Pregant after miscarriage - support thread

Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@ChloeN glad baby was so energetic. That s great news. 🤗

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 16:15

@ChloeN that’s great news she’s rolling around but annoying you couldn’t get the combined screening. Will the nhs do the NIPT test for you or do you have to go private?

I find it a strange thought that our babies move so much inside and we can’t feel a thing yet. There’s something wriggling around in there and if we didn’t know we were pregnant we would be unaware. It’s even stranger when you see it on a scan but feel nothing

ChloeN · 20/01/2023 17:08

@Ella1211 thank you lovely☺️

@allgoodthings84 go private! I was kind of undecided about the screening anyway so do I just not bother🙈 I know honestly I don’t know how I couldn’t feel it🤣

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 17:32

@ChloeN that really sucks that they aren’t offering it to you on the nhs or at least another scan to check. I don’t know what I would do either

CaliGirl47 · 20/01/2023 19:28

Hello all. Room for one more? I am currently 4+6 following a mmc in November. I go between being cautiously optimistic, and absolutely terrified of things going wrong again. 😣 I’m trying not to compare this pregnancy with my last pregnancy…..But it’s still so fresh in my mind. Hearing of all of the successful rainbow babies and pregnancies out there gives me hope. 🌈

Oh wow that’s fantastic news about your scan @ChloeN So pleased for you hun! There’s nothing like seeing a lovely wriggly baby on the screen for reassurance. 💓 Sorry they couldn’t get the measurements, it seems odd that they would expect you to fork out ££££ for the NIPT instead of offering it themselves? I do hope you have a lovely weekend and are buzzing after seeing your precious little rainbow babe. 🌈

@squirrelnutkins1 Have been having a really hard time sleeping—waking at 2 or 3am and not being able to get back to sleep 🙄—also headaches, which are new… not great! I’m less nauseous, at least.

Sorry you’re still feeling awful some days! When will your gender scan be?

@ChloeN So happy your scan went well—that’s amazing!! 🥳

@ChloeN Sorry—posted too soon! That should say scans plural! Will they not redo the 12 week scan to date properly?

Nervousbuthopeful · 20/01/2023 19:35

It’s been such a relief, and so emotional! Glad you’ll have a 16-week scan to find out! Do you have a preference? I would have been happy with either but really really wanted at least one girl, and we only want two, so if all continues to go well, the pressure’s off 😂

@Nervousbuthopeful I often miss tagging the person when I reply on here, don't worry 😂

I'd like a boy, because I already have a daughter, so it'd be nice to have one of each, but I'm honestly not bothered either way. I'm just absolutely dreading thinking of names... 😂

ChloeN · 20/01/2023 15:50

Had my 12 week scan, baby was soo active literally rolling around having a party! But that meant she couldn’t get a precise measurement, so haven’t got an official due date and can’t have the screening🤦🏻‍♀️ so now need to decide whether to have the NIPT xx

Aww so happy for you 😊😊😊

ChloeN · 20/01/2023 19:49

@CaliGirl47 thank you! Lovely to see you on this thread☺️ I know it’s a bit annoying but oh well🙈 honestly it’s just my luck🤣

@Nervousbuthopeful thank you! They’ll redo at 15 weeks but then too late for screening but at least I’ll get it dated!

Oh yes the night wakes 😭 preparing us for what's ahead!
It's next Friday afternoon. I feel soooo impatient! I keep scrutinising over my 12 week pic looking at skill theory etc to try and figure it out 😂. I even looked at the Chinese gender chart 😂

squirrelnutkins1 · 01/02/2023 07:28

All good and it's a boy!

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

Nervousbuthopeful · 01/02/2023 12:42

@squirrelnutkins1 That’s amazing news!! Congrats!

I think I forgot to respond to people earlier—I’m sorry about that! Am at work now so will go try to be productive…

Hey ladies! Just a question for anyone on progesterone etc for pregnancy. I had my first consultation with a doctor privately there and was given a prescription for progesterone, steroids and aspirin. She said to start as soon as I get a positive test. Is it worthwhile getting the script now and have it ready, does the progesterone expire quickly?

rach971 · 16/02/2023 14:31

@Daniki You could do, it doesn't expire quick no. They tend to only give you a week or two supply at once, or they did for me anyway. So you're constantly ringing up then to order more.

theblueflowers · 16/02/2023 15:45

@Daniki I did exactly that- ordered my prescription so it was there ready when I got a BFP. It had a 6 month expiry date and I was given 3 weeks worth.

Daniki · 16/02/2023 15:48

@rach971 @theblueflowers thanks ladies! Il go in and chat to the pharmacist tomorrow we’re friendly enough these days 😂 the last Mc I actually got pregnant really easy but my first successful pregnancy took ages so god knows! Took a test this morning even tho im not due on until next week and it was negative. Not too stressed as it was our first time trying since Mc in December and I’m relaxed enough at the min! X

rach971 · 16/02/2023 18:04

@Daniki Really got my fingers crossed for you. I remember seeing your post when it happened, been wondering how you were ♥️

Daniki · 16/02/2023 21:58

Aw thanks @rach971 I'm feeling really positive now after my consultation so hopefully next time will stick 🤩

Beapo · 16/02/2023 22:02

Hey all, it's been a while since I last posted, hyperemesis has still been kicking my butt and now have a uti so been feeling very under the weather 😫 I do have positive news though, I booked a private 16 week scan for last Saturday as my nhs one wasn't til week 19, and I'm super impatient 🤣 And I found out I'm having a boy! 💙 All very exciting, still anxious constantly and exhausted but starting to feel more real and exciting now. Hope everyone is doing well x

Nervousbuthopeful · 23/04/2023 14:06

Hey everyone! @Beapo , sorry I didn’t see your post in Feb, and congrats!

How is everyone doing? I can’t believe I’ve made it this far (third trimester on Tuesday!), and hope everything is going well for all of you!

I’m beyond impatient to actually have this little baby now 😅😊
