Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

WELL!!!!!....................my little star sleeper woke up last night at 2am!!! how DARE she!!??? wasnt really sure what to do, so got dh to give her some water ( hee hee! he was too tired to argue!!!) but that didnt work so in the end i went and sat on her floor and said "SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH" everytime she started to cry! it was really strange cos as soon as i said it she stopped. i was doing it quite loudly and i think she was probably a bit startled, but as soon as she started to cry again i said "SSSHHHHHH" and after about 3 mins she was asleep!!! it was all a bit odd and i wasnt sure if it had been a dream or not this morning.....................anyone else ever used this method to get babies back to sleep!!!

she has actually been driving me mad today......both my girls have!!! kiki has been a stroppy teenager all morning and marcy has been crying quite a bit and i dont know why (which i hate!)..............must be her teeth hey?!!! she has even been unhappy when i am feeding her............she was crying inbetween every mouthful and i couldnt figure out if she was ravenously hungry and i wasnt giving it to her quick enough or if she didnt really want it........................BABIES HEY!!!!! i wish she could talk sometimes and let me know whats going on! i had a definate "NO MORE KIDS EVER" moment earlier when she was screaming at me! i only hope the childminder had better luck with her this afternoon.

anyway! sorry cos that was really me me me!

choosteer - mrs is NEVER coming back is she? how is she by the way? did you ever meet that other MNer?

bugger.........next patient is early........better go!

Chooster · 10/04/2008 19:41

Funny you should say that Greedy as I met the other MN-er today! She contacted me through the local Edinburgh MN site as she'd just moved up from cambridge and we have boys the same age. She was really lovely so it was good fun... Felt a bit wierd though meeting someone you dont know for a chat - kind of like a odd blind date . And yes I have seen Mrs - on Tuesday. I just ran out of time to tell you guys when I was last on. They are doing really well and Xavier is very cute. I'm not sure if she'll come back on as they are off on holiday and then move to Spain at the end of May, but hopefully she'll pop back on for a last catch up . I keep her up to date with all the littlies developments though .

Well done on the weight loss as well Greedy, I've lost 8lbs on my Atkins diet but am getting bored of bacon and eggs for brekkie so I may switch to just trying to eat healthily, but am happy with my loss so far. If I could just shift another stone I'm be ecstatic!!!! .

Well done Dex with the sitting!!!! And Isla with her cruising . They are all growing up so fast

Good luck with the continuing baby chats Firsty, hopefully he'll start to give in soon .

Aaaargh, am out of time again as I'm off for a walk in prep for this moonwalk I'm doing. Not had dinner yet and am STARVING!!!! And tired - Theo was up from 1.30am to 4am this morning . Whats that about??? Sore teeth I think .

Fingers crossed for good nights for us all tonight .

I scanned your thread too Bodders - Sorry we'd missed that Isla had taken a few steps backwards, although it seems like she's been getting better again ??? If she is developing like Nelly, then at least you'll know she'll turn into your loveable DD1 very soon . I can only imagine how hard it must have been though these last few months - are you pretty sure about not having any more?

Oopps, am going to be late - See ya!!! x

honeyapple · 11/04/2008 09:55

morning

got a really shitty cold- so has Dex and he has been SO bad at sleeping the last few nights- so I generally feel like a piece of poo.

Anyway- Greedy- still free for that meet up??
Agree about Mrs- I think she has permanently flown the MN nest ... hope life in Spain treats them all well.
Do you think Marcy is teething then?

rainbow- are you out there??

Feeling too pooey to post anymore...

Bodkin · 11/04/2008 11:20

Hi no time to catch up on the last few posts...just to say that thankfully Isla is still improving and that hopefully we are comign well and truly out of the woods.... just got to sort her sleeping out now (Fettle, I feel your pain!)

Sorry I've not shared it with you, but I just didn't want to keep moaning! I know all babies are hard work!

She;s actually in nursery this morning (last week was a disaster!), so I'd better go and check that she is ok - I hover outside the building to see if I can hear her screaming!

Back later xxx

Bodkin · 11/04/2008 12:40

Honey - sorry you're feeling rotten - but I do love your usage of the word "poo" in your last post. Now Dex, you let your mummy have some kip so she can recover!

Greedy - well, you have my sympathy re screamy marcy! It's awful not knowing what the problem is... hope she's back to her usual chilled self soon Like your back to sleep method... might give that a try meself. But I think only BOOB will do the trick for my little monster.

Chooster - that's great that things are going smoothly for Mrs and they're off to Spain soon. She must be very excited... perhaps she'll start posting again when they have settled in Spain - I'm sure she must be missing all of our drivel banter!

Firsty - you sound on good form and as for your little chap, he sounds adorable! I'm sorry, but you ARE going to have to put a picture up of him soon - we need to see his cheeky little face Shame he's taken to early waking though, that's a killer if you've got to go to work and no chance of crawling back to bed for a kip when he has a nap.

Fettle - somebody else (work related) just phoned me to tell me they didn't get my e-mail! What's going on iwth my pooter eh? Gremlins I think...

Nursery went OKish I think.. apparently she cried as soon as she realised I had left (fair enough really) but did cheer up for a while and watched a bit of nursery rhymes on the telly with the older kids and then ate her snacks. But by the time I came to pick her up after 30 mins she looked pretty tearful and red-faced... oh well, will try again next week. They are very sweet at the nursery, so I'm sure she'll get in to it eventually.

greedygreedyguzzler · 12/04/2008 09:56

hello all! bit pissed off here cos i have rushed round to work leaving everyone at home snuggled up in bed watching TV and my first bloody patient was a no show so i could have stayed in bed for longer...............some people are SO inconsiderate!

anyway, hope everyone is ok!

chooster - i know what you mean about meeting other MNers. i am supposed to be meeting this really strange sounding MNer in a few weeks. she is called honeyapple and seems a bit odd from her posts so i am really nervous about meeting her! (yes i can still make that date honey!)

bodders - glad old isla is coming on well. is she going to nursery so you can do more stained glass stuff? did you ever do you 10 keeping in touch days with your MA?

shame mrs wont be coming back. has she said you can go and visit her in spain chooster?

hope dexy gets better soon honey.

marcy was still grumpy yesterday and so was kiki! GREAT! marcys sleep was back to normal last night though so that was one good thing. im premenstrual at the moment and im really not very good at dealing with kikis strops when i am hormonal. i think we are probably a bit too alike which is scary!

anyway better go, cos this has taken me so long to type that my next patient is here!

firsty - i second bodders......we NEED to see a pic!

rainbowdays - hope little jac is doing well, please come on soon and give us all your news! dont do a mrs on us!

rainbowdays · 12/04/2008 17:13

hi all
soorry not able to read posts yet but wanted to letyou know i havent forgotten you all. Jak is doing ok, quiet jaundiced still, but a cutie with the tanned look!

I have had mastitis and still trying to establish breastfeeding. my dd was such a pro feeder, I had forgotten how bad it could be, my boys both hard work to feed to start, but hoping things improve soon with jak.

sorry if there are spelling mistakes here etc, i am onto one handed typing!

will try to read posts now and upload photo if I get a chance too.

Bodkin · 12/04/2008 21:23

Greedy - yes the idea is to have a bit more time to do work (trying to squeeze it in to the evening is exhausting!) and also DP is now VAT reg so need to do his books every 3 months instead of leaving it all til the end of the year. She'll only do Friday mornings to start - more if I get more work on. I have done a bit of work while on mat leave - not 10 days though I don' t think, more like about 5. Am i supposed to tell someone about it or do i just leave it as it is?

Nursery went OKish - she was pretty red faced and tear stained when I got there, but they said she hadn't been too bad. Will try an hour next week and then after that hopefully go for the full session... eek! Has anyone else had problems with clingy babies starting nursery? What did you do?

Hi Rainbow - glad to hear all is well... hope Jak gets the hang of the feeding soon. Poor you with the mastitis.

Chooster · 13/04/2008 19:17

Oh, be careful Greedy - I've heard funny things about that Honeyapple . Hope you guys do meet up soon, and you Fettle and Bodders. Mrs may well come back on Greedy, I just doubted she would before hols and then move but you never know...

Max was also quite clingy Bodkin and would cry when left every day at the start. They did used to have to pull him off me which was upsetting but had to be done otherwise I would never have left him. They always said he was fine about 5 mins after I'd gone. If you can it may be a good idea to observe un-noticed for a while after she thinks you've gone to put your mind at ease??? The nursery we use has glass doors and if I was a bit clever, I could watch for a wee while, or I'd watch for a bit before going in in the evening. They were right, he was just fine . I do have some underlying guilt feelings about putting DS1 in nursery and am sure I'll feel the same with DS2. I really can't decide if its helped DS1 become more confident or less confident. I think generally its helped him but I guess I'll never know .

Well, Theo's sleep has gone totally to pot!!!! . The other night I went out for a walk in prep for the moonwalk (have I told you this??? Apologies if I have!!!) Anyway, he was up all the time I was out (from 7.30pm to 9.45pm) and was really upset. DH was walking him around outside when I came home.... The the last couple of nights he's woken and just wont go back to sleep, he fidgeting and wriggling around and just wont settle, not even after milk . So tonight I'm going to have to be a bit harder as I dont want this going on when we are at Centrparcs the week after next. ALthough a lot can happen in a week can't it!!! .

Good to hear from you Rainbow - really look forward to seeing a pic of Jak! . How is it having 3?

How is Dex now Honey and has your cold cleared too????

Bloody patients eh Greedy!!! That must have been so hard getting out of bed with everyone still there. I always like the idea of us all watching telly in bed but DS2 gets too wriggly and Max starts squirming too and its just not worth the bother .

Right, gotta go and find a dress to wear for tomorrow . DH has a graduation evening for a paralegal qual he did. We leave for Glasgow at about 3pm tomorrow so grandparents are looking after the boys and putting them to bed . I know it will be fine but am a bit anxious about leaving them, well DS2 really. Although it will be nice to be an adult out and about at tea / bath / bed time .

fettleandbabyfettle · 13/04/2008 19:44

Hi all

Survived DD's party - cake was a complete and utter disaster and nearly set house on fire leaving oven gloves on a lit hob (DH hadn't turned it off after cooking boiled eggs for breakfast earlier!) - Thank goodness for smoke alarms is all I say!!!!. Anyway, Waitrose came admirably to the rescue and DD had a great afternoon - sitting room is awash with wrapping paper - she was so spoilt by her friends.

Toby as ever was wonderfully behaved - slept peacefully and then was passed between mothers (they all love him and I never hold him when with my mum friends - think they are all hankering for a new baby themselves!). It is good for him though as he is starting to show a bit of concern if I'm not holding him and I don't want that to get out of control, so the more other people hold him the better!

Chooster - keep meaning to say that I think Theo is teaching Toby some lessons. He started pulling back while feeding while we were away and there have been occasions when the pop is so loud when the nipple finally is released that I'm pretty convinced I'm going to look down and see my nipple in his mouth no longer attached to me!!!. He also won't lie still for a nappy change anymore. And well as for his sleep that's always been rubbish!!!. Hope you have a good graduation party - the boys will be fine I'm sure.

Bodders - good advice from Chooster re nursery. I'm sure she'll get used to it with time. Still not got your e-mail by the way

Greedy - hope the rest of your patients turned up. I love weekend mornings all in bed too!

Rainbowy - lovely to hear from you and that Jak is doing well.

Hope you're ok Seaside/iamamum as well - getting some sleep?

Scorpio - still no news?

Right - must go get some supper - big waves to those I've missed! take care all

i am still pg!! 40+2 today. Sweep on Wednesday...

fettleandbabyfettle · 13/04/2008 19:49

oooooh - exciting Scorpio!!!! good luck!!!
xxx

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 19:50

i have never ever been this pg before though...have only ever got to 39+4 before with ds1. Just trying to not think about it too much!

honeyapple · 13/04/2008 21:58

scorpio- good luck with the sweep- hope it gets things happening .

Greedy- you cheeky mare ... there is nothing odd about me at all, honest .

Fettle- glad to hear DD's party went well- shame about the cake disaster- what went wrong?

I am feeling a lot better thanks- even managed to go out to a friend's 40th bday party last night (after dousing myself in Lemsip). MIL babysat and all was fine (apparently). Dex still snotty so she gave him some Medised which did the job- however I had a bit of a job getting any as Boots have decided not to give it to you unless it is for a child over 2yrs... so I said it was for my older kids... anyway, on the packet it says from 3mths... MIL was therefore paranoid Dex was going to have some reaction or other and had to keep checking on him. Anyone hear anything about this medised thing?
I've recently joined facebook and have enjoyed getting in touch with old school friends/ work colleagues etc... until I just got a message from some women and I have NO idea who she is... she claims we new each other as teenagers... and she knew my old surname... BUT I dont even recognise her in her photos. I think she is a fraud... so have sent a message to say I have no idea who she is and will now ignore her friend request... anyway very weird.

Bodders- re nursery- agree with all the other wise ladies on here... although have to say in hindsight I wish I hadnt had to send my DS1 to nursery cos he really was miserable and I think it may have affected his self confidence and sociability... sorry- dont want to make you feel shit! Whoops...It sucks doesnt it- I think mothers will always feel guilty. I guess if he hadnt have gone to nursery I wouldnt have had a job I enjoyed and ultimately I wouldnt have met my DP... and wouldnt have created DD and DS2!! So- it all happens for a reason... I hope!

night night

OP posts:
Bodkin · 14/04/2008 09:46

Thanks for the advice on nursery guys... I hope it won't knock her confidence too much, cos she is now quite smiley and outgoing towarsd other people (so long as I'm the one doing the holding!) DD1 started at about 18 months, which I guess is a better age and was very happy from the word go, no probs at all... but I really could do with the morning off to get stuff done... if things really don't work out though, I'll just have to postpone it until she's a bit older and call DP in to have her one morning a week (while I do his bloody accounts!)

Fettle -glad to hear DD had a good birthday.. will try and send another e-mail.. That is very odd... I might send some e-mails to myself from my hotmail account and see if they get through - I am still missing a couple of e-mails that I know for definite have been sent

Chooster - hope you had a good time at the "do" and the boys behaved themselves for their grandparents.... nice to have a bit of grown-up time in daylight hours!
Theo's sleep problems - could it be teeth?(I know, a hackneyed response, but still...)

Honey - oooh, scary stalker person! Now that is exactly why I'm not keen on this Facebook malarkey!

Sleep-wise, things are kind of ok at the moment, she seems to have decided she likes the 10.30pm feed that I was giving her in her sleep, so now she wakes for it (although it's more like 10pm when I hear her squawk) But then she is out for the count until 5ish, which means I am finally getting a half decent bit of kip! Although my evenings are now stuffed and I can't go too far from home so I can whizz back and feed her. Maybe the 10pm feed could be a bottle.... hmmmm...

Right, must get in the shower while Isla is napping.

greedygreedyguzzler · 14/04/2008 10:12

hello all!

hiya scorpio - still here then!!! nevermind, its GOT to happen soon!!!

rainbow - hiya! good luck with the feeding. you are obviously determined to perservere! lets see a pic then!!

my little marcy is back to her gorgeous self! well, she has been the past two days anyway. back on her food without crying between mouthfuls and generally a happy bunny. long may it last!!! im not very good at coping with grumpy marcy!!! got her weighed on fri and she now weighs a whopping 21lb 7oz! not sure how much longer i can squeeze her into her carseat, but her neck isnt strong enough for a forward facing one yet.

bodders - if you dont use all your keeping in touch days by the end of your mat leave, they will pay you for those days you havent used, so you would get an extra 5 days MA, if you have only used 5 days up. its really good and you dont lose any MA by doing the keeping in touch days.

chooster - which center parcs do you always go to? we are thinking of going to one of the ones in holland later in the year. they are much cheaper!

honey - i am getting nervous about meeting up!!!!! i wont back out though!!!! i am worried that we wont know what to talk about and that you will laugh at marcys crazy hair and that dd1 will be bored and play up!!! ok...... i'll stop worrying now!!!

anyway, better go and entertain my girls!!!

its my wedding anniversry today by the way!!! 7 yrs!!!! last year dh took me away for the weekend to see a show, and stay in a posh hotel!................this year he bought me a jumper from next!!!!! (its supposed to be wool for 7 yrs!).........................shouldn't complain though!!!! i didnt get him anything and had to quickly make him a card last night!!!!

t'ra!!!

Ready · 14/04/2008 11:39

Just popping in to say hello... I really miss you all, and hope to join you soooooooon. Off for some reflexology today

I am still waiting for the security clearance for my new job, so I am trying to make the most of the time off - but it is frustrating.

Oh, wanted to say Greedy and Honey, I met a MNer before Christmas, and we met up again last week - we had plenty to talk about, and neither of us had babies to distract us - so stop worrying, you will have plenty to natter about

Right... better dash... hope you are all well

honeyapple · 14/04/2008 14:09

hi

ready- lovely to 'see' you- i'm sure greedy and i will be fine . We can laugh at dex's hair too!

Have vaguely discovered who that bird on facebook was... I mean I now know who the 'mutual' friend was... but still cannot for the life of me remember her... I suppose it's nice to know I made an impact on her for her to remember me!! She looks a lot younger than me (or just hasnt got any kids)...

DS1 is in bed sick ... better go and check on him

Hello there Ready! Good to see you chum!

Phew, Honey... good to know she isn't a complete stranger to you then... but even so! I guess that's how Facebook works though - you go on to a friend's page - and see their friends...

Greedy - that's interesting about the KIT days - so I can claim some extra cash eh? sounds good. Glad Marcy is back to her cheerful self!
A wool jumper from Next is quite a thoughtful present really, but I guess he blew it by giving you such a fab anniversary last year - it would be quite hard to top that!

BTW, just wanted to share - Isla is crawling! And bloody fast too... she was literally hoovering up the smallest bits of Nelly's playmobil today, as fast as I moved them out of her way, she was on them again. In the end I admitted defeat and we decamped to the table. My days of loafing around on MN are over... I now have to be vigilant!

iamamummy · 15/04/2008 14:07

hi ladies

just dropping in to say i am still around and feeling miles better.
have been going out most days, keeping busy and had long chat with df and things seem to be miles better.

will catch up soon xx

fettleandbabyfettle · 15/04/2008 20:59

Evening all

How are we all?

Honey - glad you are feeling better and had a good night out. Cake itself was delicious (still is, still finishing it!), but I'm no good at this fancy icing malarky, so should have just stuck with normal icing and then some decorations - maybe next year....... How could anyone laugh a Dex's hair? - it's cute!!! I'm on facebook and I've had a couple of completely random people ask to be my friends which I've just ignored. I'm convinced I don't know them! I think they weren't even in this country! I obviously have a very common name and/or look familiar or perhaps my profile picture says "please be my friend, cos I'm lonely!"!!!

Bodders - glad we're hatching a meeting plan - let's hope this one sticks!! Good plan on the bottle front - Toby still won't take one, so I'm back to BF in the afternoons if I'm home or at least in comfort, as he wasn't taking any of the bottle offered to him and it wasn't making any difference to his night-waking having a bigger/fuller breasts to feed from at bed-time - still waking twice a night - once around 10-11pm and then 4-5am, so I suppose not too bad, but could be better!
He does seem to eat loads of solids though -he now has the same as DD for breakfast - 1 oatabix with a whole pot of fruit mixed though! - surprised his tummy doesn't explode! (but he does poo a lot!!).

Greedy - don't talk to me about KIT days - my boss is supposed to contact me to let me know about opportunities for KIT days and needless to say noone has - if they had maybe I wouldn't be feeling so far away from it all and really not wanting to go back! Glad that Marcy is back to her happy self - 21lbs!!!! That's huge (in an entirely good chubby baby type way!). Reminds me that someone told me of an 8 month old which was 30lbs! - that's only 8lbs lighter than DD is now at 4 years!!! Your weekend sounds great - I take it someone else looked after the kids?

Ready - great to see you here! Hope they hurry up and security-clear you! You're not some dodgy-type are you?!

Iamamummy - glad to hear you are feeling better - it will only continue to improve!

Seaside - how are you and Cassius getting on?

Chooster - keep meaning to say - good on you doing the Moon walk - my sister did the London one and said that it was the most awful thing she had ever done, but I think she's still pleased she did it! You sound as if you are training more consistently than she did though! Also remembered another thing you said Theo was doing that Toby is now doing - twisting sideways in his cot and lying side-ways or totally rammed up against the top of the cot. Did you get a cot bumper? Has it helped at all?

Right - best be off - got a romantic date in bed with DH and the 2nd part of Waking the Dead!!!

BTW - toby is also on the move! He can roll around the floor very effectively to where he wants and can commando creep forward very tiny, but perceptable amounts! Pretty scary how much he moves now - can't leave the room for long - caught him chewing the computer cable this morning! - only been gone 45 secs at most! This house is not baby-proofed at all yet!

xxx
[wmile]

Chooster · 15/04/2008 23:03

Hi, Just a quick one but yes the cot bumper has really helped Fettle. We got a really good long one from Ikea for about £6 which goes the whole way round the cot bed. Its also not too deep so it only comes about 3" above the mattress, if that makes sense. Anyway there have been no bumps since so I'd recommend it...

Will catch up tomorrow!
x

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/04/2008 13:28

just a quick one from me to say marcy IS NOT on the move and i dont think she ever will be! she is such a lazy lardarse!!!! cant think where she gets THAT from!!!?? anyway, she just lies flat on her back and smiles doesn't even attempt to move!!! and............thank god!!! is all can say..................i rem when kiki started crawling and ellis was just over 2 and it was SUCH hard work!!! i want to leave babyproofing the house for as long as possible and im not looking forward to moaning at the other two to keep all their small toys out of reach either.

fettle - my lovely weekend, was LAST year for my anniversry, not this year!! my mum has said that she doesnt want to look after all 3 of them overnight so i guess weekends away alone are a thig of the past! we are going out to dinner tonight though.....yippee!!!!!!!!!!!

better go cos kiki is at preschool till 2.30, ellis is at school till 3 and so its just me and the mooster till 3 and she is asleep!!!!! so holby city calls!!!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 16/04/2008 16:42

ooh - Greedy sorry about your weekend - wishful thinking on your behalf obviously!!!!

And I wish that Toby wasn't on the move!! he just won't be stilll!!! He sees something he wants and he is off - still can't sit up very well on his own yet, but more interested in moving, so I obviously have a high-wire child!!!!

Chooster · 17/04/2008 09:29

Hey all! How are you all today?

Glad things are improving Iam! You must pop back soon and let us know what you are up to

So Toby is a wriggler too eh!!! I think he and Theo are from the same mould . Theo is constantly moving these days and he can really go at a fair crawling speed now... Max crawls about on our landing upstairs and Theo chases him from room to room squealing - he loves it so much and its great fun to watch - we've got some good film of them. Actually I'll put some new photos on as well.

We are off to the Whinfell forest one Greedy. This will be our 3rd time there and we've had a great time. I'm really looking forward to it . Especially as I've now lost 9lbs - I feel a bit more confident in my swimming cosie . We had a look at the Siblu ones in France / Spain and they looked good - what are the ones on Holland called?

Yup I think it has been teeth Bodders! He was a star on Monday night when g'parents were in charge and he's been sleeping through til 6am or so the last couple of nights which is brilliant! . I feel so much better in the mornings and am getting so much more done - well more MN in the case of this morning . How is Isla doing? I think you were thinking of dropping a feed? How is her weight?

Well, I'd better get organised for this holiday and register etc... Have good a day everyone
