I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

For some reason the reply isn't working ?! They're £60 by me for the early scans

B1993 · 06/10/2022 20:23

@CaliGirl47 Thank you for checking in, I appreciate it 😊 I ended up caving and testing early on Tue (4+6) so of course got 2-3. I ordered 2 more tests from Amazon so tested Wednesday when I got home with a short hole and got another 2-3! 😥 I'll test in the morning as I date myself as 5+2 then. If I don't get 3+, I've decided I'm not buying anymore especially since I've got my scan next week so hopefully that will be all the reassurance I need.

£60 seems standard cost by the sounds of things - that's what it is in my area, too, for a 10 min appointment.

B1993 · 06/10/2022 20:24

**short hold 🤦🏻‍♀️

CaliGirl47 · 06/10/2022 20:38

Thanks for all the replies. 👍🏼 £60 seems to be the going rate in my local area as well. I feel like it was only £30 last time when I booked my gender scan for DD. But maybe I’m not remembering it properly 🙃 I’m really hoping I can hold off for the 12 week NHS scan but I have a feeling I’m going to get to 8 weeks and feel like the NHS scan is ages away 😩 I haven’t even got my booking in appointment yet. The online pregnancy notes doesn’t apply to my area it seems, so I have to wait on GP/community midwife.

@B1993 Oh man. That must’ve been frustrating for you. Hopefully you will get the result you are looking for tomorrow. If not, then I’m sure it’s no reason to panic. Those tests aren’t 100% And they are very pricey, I think I’d rather save money on any future pregnancy tests and put it towards a scan or something tangible for baby. So I think your plan makes sense. And at least you’ve got your scan next week so it’s not long to wait. Hopefully it goes well for you at the scan and that will offer you some reassurance. 🌼

CaliGirl47 · 06/10/2022 20:56

And in case this helps anyone else who is struggling with anxious thoughts or all of the pregnancy what-ifs..….. My current mantra is this:
“I am pregnant until proven otherwise”

(PUPO a term I have borrowed from the IVF community)

Whatever tomorrow brings I have no control over, but I want to enjoy the journey I am on today and trust that things will work out. Because even if they don’t work out, I have no control over that either and worrying about it won’t change the situation. I saw something else the other day that helped put things into perspective for me so I will attach it in case it might help anyone else. Wishing you all the best on your pregnancy journeys 💕🤰🏻

@CaliGirl47 Love those mantras. I try to live life thinking that worrying doesn't help me. If it's not going to change what'll happen, why worry.

DH today has eaten 2 big bars of chocolate and now eating a big tube of smarties. He never eats sweets. He doesn't know why he's craving. I think he's having a man pregnancy and channeling my hormones 😂Lucky him as I have no appetite still.

Okapi99 · 06/10/2022 22:36

I'm paying £70 for mine. I could have got it for £49 in the next town over but they were busy for the next week or 2.

B1993 · 07/10/2022 06:59

@CaliGirl47 It definitely was frustrating, but.... I got my 3+ this morning!!! It technically wasn't FMU as I got up at 2am to pee, but I'm thrilled as now it shows my hCG is definitely on the rise 🥲🥳💚 I'm pretty sure my dates are accurate and I'm 5+2 today.

Hubby's response to the test was to tell me not to waste anymore money on them trying to get a 4+ etc. I explained that it's the top result you can get so it's like getting an A at school but of course he didn't get it 🙈 Am I on my own here ladies to feel like that?! Same with dye stealers, like they're the A of the test world?! 😂

I was also pregnant 4 years ago with DS and I remember paying £60 for the gender scan but those seem to have gone up to around £80 now.

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 07/10/2022 07:02

@BellaTheDarkOverlord re symptoms just major fatigue and a pain when I sneeze down bottom right of my abdomen which I've read is normal? Also super bloated already!

CaliGirl47 · 07/10/2022 07:12

That’s wonderful! 🎉🎉 @B1993 Congratulations! 🥳 I’m so pleased for you. I know it really brought me some reassurance to see that improvement from 2-3 to 3+. It’s nice to know little bub is progressing and growing. Haha your DH sounds just like mine. 😂 I’ve been banned from buying any more tests. That’s interesting what you’ve said regarding U/S prices as well. I feel convinced I got a deal on it with my previous pregnancy but it must’ve been a Groupon or something. Plus I probably had much more expendable income with no DC 4 years ago 😆

hahahaha @BellaTheDarkOverlord Sounds like he’s definitely got some sympathy pregnancy symptoms going on. 🍫🍫

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 07/10/2022 07:17

I'm a little worried my HCG isn't going up much. I did a clear blue today at 5 weeks and it's still 1-2 weeks. Used fmu. I wonder if that's why as normally I get stronger results on afternoon tests. I'm thinking of maybe doing one in the afternoon instead.

CaliGirl47 · 07/10/2022 07:24

Hi @BellaTheDarkOverlord
sorry to hear you are worried. I can completely understand as I would feel the same way. I know these tests aren’t 100% accurate so it might not be an accurate reading. But it definitely says on the packet to use FMU and if you get a result you weren’t expecting to speak with your Dr. Maybe you could ask GP or EPU to do some blood work to check HCG? It might be nothing. But that’s what I would be inclined to do in this situation.

Gryffindoratheart · 07/10/2022 07:38

Good morning!

Hoping I can join you all.

I had IUI with donor sperm on 26th September, so today is 11 days since then and I have just had a faint BFP! I am so happy but obviously keeping it quiet for now.

My official testing day for the clinic is 12th October so I'm really hoping for some good line progression over the next few days.

This will be my first baby so hoping this is a sticky bean! My EDD is 19th June 2023.

I will have a scan at the clinic at around 7
Weeks.

Congrats to all of you with BFPs!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 07/10/2022 07:40

@CaliGirl47 Thanks. I might try go but ours are very useless. Can't even get through to the reception let alone get an appointment. Our EPU says go through gp. I'm not sure when I ovulated either or conceived as I wasn't testing at the time. I'll try gp and see what they say. They are quite rubbish with blood tests though too. They'll give me an appointment in about a month's time 😂

B1993 · 07/10/2022 07:53

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I'm sorry the CB have given you more anxiety. I felt just the same when I didn't get my 3+ when I expected to. Could you have possibly ovulated later, which would make you less weeks than your last period would date you? The tests aren't an exact science either. There's such a huge range of 'normal' when it comes to hCG levels, you might just be someone that has lower levels (that's not a bad thing - as long as it's still rising). There's plenty of stories of women not getting a 3+ until 6 or 7 weeks pregnant but they still go on to have completely normal and healthy pregnancies.

Have your lines been progressing after 48hrs on strip tests? If so, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As @CaliGirl47 you could try the GP. In my experience, EPU will only entertain the idea of seeing you after 6 weeks. When I asked last month for my hCG to be tested after spotting the gp rendered me to EPAU and they refused as I wasn't 6 weeks. If you don't have luck there, Holland and Barrett do a hCG level blood test. I think they're quite expensive though.

B1993 · 07/10/2022 08:04

@Gryffindoratheart Congratulations! 🥳 Lovely to see more ladies getting postives and joining in with the thread.

@ExcitedandNervousC1 I've also been getting the pain when sneezing. It's not every time but I've had a cold so have noticed it a bit!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 07/10/2022 08:22

@B1993 thanks yes I was getting darker lines each day on cheapies. I also got darker frers too. Stopped cheapy testing now but thought I'd try the digital one. Might have to ring gp.

LondonBundleOfJoy · 07/10/2022 08:40

Good morning!! 🤰🙂
I am also happy to announce a miracle pregnancy after 3 long years +1 miscarriage in the winter 2022. Baby is due in June 2023! I am 43 and anxious a bit because of previous miscarriage, but super positive and excited for growing family! Have only discovered on 1st of October and have ordered many tests from Amazon to test daily to reduce my anxiety and make me believe the blessing is on the way! Feel free to connect with me. We can talk about midwifes, Baby-Bump milestones and perhaps about how we can prepare our existing children for such mega life changing Blessing! 😘

LondonBundleOfJoy · 07/10/2022 08:43

Wow congratulations! BFP here too and baby is due around 22 of June 2023!

B1993 · 07/10/2022 08:50

@BellaTheDarkOverlord Given that your lines are getting darker, I'd personally take that as a good sign. Hopefully your GP will be more helpful than mine was!

@LondonBundleOfJoy Congrats and welcome 😊

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 07/10/2022 08:53

Thanks all x

Congrats newcomers! Goodluck for sticky bean!

CaliGirl47 · 07/10/2022 09:05

Congratulations to all the BFP today. 💕💕🤰🏻Lots of sticky baby dust to you all! ✨

LondonBundleOfJoy · 07/10/2022 09:38

Thank you B1993 for your kind message! I have sent Self-referral to the chosen hospital, as my GP said they do not deal with search for Midwife and I remember ending with miscarriage at emergency unit of Early Pregnancy Department after Valentine's day. That was absolutely heartbreaking, but the frog who jumped on my doorstep unusually in February I believe was a Hequet, the Goddes of Fertility, who came to show protection and I am superstitious usually and took it as a kind omen from higher forces. She almost jumped on me when was opening the front door and this experience happened within 1 hour when the embryo came out. The frog came again later but to my garden, I just felt she is following me! Gosh I was mesmerised by this experience.

Anyone had any surreal experiences or observations made, repeated superstition signs perhaps leading to your pregnancy?

LondonBundleOfJoy · 07/10/2022 09:40

Thank you! Have send my messages above too, so maybe you may spot my name again in the thread. Congratulations!!!

NalaNana · 07/10/2022 10:50

I had my "checking for ectopic" scan today at 6 weeks (LMP). She said I was measuring 5+5 which was expected. Everything looking as it should apparently! Saw the gestational sack and yolk sack. No heartbeat yet but they said it was too early for that. No follow up scan but will probably book a private one at 8ish weeks to check!
