Spink2022 · 11/11/2022 20:04

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

@habiller so sorry to hear about your cat xxx

NS05 · 15/12/2022 14:35

@hopefullsosbry I'm going to the fetal medicine centre I find them the best, for a nuchal scan it's £190 and includes a blood test. You can have this from 11 weeks I think!

Regarding harmony I had this with my son but it's now £500 and I spoke to the midwife and she said the nhs one is only slightly less percentage so I'm not going to bother this time. I think it depends if you're high risk but as we are both young I think I may leave it as I have spent thousands on ivf and really need to try and save where we can! It is great though as you know the gender from 10 weeks!

hopefullsosbry · 15/12/2022 15:01

@NS05 I think we will go for the harmony test as I am 40 in two weeks, so my age is getting on (in baby making terms) 🙄 and as you say you can know the sex which I think we want to know. I will speak to my midwife about the NI test as to when they do it amd if it’s a bit later on I might just pay for that also to get it sooner, I think it’s just gets all the things to worry about out the way ?! We got our nhs 12 weeks scan appointment through for January.. if all goes well and we get to that stage 🤞🏽🥰

pizzawinecake · 15/12/2022 16:39

Hi can I join?

10 weeks today which feels like a huge milestone. Something about double digits making it feel real.

Had a transfer in Oct after a couple of rounds of embryo banking and so far so good, apart from crippling occasional anxiety as I have had a MMC before, it's so easy to convince yourself nothing is going on in your tummy at this stage.

Also have panicked myself as my prenatal (a US brand) contains retinol Vit A which is big no in the UK (but in the US they are fine with) and so have to have a scan on Sat at the fetal medicine centre to check all is fine. Have my booking in appt with midwife tomorrow too so all pretty busy

Shitty news my end today. Went for 7w1d scan and had a sac but no fetal pole and no heartbeat so being referred to EPU for miscarriage management. Feel so exhausted. 3 ivf attempts this year and 1 ectopic pregnancy. Just feel so fed up with this whole thing and like I’ve put my body through so much. Went and bought sushi and ice cream as I love salmon and haven’t been allowed to eat it.

NS05 · 15/12/2022 18:49

Welcome @pizzawinecake and congrats! I have the same as also had a MMC earlier this year it's so tough! I'm a few days behind you.

@Ems123456789 I'm so sorry to hear this, it is so unbelievably unfair after everything you've been through. Take the time you need to heal and we are all here if you want to chat ❤️

So sorry to hear this @Ems123456789 ☹️

Miraclesdohappen88 · 15/12/2022 21:10

@Ems123456789 I'm so so sorry to hear this news ☹️☹️ life can be so unfair. Thinking of you.

hopefullsosbry · 15/12/2022 21:56

@Ems123456789 so sorry, hope
you are ok. It is very disheartening after all the time, effort , money etc that goes into ivf to not get what we expect at the end of it all.. do you have other blast in freezer ? Sending hugs xx💖

Nerdalert · 15/12/2022 23:23

@Ems123456789 I'm so sorry for your news! It really is cruel what we go through for it to be taken away at the next hurdle!! Sending love and hugs xx

Ems123456789 · 16/12/2022 07:37

Thank you everyone for your messages. I have found this group a great support. Majority of my friends have children and whilst they have empathy, it’s just not the same.

@hopefullsosbry I was lucky to get one embryo to freeze on my last round which is a 5AA. I had a 4BB transferred on day 5 because the 5AA at this point was still developing. So that is good news. I think it may take me a few months to get back on the bandwagon though as I need to build my emotional resilience back up as there’s been a lot of disappointment this year and I feel drained.

hopefullsosbry · 16/12/2022 08:25

@Ems123456789 am sorry you have had such a hard year .. you are very strong though to have even come this far so keep that in mind how amazing you are ! 💖 that’s good news you have one in freezing , not that it make it any better after you suffer the loss but at least it’s something to focus on when you are ready to do another one .. take care and hope you relax , we have really thick snow where I am today .. it’s so beautiful.. thankfully I don’t need to drive in it and can just enjoy it 🥰❄️

Ems123456789 · 16/12/2022 12:12

Thank you @hopefullsosbry for your kind message. I appreciate it.
I have just been for a very nice sunny walk in the snow and I have had a caffeinated coffee and will have a bath later. All the things I haven’t been allowed to do. Was hoping to get into the EPU today to get the next steps under way but haven’t heard back from them yet, likely because they are busy with more urgent cases.

Wishing everyone else well who has upcoming scans etc 👍🏻

NS05 · 19/12/2022 09:18

Hope everyone is feeling ok? Last stretch before Xmas! Good luck for anyone that has scans this week!

Hi @habiller so sorry to hear about this stressful time. I've had spotting a couple of times and have been reassured it usually is just part of the process and very normal but I know very stressful. I think if you're worried def go for a scan to put your mind at rest!

I'm the same at 10 +2 symptoms mostly gone so getting a bit worried. Have my nuchal scan next week and just hope all is well! It's such a rollercoaster ride!

Bubbafever · 20/12/2022 11:46

Hi ladies. I am exactly the same. I had a scan last week at 9+2 and was dreading it because all my symptoms subsided. But there was a nice strong heartbeat. I have another scan next week as I am doing a nipt test. The nerves always kick in inthe run up to a scan. It is so bad! Baby bump is starting to show. I will be so happy when the lubion finishes!!

NS05 · 20/12/2022 12:17

@Bubbafever ah so happy for you! I'm the same, can't wait for the lubion to be over, luckily next sat will be my last day of it along with the horrible pesaries! What day is your nipt test?X

Geordielass91 · 20/12/2022 12:50

Hope everyone is doing ok I'm 6 weeks 6 days scan tomorrow I'm so scared.
Still no real symptoms I did feel sick y'day when went into the kitchen and things were cooking but that went. I've had a bit of cramping the last few days feels like my period cramps. Just hope everything is ok tomorrow.

Germanlife · 20/12/2022 15:31

Hi All,

I have been lurking in the background sorry!

I am 10+1 today and my symptoms have also eased off a little, although I am still extremely worn out ALL the time!

I have had 3 scans now @habiller i completely get you with wanting to see but that fear of getting bad news. I get so worried before every scan. But I have to say the closer I am getting to 12 weeks the more relaxed I am and the more I am starting to enjoy it!

In January my husband and I have planned to do our budget and start reviewing what we need to buy/do. I have heard the second trimester you have a little more energy… so I want to make the most of it!

I do have a question for you all, I have noticed that my lower belly is tender and has Defo popped out a little (although you could just say I ate all the mince pies!) is anyone else noticing that there belly is slowly popping? Or should I be worried that I am getting to big, I am not naturally slims and sit usually at a size 12/14, so expected to take longer before I noticed anything.

anyway keep positive ladies 😍

SunshineAndScience · 20/12/2022 15:40

Hello 👋 Just thought I’d check in. I had my surgery today and as sad as I feel, I hope I can start to feel better now. I really hope that others in the same boat can star to find little bits of happiness in their days too. I hope that 2023 brings you brighter days and in time, a little person to love. I can’t think about it yet but I’m grateful to have 4 embryos on ice - going to go on holiday first if we can!

Im going to sign off from this thread now but just wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas and I really wish you all the best in your pregnancies. Nobody deserves it more than IVF troopers.

Thanks for all the support, lots of love xxx

Spink2022 · 20/12/2022 17:15

Hi everyone

sorry for the radio silence. I’ve been really rough. I’ve been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum and it’s really not easing. I’m 11 weeks tomorrow so I’m praying it goes in the next week. I’m so drained from it.

I’m so sorry to everyone who has had losses. It’s so heartbreaking.

someone asked about a bump. I’ve got a very defined bump already. I’ve been taking weekly pics and it’s more than doubled since week 4. People have started asking if I’m pregnant. We have a private scan next week when I’m 12 weeks and I think we will have to start telling people after that because there’s not much hiding it! Especially with all the sickness. I’ve lost a few lbs during the pregnancy so far which is unexpected. I can’t wait to be able to eat again without throwing up.

is anyone else really emotional? I woke up at 2am in floods of tears and soo snappy 🫣 I can hear myself doing it but just can’t stop!

I hope you’re all winding down and relaxing for our last xmas without a baby! 🤞

@Geordielass91 wish you well for your scan tomorrow!

@Germanlife I'm very close to you at 10 plus 2 and yes my belly is definitely popping out I think even more so as it's my second!

@SunshineAndScience nice to hear from you it must be so hard but now that the surgery is over you can move forward and plan ahead! Please keep us posted on your fet in the new year!

@Spink2022 so sad to hear you've been feeling so poorly I really hope it subsides for you soon! I also have my private 12w scan next week and will tell people if all ok.

Tmi but today I've had some yellow discharge, has anyone else had this not sure whether to call midwife.

Spink2022 · 20/12/2022 18:04

@NS05 oh yes I get loads of that now. Some is clear and some is slightly more yellow. It doesn’t smell though. I find it comes the day after or some time after I’ve had some cramping or movement feelings. It’s totally normal to get lots of discharge.

I’ve been off all hormones for 3 weeks now so I can confirm it is all pregnancy 😅it marks my underwear like the suppositories did. Prepare for it to get worse in the next week! I’ve definitely seen an increase
