It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

@BoodifulGoose happy to have a fellow scottish gal for company! Your early pregnancy scan isn’t in Livingston is it?

AnnieApple123 · 25/11/2022 15:30

Welcome @FlamingoBabe , @UsernameNotPresent and @BoodifulGoose

Am having quite a rough day today to be honest. I’m 4+3/4 and had so much twinging and cramping this morning that I convinced myself this surely wasn’t going to be viable. It felt just like my period was about to arrive. Every time I went for a wee (which a was lot) I was half-expecting to see blood. All seems to have settled down this afternoon though 🤷‍♀️.

I rang an old friend after lunch who I know had a very rough early pregnancy with her now 4 year-old (lots of bleeding) and talking to her was very reassuring.

@AnnieApple123 I'm glad your friend managed to make you feel better <3

ChloeN · 25/11/2022 15:38

@Mulner88 im sure they’ll be accommodating I bet they’d love a quiet week before Christmas🤣

@AnnieApple123 I get awful back and stomach cramps in the morning it’s so worrying, it must just be everything moving about in there but it’s hard to reassure yourself of that isn’t it

xylophone · 25/11/2022 15:40

@AnnieApple123 Sorry you’re having a rough day. I’m having the exact same symptoms today and going to the loo I also keep looking for my period, but at the same time I know that these cramps and twinges are very likely to just be the embryo bedding in deeply into the uterus lining, which is what we want. I am sure this is all well within what’s normal.
Personally I’m going out to distract myself, meeting a friend for a (soft) drink whilst trying not to raise suspicions!

xylophone · 25/11/2022 15:41

Ps. I’m 4+4 so very similar to you

Mulner88 · 25/11/2022 15:42

@AnnieApple123 cramping is very normal in early pregnancy so please try not to stress about it. Especially if it calms down after a while. In my experience with my MC, the cramps did not calm but got progressively worse to the point where painkillers could not kill it.

I literally filled my booking form out a half hour ago and just received a phone call with an appointment for the 16th December. I have my scan on the 15th so will definitely have to tell work now as I'll be skiving off for a period of time 2 days in a row 🤣

I just hope I make it that far 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

ChloeN · 25/11/2022 15:44

@Mulner88 woo they’re on it aren’t they 🤣🤣 will you be just before 8 weeks? X

Mulner88 · 25/11/2022 16:03

@ChloeN yeh I think week 8 will be the week after so it's early but I told them I'm not around that week so they gave me Friday of the week before. They were defo more on it compared to last time

BoodifulGoose · 25/11/2022 16:40

@Chocolotandtea same 😁 no, I'm booking privately in Aberdeen as that's my closest city!

@AnnieApple123 hello!💙 very sorry to hear you're struggling today and totally understand, but if it helps reading your comment has helped me! I have just today noticed cramping and had the same "this is just a period" feeling (also been expecting it every time I pee), but knowing I'm not alone in that (and googling how common it is) has helped a little!

DesertSnow · 25/11/2022 17:48

Gosh so much to catch up on today!

@MsRT that's interesting about the one step tests, think I might just avoid doing any more! Thanks for sharing.

Welcome and congratulations @Loudmouth1 @Mc3209 @MidnightSunshine12 (I'm also due 2nd August according to the NHS calculator 😊) @Chocolotandtea (please don't feel guilty!) @FlamingoBabe @BoodifulGoose @SnowL2021 (another 2nd August buddy) @UsernameNotPresent. Hope I didn't miss anyone!

@AnnieApple123 I've also had concerns about ectopic but hoping they're just in my head - feels like my head is going through all the worst case scenarios. Also YES to spending ridiculous money on supplements etc. Sorry you've had a hard day - every little cramp and twinge is so scary isn't it? We have to remember that our bodies are doing quite a lot right now and it's normal that they feel different. Like @xylophone I also am checking for blood etc. Just remember: right now you're pregnant 💖Sending hugs to you both and to everyone else worrying!

@TheBirdintheCave sounds like similar to me with tests and worrying about them progressing - I think they're not meant to track progression really (there's a reason they're cheap!) and little things can throw it off like how hydrated you are, how much dye is in tests etc. Remember lots of women will do one test, not test again and things still work out. Doesn't mean their line was progressing every day. Plus if HCG doubles every couple of days, you might not necessarily notice difference between one day and the next.

@Chocolotandtea we're planning on 8 week scan just before Christmas, then tell parents and siblings when we see them over Christmas. I think I'd like to hold out to 12 weeks, but no way will my DH be able to, so fingers crossed all will be ok at the scan. He also points out if something goes wrong, we'll want them there to support us.

Gosh so exciting some of you have already booked in with midwives and scans. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow, perhaps I need to just go for it.

Sorry for the mammoth post! Teaches me for not checking MN for a day! Hope everyone's ok this evening.

SnowL2021 · 25/11/2022 18:08

@AnnieApple123 Completely understand why you’re worrying, but if it helps, I had cramps for weeks (starting pretty much from the positive test) with my first kid. They felt identical to period cramps. It was my main symptom, actually. The rest of the pregnancy went smoothly. I’m a bit crampy today, actually. Also had some sharp twinges whenever I suddenly stand up/turn around! Just wish I could fast forward time to the 12-week scan..

Exciting about all the midwife apts! I’m planning to call on Monday to arrange.

Loudmouth1 · 25/11/2022 18:11

Anyone else already got symptoms never had any at all with my first and for the past few days just been so emotional crying at everything not sure what else to expect symptom wise 🙃

ellie0605 · 25/11/2022 18:22

@Loudmouth1 I have horrendous nausea and I'm crying at everything!! Cried as I drove past some university workers protesting this morning when I thought about how cold they must be 😂🙈

Loudmouth1 · 25/11/2022 18:48

@ellie0605 I feel you haha cried this morning when my OH went to work and normally I love it when he's out the house, keep getting a few twinges weren't sure if they were just standard either

ellie0605 · 25/11/2022 18:50

@Loudmouth1 I had really bad cramping last week! It had me wincing at times, but it's settled down now! It's really common

ChloeN · 25/11/2022 18:55

@Loudmouth1 my biggest symptom is my boobs and nipples hurting, sometimes they feel like they’re on fire 🤣 but only on and off which is random

TheBirdintheCave · 25/11/2022 19:20

@Loudmouth1 I've just got sore boobs and a very small amount of nausea in the morning. I had horrendous nausea with my son so am desperate for it to get really bad again just to help convince myself that this is actually happening 😂

DesertSnow · 25/11/2022 19:30

@Loudmouth1 @ChloeN @TheBirdintheCave my biggest symptom is my boobs too. It comes and goes - I had a shower earlier and it hurt to lift my arms up which was limiting 😂I also feel quite full most of the time - not nauseous though, just like I just ate a big meal? But I'm still managing to eat ok even with that. It's terrible, but I wish I had more symptoms so I just 'feel' more pregnant!

Loudmouth1 · 25/11/2022 19:30

@TheBirdintheCave @ChloeN these first few weeks are brutal obsessing over symptoms 🤦‍♀️ was bad with my first as I didn't have any at all

AnnieApple123 · 25/11/2022 21:43

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words. I’m feeling a little better tonight. Although this group hasn’t even been going a week yet, I’m already so grateful to be in touch with all of you and to know that we’re not alone in what we’re going through.

Much love to everyone for these anxious (sometimes torturous!) early weeks. xx

MsRT · 25/11/2022 21:46

just caught up. @AnnieApple123 sending you lots of love and glad you’re feeling a little bit better this evening ❤️

welcome and congratulations to new members! Can’t believe how much this thread has grown already xx

MsRT · 25/11/2022 21:46

side note… never been so grateful for sore boobs 🤣

UsernameNotPresent · 26/11/2022 00:22

Pregnancy insomnia again. Ugh.

@BoodifulGoose is your scan at George street by any chance?!

BoodifulGoose · 26/11/2022 00:42

@UsernameNotPresent ah that's not so good sorry to hear that :( I'm getting my first night of many, I imagine, being the only sober person of the evening 😂

It is indeed 😁 assuming you're there too?! What a coincidence were both on this thread!
