Good morning lovely ladies!

I was missing yesterday as I had an awful work situation. That was quite a big catch up, lots of results are coming in for this group now and looking to be reassuring. We learn a lot in here don’t we!

@Cuppasoupmonster @Skylark1990 - I’m just picking up on how you girls are feeling about being out of sorts and feeling a bit low. I’m a professional athlete and was taken off all exercise. I went from training Hard twice a day and being on a World championship stage in May to zero. The change in my physical appearance, routine and how I feel physically has been a sharp contrast. I’ve had to put mechanisms in place to fulfil myself mentally and physically so I’ve swapped exercise for well-being work, I have non negotiables however busy I am and make time for something that benefits my body (even if it’s 10mins off stretching against a wall), I get nutrient dense foods in daily (I appreciate that’s hard when you have sickness but when you can you get it in), and I give myself a kick to be presentable even when I can’t be bothered. So many times a week I do or book something for myself - chiro, accupuncture, even just de-fluffing the crazy amount of hair I’m now growing, nails…whatever. Whatever is your jam, make a little time and you’ll 100% feel better.

It’s all stuff we know, e we just need a poke to do it sometimes! What are you doing today for yourself?

..and remember that your body is working a muscle right now. Be kind to yourself too :) Xx

Chocolat · 15/10/2022 07:11

Hi everyone, my 20 week scan came through but it’s at a GP surgery. Do you know if we can change/request it to be at a hospital?
Just a bit worried as my 12 week scan was at a GP surgery and I had the worst quality picture I’ve ever seen. Plus my NT was on the higher side of normal so don’t want to miss anything..

Pommy1 · 15/10/2022 07:13

@Chocolat Id ask if you can change it. 100%. I changed hospitals for mine so I don’t see why not depending on what you live.

Chocolat · 15/10/2022 07:48

@Pommy1 thanks I’ll definitely push for it. I was honestly so disappointed with my 12 week scan

Pommy1 · 15/10/2022 08:36

@Chocolat you need that clear nub 😉 Plus, it’s your first visual of your baby, you want to see him or her. It’s something lovely to keep too. My 7 week check was printed on loo roll and it’s the only copy I have and it’s such a shame. In this day and age, they should be decent quality everywhere.

Skylark1990 · 15/10/2022 09:08

@Chocolat defo ask to get it at the hospital! Explain your reasons and I'm sure it'll be fine. That's weird they do it at the GP?

@Pommy1 thank you and you're so right, I just need to make 10-30 mins for myself most days for a bit of exercise and I know I'd feel better. It's so hard to squeeze it in as a work full time and have a toddler and with all the sickness it had been impossible. But now I'm feeling a bit better I need to get back into a good routine. That's so cool you are a professional athlete! Are you famous? Haha I always wonder if we are talking to famous people... I remember deliciously Ella saying she used Mumsnet with her first daughter.

@LauraA31 one thing to consider is whether your eyesight has changed? It can change in pregnancy, mine got worse and I got headaches, particularly bad from looking at screens etc. Maybe get an eye test! Hope you're ok and the strips help x

Can I join in? I was on another thread but it's not very active. I'm 15+4 and due 4th April. I already have 2 girls who are 8 and 4. Will be 9 and 5 by the time this one comes. My youngest's birthday is 30th March and mine is 12th April.so I'm hoping nobody will have to share a birthday. Although I tend to go a little early with my others born at 35+1 and 38 weeks exactly so we'll see.

I've already had 2 scans, 1 at 11 weeks and then again at 13 weeks as the first time it was just a couple of days too early for the screening. Everything seems to be fine so far and nt screening results low risk. Surprisingly sickness hasn't been too bad this time around as it was horrendous with my 1st 2 (wondering if this could mean a boy?). However on Monday I've managed ti di my back in somehow so I've been in agony and unable to move properly since then. The gp has prescribed me some strong painkillers but they make me very sleepy which isn't great with 2 other kids to look after, so I'm just trying to stick with half the dose just now as paracetamol doesn't touch the pain at all. I've got an appointment with antenatal physio on 26th although it's just a telephone appointment.

Chocolat · 15/10/2022 11:03

@Pommy1 yes definitely want to know the gender haha. You’d think they would, I guess the portable machines that they fob off to the GP surgery are the old ones.

@Skylark1990 yes I found it odd too. There’s only one GP surgery in my hospital catchment area that does the 20 week scan but after my last experience I don’t trust it lol will definitely change it.

Pommy1 · 15/10/2022 11:14

@Skylark1990 haha no. I’m only famous to my family and the people I beat 🤣 They tend to remember you. I compete professionally but it isn’t my main job. I’m from architectural background, but since covid I’ve been working in photography to have a change. :)

what do you guys do? xx

tattlytote · 15/10/2022 11:17

Hi all
NIPT came back low risk for all, and I'm having a boy! I have a 5 year old DD so feeling in shock, but happy ☺️

Peachesthecat · 15/10/2022 11:47

Hi all, hope your well? 13 weeks on Monday and scan on Tuesday and I am a nervous wreck! My age isnt helping my anxiety either (40) 🙄 I know there’s nothing I can do or anything anyone can say but my husband is sick of me worrying so I do it here!
have a lovely weekend mummas xxx

DBS94 · 15/10/2022 12:03

@Chocolat that's so strange I've never heard of it to be at GP surgery! Where in the world are you? I would give them a call and say you weren't happy with the quality at 12 week scan and that you didn't get to see much of baby

Is it a midwife who does it at the GP surgery? X

Chocolat · 15/10/2022 12:14

@DBS94 So my 12 week scan was also at a GP surgery and that was a midwife who did the scan. Not sure who would be doing the 20 week one. Yes hopefully they will be able to change it, I don’t see why not considering most peoples are done at the hospital. I’m based in England, Birmingham x

@tattlytote congrats, wonderful news!

LauraA31 · 15/10/2022 12:21

So; this is going to sound really daft but think i need a bit of reassurance if possible 😂😂

Im in work and a friend told me to press between my thumb and finger to pressure point headaches away, i did it for around 10 seconds and stopped (didn’t feel pain etc) but then had a google thinking it was a great idea in future and google told me that pressure point can cause miscarriage…… part of my brain knows im overreacting but the other part is very concerned ha!

Springblooms08 · 15/10/2022 12:49

@LauraA31 I’ve never heard of such a thing and I honestly can’t see any possible way that could cause a miscarriage. I really would say stay away from google as much as you can. Would it possible for you to reframe some of these thoughts and to tell yourself that it’s anxiety, not anything based in reality? I mean this all in the kindest possible way from a fellow very anxious person!

LauraA31 · 15/10/2022 12:52

@Springblooms08 i completely agree! I think the bleeds have put me completely on edge 🤦🏼‍♀️
I have never felt anxious before pregnancy and i know i need to settle and enjoy it..
Strangely i didn’t google for anything bad, i googled to see if there was any better ones to do for migraines and that came up ha! I think i needed somebody to tell me to snap out of it so thank you! X

Springblooms08 · 15/10/2022 12:59

@LauraA31 I completely understand and pregnancy is a time of insane anxiety, even for the most level headed person I think. I’ve only begun to feel better in the last couple of weeks, I felt like I didn’t cope well with early pregnancy at all mentally, so I totally understand how these things can feel. Also when you’ve been feeling poorly with bad headaches for a while now I think it’s normal to also feel worse mentally than you otherwise would, it just throws you off! You’ve got this!!!! X

Springblooms08 · 15/10/2022 14:07

Does anybody know about the ranges of bHCG and PAPP-A? Just got my screening letter through and the results are low risk which is great news. My bHCG corr MoM is 0.33 which seems really low. Does anybody know?

Longbin · 15/10/2022 14:28

@Springblooms08 is the only score you get the correlation? Mine was 0.2 in my first pregnancy and I had growth scans and was induced early. Not sure if that is the correlation though

1stimer16 · 15/10/2022 14:36

@Springblooms08 hi, I am the same my MoM results are classed as low however I am low risk for abnormalities and pre eclampsia, the sonographer said my baby look absolutely healthy and don’t get caught up on the numbers. She said she has checked the baby for the other soft markers they check for on the scan when you get a low result and the baby was scanning as normal. So I was worried but she said don’t google it, otherwise it will make you worry and you don’t need to….so I’m just taking her advice!
Our scan was really in depth, she checked the vessels on the cord, blood flow to baby and placenta, we heard the heartbeat, and then she flipped the sensor and we saw like a thermal imaging of the heart working, brain, stomach and kidneys!

Springblooms08 · 15/10/2022 14:40

These are the results if they make more sense? @Longbin @1stimer16

Babies due April 2023 Thread 6
1stimer16 · 15/10/2022 14:45

@Springblooms08 both my HCG and Papp A are low, she wasn’t concerned and she checked all the anatomy of baby and said they looked perfect and everything is growing as it should be, nasal bone, baby’s heart looked good, my placenta blood flow was good, I had 3 cord vessels, skull and brain shape looked normal. Maybe some people just have lower levels 🤷🏻‍♀️
I have my 20 week scan booked in for 19/12 so she said they will just double check everything again then.

Longbin · 15/10/2022 14:50

Sorry I don't understand that as I didn't have the hcg or the other result. I would think that was high for Papp-a though as it's over 1

Skylark1990 · 15/10/2022 15:07

@Springblooms08 what are those results for? Pappa or bHCG?

I think a score close to 1 for HCG is good. Is your risk overall low? Do you have the overall risk numbers? As that's the important thing.

For downs they worry about HCG being high and pappa being low. Think it's slightly different for patau and Edwards.
