Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

@habiller its so amazing you’re having twins!! 🥰🥰 tbh I havnt had any bleeding but I still look for blood every time so I’m not sure it ever goes??

@NS05 how was your scan?

mine went well. Baby was bouncing around and 5.3cm which dated them at exactly 12 weeks today which is perfect! and I’ve had my nhs scan through for next week!

@Spink2022 aw amazing! Yes all good measuring bit ahead at 12w 🥰 all bloods done too saying I'm very low risk for any abnormalities, so relieved 🙏

Spink2022 · 28/12/2022 12:04

@NS05 thats amazing news!!!! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy sharing your amazing news and can relax a bit now

You too @Spink2022 ❤️❤️

Morning ladies. I’m 10w4d today and have virtually no symptoms throughout, bar tiredness and general irritability. Our last scan was 8w0 and everything was fine. This morning, I popped my pessary in and noticed red blood on the pessary stick. Wiped and there was red blood on the paper. Have since rewiped several times to check and it now seems to be brown. Obviously I’ve gone into full blown panic mode and waiting on the EPU calling me back, they said “hopefully” it’ll be today…!! Have phoned round every scan place in the whole of Scotland (just about) and no availability until tomorrow morning earliest. Really worried what could be causing this as I’ve had no bleeding at all so far 😩😩😩

Spink2022 · 30/12/2022 15:10

@maybebaby2023 earlier on in my pregnancy I had very similar and it was the pessary application that had scratched my cervix. Aparantly the pessaries really irritate your insides. Like you it was blood at first then after consistently going to the toilet to wipe for a couple of hours it stopped. I really hope you hear from
the EPU soon and arnt left worrying too long. Hopefully they will be able to put your mind at ease

@Spink2022 they phoned back and said they can’t scan me until next Weds. Have managed to find an appt at somewhere a bit of a drive away tonight so going there at 6pm. No way i could wait until Wed! They did say it might be the pessaries but it seems strange as I’ve been on them the whole time and had no issues. I didn’t feel a nip or anything 🙁

Spink2022 · 30/12/2022 15:30

@maybebaby2023 im glad you’ve found somewhere you can go tonight! I honestly didn’t feel anything when I did it either. Let us know how you get on. Will be thinking of you xxx

NS05 · 30/12/2022 15:46

@maybebaby2023 I hope you're ok. If there are no cramps and it's already subsided hopefully will just be the irritation of the pessaries. Please let us know how you get on ❤️

maybebaby2023 · 30/12/2022 15:55

Thanks ladies. I haven’t had any pain and it seems to have subsided. Keep reading horror stories online about it starting lightly, stopping and then turning into a full blown MC. Can’t help but think the worst when anything happens, can you?! I will update you all later. Thanks for thinking of me ❤️

maybebaby2023 · 30/12/2022 19:18

So the little monkey is completely fine and she couldn’t see a definitive cause for the bleeding. She did say there looked like an old haemotoma but hard to say if that’s the cause or not as there’s nothing obvious. Baby wriggling away and had its little legs crossed, completely oblivious! Measuring 4 days ahead at 11w1d 💗🥰

Aw @maybebaby2023 so happy for you! Knew it would all be well ❤️❤️

Bubbafever · 30/12/2022 19:47

@maybebaby2023 that is excellent news! So happy for you!

I had a 11+2 scan for my nipt test. I am amazed at the growth since week 9. Bubba was wriggling around so much but the sonographer was happy to spend lots of time with us so we see all the limbs etc.

Aw I'm so happy for you @Bubbafever such great news!!!

NS05 · 30/12/2022 19:55

Also I know so silly but I really wanted a gender surprise but feel like the nub is clearly up and sticking out in this pic so it must be a boy? Do any of you believe in this nub theory thing 🤣 I know it's pathetic I just really wanted to find out at the birth.

Spink2022 · 30/12/2022 20:06

@maybebaby2023 what brilliant news I’m so happy for you

@Bubbafever ahhhh brilliant. And what a clear scan!

@NS05 i literally know nothing about the nub theory so I cannot comment 😂

OP posts:
Bubbafever · 30/12/2022 20:48

I was googling the nub theory after my scan this morning and am so sure I am having a boy! The nipt test will confirm in 10-14 days...eeeek

hopefullsosbry · 30/12/2022 23:19

Awh it’s so lovely to see all your amazing scan pics .. so glad everyone is progressing as should .. not sure about the gender theory thing .. I think there is a website you can send a pic in and they predict ? Am sure someone on another thread was talking about this ?

I have my next scan on Tuesday (10w+2) and get the NIPT and gender results coming around 10 days later it says which will land on Friday 13th 😳 not sure how I feel about that .. 🥴but what will be will be .. 🤞🏽 All the best to everyone for 2023 .. happy new year guys xxxx🥂🎊🎉

NS05 · 31/12/2022 02:24

Yes defo @Bubbafever yours looks like mine 🤣

@maybebaby2023 yours actually looks like girl but who knows!

Ah so exciting @hopefullsosbry bet you cannot wait!

maybebaby2023 · 31/12/2022 09:15

@NS05 hmm, being honest, from my limited knowledge of the nub theory, I would say yours does look boy-ish. But maybe the nub you can see in the pic is actually part of the leg...? Either way, there's plenty of people who have been told 100% one sex based on nub/skull theories and gone on to have the opposite. It's just a theory and not a fact. It 100% will still be a surprise for you at the birth as you don't know either way. What do you have already?

As for mine, I think it does look a bit girly but from what I've read, they all look a bit girly until 12w. We have 4 little boys and 1 girl in the immediate family so a girl would be nice to even the scores a bit. Either or is perfect for me. My gut is saying boy and the rest of my family are voting boy too... we will see on 6th Feb!!

maybebaby2023 · 31/12/2022 09:17

@hopefullsosbry happy new year to you too!!

At least you know Fri 13th is unlucky for some... but not you. It'll very much be a lucky day for you 🤗

NS05 · 31/12/2022 12:40

@maybebaby2023 I have a boy already but obviously will be happy with anything if it's healthy! My sister has 2 boys so my mum is desperate for a granddaughter but I have already told her it's unlikely 🤣

I think ivf does produce way more boys, everyone that I know that has done it has a boy! You are right it is just a theory and still will be a surprise I guess!

Bubbafever · 03/01/2023 19:07

How is everyone doing? I have my first nhs scan next week which I think is a nuchal translucency scan. No ideas what that is but I think it is judt like a normal scan? Have you guys had it yet?

Also Happy New Year all!

hopefullsosbry · 03/01/2023 20:18

Hi, happy new year all , not good news for me today .. went for my harmony scan (10+3) amd heart beat stopped .. baby measuring 22mm so so somewhere around week 9 .. we just had a scan 10 days ago all was fine .. ah well .. have to get a NHS scan tomorrow and talk about next steps .. 😞 wishing you luck with your pregnancies

Ems123456789 · 03/01/2023 20:34

So sorry @hopefullsosbry for your news. Having been one of the people on this thread who also had a loss I am here if you wish to talk. I have just gone through a medical miscarriage after my scan diagnosis. I’m really sorry, it really sucks!
