Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

honeyapple · 23/01/2008 14:50

iampg- that sounds a very sensible birth plan to me- dont think I was as together as you sound when I had DS1 (I was 22). I found gas and air to be very effective- but I had to have a few puffs on it before it worked- and also before I got over the initial sickiness it gave me (i did actually puke at one point whilst in labour with dex- prob due to the entonox- but it really helped with the contractions so I didnt mind!). With pushing out you will probably be advised to stop using the gas cos it stops you pushing as effectively. My MW gave me really good pushing advice- relax your jaw, dont clench teeth/mouth- it is natural instinct to do this, but as soon as I relaxed my top half- Dex came out!

greedy- well done on the weight loss- thats more than half a stone isnt it??

OP posts:
greedygreedyguzzler · 23/01/2008 16:52

only a skinny person would have to ask if 9 1/4 lb is more than half a stone!!!!!! yes honey, it is!!! 14lb in a stone!!!

iampg - think your birth plan sounds fab, but catching oscar yourself in the water sounds a bit unrealistic. i could never have imagined being able to do that with my waterbirth!! but you will probably be more composed than me!

honeyapple · 23/01/2008 17:42

Sorry greedy! I dont have any scales at home- so I dunno what I weigh... 9 1/4lb sounds pretty impressive- how long have you been officially on your diet?

Where is Mrs??? Surely she'd have been on today to post and congrat Seaside... (sorry Mrs if you are just too busy or cant be arsed to post!!)

MrsMcJnr · 23/01/2008 19:18

I?m here, sorry to disappoint was avoiding MN today as got fed up with ladies due weeks after me popping on my AN thread BUT I can?t believe I missed your news Seaside, how exciting congratulations!! I am so pleased for you and am dying to hear more! X

Chooster ? thanks for all your soothing words DH was in a better mood last night, at least, he was with me! Good luck with the dreaded chat with work x

Fettle ? sorry to hear that there is a spanner in the return to work plan, I hope you find a workable solution.

Oh Beansprout dying to hear from you!!

Greedy ? hope your day got better hon and well done on the weight loss!

Thanks Rainbowdays

Firsty ? thanks for your thoughts hon sorry to hear things are so frantic with you.

Iampg hi hon, your plan looks perfect. Are you going to do a hospital birth plan too just in case? If so, they might limit you to 2 people on the labour ward. You might like to add that you?d like them to use a waterproof Doppler in the pool to listen to the baby?s heart beat so that you don?t have to get out (sure they would at home but might be worth stating if you go to hospital) couple of other things that I have on mine: do you want to be given words of encouragement, will it help to hear that you are doing well? do you want the cord to stop pulsing before it is cut? Do you or DP want to confirm the baby?s sex yourself or be told? If you want to see my plan just to compare let me have your email address

fettleandbabyfettle · 23/01/2008 20:00

Hi all

sorry you're still here and fed-up Mrs - Hang in there - it won't be long now. When you next seeing your consultant? I wish there was someway we could help you along your way! Your birthplan sounds very very detailed and organised! this baby of yours is going to get a very well prepared and wondeful mother!

Iampg - you do, as Honey said, sound very sure and in control. Are you sure you're only in your early 20's? I can't imagine being so in control 10 years ago!!. You also are going to be fantastic as a mother! And your birth plan sounds great, but I can't really comment on waterbirth etc. The only thing I'd say to both you and Mrs is to be prepared for them to not really pay any attention to your birth plan! i had one for both my births (very limited ones at that) and I was still asked at every stage what I wanted. But at least I'd looked into things beforehand, so when asked about vit K etc I knew what I wanted!

As for pushing, I agree with Honey - you'll be advised not to use Gas and Air while pushing. And TBH, I didn't really want to. It was much easier to hold onto the sides of the bed with my hands and concentrate just on pushing with each contraction. Best advice I was given was to push silently - put all your energy into pushing and not into screaming/shouting about it! Keep your chin on your chest and push with each contraction like you've never poo'd in your life before!!

anyway on that pompous I've done it all before note, I'll shut up!!!

Greedy - that weight loss is fantastic. Toby has stopped eating quite so much, which is much less exhausting for me, and also means my weight loss has stopped [boo]. Must actually watch what i'm eating now, but I have a mental need to eat again at the mo - these dark, rainy days are affecting me a bit at the moment. Need some sunshine! Hope you and DS have made up now! I so hate it when I'm tired and shout at DD. She was so distraught this afternoon, as our car was a bit unwell and I couldn't drive her to gym! But i phoned a friend who came round with her daughter, which saved what would have been a very unhappy afternoon!

Hope it all went well for Beany today! Did we know what sex she was having, I can't remember?

Sleep well all!
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 23/01/2008 20:13

iampg - i agree with fettle about your birth plan! dont expect them to take too much notice.................my friend is a mw and said they just laugh when they see really detailed plans.....so i have never written one. but............... having said that...............my mw this time was so lovely and into natural births etc and cos i was in a lovely birthing unit and had her all to myself (as you will).............. she asked me LOADS of questions about my birth plan and dh and i had to kind of make it up on the spot!!! so its good to be prepared!

mrs - when are you 10 days over.............THATS the time to have a baby!!!! 40+10.............best time to give birth...........ask honeyapple!!! it does get annoying when people start popping all over the shop doesn't it (seaside excluded obviously!!!)......but people you dont know so well who are due 3 weeks after you....................AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! i remember the frustration well!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 23/01/2008 20:17

made up with ds by the way!!! hes gorgeous really!!!!....... and so good most of the time...... which is what makes it so hard when he is a git, cos i dont know how to cope wth it!!! normally i put him in his bedroom till he calms down and its fine, but when you are in a rush (as i was this morning!!) theres no time for disciplining the sensible calm way.......just crazy shouting on my part!!!!!

by the way...............i am SO obsesssed with my pedometer that i was trying to figure out a way of keeping it attached to me whilst having sex the other night so it could register the activity and show me how many extra points i had earned!!!.........how sad am i hey?!!!..........dh suggested clipping it to my nipple by the way!!!

minxi · 23/01/2008 20:21

Seaside fantastic news - well done you...
come on MrsMc and Iampg your turn now

Beansprout hope all went well for you too x

Bodkin · 23/01/2008 21:16

Aw, can't believe we've got 2 new babies on here now! Hope things are going well for Beansprout and Seaside.

Mrs and Iampg - so impressed at your birth plans and knowledge of the whole birth procedure - blimey, i was nothing like that informed with either of mine! I think Fettle and Honey have given some sound advice on the pushing bit. Just to add don't get frustrated if it feels like it's 1 step forward, 1 step back when pushing - you are making progress all the time. I remember imagining I was climbing a huge mountain, and I just had to cling on to each little ledge with my fingertips. It really helped to keep me focused somehow [bonkers]
But you'll find your own ways of getting through it. It is the most amazing achievement

Chooster - don't worry - Isla's sleeping is still a source of constant frustration for me! Tried doing a dreamfeed again the other evening, to see if it made any difference, but, as before, actually made things worse! I think after Centerparcs, I'm going to try to stop the night feeds. Frankly, I'm losing the plot with the sleep deprivation! I threw a cup of tea out the french windows this afternoon [not setting my 4 year old a very good example I know, but it was either the tea cup or the baby ]. I meant to throw it on the lawn, but somehow ended up nearly throwing it through the neighbours window I don;t know how I would have explained that.

Firsty - that's good to hear that you've got your evenings back and that Ty is going down well at 8pm. You must be shattered with all the night wakings though. Those teeth are so pesky aren't they.

Greedy - Excellent work on the diet! PMSL about the pedometer clipped to your nipple. Can't really say that my sex-life at the moment would make much difference to my weight loss....
Glad to hear it's all sorted with your DS. He sounds like such a sweet lad. Hey, I've just realised i'm the only one on here with 2 girls - everyone else has got at least one boy.... I feel a bit left out now!

Fettle - that's a blow about your boss. Just when you had everything sorted as well.

Chooster - hope your boss is agreeable about your plans to return to work. June sounds much better than April!

Mrs - I am all confused now - I always just presumed your name was McJunior! But now I have written that down it doesn't look like a real name at all! Hope things happen for you soon - your plan to avoid induction sounds very good.

Bodkin · 23/01/2008 21:33

Forgot to add a big at your story about using your breast pump Mrs! Where did the skin come from - nipple or boob? That must be agony, you poor thing. Have you got any Kamillosan or Lansinoh you can put on it?

MrsMcJnr · 24/01/2008 03:45

Well, it?s 3.30am and I am probably committing a terrible first time mum sin by being up and about instead of trying to rest but I can?t sleep, since 9pm the period type cramps have turned into contractions of varying lengths ? which is just as well as I was reading the AIMS pamphlet on induction when they started and was getting quite upset at the prospect. Went to bed at 11 and managed to sleep until 1 and then on and off until now but it was hard to keep still and not wake DH and to assess how frequent they were so here I am, bouncing on my ball quiet as a mouse. It?s a shame my pussy cats have other ideas and are tearing up and down the stairs like a herd of elephants! Anyway, as luck would have it, DH is working from home today because we have the consultant at 11.50 ? that creates its own dilemma though ? do I go? My thinking is probably yes, let her check me out see what progress if any is being made and then I can come home. Mind you, any induction chat will send my adrenaline up and push my oxytocin down so I?ll have to ask her to shelve that chat for now! I also have my injection dilemma, do I or don?t I? Think I?ll do it at 4am ? then I should have plenty of time to be safe. Anyway let?s see what you all have to say?

MrsMcJnr · 24/01/2008 04:04

LOL Fettle ? I think I am too organized, I was just thinking last night that if this baby didn?t arrive soon we?d have to start eating the food I cooked and froze at the end of October due to its shelf life in the freezer! I?m much happier now I think things are starting, I really was low last night and almost in tears reading about induction and in particular what that could lead to intervention wise and the effect that could have on me with the condition I have. I know both yours were induced but I am so terrified of epidurals and my risks. I know birth plans are really just wishes if things are going that way but I am so hoping for a natural delivery. You are right about Iampg I think she?s lived before Thanks for the pushing tip, it?s so hard to imagine how to push really (without trying and risking a hernia!) sorry the weather is effecting you, I know what you mean, a bright, frosty, sunny day would make a big difference

Greedy thanks hon, I do remember how you were feeling ? I am 40+9 today but hey, it could still be tomorrow on the magic 10th day (and on Burns Night!) PMSL at you and the pedometer during sex, do you take many steps?!

Oohhh Minxi hello sending you lots of positive vibes

Bodkin those visualizations sound useful for the pushing part PMSL at the tea, comical moment. Sorry I confused you with my name. The skin came off the areola, the pump was off centre I?ve put Lansinoh it and it doesn?t hurt too much but it isn?t the best state to try BF in is it?

Damn it, getting very confused, if only some of you were awake and on here, how the hell do you time contractions???!! Also really hoping that I need a poo soon (sorry if TMI) we had home made Thai green curry last night and I?d rather it made an early appearance Right time for that jag?.!

MrsMcJnr · 24/01/2008 04:15

oh dear server is playing up (promise it's not just me!)

fettleandbabyfettle · 24/01/2008 08:13

Mrs - hope you are into regular contractions now. Prob bit late now, but I think you count them from start of one to start of next!

so excited for you - it's been a long while coming in many ways - feel like we've known each other ages and now your little baby is nearly here!!!

good luck and I'll be logging on lots to check if any news!

hello everyone else - sorry Bodkin that Isla is driving you to cup throwing - it's the weather! Toby was up 3 times last night - he desperately tried to suck his fingers to sleep but to no avail - he was so hungry I could hear his tummy rumbling! I will not give into weaning jusrt yet although everyone in real-life keeps telling me to as he is so big!

off for lunch today with friend who's baby due on 2nd feb - she's the one who had a very bad tear with her first and 2 blood transfusions - so doubt she's feeling very calm!

don't worry Mrs and Iampg - extremely and totally rare and unlikely to occur in your cases!

xxx

honeyapple · 24/01/2008 09:07

OOOHHHH Mrs! Sorry none of us were up in the middle of the night to help with contraction timing!! This sounds very much like my labour with Dex- started in the night- and I ended up wandering around- DP thought there was a burglar!!

Hope all is going/has gone well... so excited!!

xx

OP posts:
fettleandbabyfettle · 24/01/2008 10:26

just popping in for update again - my friend has cancelled on me as she is shattered - so suddenly at a loose end! Must get on with some paperwork and housework while Toby is asleep!

Can't wait to hear any further developments - hope everything is progressing Mrs!!

xxx

Bodkin · 24/01/2008 10:53

Ooooh Exciting developments Mrs! Hope those contractions are still happening and haven't trailed off for you. Must be hard worrying about possible scenarios with the birth due to your condition - really hope everything is straightforward for you.

Fettle - poor Toby and his rumbling tum! But you're right to delay weaning - milk is far more calorific than a few mouthfulls of carrot anyway

Gave Isla some baby Nurofen this morning in the hope it would help with her constant yelling at me! Seemed to calm her down a bit eventually, but it's still very traumatic trying to get it in her. Most went down her top, but I think about 1ml made it in there. Her bottom is like a baboons at the mo - soooooo sore poor little thing. Sleeping like a log at the mo though

rainbowdays · 24/01/2008 11:40

Mrs - sounds very promising, sorry we were not all up for timing with you. I remember with my first, as soon as I knew it was happening I got online and felt so good to know people were with me in spirit. So now you are either in labour or at the consultants, hope all gets going soon for you, burns night babe would be good. Thinking of you.

Bodkin, sorry to hear that poor Isla still has sorry bottom, not easy to deal with.

well I will be back later to check if we have more news.....

Chooster · 24/01/2008 13:59

Damn - I can't believe I missed Seaside's announcement. That will serve me right to take well over an hour to post a message . Well, a belated CONGRATULATIONS to Mr and Mrs Seaside and of course Dave. Really looking forward to all the details .

I heard from MrsMc a little while ago and she has had a show so it looks like some progress is being made, I'll let you know if I hear any more after her consultant appt... And yes your post reminded me of her skin / breast pump incidcent. Ouch!!!! . Not sure mine is that powerful.

Hope the waiting is going OK Iampg, and like the others ahve said you sounds very prepared and knowledgeable - I really admire that . Can't wait for more news from you. I reckon your birth plan sounds briliant . I have to confess that I never had one although I had done quite a bit of reading so I knew kind of what I wanted . It was all taken out of my hands both times anyway so hey-ho. Maybe next time.... (only joking )

Ohhh, Theo is waking...

Glad you amde up with DS Greedy, I hate fighting and shouting at DS. He's such a sweetheart but does know how to play up. Sometimes its so easy to just lose the plot a bit and end up yelling. at your weight loss!!!! Thats bloody amazing!! very impressed. I'm not losing anything according to my scales , but my trousers certianly feel better. Hopefully I'm toning up from all the walkin.

Mmm, silence again next door - has he gone back to sleep ??

Grrrr - bloody non-sleeping kids eh Bodders / Firsty!!! Of course I'm sorry to hear that your DC's are not playing the game either, but also feel less alone . I actually dont mind the getting up bit as I get to see DS2 and have a little cuddle and the house is nice and quiet etc... BUT I hate feeling so fecking tired all day!. Today he was awake at 5.15 and was quite the chirpy little fella, no signs of wanting to go back to sleep. When DS1 was up at 6.30 it felt mid-morning. By the way, in case you are wondering, 5.15 was not the first time he was awake. But, seriously I am sorry Bodkin that Isla is still being Grumpy espcially to prompt a cup throwing incident. it must really be wearing you down . I gave Theo a dummy for the first time in ages today for his nap time just to see what happened as he's never liked it before and he sucked on it really hard and went straight off to sleep. That will now be my weapon of choice tonight

Right, he really has woken now... Love you and leave you... back later. Quick about yor boss fettle - does that change your work thoughts at all???

x

rainbowdays · 24/01/2008 15:31

Oh goody goody, sounds like Mrs is really starting off well now. Hope those contractions keep going and get good and productive.

I am going home for the weekend tomorrow (So if you could give birth tonight that would be great Mrs, or I will have to wait ages to find out!). I am really looking forward to seeing dh, ds and dd. dh and ds have really been missing me, dd is happy whatever!!!!! I have my doc's letter ready incase I have to produce it at the airport, but I think that ryanair staff are highly unlikely to even think of questioning me!!!! Online checkin a bonus!

Will come back later to see if there is any mrs news!

iampgatlast · 24/01/2008 15:43

hello ladies

mrsmcjnr -sorry we were not here to help you with your contractions, probably too late now but i have read on mn that there is an online contraction timer website. i hope you managed to get a bit of rest in the end as ive just read you have had a show exciting stuff!! so minimcjnr could be here by tomorrow so so excited for you!!!!

thanks everyone for reading my birthplan and giving advice....although i have to confess all of my knowledge and wisdom has come from you guys i really feel that if i hadnt gone through ttc and my pregnancy with you lovely ladies i wouldnt have the hopes i have now for the birth of my baby boy you have opened my eyes up so much and what i have learnt has been invaluable so thankyou xxxx

honey and bodkin - thankyou for the pushing advice and the visualisation tips.

fettle - lol you are not pompus at all, i love hearing your advice - il be bearing that in mind "poo like ive never pooed before"

greedy - thats so funny trying to hook the pedometer onto you while you have sex!! out with sexy lingerie and in with the pedometers lol glad you made up with your ds.

bodkin - throwing the mug out of the window, sorry you are getting that stressed out. i hope islas sore bottom gets better soon.

chooster - im glad theo found comfort in his dummy and you have found a solution to get him off to sleep easily - wonder how long it lasts

its been another boring day today - been helping dp clean up the drive way as its covered in woodshavings, timber, mud etc etc...actually i say helped it was more a case of watching
my mum is coming down tomorrow so il get a day trip out going to pick her up from the station with my grandad - exciting stuff!!

i hope all went well with the c-section beansprout.

cant believe i am the last one to meet my baby very of you all but doubley excited for you all too that have met yours in the last couple of days!

i cant even sleep at night its ridiculous i just lay there eyes awake and think of what everythings going to be like when he is here - its just like when your little and father xmas is coming the next day you cant sleep for the excitement of it all. oh what am i like im just waffling now.....

be back later xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 24/01/2008 16:26

mrs - yes! i take loads of steps during sex............mainly in a benny hill style chase sequence around the garden!!! ooooo ooo ooo!!!! just read on and you are probably having/had your baby by now which is much more imprortant then me waffling about my sex life!!!!! i hope its all going well for you and i cant wait to hear!!!! so glad i havent missed an announcement by not coming on here all day!!!!

wonder how old seaside is doing with little dave......whats his real name i wonder?!!! and she MUST have boobs now, even if they are only short lived!!!

iampg - my only advice with the pushing is to think of each contraction as one step closer to meeting oscar. i just kept thinking "it CAN'T last forever and each contraction is one step closer!" and even though its really hard to think rationally when in labour......if you can it really helps. i told dh to keep reminding me that i was nearly there and i would soon get to meet the baby. i know that sounds like the most annoying thing anyone could ever say...but it really kept me going!!
