Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

Easter egg hunt was fun, but very cold!!!!

Honey - intriguing that you've got similar pre=period symptoms - wonder if it is common after pg?

Anyway, just put on a high-chair picture of Toby!

Right - must go get on with supper - having our roast lamb tonight - yummy yum!!!

Chooster · 22/03/2008 20:23

Gulp!!! Size 12!!!! bloody hell thats enormous . I saw that programme advertised but didn't se any of it. Hope you girls have fun on your meet up .

Thats so wierd you say that about thrush symptoms fettle as I thought I had thrush a few days ago and went to chemist to get the pessary and cream. Anyway poppd pessary in a couple of nights ago and AF arrived in the morning. So maybe its not thrush after all . Mine is also VERY heave - much heavier than I've ever had it before... whats going on [hhm].

Enjoy Reading Greedy!!! Whats there for you guys this weekend? So what do you reckon about Tanya burying Max alive in 'enders... She's gone loon!!! Sean is looking very brooding and sexy though eh?

Yeeaaahhh, well done Isla!!! Good girl for getting some good sleep in - shame about DH and DD1 though Bodders...

All is good here - we were all packed up and ready for a trip to the zoo when Dh got a call from a mate who had a spare hospitality ticket to a footie match for this afternoon. So muggins here then traipsed off to the zoo with both kids in tow while DH is quaffing free beer . In fact he's still there the jammy bugger . Anyway my bath is ready so bye all.... Hope we all get good nights sleeps - especially you rainbow as I remember how uncomfy it can be at your stage.

Chooster · 22/03/2008 20:26

Crossed with you fettle (I started posting ages ago!) Yummmmy - roast lamb, sounds fab . Cute new pic!!! Thats a smart looking highchair you have there.

fettleandbabyfettle · 22/03/2008 21:46

ooh Chooster - lucky you going to the zoo, but it must have been freezing! I would have been furious if DH had abandoned us at the last minute though - hope he is home now? hope you had a good bath.

Interesting this AF stuff & thrush - but I was a cheap-skate though making an appointment to see the Dr to get a prescription so I wouldn't have to pay for the medication! Never actually had a prescription while I've had my free card - only got 6 months left of it now!!!

Size 12!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the same size as DH - poor poor girl! I've got size 8 which is the limit of most normal shoe shops - really hope DD doesn't have bigger feet. I hated it when I was younger though, as you couldn't get flat comfortable early teen shoes - you could only get really high heels, which I didn't really want when I was 11-12 (I did all my growing very young!).

~Yeah - what you doing in Reading Greeds - that is so close to me you know?! Shame I have my in-laws or we could have met up!

Right - going to finish my coffee and go to bed - roast lamb was delicious, but I've eaten too much!

Really hoping for a good night's sleep for us all!

Hi everyone - Happy Easter

Sorry I am being a useless first timer and not posting much - I dont know how you mums of more than one do it - I seem to be constantly doing at least 2 things at once - I cant believe how much time I used to have to just sit down before!!
Having said that I would not change anything - Cassius is brill - really chilled out and his smiles are the best - he is now sort of giggling and laughing too. He was great on our trip to London and slept nearly the whole journey in his new carseat (a Jane one that lies flat along the back seat) He can sleep for 6 hours in a stretch now - it is just getting him to the same 6 hours that I want to sleep!! Poor lad was dragged from pillar to post for 4 days al over south west London and Surrey but he was a star and just rolled with it.

Apart from Cassius we have had a busy time finishing the cottages we are renovating but they are finally on the market - phew (if anyone wants a nosey they are here )

Also our poorly doggie is on deaths door and I am not sure he wil make it through the weekend He was our first furry child and has been with DH and I for 10 years - since the summer we officially moved in together

Cassius has his jabs the week after next ( he will be nearly 10 weeks but with Easter they could only fit us in then) Has everyone on here gone with the jabs or has anyone opted out?? Just wondered as I am thinking of refusing the boosters or at least the third lot?? Any views anyone?

Sorry for the me me me post - I have caught up slowly over the whole day today bit now my brain is too mushy to remember what everyone said.

All this talk of AF - I keep thinking mine is going to start but it hasn't ? After the time it took us TTC and my low Ovarian reserve test I am paranoid that menopause will be upon me soon Interesting what everyone was saying re Iammummy talking of having another - I always thought a 4 year gap would be ideal but now know I will not have that luxury of time so nice to hear that 2 close together is good - like the idea of being able to stay home all day!! I have no idea how anyone gets out of the house before 9am with a newborn, My record is 9.30 so far!!

Hope everyones babies are sleeping and everyne's DH's/DP's?DF's are behaving themselves!!

Right off to bed I think.

PS Also hope your sister is doing OK greedy

Bodkin · 23/03/2008 21:58

Hi all

Seaside - I did try to have a nosey but the link just took me to the home page and as I didn't know what to type in I am none the wiser - but would love to have a gawp. Sounds like you are thriving on motherhood and that Cassius is being a star... just lovely to hear that it is all going so well for you... and don't worry about how often you post and not being able to keep up, it is great to hear from you whenever you can

Thanks for the reassurance on Isla's weight - I've been pretty blase about it as well, it was only the fact she'd lost weight that worried me... she's not been a big fan of solids, and I've not exactly been persisting too hard, thinking she'll take to them when she's ready, so there was a bit of guilt there that maybe I could have been trying a bit harder, but reading that back, what am I thinking - i can't exactly force the grub into her!

Dreamfeed still working fairly well, alhtough she only made it to 3am last night, before she woke. Luckily it was my turn for a lie-in this morning, so after I'd done the morning feed at 6.30, DP disappeared with both kids and I slept until 9am... blissful

Greedy - can't believe you turned down a shag for 'enders!!! I thought you were always ready for action

Chooster - hope the zoo wasn't too hectic with both boys in tow.

Had a lovely afternoon at my sister's... did easter egg hunt in her garden for all the kids and they all had a great time and got on well (there were 6 kids altogether, inc. Isla and an 18 month old) Isla was absolutely fantastic - sat on my lap most of the time watching everything going on, and then just as it was time to go she got a fit of the giggles and it was just soooo cute, everything anyone did made her giggle more and more... have never seen her laugh so much before, brought a tear to my eye

fettleandbabyfettle · 23/03/2008 22:27

Happy Easter all!!

Don't have long, Toby is awake and DH is trying (and failing to settle him!!!).

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter and tell you not to miss me over the next 10 days! Although I'll try and log on and check up on Scorpio and Rainbowy and their bumps!

Bodders - you're day sounds lovely and Isla sounds adorable. Hardly recognisable from your little Isla the Grizzler!

Seaside - good to hear you sounding so relaxed. I too am incredibly nosey, but didn't know where to look for your cottages! Also, I've given both my DC all the immunisations as the complications from the diseases they protect against are far worse than any possible complications from the actual vaccines. Any worry about anything from the MMR vaccine and that scare a few years ago has been totally disproven now. However, you have to do whatever you feel happiest with - but I would advise before you make any decision that you talk it through with either your HV or GP and make sure you're making an informed decision.

Right - better go rescue DH. Toby did actually sleep through last night (well til 5.45am!, but I can't expect any better than that after the last few weeks!). But tonight he went to bed with a temperature and very rosy cheeks and is already up, so I think it will be a bad night!

Take care all

Don't miss me too much (but do miss me!!!)

big hugs
xxxxx

seaside72 · 24/03/2008 14:54

Hi all

sad day for us - vet came to put our doggie down earlier - he was so weak and could not even go to the loo without falling over - he had gone from weighing a petite 6kgs to a skeletal 2 and a bit kg so we knew it was time as he was so despondent and we had tried every medication under the sun

Poor Cassius has been totally neglected today bless him - and just sat watching it all going on gurgling in his bouncy chair. Hopefully we will take him out for a walk now with our other doggie who is a bit confused.

Sorry about the houses link - doh!

Will try again

First cottage
Second cottage

Hope everyone else is having a better day!

Have a fab holiday fettle.

Bodders - glad the easter egg hunt was fun - Isla sounds brill and I am sure her weight will even up - they all go through spurts and esp after her bug I am sure it is totally normal.

I took Cassius to church yesterday morning on my own and he was so good - slept through the fist bit and then woke up during prayers but I gave him his dummy and he happily sucked away mesmerised by the beams and windows! He farted all the way trough the sermon but luckily none were too audible! Then after communion he sat on my lap and giggled and smiled for the rest of the service - (about 15 mins) everyone around us was laughing watching him! very cute! I was also super proud Bodders

love to all xxx

scorpio1 · 24/03/2008 14:57

Seaside, those houses are lovely I live in Penzance.....so not far at all!!

Sorr yabout your dog My Nan died on Saturday, we only knew she was poorly 2 weeks ago. its terrible, hope you are ok.

Bodkin · 24/03/2008 20:35

Aww, Seaside - that's sad about your poor doggie... it's hard saying goodbye isn't it.
Cottages look lovely! Looks like there's been a lot of hard work there, well done for getting it all done while being pregnant and having a newborn!
at Cassius's trumping in church... It's lovely when they're all smiles!

Scorpio - sorry to hear about your nan
I didn't know you were another West Country-er (I am in West Dorset)! We are starting to take over the thread!

Farewell Fettle - have a great time
Typical that Toby starts sleeping well again just in time for you to go on holiday and mess it all up again

greedygreedyguzzler · 25/03/2008 12:31

honey - you are going to be so disappointed when you see kiki now! she is tall fro a 3 year old , but not a 5 yr old!!! she is about 110cm now so wont seem tall compared to your dd!

fettle and chooster - arent you nosey!!! we have freinds in Reading and some other firneds from america were coming over too. so our friends were hosting 10 adults and 6 kids during the day and then we stayed over and got a bit too drunk in the evening! only got about 4 hours sleep so felt really rough the next day. hangovers and kids dont mix do they? no time to dwell on how crap you feel though, so if i do get a hangover now i seem to recover much quicker than i used to! how close are you to reading then fettle cos we are over that way at least once a month!

my feet were a size 8 too fettle......................but bizarrely they seem to be shrinking!!! my last pair of shoes were a size 6!!!! normally i am a 7 now though.

meant to ask all of you ages ago..............................i very rarely read a book cos i dont seem to get the time and when i am realxing i would rather watch crap on the tv,BUT my dh bought me a book the other day. Its called SLUMMY MUMMY!!! do you think i should be offended?

seaside - hello! why do you want to opt out of the jabs? i have always just had them done cos i was told to but what is the reason for not having them done? off to google that carseat....never heard of it and it sounds great! cant get out of the house till 9.30am????? what do you do? pedicure? manicure? hair straightening? long soak in the bath? wait till you have no. 2!!! thanks for thinking of my sis, she seems to be doing amazingly well. not sure how much of it is a front at the moment, but she seems fine. just read on and sorry about your doggie seaside.

OH MY GOD bodders!!!! you are starting to sound broody again!!! its little moments like that when i think "yep! i want more!!!" APPARENTLY when i was pissed on sat night i told everyone how much i wanted another one and dh agreed!!!!!

byeeeee fettle - have fun!

still here then scorpio? no millie yet? sorry to hear about your nan.

greedygreedyguzzler · 25/03/2008 12:35

i am NOT dyslexic. my posts always seem like i am cos i try (and fail) to type quickly and my letters get all mixed up and i never check them before i press post. just wanted to let you know why they are always so bad! thats why i never do smileys either, cos they take too much time!

fettleandbabyfettle · 25/03/2008 14:28

Just checking on baby bumps and just had to say to Seaside - so sorry to hear about your poor doggie - so horrible seeing them suffer though isn't it.

Cassius sounds adorable - both mine behaved themselves in Church when babies - when DD was going through her mammoth 10 weeks of screaming phase, that 90 mins on a Sunday morning was the only time of peace we got - bliss! Toby too is also so calm and contented in Church (but then he is most of the time anyway!). at the trumping! Is he like Toby who laughs when he does a really good burp or fart?! Such a man!!!

Greedy - how can your feet be shrinking?! Never heard of that before! We're about an hour from Reading, maybe slightly more depending on the traffic.

Loads of snow here, but unfortunately Toby was very unsettled last night - was very violently sick and then screamed every time he woke up (which was every 40 mins for about 4 hours til midnight). Then he finally settled for 2 hours, when he finally fed again and then he woke every hour wanting food! I'm shattered, but luckily my mum looked after him this morning while I went back to bed and DH and DD went skiing.

Right - mum hasn't managed to walk Toby is sleep so I'm going to have to try feeding him again.

Take care all
xxx

honeyapple · 25/03/2008 19:06

evening

fettle- sorry to hear you had a bad night with Toby- hope he does a bit better tonight.

Seaside- so sorry to hear about your dog - how is your other one adjusting to being on it's own? Cassius sounds great- can't believe all these babies are getting so old!

Greedy- do you think it was just the booze talking about number 4? I'm still undecided- but figure best to say "who knows!"- can't quite bring myself to say absolutely NO more-especially when Dex is such a cutie . BTW slummy mummy describes me perfectly!

Scorpio- sorry to hear about your nan . Any feelings about when Millie will arrive?

Rainbow- still with bump? Or has Jak made an appearance?

Bodders- what time are you putting Isla to bed? I reckon Dex is getting worse at sleeping cos I have started putting him to bed earlier (still only about 9pm though)... when you do the 'dreamfeed'- so you just get her out of bed asleep and stick her on-?? She doesnt wake up?

Chooster- bet the zoo was freezing- any animals out? Any luck with Mrsmcj??

Took Dex to be weighed today- he is now 14lb 9- so has put on 1.5 lbs in a month- so I am very pleased- his weight has creeped up to above the 9th centile. Must be all the eating he is doing- he is a completely food crazy- I could never have left him to 6mth- he would have gone mad- and it would have been completely cruel. We went out for lunch to a Mexican restaurant on Easter monday and he just cried looking at us all eating- he ended up having a couple of chips , guacomole and some of DS1's icecream! Lumps do not seem to bother him- he's just been eating chopped up mango as I couldnt be arsed to puree it. A friend of mine has a baby the same age and he isnt interested in food in the slightest- just goes to show you have to follow your baby's lead...

DD had her first school trip today to a farm . On a coach and everything! I think she has fallen asleep on the sofa... better go and attempt to lump her into bed.

Hi

I'm still pregnant, Millie has returned to 'free' , she was 3/5ths. Whats going on?? I want to have Millie a week Saturday please.

Chooster · 26/03/2008 13:59

Hi everyone... Hope you are all well after easter break (loving that picture you describe of Isla Bodkin!!! she sounds on great form at the moment)... We had a great time in the end. The zoo was good in the end (and yes Fettle I was fairly peeved that DH abandoned us for the footie) but it was a successful trip out and not too cold - it was really sunny in edinburgh most of the weekend... The only slghtly difficult part was when we stopped for lunch and Max was sat at the table and I was in the queue with Theo getting some food. All was fine until 2 dwarfs came and sat at the next table to Max which freaked him out a bit and his chin started to wobble and he kept calling at the top of voice for me to come back to the table and when I did he said really loudly "Mummmy, look at the small man". Not as bad as it could have been and I explained what it all meant but sometimes you just wish they had a volume button dont you .

It was my birthday yesterday too and I got spoilt rotten . Loads of fab pressies and a Thai meal out last night .

Sorry to hear about your Nan Scorpio - hope you are all doing OK? And what is Millie up to eh??? Fingers crossed you get you saturday wish . How are you feeling now?

And sorry about your doggie Seaside - its rotten when they go isn't it, but watching them in pain and losing control is too hard. At least Cassius sounds like he is being his usual angelic self . He sounds just scrummy , and you sound so happy too. Lovely cottages too!!!! I showed DH and said to him, "I wonder if they are near each other" and he looked at me like I was a moron... It was only when he pointed out that they were clearly next door to each other that I realised how stupid I was . can I still blame sleep depravation for my lack of observation skills . About the jabs, I've just gone for them all as I think that at the end of the day I dont know enough to contradict what I'm being advised by the doctors / HV's. I know people do a whole heap of research themselves and opt out but thats just not for me as I'd be so worried that I was putting my baby at risk. However a friend of mine is a practising homeopath and she has refused all jabs for her DD who is now coming up to 3. She has strong views on it and firmly believes she is doing the right thing so I think at the end of the day its something that has to be a personal choice and one you feel happy with. Good luck!!!

I hope Toby has perked up for fettle, no fun goig away with a poorly baby??? How is Dex sleeping Honey? You say he's more unsettled??

Hope the weekend was fun Greedy? I know what you mean about hangovers, when you can't wallow in it its amazing how much better you can feel - mind you I've not been properly pissed for a LONG time!!!!

How's things rainbow??? Hope you enjoy having your mum there, that will take some pressure off wont it???

I saw MrsMc this morning and she says to say hello to everyone!! She's doing well and Xaview is incredibly cute . She's just been so busy as they have finally sold the house and are getting geared up for a move in the next couple of months, so she's organising a lot at the moment. I passed on 'hello's' from our thread .

Right, Theo has woken, better get back on with it...

By the way has anyone any experience of the Atkins diet?? I started it today in the hope of shifting some baby weight before my holiday at the end of April.

fettleandbabyfettle · 26/03/2008 19:21

Hello - me again - just can't keep away!!!

Only got a sec as me and DH are going out to dinner - on our own!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say to Bodkin (I think) or whoever asked about Venture, that we had some done when DD was about 5 months old. We got a £20 sitting voucher that included a small print. Yes we ended up getting two larger prints, but they took the cost of the smaller print off them and I don't regret it in the slightist - they are absolutely gorgeous photos! We must get around to booking a session with Toby before he gets too old! Have to try and find the same deal though as it is pricey to pay for the sitting otherwise. I would say go for it, but when you go for the viewing keep your head about you and admire the photos, but keep sensible! We managed!! (but they were gorgeous photos!!).

Also wanted to say to Greedy that DH has just bought be that book!!! What are our DH's saying about us?¬!! Looks amusing though and he did say that I wasn't to take it personally, he just thought it looked funny!

Really sorry to hear about your Nan, Scorpio - hope Millie comes when you want her!

RAinbowy - hope drive was ok and Jak stays put for another day or so!!

So pleased that MrsMc has finally sold her house - send her our love Chooster!

Right really must go - big hugs to you all, sorry for not posting properly! Looking forward to my yummy very un-atkins fondue and chips!!!! (have tried Atkins, found it a bit unhealthily high in fat for me, but I did lose weight! Low GI is probably a better bet and easier to maintain!

Dh is sighing!!

Bodkin · 26/03/2008 20:43

Hi all.. v. quickie while DP is in the bath...

Hi Fettle - you'd never know you were even on holiday Sorry to hear Toby was so poorly - hope you get a better night tonight. That's nice to hear a positive story about Venture - there are so many threads on here slagging them off! Still undecided what to do - we will have to go back after the shoot for the viewing, so htat will make it 2 x 60 mile round trips... quite an effort if we only want the freebie 7 x 5 print!

Honey - Isla goes to bed at 7pm, I go up at about 10.30 and pick her up out of the cot (all warm and sleepy and lovely!) and just plonk her on my boob and she just starts feeding, half asleep, then chuck her back in the cot and so far she has gone straight back to sleep

Bodkin · 27/03/2008 10:20

Ahem, sorry about that, DP out of the bath sooner than expected!

So as I was saying - I don't exactly "chuck" her back in the cot , more like gently place her in and rub her back and she goes (usually) straight back to sleep It didn't work last night actually - she woke at 2am... but I think that was cos she had a bit of a temperature so I fed and Mediseded and she was out for the count til the morning, so not too bad in the end.

Chooster, sorry, but pmsl at your story of the dwarves...kids come out with some classics don't they!
A belated Happy Birthday to you...mmmmm, Thai food, my fave
That's great that Mrs has finally sold the house - no wonder she's not on here atm, she must be sooooo busy! Nothing like having really stressful things all happening together... having a baby, selling a house and relocating....making me feel quite exhausted just thinking about it!

Rainbow - hope things are happening today for you, as requested!

Scorpio - these pesky babies eh? They never do what they're supposed to

Fettle - have just rearranged the venture thing so we can do the viewing and shoot on the same day, which makes it a bit more feasible.... as far as the pictures go, it depends on how great they are I suppose... if they don't do the kids justice then I shall walk away with my freebie! But if they are really fab, then i might have to persuade DP to put his hand in his pocket... it's something we'll never get round to doing otherwise IYKWIM

Ready · 27/03/2008 10:56

Sorry to barge in, uninvited ...just wanted to tell Bodkin a friend of mine did Venture with her first born... loved it, she chose 2 pics, and spent a fair bit on them... a few hundred I think, as she wanted big ones. She introduced a friend... who recently went with her first born and spent £2,000! Be prepared to adore the photos and have to keep yourself in check. As an outsider looking in, the pictures are soooo funky and like nothing else you will get - so worth spending a bit - but it is possible to bankrupt yourself

firststar · 27/03/2008 13:07

Message withdrawn

Bodkin · 27/03/2008 14:35

Ready! Soooo lovely to see you! And thanks for your advice too... yes the general consensus is that the pics are mahoosively expensive and that a local photographer could do just a good as job for a fraction of the price... but I can't see i'll get round to organising it, and as I already have the voucher..... Think we'd better set a price limit though... I don't think we want to spend £2,000

Firsty - great to see you too! Sounds like you're having a nice day with your little chap, good to hear his sleeping is all sorted.

rainbowdays · 28/03/2008 05:29

hi all - no baby arrived for me yesterday, but antenatal appt showed head engaged 3/5's again, so at least we are going in the right direction again. My mum arrived safely and has been helping me do the nursary, it is the first time I had a room to decorate as a nursary so it has been fun, putting up the border on the wall was amusing as mum and I could not stop laughing at our inept attempts. I will attempt a few posts now but as it is 5.30am I might not make much sence

firsty - I have tried several different swim nappies, reusable etc, and in the end just found the disposable swim nappies (huggies I think?) the easiest to deal with.

Ready - hi and bye, hope you are doing ok?

fettle - hope you are having fantastic time on holiday, and that your night out with your dh was good.

Chooster - happy birthday for last tuesday - sorry we missed it!
And thank you for passing on our hellos to MrsMc. It will be tough moving house with young baby, I moved countries when ds was only 6 weeks old and it was very hard, I think it contributed to PND at the time.

Scorpio - Hi, I went from 2/5 last thursday to free on friday, to 3/5's today, so I think it is normal for them to be doing this at the moment. I just hope these little ones hurry up and make early appearances for us.

seaside - sorry to hear about your poor doggy, hope that the family are adjusting to him being missing? Good to hear that Cassius made a good appearance for you at church this week. When I took dd to church as a baby I used to sit at the back to feed her, but she was so noisy that everyone wondered what I was doing to her! I just had to try to look like I was giving her a cuddle to keep her quiet, but it was somewhat embarrasing!!!!

Hi to everyone else, sorry I have not managed to catch up fully, but sitting up here at the moment is uncomfortable, I should go back to bed!
