Checking in ☺️

KennAdams · 03/10/2022 11:30

@SavedByGraceAlone mines on Thursday too. I still feel like it's forever away. 😂 Think there's a few of us. Mines at 10.30 so luckily a morning appt.

Wow how exciting @limoncelloo bet you can't wait! Hope the HG improves soon for you.

We're going to go for a surprise this time round, we found it with our other DC so will be nice to it a little differently.

lj2022 · 03/10/2022 12:18

Had my scan today at 13 weeks bang on, baby was very active and not cooperating well for measurements but got there in the end. Massive relief to see everything healthy and moving forward. Hope everyone else with scans and appointments coming up goes well

@Hannah223344 When’s yours? Mine’s next Tuesday!

So excited. DH will be able to come and see baby this time, which he wasn’t allowed to do last time due to covid 🙄

limoncelloo · 03/10/2022 12:51

Update- it's a girl 💗

DBS94 · 03/10/2022 12:52

@limoncelloo aaaaah!! How lovely 💕💕

DBS94 · 03/10/2022 12:53

@lj2022 that's a lovely pic! Glad all is well x

Cuppasoupmonster · 03/10/2022 12:54

@limoncelloo fab! 💝

@SavedByGraceAlone I'm also on blood thinning injections and hating it every morning - stomach is bruised and tender and whilst I have no issues/fears re the needle, it really hurts sometimes when trying to pierce the skin! I think it's as the more I do, the higher chance of hitting a spot I've already injected in (despite alternating sides each day etc). How long are you on yours for? I've been told to take them continually until 6 weeks pp but I have read somewhere that you can't have an epidural if you have fragmin injections.. I don't want one in an ideal world but it seems odd to not have the option if needed!

@alwaysseeingstars, same here - I'm not scared of needles (unlike my DH who thinks I'm a hero for doing this every day!), but it's a pretty miserable routine. Some days I get a good one and it's smooth and easy. But I've also had a few where blood came out straight after pulling out the needle and the bruising after that has been brutal. Currently running out of space on the stomach and considering alternating with thighs - have you tried this? I guess this whole thing does help me understand a little bit how people with diabetes feel...

Somehow I'm only on these until 28 weeks, although am a bit worried about coming off them now... Wouldn't there be a sudden risk of clotting then? I'll need to investigate with the doctor a bit more on this!

Ah I wasn't told anything about epidural, but am on heparin, so don't know if it's different. I do understand how losing that option is not ideal!

SavedByGraceAlone · 03/10/2022 13:42

Those who haven't given birth before (or just remembering your first) - are you showing yet? Don't have children yet, and am supposed to be 12 weeks now. But barely have anything to show for it! No bump whatsoever, just a very tiny rise around the lower abdominal area.

Could be that I'm just getting very anxious before the scan this week so everything seems wrong!

PuddingBear · 03/10/2022 13:50

@SavedByGraceAlone I didn’t have a bump until 16+ weeks last time!

Second time around I’ve had a bump since about 9 weeks.

Springblooms08 · 03/10/2022 14:12

@SavedByGraceAlone I'm almost 12 weeks with my first and look exactly the same and think that's entirely normal!

bluebubbles12 · 03/10/2022 14:15

Checking in.

Congrats @limoncelloo! 🎀

alwaysseeingstars · 03/10/2022 14:15

@SavedByGraceAlone I've not tried the thighs, I did consider it but it says you have to do it in the outer thigh which doesn't seem fatty enough to me? I've got plenty in the inner thighs 😂but it suggests not to do it there. Mine is the same, only bruising when I get blood (the best way I've found to avoid this so far is lying down fully - I seem to bleed more when sitting up/standing). Also nothing showing as yet, I can feel a lump now really down low but that's all!

bluebubbles12 · 03/10/2022 14:19

I can't remember who asked, but I'd be up for joining a whatsapp group to get to know you all better. My thinking is maybe closer to the births though? Only because with my last due date whatsapp group it was crazy with messages, sometimes 100 or 200+ a day and I'm not sure I can keep up until I'm on maternity leave 🤣

I've got my first consultant's appointment tomorrow morning, so I'm intrigued to know what we're discussing. I'm high risk due to my DD being under the third centile at birth.

Haha, same here - got plenty of inner thigh but not much on the outer! Ah I might try lying down... Feels less in control somehow, but if it helps not bleed.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance about 'no bump' yet - makes me feel so much better.

alwaysseeingstars · 03/10/2022 14:49

Does anyone else suffer from heartburn, and have any suggestions for how to relieve it? Have been in agony the past few days 😣

AliceinSlumberland · 03/10/2022 14:49

I’d be happy to joint a WhatsApp group at some point :)

@SavedByGraceAlone im 12 weeks, sometimes the bottom of my tummy is quite hard, I feel like my belly in general is sticking out but in a chubby way not a bump way 😂

So exciting to see the 12 weeks scans and congrats on your lovely girl @limoncelloo ! Completely understandable @MrsC2018 and I’m so sorry about the loss of your baby.

Hannah223344 · 03/10/2022 14:50

@PuddingBear mine is next Monday ... anxious & excited in equal amounts! Good luck for next Tuesday x

AliceinSlumberland · 03/10/2022 14:53

Guys I’m confused about appointments. I’ve had a 16 week appointment through with a consultant and I’m not sure why. My midwife said I’d be consultant led because I have PCOS and am on metformin for it, but I’d never actually see a consultant and would only be consultant led on paper. She said I’d have to have an extra glucose test at 16 weeks because of the pcos but I’ve rang up to ask if that’s what it is and they’ve said it’s not, and I should have been sent a separate appointment for that (which I haven’t).

I was told to contact my midwife and I have but no reply. Has anyone been consultant led, is a 16 week appointment with the consultant standard? I feel a bit like im wasting their time!

AliceinSlumberland · 03/10/2022 14:53

Oooo @Hannah223344 mines next Monday too!

13 weeks today and dating scan tomorrow. Terribly anxious, as it was in the weeks after my 12 week scan I lost my last baby. NIPT has come back low risk though and another little girl 💖 will try and engage more with this thread to think positive about this one! Sickness has lifted by I'm still so very tired, getting up twice a night for the toilet probably doesn't help though! How's everyone else doing?

I'm so sorry to hear this, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow xx
