@candycrush789 yay, symptoms! Good luck for tomorrow, look forward to hearing how it goes.
I'm good thanks, feel hungry a lot 😂

Which of you lovely ladies are expecting baby no 1? And who's on more?
This will be no 2 for me, I have a 3 and a half yr old DD ❤️

MamaSJ15 · 28/11/2022 12:43

@xogossipgirlxo that's sounds bloody painful!
I've got my work Christmas do this Friday too, thankfully most people I work with already know that I don't drink anyway and I always drive so there's no chance of anyone trying to buy me drinks 😂 a couple of people at work already know I'm pregnant too so that helps haha.
Do you have any family that you could use as an excuse not to go?

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 14:33

Afternoon all,

Today has brought my first ever dry-heaving 😭 I was just nauseous with DD but this is a step up this time. I have emetophobia so this is pretty close to my worst nightmare.

Has anyone found any things that work to reduce it? I’m scared to eat much now as I’m scared that I’ll actually vomit if I do 😔

MamaSJ15 · 28/11/2022 14:48

@ThePodParent omg I didn't know it had a name! I have the same thing and have never come across anyone else with it!!
I have found that for me it's when I start feeling hungry that it would kick in (thankfully my whole pregnancy with DD I wasn't ill and only had mild nausea, hoping for similar this time), so keep snacks with you at all time and try make sure to not go to bed hungry cause that's when it kicks off in the mornings. I've even heard some people take biscuits or something to bed with them to snack on if they wake in the night.

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 15:51

@MamaSJ15 Sorry you’ve got this too! Interesting re having an empty stomach as I’ve been eating every 1.5hrs or less to avoid nausea, but then today I kind of felt alright for a bit so I left it 2hrs and then was allllll over the place with dry heaving. Gently munching on wotsits now.

It’s making me strongly reconsider my idea of 3 babies… might stop at 2 after this! 😅 I didn’t expect to feel like this as it was just nausea and exhaustion with DD.

leanneb94 · 28/11/2022 16:02

I've had to have last week off work as felt so awful with nausea! I've started gagging at absolutely anything over the last 3 days and at 6+2 I'm praying it doesn't get worse 😭I have found that as long as I don't get hungry I'm managing the nausea at the moment but the gagging is what is getting me down, even just getting into my car every time it is making me gag and I dont know why. This is my first pregnancy and it was an unexpected one so have been feeling a little down but especially now the horrible symptoms have started

MamaSJ15 · 28/11/2022 16:17

@ThePodParent haha I don't blame you, I'll be stopping at 2!
How old is your first child? If you don't mind me asking, how do you deal with this when your LO is poorly? I suffer awful from anxiety around this!

@leanneb94 I am sorry you're feeling so horrible, fingers crossed it passes quickly, it is a bit odd that you're gagging randomly. How do you feel about the pregnancy with it being unplanned?

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 16:24

@leanneb94 I feel your pain! I’m off work today and feeling like this isn’t very fun at all today.

For any fellow teachers: I was really under the impression that we’re expected to go in even if we feel awful and have to leg it out of the room to be sick etc (mostly because everything I’ve read on MN suggests that this is standard practice), but I emailed HR this afternoon, explaining my absence today and I got a lovely email back saying congrats, sorry to hear that I feel unwell and just don’t come in if I’m unwell. This makes me feel so much less worried, as I was wondering how to manage 6 lesson days when feeling like I am today. Time to focus on me and my little blueberry and hope to feel well enough to teach very soon.

mumma2oneDD · 28/11/2022 16:28

Hi all. Can I please join?

By my ovulation date I am 6 weeks today.
This is my 2nd pregnancy. I have a 14 month old DD.

I'm really annoyed with myself as I had booked an early reassurance scan the week after next however yesterday I had some sharp shooting pain on the left side so I rescheduled my upcoming appointment to this morning. The pregnancy was in the right place but it was so early they couldn't say whether it was viable and couldn't date the pregnancy or see a heartbeat. They've recommended I have another scan in 10-14 days. She did say all looked normal and there is a gestational sac and yolk sac. But now I've just worried myself and now have to wait in anticipation for another scan 🥺

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 16:31

@MamaSJ15 Ah it’s a struggle tbh. DD is 20 months and fortunately has only been up-chuck ill once so far, but it was pretty awful - literally my worst nightmare! I put on a covid mask for 2 days and washed my hands at every opportunity to avoid me getting it! I nearly opted not to have kids at all due to emetophobia due to a) the risk of me being sick during pregnancy and b) the risk of child being sick ever. Also nearly didn’t have gas and air during labour because I’d heard that it makes people sick.

I feel like I’m getting better with it now that I have a child, but do wonder about therapy because it is probably the thing I worry most about! How long have you had it?

BabyFour2023 · 28/11/2022 16:42

Hi everyone, please can I join? As my shiny new username suggests; I am 5+2 with baby number 4.
We have 1 girl and 2 boys; no preference and won’t be finding out the sex.
Had an early scan today due to some bleeding & cramping and all is well. Due 28/07/23.

leanneb94 · 28/11/2022 16:57

@MamaSJ15 I did think it was strange, I'll just be opening the kitchen cupboard or taking a shopping bag out the car or even just when I've just sat in the car and I'll gag even though nothing smells or anything! I'll be honest it's been hard, I had my implant removed after the 3 years to give my body a break in the hopes it would help me with losing weight as I'd put 2 stone on since being on it so I think at the moment I'm sad that I've lost that little chance to do what my body needed. Had my period a week after I had my implant removed and got pregnant the week after that so just couldn't believe it happened so quickly! I've booked a private scan for the 17th December when I'll be around 9 weeks in the hopes I'll connect a bit with what's happening.

@ThePodParent Yeah its awful when the nausea starts isn't it, I felt awful all last week but have been making sure I have a bite to eat in the morning soon as i get up and seems to be doing the trick so far, I cant seem to eat full meals at the moment, just snacking on bits throughout the day

candycrush789 · 28/11/2022 18:24

My phone won't let me tag anybody 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ but thank you ladies for your kind words. I have my scan tomorrow at 9.40am I will update after 🤞🤞🤞x

Fellow teacher here Smile I work in an SEN school and with my last two pregnancies (one DD aged 4, one MMC earlier this year) had very little time off. Literally dragging myself in feeling awful then being in bed at 6pm every night.

This time round I've already told myself that me and baby come first. School and class will cope without me if I need to take some time off. Equally the minute I start to feel stressed I'll be taking a step back!

How far along are you? I told my line manager quite early on with the previous 2 but have held off so far, saying that I'm only 5+3 Grin

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 19:10

@Pink Pamplemousse Firstly, very much enjoying your username! It’s my fave French word!

I’m 7+1 today. Really wish it was further along so that I had less of this feeling rubbish to get through!

I think, re teaching, we totally feel like we’re needed 100% of the time (which suits my character!), but it is good to remind ourselves that the school and kids will manage without us if we need to be off school.

ThePodParent · 28/11/2022 19:10

@Pink Pamplemousse (not sure why it didn’t tag you!)

Just wondering if you saw a heartbeat today?
I'm due on 24th July and have a scan on Wednesday.

MamaSJ15 · 28/11/2022 19:36

@ThePodParent I think yours actually sounds worse than mine if I'm honest. I didnt realise it was a thing until just over a year ago when my DD came down with a tummy bug, then again two weeks later (that I then caught) and again 4 weeks later. She's had a few other episodes since but not as bad. It was one of the main reasons I had put off having kids to start with to be honest because the thought of being ill in pregnancy scared me. I didn't realise how much it would effect me trying to deal with my DD when she's poorly and I felt like a terrible mother. I have been to therapy for it and I do think it has helped a bit, haven't been for a while but planning on going back soon I think.

No, I didn’t. Just saw gestational sac & yolk sac which they assured me is completely normal for this stage. They’ve booked me another for next Monday so I’ll be 6+2 and said should see heartbeat then. They may do the same for you! Good luck!

MamaSJ15 · 28/11/2022 19:44

@leanneb94 wow that was fast then! Not surprised you're struggling to connect to it. How does your partner feel about it?

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/11/2022 19:55

I feel like some symptoms have hit. I felt so sick last night I felt like I looked green! It lasted til about lunch time today. I had a couple of hours feeling ok and now back to feeling yuk.
With my DD I mostly have evening sickness. Hope I dont have morning and evening!

Hiya, I have a 5month old dd, do you find you're extra stressed about your second pregnancy?

I was ecstatic with my first, never even considered anything negative. Don't know why I'm torturing myself this time. I had a scan yesterday and all is well. I'm 7+5

I bet it's still some relief that everything is looking normal. I'd rather two scans than none! Hopefully the time flies now until your next.

@MamaSJ15 He's dealt with it really well tbh and is quite excited so is doing better than I am. Feel awful today and can't seem to stand having anything on my stomach so having to keep my trousers down low even though very far from showing 😔Think today is a day I feel like I could just cry

xogossipgirlxo · 29/11/2022 09:37

Morning everyone. Joining sickness club 😵I had really bad morning yesterday, because I was feeling weak, but nausea kicked in later on, and now I'm feeling like ran over by a car. Sitting down helps, so I shower sitting in the tub, I sit while I do my make-up, blow dry my hair etc. and only get up when necessary. I made salad for lunch today, and it makes me feel sick just thinking about it, so I quickly made a sandwich before I left for work. I was hoping I will be the chosen one, and sickness won't be my worry 😂
