Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

Seaside congratulations how exciting How are you? Big hugs

MrsMC sorry I missed your post I am usually up late... however know nothing about contractions so maybe just as well! Good luck I can't wait to hear your next update.

I hope everyone else is doing well... I am reading your baby posts with avid interest as I have a lot to learn.

Yesterday three baby/birth books arrived so I am trying to read ahead. Tonight I took dh to see local hospital which we've decided is definitely not for us! So now we're going to try and get referred to St Thomas which we were very happy with when we visited

Next challenge is working out what antenatal classes involve. I joined NCT stupidly as they don't have any classes in my area

Yesterday my free prescription card arrived. Did your midwifes give you the form. Its quite useful lasts until 1 year after the birth apparently.

Have a great evening.

cityangel · 24/01/2008 19:13

Greedy I hope it works out for your sister.

fettleandbabyfettle · 24/01/2008 20:34

Hello - just baby-news checking!!

Hope everyone is ok?

Chooster, firsty & Bodders - Can I join the sleepless nights club? Having been fantastic, Toby is definitely not so good anymore!! But i agree the nighttime cuddles are so lovely!! Nearly bought some baby rice and formula today, but resisted!! i will get to at least 20 weeks before I start weaning him!!!

Take care all

Bodkin · 24/01/2008 20:44

I was just wondering about your sis the other day Greedy... hope things work out for her.

Wonder how Mrs is getting on?

Actually, come to that, wonder how Seaside and Beansprout are getting on. Mind you I think it took me about 4 days to get round to posting on here after Isla, so I suppose that's fair enough

Much better day today with my little Grumpster. DP is very good at just walking around carrying her (which always keeps her quiet, but means you can't really do anything else) so he's been taking over at the really stressful times (mornings and evenings) DD1 has just been so fantastic and patient with her grotty little sis (and grotty old mum ), she's just the best. I guess it is probably teething related as the Nurofen seemed to help, and I remember DD1 getting nappy rash from hell whenever teeth were on their way. Anyway, thanks for all the sympathy, it's a big help

Chooster · 24/01/2008 21:44

BABY NEWS ALERT *

The mini-mac is here!!!! . Little Xavier was born at 5.10pm weighing 7lbs 8oz... MrsMc's DH said that it all went fantastically well and everyone is well and happy. .... Oooh, I love baby news!!!

You next Iampg!!!! Fab... .

Chooster · 24/01/2008 21:51

Phew, right I can catch up a bit now... Just wanted to get that posted in case any of you are on.

Loving the images of you with pedometer clamped to the nipple Greedy! I've just been out for another night time walk with mine on and gained another 5k steps which is not too bad. I still can't get up to 18k, what do you do all day?

Glad that you've had a slightly better day Bodkin. I really do feel for you. It will pass though and she'll be as brilliant as DD1 before long and this grumpy phase will all be a distant memory - you never know you may even contemplate DC3 .

That is SUCH a shame about your boss fettle. Its nice when you've been able to get a good working relationship with someone, particularly when you need a little flexability regarding kids. My boss is a 30-something workaholic who has no kids and no social life from what I can tell, so he's not exactly easy to approach when DS was ever ill etc. Hopefully though the next one will be just as good. Maybe you'll get some inside knowledge when you meet her for lunch. Good news about the childminder though?? Do you think that will work out??

Sounds like you are getting prepared city which is brilliant! Its a lovely time once you start reading up about things for your first baby. I'm quite envious .

Chooster · 24/01/2008 21:53

Just to clarify, when I said I went out for a walk with my pedometer on, it wasn't on my nipple.... Just in my hand

honeyapple · 24/01/2008 22:10

Hurrah!!! Thanks for the news Chooster ...

Xavier- lovely lovely- we knew it was a boy! A lot of boys all at once... did Beansprout know what she was having?

Cant wait to hear more news,

Honey - he's gorgeous!!!!! This thread really does produce good-looking babies!!!!!

Almost recovered Honey!!! But Oh I want to cuddle a newborn!!! - so many around but all so far away - hope you 3 new mums are coping well and enjoying. Cant wait to hear from you all!!!

Iampg - bet you're getting even more excited now!

On to other less interesting matters!! Childminder this morning was nice enough but reaffirmed my feelings about childminders in that if I'm going to have 1 person look after my child I'd rather it was in my own home and preferably me!!!! Nursery I can see other advantages too, but a CM is simply passing your children on - these are my own personal thoughts, so feel free to disagree!!! Wish I had family close by!! What to do with DD in the holidays is my only worry! Everything else I can cover assuming work let me work my flexible part-time hours. Sorry - just needed to get that off my chest!!

Chooster - hope your boss is understanding!

Firsty - how you getting on working girl?

Bodders - hope Isla's bot is improving? Poor girl. I really feel for you - I'm blessed with a relatively happy baby, who doesn't sleep and needs pretty constant entertainment (like his sister!!!!), but that not as tiring as constant grumpiness! Chooster is right though - it will pass! Don't feel left out with your girls - you're really lucky!! I think on the whole girls stay closer to their mothers over their lifetime (And you get to plan 2 weddings@!!!!!).

Honey - how is dexter excema? Clearing up or do you think he'll have it for a long time?

City - do these new reports on maternity services help with your choice of hospitals? I seem to have been really lucky and both NHS Trusts for DD and Toby came out best, and I couldn't really fault either!

Greedy - still can't get over your pedometer antics!!

ooooohhhh - I can't wait to see new baby pictures!! Should really put a recent one up of Toby for you all - noone can believe he's only 4months!

Brilliant news Chooster - thanks for letting us know. And yes, we all knew it would be a boy somehow didn't we!

Sooooo pleased everything went well for them and the mini mac has arrived safely. What wonderful news and a fab name.
How do you pronounce it, is it "Havier" or "Zavier"?

Back later xx

honeyapple · 25/01/2008 14:00

Bodders- I think Xavier is pronounced with an S sound- there is a boy at DS1's football club- and that is how he says his name. (Not necessarily a reliable source though!)

Fettle- slightly agree with you about childminders- although my neighbour is one and she is lovely- I had a friend whose kid was with a childminder, and I saw them in a pub- the baby was in its buggy with some juice in a bottle and the women was downing a pint! Well- not saying this is bad- ok if you are the mum- but not really on if you are being paid to look after... Oh and my friend is a childminder and she is FAB- plans loads of crafty activities etc... so, I guess it depends on the person. Yes- please upload a new Toby pic .

CONGRATULATIONS Mrs!!!!! cant wait to hear more!!! so annoyed that i havent been able to get on here all day and havent known your news for so long!

chooster - i only sometimes get up to 18,000 steps! not every day, its normally more like 15,000. have another child!!!! that will take your no. of steps up!!! and arent you supposed to wear your pedometer on your hip so it can monitor your movement? or is yours different to mine?

fettle - glad to hear you are still an emotional wreck!!! and i get that with marcy too......"oooooo is she really only 3 1/2 months?!!!" guess she is a monster babe! dont say that about childminders fettle!!! my last one was fab and after seeing our local nursery and hearing what my sis says about the one she works in i could never have put mine into a nursery! i am in the process of finding a new childminder cos mine gave up and its really worrying! the one i have found seems lovely though and seeing as i will only use her for 4 hours a week i dont feel too bad!

hey firsty - dont worry about tys sleeping . it CAN'T last forever can it?!!! have you persuaded dh to have another one yet???!!

iampg......what is your due date???

hponey - i LOVE dexs sleepsuit!!

i think we have some really cool baby names on this thread by the way!!!

we have had a fab day......all 3 kids have been angels!!!.........so far...there is still the bathtime teatime bedtime chaos to cope with!!! but i have been so proud of them all today...........if only every day was like today!!! and someone told me she was pg today and it made me SOOOOOOOOOO broody...........after me lying in bed last night thinking 3 was definately enough and dh should have the snip!!!.........i just cant decide!!!

come on you new mums.......................i need details!!!!!!
