It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

@Rowanandremy yeah the tiredness is hard to figure out! I’m just back at work a month now too, and also only back in the office for the first time since Covid. I’m not used to the early mornings! Thankfully I’m only working 3 days a week until January (and 2 are at home), then I’ll increase to 4 days (2 in the office and 2 at home), and then I’ll be full time in April (3 days in office, 2 at home). Mad to think though I’ll only be doing that for about 4 months before I’m off again 🙈🙈

welcome @Surprised90 😊 we’re both joining the 2 under 2 club 🙈

how long do you have to decide where you’re booking into @AnnieApple123 ? It sounds like there’s a lot of thought needed for all these options 🙈

Alpacabag22 · 02/12/2022 16:37

Thanks @TheBirdintheCave fingers crossed for your next one 😊

@PumpkinEverything thanks, that's helpful to hear. So sorry for your MMC, sounds really rough. But glad you got a happy experience with your daughter's early scan. Hope this one I'd good too!

@sinloutox oh that's tricky when you work in the same department with everyone! Yeah I can understand wanting a bit of reassurance before folks find out.

I think I'll try and give clinic a call and get their advice about pushing it back or not. Would be lovely to see some proof (other than my collection of many many home tests) so it can sink in before Christmas. 😅

DesertSnow · 02/12/2022 17:18

So much to catch up on! Welcome to @CityKity @PeachCottonTree @Rowanandremy @TTCE @Surprised90 and any other newbies I've missed.

@TheBirdintheCave Yes the bloating! I think I'm going to have to wear loosish dresses exclusively this month as everyone will ask if I'm pregnant.

@somuchtolearnabout lovely way to tell your husband! I said to mine "Hey baby daddy, fancy drinking that bottle of Baileys we have in the cupboard on your own?"

@Alpacabag22 It sounds like most people are in favour of early scans. I have one booked for the 19th, when I'll be 8w2d by LMP though as I ovulated CD18 expect to be a bit behind - but should see a heartbeat by then if all is well. We're hoping to tell a few family members at Xmas (otherwise they'll guess) so I feel the need for some reassurance at that point. As others have said, I'd also rather know sooner rather than later if something is wrong.

@AnnieApple123 sounds like you have a lot to think about - maybe draw up a list of pros and cons for the hospital and home birth?

Re. the twins chat - twins run in both sides of our families, but think as @TheBirdintheCave says it's only the mother's side that counts. I think we'd struggle - we don't have much room, but more than enough love which is what counts really.

Re. boy/girl - I have no preference - might be nice to have one of each eventually but as it's our first would be 100% thrilled with either - can see pros and cons of each! Also have no sense of what it is as I think some mums-to-be have (though maybe not this early?)

I did my self-referral a week ago and not heard a peep. Too soon to chase up (think it said I'd get a letter in the post and obviously there have been strikes) but very keen to put it in the diary!

BusyBushBaby · 02/12/2022 17:32

Hi all, I'm new here.

I'm pregnant after IVF, 4+6, due August 5th. Trying to keep my expectations moderate after 4 previous losses, the last being a MMC in August of this year at 11 weeks. I also have a living son who is 2 1/2. EPAU won't see me because I've had a live birth, but I will be having some extra scans privately.

Re: boy/girl preferences, I don't really mind, I just want them to be alive and preferably healthy too! We did have 2 embryos put in so twins is a possibility but it's more probable that only 1 implanted. I'm hoping for 1 healthy baby, but we had this discussion before deciding to go for the double transfer and decided 2 babies is better than 0 babies.

ChloeN · 02/12/2022 17:45

@BusyBushBaby congratulations lovely! I’m the same with boy/girl just praying for a healthy baby!

Jadeelx · 02/12/2022 18:55

I had to change my booking appointment to next week as my husband is working away now and I wanted him to be able to come with.
I’ve also booked at early scan just for reassurance and to break up the wait, I’ll be 8+1 so hope to see the heartbeat.
Is anyone planning on NIPT testing? I did with my daughter I’ll probably book that in around 11 weeks.

congtats to all the new BFPs 🥰

Surprised90 · 02/12/2022 18:59

Thanks everyone for the lovely welcome!

@PumpkinEverything even though this is totally planned and I’m excited for my little girl to have a sibling so close in age I’m also wondering if I was a bit mad to go for 2 under 2! I’m expecting carnage I just hope we can handle it!! 😂 how are you feeling?

I don’t mind if it’s a boy or girl, I’m excited either way and just crossing fingers and toes that everything goes to plan!

We live in the uk but aren’t from here so don’t have any family, not even sure how we will coordinate attending scans or apps together yet!

helloimlaura · 02/12/2022 20:05

Hi everyone! Is it ok if I join? Currently 5 weeks and 2 days (due date 2nd august) and feeling extremely anxious as I had a missed miscarriage in Feb, and then took another 9 months to conceive. My main worry is that I have really long cycles and believe I conceived on CD60 so I just can't get that feeling out of my head that something is going to go wrong, I also don't have many symptoms which is making me nervous as I didn't have any last time either. Anyway it would just be good to follow this thread of ladies in the same boat as this is very nerve wracking for for us all x

Amme18 · 02/12/2022 20:09

I’ve got a 3+ on the clear blue today! Although by LMP I’m 4+6 so was expecting the 2-3, weirdly last Friday it said 1-2 but think they can be off by a day or so and I’ve took it right on the cusp both weeks!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/12/2022 20:11

@Jadeelx What is a NIPT?

ChloeN · 02/12/2022 20:28

@Amme18 I braved using my last one today and got 3+ too, so can finally stop testing!

@helloimlaura welcome and congratulations☺️ sorry you’re feeling anxious it’s such a nervous time isn’t it 🙁

TheBirdintheCave · 02/12/2022 20:45

@ChloeN @Amme18 Oh now I want to do mine tomorrow 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm so scared I won't get 3+ though. Do you think 5+5 will be enough to get it? 🤔

ChloeN · 02/12/2022 20:48

@TheBirdintheCave I think I’m 21dpo ish today but I did get a bfp at 9dpo so don’t know if that makes a difference? What’s your easy@home looking like?xx

LS888 · 02/12/2022 21:11

I haven’t got any more digitals but still checking with easy at homes (until they run out!). I also have 2 frers tests to maybe use at some point. Progression on easy at home looks good. Almost had a dye stealer this morning. It’s currently a little of of reassurance that I need.

Due August 2023?
Jadeelx · 02/12/2022 21:14

@TheBirdintheCave non invasive prenatal testing, basically a blood test and scan which looks at chromosomal abnormalities, usually Downs, Patau, edwards syndroms and others. It’s just a screening so not definitive but it gives a higher accuracy to the combined nhs blood test and screens for other abnormalities. It also tells the gender, I feel like I’d want to know if there is anything wrong as soon as possible. I do the one called Panorama

TheBirdintheCave · 02/12/2022 21:18

@ChloeN Easy@Home is still a dye stealer. I got my first positive at 10dpo so very similar to you. Hmm... I guess I'll see how brave I feel when I get up tomorrow 😂

Getting loads of CM when I wipe and I keep panicking that it will be tinged with blood at some point or be slightly pink or brown. I think it's because it's around this time that my MMC started spotting :/

TheBirdintheCave · 02/12/2022 21:19

@Jadeelx Ah thanks :D Could be useful but I also don't want to find out what we're having.

ChloeN · 02/12/2022 21:22

@LS888 your tests are looking really good😚

@TheBirdintheCave I searched on tiktok to see what other people’s tests looked like the same day they got a 3+ so I didn’t waste them 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 02/12/2022 21:25

Welcome @BusyBushBaby ! What a lot you’ve been through. Everything crossed for you.

@Jadeelx yes I’ll be having NIPT along with my 12 week scan. Did this last time too and was really grateful for this info for peace of mind. @TheBirdintheCave you don’t have to get the results for gender if you don’t want to.

Rowanandremy · 02/12/2022 22:01

@PumpkinEverything that sounds pretty brutal when you are so tired. I can't shake the tiredness at all, it feels like I've had no sleep at all and my one cup of coffee just isn't enough 😂

@DesertSnow Thank you for the welcome, everyone has been so lovely.

Welcome @BusyBushBaby and congratulations! I'm so sorry for your losses, my wife and I lost three before having our dd. I can completely understand the cautious optimism while trying to stay grounded with it.

@TTCE hi! I'm another one who underwent IUI treatment, I tested on day 9 and it was so faint I couldn't see the line but DW swore she could. Tested again on day 10 and there was an undeniable line. How did you find going through IUI (if you don't mind me asking? I've never spoken to anyone else who has gone through it). I felt really crummy for days afterwards and just wanted to stay in bed 😂

Sorry if I've missed welcoming anyone else, I'm trying to catch up on this thread now I'm not trying to type on a tablet. A very exciting time but I'm also wanting to speed ahead until after I'm 12 weeks 😂

Re a boy or girl, I'm genuinely not bothered what we have. In a sense it would be easier to have a girl because we've got bags and bags of our DD's old baby clothes so it'd save a small fortune but that's neither here nor there really. I'm just super excited to be pregnant and I think the reality is starting to sink in properly now.

PumpkinEverything · 02/12/2022 22:16

Welcome @BusyBushBaby and I’m so so sorry for all your losses. I really hope that this is the one (or possibly two!) for you 🤞🏻

@Surprised90 we hadn’t planned on trying for number 2 until next year so a bit of a surprise for us haha 🙈 I had this feeling I was pregnant so it wasn’t as big of a shock as it could have been, but when I saw that line coming up on the test my face was just like 😱😱😱😱😱 it came up before the dye had even finished! It’s starting to sink in a bit more and I can feel my brain trying to sort out the logistics and I’m already having to tell myself to stop thinking about buying baby clothes 🥺

welcome @helloimlaura 😊 if it makes you feel any better at all, I had a MMC before my daughter and had the exact same symptoms with both pregnancies… which was pretty much nothing 😂😂 I could have went months without knowing! So symptoms really don’t mean much I don’t think.

@LS888 that looks like great progression! Nice strong lines 😊

@Rowanandremy are you still drinking just the one cup of regular coffee? With my daughter I completely switched to decaf for 9 months (and a bit longer), and I feel like it’s going to hard to wean myself back off caffeine 😅😅 I was wondering whether just one cup would be okay. I’m such a chocolate fiend too and have to eat it everyday so I’m worried about having too much.

we won’t be doing NIPT testing. Not because we don’t want to, but because it’s a few hundred £ here 😬😬 it’s really expensive! in NI for your 12 week scan its just that and blood tests to check a few things, but not any abnormalities 😔

Rowanandremy · 02/12/2022 22:34

@PumpkinEverything I'm sticking to my one cup of caffeinated coffee a day, I'm not sure I'd stay awake otherwise! Before trying for DD I switched to decaf tea and I've never switched back but got onto having one cup of coffee a day about a year ago. From what I've read (and remember asking my midwife when I was pregnant with DD) you are fine to have one cup a day. Me too with the chocolate! I've switched over to dark chocolate which I've found I can't eat as much of but has the added bonus of being something my wife and DD can't stand 😂

Is NIPT testing something that's done privately? Or the tests you are offered on the NHS? I know when I was pregnant with DD we were offered tests to check for Edwards, Pataus and Downs which we did, but I don't recall being told that they could tell gender from that. Unless that's a newer thing?

Mulner88 · 02/12/2022 22:46

Hello and welcome to all the newcomers today and congrats on your recent BFP's 😊 Sorry for all the loses...it makes each and every pregnancy so anxiety provoking BUT every pregnancy is different and a new chapter 🤞🏼

Can I ask what does a NIPT test? Is it optional or something that is done anyway? When is the best time to do it? Must look into it!

Jadeelx · 02/12/2022 22:51

It’s just personal preference really, it screens for the same things the nhs one does but it has a higher accuracy because of the way it works. I believe some trusts offer it now if you have a high risk result from the 12 week bloods&scan screen, as it’s non invasive compared to amniocentesis.
it has gone up in price since I got it done last time, although what hasn’t ☹️

Jadeelx · 02/12/2022 22:51

I’m drinking coffee 😬
