Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

@Spink2022 thank goodness I've been panicking about infection lol. Tmi but honestly feels like I've wet myself sometimes I guess it must just be hormones. I literally can't remember anything from last time!

I get some on and off, sone days lots sone days none at all but I too feel I get a bit more after crampy feelings, not had a yellow colour though but I think yellow is fine as long as it doesn’t itch or smell

Definitely if it smells or is itchy do a urine test at dr.

@Spink2022 @hopefullsosbry yes it doesn't tbh but I called and may just get a swab anyway! Two friends have announced pregnancies this week, makes me more desperate to be off with them! Hopefully all our scans will go well 🙏

Wee update , had my scan today (8+4) and heart beat still there and baby growing as should be, so happy .. had my booking appointment yesterday with midwife also. I have a hematoma but they don’t seem to worried about it and have had zero bleeding so far so all seems good so far .. next scan will be the harmony 1st week in January when we also find out the sex ! Still very cautious to get exited .. 🙄 hope everyone is good and hope everyone had a good Christmas 🎄 xxx

@NS05 thank you, yes will be able to relax a bit over Xmas n new year 🥰 hope you are good ? I still dont have much symptoms 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes have my nuchal scan on weds 🙏 ye I've got nothing other than tiredness @hopefullsosbry glad to know we are in the same boat!

@NS05 yes it’s reassuring, also the sonographer said she had so many in today and yest saying the same that they were worried as had zero symptoms.. strange huh ?! Suppose, shouldn’t complain as could be worse and have bad sickness ?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes very true @hopefullsosbry I just think it means another boy as I was the same with my son 🤣

@NS05 are you going to find out gender of this baby ? I can’t wait to find out , I didn’t with my daughter .. but will with this one 😁

@NS05 have a brilliant time im Spain! Is it next week you go? I’ve got my private 12 week scan next weds. Still havnt had my nhs scan through. Can you believe we’re nearly 12 weeks already?? It’s both dragged and gone fast somehow 😂

I’ve been told I’m going to be consultant led because of the ivf and they won’t let be go over my due date. I also have to start a low dose of aspirin next week for nearly the rest of the pregnancy because I had ivf. My bloods all came back great and my HB was promising which was the biggest worry with my bad sickness so all good news! I’ve been sent for a heart scan next Thurs because they could hear something when they listened, possibly a murmur, so I’ve got a busy week of apts next week!

I’m really glad to be consultant led because we get extra scans and more medical appointments

I feel like I’m getting really well looked after and my midwife has given me her mobile number so i can call her directly which is comforting. We’re starting to tell people this week which is really exciting! I’m feeling quite confident now that things will be okay and quite relaxed even though I’m being sick all the time 😂

My Christmas wish is to eat my dinner without throwing it up 😂😂🙏 That might be too big an ask 😂I’m so glad to be off work for 10 days though!!

@Spink2022 thank you, yes it is a relief, my midwife also said we will get consolation lead also and the same with not going past due date, yeh will be great to get extra scans etc 😁.. that’s great you are starting to tell people .. how exciting, still a few weeks for us to get through before we will (only 8+5) hope you have an amazing Xmas and sickness free ! 🎅🏽🎄🤰🏼

@Spink2022 so exciting mine is next weds too and we fly weds eve so hoping all is ok. My nhs one isn't until I get back on the 9th so a while away, so happy I'm doing the private nuchal one.

Yes my hospital is the same with ivf don't let you go over etc. I've also been on baby aspirin since 5 weeks as apparently it's good for blood circulation etc! Good that your bloods came back ok, your hospital sound super thorough!

I can't wait for Xmas - hopefully you won't feel too rubbish!!

So happy to be off work for 2.5 weeks -such a dream!!!

@Spink2022 what time is your scan tomorrow? I'm starting to get nervous tomorrow. As I already have a proper bump my family guessed I was pregnant on Christmas Day and I ended up telling them (aunts, uncles etc) I really wish I didn't and had kept it to myself but it's too late now!

Does anyone else have scans coming up x

@NS05 10am tomorrow. We also told grand parents the last couple of days. We’re going to tell friends after the scan tomorrow as long as everything is okay. What time is yours? I hope it’s early so you can relax after. It’s not nice feeling that anxious before.

I can’t believe I’m 12 weeks tomorrow. It’s gone really fast and really slow 😂

Hey, a quick qn about nuchal tests. My nhs scan/ tests aren't til I'm 14 weeks so I'm thinking of going private as I just want some 'sign off' things are ok at 12 weeks. But how long do you have to wait for nuchal test results on the nhs? Basically I'm just trying to justify to myself that a private scan/ test is the way to go

@pizzawinecake my nhs scan hasn’t even come through yet and I’m 12 weeks tomorrow! But I’m thinking it’s delayed in the post. I’m going to call tomorrow. I think the wait for test results on nhs is 3 days. No idea about how long the wait for private ones are

@Spink2022 - did you decide to get a private test done because the nhs one may still be a while away. Trying to to decide if it's worth it. Not least because our embryo was pgt so should be okay. I just start getting anxious a week or so after a last scan and convince myself there is nothing growing so I need to recheck. When does this anxiety go?!

Also @Spink2022 I'm 12 weeks on Thurs so super close behind you! 12 weeks feels like a real milestone though right? Not least because no more ivf meds after that!

We are getting the panorama test a week today .. it’s like the harmony but with more chromosome tests added and we get to know the sex can do that from 9 weeks .. it’s a scan and blood and get results around 7 days after .. I’ll be 10w+2 when we get it next week .. my nhs is on the 19th Jan at 12+4 I’ll be then but I don’t wana wait till then .. best of luck with everyone having scans .. we have only told very close family .. my sisters and mum /partners mum .. think we will wait till 14 weeks to tell everyone else ?! 🤷🏼‍♀️Good luck with scans xxx

@pizzawinecake im getting just a normal private scan because i want to know all is okay before telling friends/wider family. My nhs one will deffo be before 14 weeks because it has to be to be able to go the downs testing. Im happy to wait for the nhs for that because im not that worried. Tbh for me I don’t have a huge amount of anxiety anymore. Maybe because I’m so sick with it? But everyone’s so different. We’ve also had 2 scans which were good and they helped ease my nerves. i think it’s such an individual choice whether you want a private scan and also what you can afford because it’s not cheap. It’s the same as it’s such a personal choice when you want to tell people. I’ve had friends who told me at 4 weeks and others who told me at 14. Ive found it hard not to tell people as we’ve been very open with family and friends about ivf so they ask all the time about the outcome. Tbh for me it will be a relief to tell them so I don’t have to pretend I don’t feel like shit anymore 😂😂😂
