much comfier than the disposables!

How did you find the smell with reusables/ period pants? I find post partum bleeding has a very distinct smell. Not an infection but very distinct. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been kicking around for 10 months!!

diamondbutterfly · 29/12/2022 09:01

Is there a Facebook page for babies due in March? Technically I’m due 1 April but hope to be March. I have found in previous pregnancies it is easier to keep track of posts on the Facebook page

havanamama · 29/12/2022 11:17

Is it true you can’t have gel/shellac nails when giving birth? Surely that’s a myth right?

havanamama · 29/12/2022 11:18

Also anyone feeling Braxton Hicks yet?

Im a FTM, and at all hospital appointments/visits I get asked now if I’ve felt any contractions. I say no, but I actually don’t know what that should feel like. Like period pains?

iratepirate · 29/12/2022 12:07

I feel like a tightening across my stomach sometimes. I’ve no idea what BH feels like but did wonder the other day if it was that.

Contractions for me last time just felt like period pains for about a day. I remember sitting at my desk and being unable to get comfortable. They did get steadily heavier and closer together but we’d been told to leave it as late as possible to go in so I managed at home for as long as I could.

I just changed them everytime I went to the loo; perhaps every hour or so. I didn’t notice the smell being too bad.

havanamama · 29/12/2022 12:28

I felt a tightening around my stomach as well today for the first time, it lasted about 20 seconds and then didn’t happen again, so was not sure if that’s BH of just me or baby moving.

No I think it's true. I can't remember the exact reason but it's something to do with blood - maybe oxygen levels?

TeddyBeans · 29/12/2022 13:28

I think I've been mistaking BH for baby rolling. If it is, for me it feels like they push right up against your tummy and stay there for a while so it feels tight but not painful

OP posts:
iratepirate · 29/12/2022 13:30

@TeddyBeans that’s what I think I’ve been feeling, too.

The nail shellac situation is true and jewellery but I was always under the impression its incase you need to go I to theatre for emergency Csection. I had shellac last 2 times and they said nothing to me though. I have lightning crouch today it takes my breath away a bit this how you know we are getting so close! 31 weeks sunday it's gone so so fast in my eyes.

LittleAcorn20 · 29/12/2022 18:33

@diamondbutterfly I know what you mean about the distinct smell. I found no difference in the effect that disposables v reusables had on the smell myself. I think you have to change.both quite frequently to avoid the paranoia about the smell... Which I'm sure it is paranoia but it is definitely a weird one! You've reminded me of it actually, horrible! Kind of dreading the postpartum 'glamour' 😬

Rose429 · 29/12/2022 18:48

Just going through the baby clothes we have and I feel like I need some more. Any advice is appreciated! First baby so I don’t know what to expect really.

New born:
3 short-sleeves vests
3 sleep suits

0-1 months:
3 sleep suits (These look the same size as 0-3 months though)

0-3 months:
14 vests
5 sleep suits

Babynum2 · 29/12/2022 18:49

@Rose429 maybe get another pack of new born or up to 1 month vests and grows

TeddyBeans · 29/12/2022 18:56

@Rose429 this is what I have so far

1x small baby vests
1x first size outfit

5x up to 1 month vests
4x up to 1 month rompers
5x up to 1 month sleep suits

8x 0-3 vests
2x 0-3 rompers
2x 0-3 jackets/cardigans
2x 0-3 outfit
6x 0-3 sleep suits
4x 0-3 hats

Some of the stuff is leftover from DS and I don't expect to use all of them (the up to one month rompers for example) but I didn't want to chuck them until I was sure we were done with them

That’s great thank you! I have accepted the invitation!

Babynum2 · 29/12/2022 19:38

I have a lot of clothes because I kept all my prem baby stuff from DS. I have about 10 babygrows/outfits/ vests in each age group (prem, tiny, newborn & 0-3) 2 snowsuits, 3 cardigans and then lots of socks and hats!

Dreamingof3 · 29/12/2022 20:01

I've got a random collection of bits I've picked up...mostly up to 1 month with some newborn and 0-3 thrown in. My sister in law had a baby 3 months ago so is giving me all her stuff for me to go through as well so probably won't need to get much more

I have my 28 week growth scan tomorrow, what are peoples babies weighing at this point?

TeddyBeans · 29/12/2022 20:12

@Dreamingof3 I didn't have a 28 week scan but the babycentre app says around 2.2lbs at 28 weeks. My fundal height measurement put little lady at around 4lbs at 29 weeks 😂 I have a 32 week scan on the 4th so will see how that compares

OP posts:
havanamama · 29/12/2022 20:24

@Dreamingof3 my baby was 1.6kg (80th centile) at 29+5 scan

AK93 · 29/12/2022 20:25

@Dreamingof3 I had my growth scan today and estimated weight for my boy is 3lb! (Or I think roughly 1.3kg?) Consultant said it's normal but I think more toward the bigger end..28w4d so closer to 29w now but fundal height was around 31w at my 28w appt. Glucose test apparently ok but I will be trying to get better foods in and less carbs and sugar!

He's showing off a bit with his movement tonight but not for the camera!!

TeddyBeans · 29/12/2022 20:36

@AK93 DD does this! As soon as I try to record her antics she stops. Same as when DP tries to feel her. She's such a moobag 😂
