I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and have my scan at 2pm but ive been feeling quite crampy and a few sharp twinges,no bleeding tho but feeling anxious for tomorrow in case if bad news

ancienthouse · 04/10/2022 07:47

@DBS94 I was awake half the night and kept having ridiculous dreams about the scan.

If everything looks OK today I will tell a few more people, like close friends, siblings. But I won't be announcing it or anything. I'll probably relax and make it more public, like if I happen to be in a picture with a bump etc, once the 20 week scan is all clear. I won't be so secretive after today though, if I see people I'll tell them if it comes up.

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 08:23

@simplythequest and @ancienthouse I had very bad heartburn with DD in the third trimester. I really feel for you @simplythequest that you have it so badly already! That sucks! 😔 I remember thinking it was worse than nausea and sickness (as I'm in the throes of sickness ATM I now take that back haha but I do remember it being horrible and I couldn't eat properly.)

Have you tried the gaviscon tablets? They're much nicer than the syrup, they're peppermint flavour. And they are stronger than Rennie's because they both neutralise the acid and also put a layer over the stomach to stop it bubbling up. I hated the aniseed flavour of the syrup but the tablets were great, only thing that worked. I had to have omeprazole recently for a while due to a stomach issues and it was horrible - couldn't deal with it at all, made me so bloated. So yes can understand wanting to come off that! It's a horrible medicine and can have long term nasty affects although if it does help short term I'd be doing it if suffering!

Do either of you (or anyone else) have excess saliva? I've just started having this. Again I had it with DD think I was about 17 weeks when it started so it's earlier this time 🙄 and I find I have to expel air out of my mouth to prevent me swallowing and burping. I remember it did pass, then got replaced with heartburn later on. The joys!

Best of luck for all the scans today and the rest of the week! Let us know how they all go 🍀🤞

I'm another one for Thurs, it's at 10:30am and I'll be 13+3 approx. Very nervous but excited too. Had horrible vivid dreams last night, loads of diff ones as I woke up so often- one where I started bleeding so that was scary 😩 but only a dream 🌷

Hi All, I'm new here! Had my 12 week scan yesterday morning, was so lovely seeing little bean wriggling around. I was told I am 12 weeks today, but baby was a bit curled up. I bled a few weeks ago, so had an earlier scan, and they'd dated me as 5 days further along than what they said yesterday, so I feel like my pregnancy is going backwards!! Best of luck for your scans, enjoy them - it's amazing to see ❤️

ancienthouse · 04/10/2022 08:34

@Skylark1990 unfortunately I can't have mint or mint flavours because it exacerbates GORD. I've never understood why so many antacids are mint!
I'm not sure what I going to do when it gets worse, eat tiny meals I guess and sleep upright and hope for the best. Omeprazole and lansoprazole etc really don't agree with me, they did something weird to my organs and caused a lot of pain.

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 08:38

Oh no that's bad luck @ancienthouse ! Sounds weird but have you tried baking soda in water? This can also help to neutralise stomach acid as it is alkaline. I used to do this whenever I had heartburn growing up, my mum would mix it for me. Also alkaline foods in general (look up the alkaline diet) can help.

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 08:39

Hi @appleandcheese and congratulations on your scan! It's strange how they can date so differently at different scans! If baby was curled up maybe that's why.

appleandcheese · 04/10/2022 08:48

Thank you @Skylark1990.
It is so reassuring reading other peoples experiences! I am hoping the nausea continues to calm down, as it has eased up over the last week. Very much looking forward to the burst of energy that I've been told about during 2nd trimester!

ancienthouse · 04/10/2022 08:51

@Skylark1990 thanks I might try that!
Choking on acid is the most terrifying thing in the middle of the night when your throat closes up, and I can manage the reflux so well now when I'm not pregnant that I'm really dreading it being bad in the third trimester! But if I get to the third trimester it'll be worth it 😊

DBS94 · 04/10/2022 09:32

Scan done! All looking good and measuring 13 weeks - EDD 11th April x

Any nub guesses?? X

I had terrible heart burn last night after eating some melon at 9:30, never felt a pain like it!

@DBS94 lovely scan!

Cuppasoupmonster · 04/10/2022 10:34

Just had the scan - measuring 13w4d so due date bumped forward to 7th April. All looking good and healthy ✨

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 10:57

Yay congrats @DBS94 and @Cuppasoupmonster !! Beautiful scan pics.
Can't see a nub in either of your pics but did you see one on the screen @Cuppasoupmonster for yours? What are you thinking?

Also interesting they bumped you forward - does that fit with your ovulation date(if known)? Just as you're being induced early so I guess good to square it up as otherwise baby might be actually being induced even earlier like 36 weeks?

lj2022 · 04/10/2022 10:59

@DBS94 I submitted mines to a website for nub analysis and just got it ack with 90% certainty that I'm having a boy. Would be lying if I didn't say I'm a little disappointed because I've always been such a girly girl and always wanted a daughter. What an amazing clear picture you have there! And your due date is the day after me

@Cuppasoupmonster what a lovely scan pic! I keep staring at mines from yesterday just so amazed !

Cuppasoupmonster · 04/10/2022 11:07

@Skylark1990 you know what I honestly don’t know! I saw a very clear ‘fork’ in the scan, but the photos are ambiguous - the one I just posted looks quite girly, but I got a few photos and this one is ‘boyish’. I can’t tell if it’s nub or leg! My LMP was 08.07, so I’m forward now by a whole week. I think I ovulated around day 11/12, so I expected to be forward by a few days, but it seems like a lot at this point. DD was put ahead by 5 days so it isn’t a huge surprise though. Im thinking if everything is healthy I will push for induction a few days after 37w just to cover my bases!

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 11:17

@Cuppasoupmonster Yes that latest pic does look more boyish as possibly some stacking? Interesting! I guess not long to wait as you're getting a gender scan soon?

Good idea to go for induction a little after 37 weeks if you can, as you say, just to cover the bases. They put DD forward 5 days too. According to the date we got at 12 week scan she came at 41+6 but I know when I ovulated as I was temping and according to that it was 41+1 I think? Which feels more likely haha but obviously some babies do come around 42 weeks and this is just another variation on normal! Plus my labour was so long. Expecting another "later" baby this time but just hopefully not such a long labour 😂 if they put me forward at the scan on Thurs I'm going to keep my original date in mind just to go off if they do push induction, as I'd want to stretch it out as much as poss as long as all looking healthy before being induced.

Gorgeous pics @DBS94 & @Cuppasoupmonster

lj2022 · 04/10/2022 11:43

@Skylark1990 that's the pictures there. I think I'm just hormonal today and I'm just very thankful baby is happy and healthy! I've said from the very start I suspect a boy anyway just that one wee bit of me that would still love a girl too 😂 will love it the same no matter what and would love the father son relationship for my other half as he never had his dad in his life so that part of me makes me so happy that it might be a boy!

@lj2022 I did two separate nub theory companies for my first, and a ramzi theory at that first 7 week scan. All
Of them said over 80% boy (can't remember exact but it was high) out popped a baby girl 😂 I still do and love the ramzi and nub theory though, this time two different companies have guessed, for ramzi theory, a boy or a girl, same picture sent to both but each had a different answer. Will I still be doing nub theory if I can? Yes, yes I will. I find it fascinating.

Interestingly though the Facebook nub theory group guessed girl when I put her 12 week scan photo in, everyone who commented said girl.

lj2022 · 04/10/2022 11:49

@Gilm0reGirl it's all fun to do isn't it. I want more kids anyway so I won't have massive disappointment anyway! Can't wait to find out for good in just under 3 weeks

When is your scan ? You'll need to update us on your nub theory when the time comes

Tamara93 · 04/10/2022 11:57

Has anyone had a 7 week scan? I had mine yesterday and the sonographer said one baby but the scan looks strange to me. I think I'm being paranoid because twins run in both sides of the family. Has anyone else had a scan similar to this and what is the other dark area?

Gilm0reGirl · 04/10/2022 11:59

@lj2022 my scan is on Friday afternoon. This pregnancy feels like maybe it's a boy so interested to see what nub guesses there are if we can see a nub. I'd love another girl if I'm honest but I know if they say boy that'll pass and I'll be excited for a boy. Are you going to have a gender scan? We think we will
Have another surprise, but it's tempting to know this time x

lj2022 · 04/10/2022 12:01

@Gilm0reGirl oh good luck for your scan! I was going to wait for a surprise but my partner really wanted to find out! we're finding out the gender on the 23rd hopefully 🤞🤞
