Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

Hi - I keep meaning to do Freecycle as well to get rid of the 2 (and counting) black bin liners of baby stuff! But might just take it to the clothing bins at the local recycling depot - some of it is only really fit for rags - milk stained vests etc... even the mightily impoverished could probably find stuff that wasn't fourth-hand (my sister's two and my two!)

Chooster - that is about the daytime milk feeds... but it will be quite liberating at the same time don't you think? I asked about keeping 1 or 2 BFs on here a while ago - most responses were that yes, it is possible to just do morning and evening. In answer to your question, ATM Isla has 4 feeds in the day (very roughly) 7am, 11am, 3pm and bedtime, then a crafty one in the night. But I think when DD1 was this age and on formula, she just had 3 bottles, morning and night, and one at about 2-3pm. and she was sleeping through How's Theo's nights?
Great news about the crawling... Isla seems to be not keen on crawling - she's just starting to get the hang of cruising and it is hilarious to see the look of utter joy on her face that she is able to move around like the rest of us... poor thing has been so frustrated up until now!
Hope your DH is picking up some super kitchen fitting tips

Its funny what you say about norks being super sensitive - mine are the same, can't bear to have them touched, yet can happily have Isla gnawing away on them (both top and bottom front teeth through now!)

Fettle - how's Toby coping with the AF milk? I saw your thread on it - so it seems it is quite a common thing. Poor you on getting AF while still BFing - that is one of the many benefits that is keeping me going!

Eeek, jsut seen the time, gotta get DD1 from preschool....

Chooster · 18/03/2008 19:17

I know its funny isn't it Bodders - as soon as DH gets anywhere near the nork region I finch away - its not like it hurts its just super sensitive , but Theo's chomping doesn't bother me. On the nights I WISH I could say it was sorted but its not. A couple (and I literally mean a couple) of nights recently he';s gone straight trough til 5.30 ish but usually he wakes once. IOf its twice then I feed him once but let him settle himslef the other time. Sometimes it takes a little while but he gets there in the end. I'm not too bothered at the moment but I'll be more bothered once I start back at work. He is teething at the moment and has another cold so I'll let him off for a while longer. Wow, Good on Isla for her cruising skills!!! She must love it! .

Mum and Dad are here tonight so they are entertaining Max but I'd better go and see whats going on... x

iamamummy · 19/03/2008 09:25

hi ladies

i hope you are all refreshed from a lovely nights sleep

im really feeling peed off with df today - he woke me up at 4:00am with his window shattering snoring then at 4:15 oscar woke up so was up for an hour settling him, oscar woke again at 7am and after about 30 mins of him spitting his dummy out and me putting it back in he was finally drifting off and then df decides to bloody get out of bed and pick oscar up and start bouncing him so when df is getting washed i am left with a screaming baby because he has been woken up!!
i went downstairs with oscar to get breakfast and then when dp went to work at 8ish me and oscar cuddled up on the sofa dozing and then 10mins later df barges through the door having a VERY loud conversation with his work colleague and slams the living room door as he comes in he then has the bloody cheek to tell me to do some washing and literally order me up off the sofa to come online and pay some bills - so i have decided to mn instead

we had our 6 week check yesterday all is well, oscar is booked in for his first lot of jabs and i have my prescription for the pill - i have delayed picking it up as yet as i feel a bit weird starting to take it again. its been 2 years since i stopped taking it to start ttc and then to suddenly start taking something to stop your body from getting pregnant just seems odd and un natural as its consumed my life for so long.

sorry im rambling now....

honey - we joined freecycle but i got totally peed off with deleting 300 emails daily!!

oscar is waking so better shoot... xx

Bodkin · 19/03/2008 13:52

Iamamummy - you have my utmost sympathy - its sooo frustrating isn't it - it is usually my DD1 who yells Muuuuuuuuuummmmm up the stairs just as i've finally got isla down for a nap, thus waking her up and then i have to start all over again... grrr!

Chooster, sounds like theo is getting there with the nights in a kind of 2 steps forward 1 step back way!

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/03/2008 20:30

Hi All

Iamamum - hope DF has been quieter after his noisiness this morning!

Bodders - just sent you an e-mail re our meet-up. Toby is back to feeding a bit better again, so must have been something about AF milk! Hope I still have long cycles and don't suddenly have a 28 day cycle for the first time in my life!

Chooster - I managed to feed DD morning and night for a few weeks, but after a couple of nights away although I expressed to try and keep the supply up, it dried up pretty quickly, which was upsetting - but then expressing never is as good as baby sucking. How is/was DH's personal development trip? Good on Theo with his crawling!

Honey - not really got into freecycling, but my friend keeps trying to get me to do it! Seems like a good idea though.

Hope everyone else is doing ok - quite quiet at the moment.

Rainbowy and Scorpio - any exciting signs yet?

We had a much better night's sleep with Toby last night, so hopefully they will continue to improve. Just in time to go away again and mess everything up!!! He's almost rolling from back to front, but those pesky arms get in the way!!

right, should be sorting out stuff for holiday and in-laws coming this weekend, but shattered, despite more sleep last night!

take care all
xxx

Bodkin · 20/03/2008 10:30

I forgot to ask in my email where you're going Fettle - anywhere nice?

It is quiet on here isn't it - i'm starting to look like a regular poster again

honeyapple · 20/03/2008 11:29

Hiya-

agree this thread is getting very quiet- hope it isnt going to die off ... hurry up rainbow and scorpio- we need new LOs to revive the thread!!

Fettle- you know you said your AF had started- did it come on with obvious bleeding? I've had some strange discharge overnight which I thought might be my AF- but it hasnt turned into bleeding- it's a bit like last few days of lochia . Did have sex the other night (DP attempting to get over his issues )...I would be surprised if it was AF cos I didnt start until stopping BF with my other DC.

Dex was up and down most of the night so am feeling a bit bleary eyed today- have skipped my postnatal exercise class.

Hope you all have lovely easter weekends- anyone doing anything nice?

OP posts:
Chooster · 20/03/2008 13:42

Hi ladies! Yes, we need to entice the new mummies back (I'll give MrsMc a nudge in the right direction when I see her next week). Its funny isn't it that its the second / third time mums who've been more regular on here recently. Maybe we're all looking for a break away from those pesky kids .

Thanks for the innfo on part time bf - I'm not sure if it will work but I'd like to think it will at least for a little while. I really do enjoy feeding him when its not a massive struggle. I think he's having more milk during the day from the bottles but when I see the speed he drinks then I'm not so sure. Perhaps the little 3 mins on the boob is enough . Anyway, I wont stress about it too much - he'd need to get onto a bottle anyway in the next couple of months.

Yeah, tell us more about your holiday Fettle?

What do you think is up with Dex Honey?? Theo was also up a lot in the night so I took him in with me in the end.. Teeth I think - he still has none

Hope DP is being a bit better behaved Iamamummy! DH has just gone off to work loudly which has woken Theo up [grrrrr]. Am sitting here hoping he'll nod back off again . I can imagine how you feel about the pill - I still haven't collected my pill prescription from my 6 week check .

Right, dont think he's nodding back off again... See you

Bodkin · 20/03/2008 14:15

Nah, I don't think it's the break from the kids I'm after when I'm on here, it's procrastinating from doing anything remotely useful like housework/accounts I think after your first baby, you try and carry on life as normal, so fit everything in when the baby naps ( I know I did, I achieved more in the first 2 years of DD1s life than I ever have in my entire life! as soon as she went to sleep, I got busy) but this time round, too knackered and can't be arsed, so spend my time on here!

Duff night round our way last night as well. Isla woke up at 12am and I decided that she couldn't possibly be hungry as she'd done really well and eaten loads at teatime and had a really good feed at bedtime, and normally she would sleep longer than that on milk alone. So I was all for leaving her to get herself back off to sleep, but DP wimped out and took her downstairs saying he would give her a bottle if I wouldn't feed her, so I said fine. 2 hours later he came back up, asking where the bottles were She had been quite happily watching telly with him! In the end, she settled while he was making the bottle and slept til 6.30... ha, I knew she wasn't hungry! Anyway, to cut a very long and rather tedious story short, i said I wasn't doing night feeds any more, he could be in charge of that from now on and administer bottles, and I will happily do all the early mornings. We'll see how that goes....

Got Isla's 7-9 month check up this afternoon so we'll see how she gets on with that... I think she is doing all the things she's supposed to.... [apart from sleeping through, that is

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 14:16

No, no exciting signs here! 37 weeks tomorrow.

greedygreedyguzzler · 20/03/2008 15:26

hello all! i feel like i have been away for ages and no one even missed me!!!!! HUH!!!!

got a million things i want to say but i know i will forget most of them!

iamamum- did anyone answer your bottle question about sterilising? not sure i know what you mean, but once you sterilise a bottle it should stay sterile for 24 hrs in or out of the fridge i think as long as youo dont open it up and sneeze into it!

honey - i CAN'T believe you are blowing me out!!! now i know how you feel fettle being shunned by bodders!!! maybe we should meet up instead hey!!! i was REALLY looking forward to comparing our hairy front bottoms too!!! let me know what other day is good for you?

what is this freecycle then? i might investigate!!!

i was in solihull yesterday and it was only when i got home last night that i realised that one of you lives near there dont you? or have i got that wrong?

iamamum - i agree with rainbow by the way. having 2close together is fab and i am actually finding the gap i have now between marcy and kiki (2 yrs 9 months) harder than before which was only 17 montnhs. if you have them close you dont have to worry about taking the older one to nursery or preschool when you have you second baby and you can just chill in the house or do whatever you want when you want. what i find hardest now is HAVING to take ds to school every day and kiki to pre school twice a week and then ballet and karate and its just a lot of in and out and messing about for poor little marcy! (little!!!). so i would recommend a small gap. we started ttc no. 2 when no.1 was 6 months and luckily i fell straight away. my second was 1lb 20z bigger than 1st, but dont think you can worry about that too much. and also my secong pg was much worse than my first.............but i think that is often the case cos you already have no. 1 to look after and are knackered anyway!!! WOW!!!!!that was my opinion!!!

glad some of the babes are sleeping better, good to hear and about flippin time!!! not saying anything about marcy cos i am forever saying things and tempting fate so i am just going to keep quiet!

better go i guess.............got easter eggs and a couple of pressies to buy whilst i should be working cos kids areat the childminders ( who is lovely by the way!!!). going to make the most of 2 hours freedom!! we have got a hectic weekend coming up and are staying with friends on sat and my mum on sun night so will no doubt have 2 rubbish nights sleep then!!

ok......hello everyone i havent mentioned and come on rainbow and scorpio.............is it just city left after you two?

honeyapple · 20/03/2008 17:33

hi greedy- get some easter goodies?
i'm equally sad that we wont be able to compare hairiness for a few more weeks ... kids are back to school on the 22nd...so i could do that day, or weds or friday of that week...TBH i am free most days- so what ever is best with you.
freecycle is this online thing where you give away stuff for free- but as iamamummy mentioned you can end up deleting millions of emails- i have set it up with a yahoo address which is not my main email.

chooster- think dex slept badly becos he needed to do a HUGE poo- which he did whilst on school run.

Got my old high chair out of sister's shed- dex is SO cute sitting in it- he will be 20wks on monday . Will post a piccie.

scorpio- still pg then!

fettleandbabyfettle · 20/03/2008 20:05

Hello!!!

Hope this thread doesn't fade away - who else will I whitter innanely to when DH is away or noone else will listen!!!!

Back to a bad night last night, so hoping tonight will be better again! Only thing I can see from day before yesterday was that he slept more peacefully and for longer during the day and ate really well, whereas yesterday he kept being woken up by Darling darling DD[grrrrrr!] He didnt' get much decent sleep today, but we'll see!

DH is just off out to a poker night - apparently only £5 each, but I think I'll make sure car keys, house keys etc stay at home!!!

Bodders - will see how I feel when back from holiday and make a decision about that Wednesday if that ok? Probably just feeling a bit too tired at the moment, but will need some things to amuse DD in her last week of her holiday.

Greedy - we did miss you - it was awfully quiet! How is your sister? Think Firsty lives somewhere in the Midlands, not sure about Solihul though - what were you doing there?[nosey emoticon!]

Honey - can't believe little Dex is already in a high chair - only put Toby in his a couple of weeks ago and still need to use a blanket to stop him head-butting the table! Although he's getting better each day! He is very cute though - haven't taken a photo of him in it, must do so now you've made me think of it!!! In fact I ought to put a more recent photo up of him for you to all drool over!!

Bodders - I'm with you - MN is great for procrastinating. I really ought to somehow not switch the computer on until after i've done my housework, but I get bored while I'm feeding Toby and then get hooked! Do you think there is a Mumnets Anonymous for addicted women! How was Isla's check-up? All ok? Good on you getting DP to do night feeds - wonder what they watched together last night?!

Chooster - do send our love to Mrs Mc when you next see her. How's Theo sleep doing?

Right Scorpio and Rainbow - can you both either have your babies in the next 3 days or hang on for a couple of weeks please? don't want to miss the births!

We're off to my parents flat in France again skiing - supposed to snowing lots between now and Monday when we arrive, so hopefully then we'll have 10 days of sunshine! Be interesting to see how much of her skiing DD remembers. hopefully I'll get some more skiing now that Toby is a bit more independent of me. It will be good having my Mum, as she is going to try giving him some bottles and he may well take them from somebody other than me[fingers crossed]. Also hopefully DH and I will get a night out alone with some live-in babysitters, which will be good.

Right - must watch some rubbish TV and go to bed early since I have the evening to myself - should be cleaning as the in-laws come tomorrow, but can't be bothered!!

xxx

fettleandbabyfettle · 20/03/2008 20:34

Just put a couple of photos up from a couple of weeks ago - looks a bit pale as he was just coming down with the cold and cough and sleepless nights! Can't believe how few photos we have taken of him compared to the thousands we have of DD at this age and younger. Must make a better effort from now on!

xxx

Bodkin · 20/03/2008 22:23

Wow Fettle - he looks sooo grown up! he is just gorgeous - love his stripey top!

Hope you're in for a better night tonight...

Skiing again eh? you lucky thing - hopefully you'll get some nice time alone with your DH and a good bit of skiing in too!

Well, my HV check was quite worrying - Isla has LOST weight!!! Bit alarming really, as she's only on the 9th centile as it is and now she's on the 2nd. She's lost an oz since I last had her weighed about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The HV was pretty cool about it and when I remembered that she'd had that tummy bug where everything was just going straight through her, she said it was probably just a blip and to come back in a month to check it again. It is quite strange for me to have such a tiddly one this time around, DD1 had ROLLS of fat on her and was always veering up the centiles! So anyway, as a result I suppose I'll just have to live wiht the night feeds for a bit longer - the guilt has spurred me on! Have just given her a dreamfeed in the hope of getting her to sleep for a few more hours after I go to bed though... we'll see.

Better go and get my head to bed then,

Nighty night

Bodkin · 20/03/2008 22:29

Honey - just seen your lovely pic of dex in the highchair too

So I have put a recent one of Isla up as well.... finally, she sits!

rainbowdays · 21/03/2008 17:37

Sorrry have not got time to read posts, but just wanted to update you, now I am 37+5weeks

I had an interesting 24 hours. Went for routine antenatal appt, nothing unusual. Went to supermarket afterwards and barely made it back to car as strong painful contractions stopping me moving too far too fast. Realised driving home was not an option, hospital only a few hundred metres away so drove back to hospital and sat in reception area wondering what to do other than rest and hope the contractions would reduce. After an hour walked upto maternity/labour ward. They told me to go get hospital notes from admission and to return to get checked.

When an hour later they managed to get to see me, I was having contractions every five minutes - almost off the scale on the CTG, examined - baby 3/5 engaged but only 2cm (was less than 1cm 3 weeks previously). So was admitted to see how things progressed. Continued for a few more hours of really strong take breath away contractions with pressure and period type pain. Then all started to slow down again...... arggggg. This morning contractions 15 to 20 mins apart and examined again, baby now out of pelvis floating high and completely closed cervix...... , all the pain had done nothing but move the baby the wrong way!!!!!!!!

Oh well looks like I have a few more days of contractions to go yet.

Ambi · 21/03/2008 17:45

Just checkin in to see the HVCers (have now), there's a couple of names I recognise.. nearly there chuck, also city angel, honey apple and fettle. But was hoping to spot MrsMcjnr, to see how she's getting on as she was the life and soul of our TTC boards back then. Hope you're ok..
Good luck to impending mama's...

Chooster · 21/03/2008 19:58

Aaaargh - how annoying rainbow!!! To go through all that and then for the baby to dis-engage - they're pesky creatures aren't they! Good job your supermarket was only a stones throw away from the hospital. Fingers crossed things progress for you soon, unless of course you want Jak to hold on until your mum arrives in which case - HOLD ON BABY!!

Agh, lovely photos Fettle and Bodkin. Beautiful happy kids . We've got an amazing bunch of littlies on here haven't we. Like you say Bodders, Isla was really unwell for a while so that must be why she's lost weight. I've probably mentioned my friend who's DD is off the bottom of the centiles for her age. She's 18 months old but Theo is about the same height and heavier. The HV were worried but the GP said everything is fine... She eats like a horse as well but is probably just destined to be petite . How is Nelly doing?

Well, we've had a hugely grumpy day today here. You know how they say that when you share a house wth other women then your AF's go in synch after a while, well, I think thats whats happening on this thread . First Iamamummy, then fettle then maybe honey and now me!!! Bloody AF arrived this morning . And oh my God I was a miserable cow for most of the day. I just had no patience and got cross SO easily. I can't remember being this bad before??? Maybe its just because I haven't had one for ages. Max was grumpy for some reason, Theo is teething and I think DH was just at the tail end of everything . Anyway, DH is now out and the boys asleep so I think I'll take myself off to watch the soaps in bed .

Hope everyone is having a good easter

Bodkin · 21/03/2008 20:01

Hi, me again!

Rainbowdays - This baby seems to be very indecisive! Hope things happen soon for you and you're not in and out of labour for much longer!

Anyone here ever had any photos done by Venture? I have been given a session as a gift, but have just been reading about them on here and they've got a really bad reputation, so now I'm not sure whether to cancel the session or not. Basically, it sounds like they take great pictures, but then they give you the hard sell and you end up having to remortgage the house to pay for them. I imagine it is quite difficult to say "no thanks" when you're surrounded by gorgeous pics of your kids...

Bodkin · 21/03/2008 20:05

Crossed Chooster! Grrrr pesky AF! Do you think that is because Theo is taking more bottles now then?

The other thing I meant to say is that my 10pm sneaky dreamfeed last night ACTUALLY WORKED! She then slept until 4.50am.... best she's done for eons. DD1 and DP woke me up a couple of times before she did though! Will give it another whirl tonight and see what happens.

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/03/2008 22:29

dont worry about isla bodders.....she isnt as small as marcy is big! IYKWIM!!! i had all sorts of comments about kiki when she wetn off the scales and talk of endocrine disorders and all sorts, but she is just a VERY tall girl and now i can see that!!! so i am not at all worried anout marcy!!! if isla is on the 2nd centile that means 2 % of babies the same age weigh less than her.....someone has to be at the bottom end of the scale and i dont get the idea that you are exactly a heavy girl yourself, so its fine that she is petite!!! glad the dream feed worked and that she is sitting up nicely......she looks very cute!!

i feel a bit left out with the new pics!! might take one of marcy in her highchair covered in goo and post that!!!

fettle - you are so lucky to be off on holiday again! i am jealous!!! we are off to reading this weekend..........glamorous hey!!???

ok then honey............how about fri 25th april? i will pencil it in on my calender. let me know!!!! i am a bit worried that kiki will get bored, but as long as there is food involved she should be fine!!!

best go to bed.....................turned dh down earlier when he tried to get jiggy!!!!!! is that really bad? it was just before eastenders though and i knew it was going to be exciting tonight!!!!!...............and it was..............sort of!

rainbow........................everytime i see a post from you i get butterflies in my stomach. the way you describe things brings it all back so clearly...................you are so lucky you will be getting to meet your tiny little newborn so soon!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

night all!

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/03/2008 22:31

OH MY GOD MY TYPING IS SHIT!!!!! I try and do it too quickly and never check it........i can spell really ....honest!!! who said they fancied tony from skins ages ago by the way?................cos i watched an episode earlier with him shagging and now i do too!!!!!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 22/03/2008 09:30

Hi all!!

Sorry Chooster that I spurred on your AF! My emotional outbursts were so much worse than I remember except before I was diagnosed with depression - quite scary!!! it was also much heavier, but all finished now and serene mummy reigns again!!!. Hope you have better day today!

Honey - Chooster reminded me that i hadn't answered your question. My AF started with thrush-like discharge for couple of days then wierd browny wipes for couple of days then full on AF! TMI alert! Never had it start like that before, so went to dr about it as thought if I have thrush would like it treated before my operation, but dr says that many woman get trush-like symptoms or bacterial vaginosis before a period, so it was quite normal Hope it doesn't happen every month! Did your ever turn into AF in the end?

bodders - don't worry about Isla - Greedy said it all very well - as long as she is alert, happy (some of the time!) and developing normally, her weight and size isn't important!

Rainbowy - poor you - obviously going to be a child who can't make his mind up easily!!!

Right - big waves to everyone - must go - DH is glaring at me. Supposed to be going on a Easter Egg Hunt, but it is currently snowing! - don't want snow here, going to get enough of that next week! We are lucky going again - booked it the day we got home at new year, so flights were really cheap and obviously don't have to pay for accommodation etc!

HAve a great Easter if I don't get back on before.

honeyapple · 22/03/2008 19:20

oooh fettle- that description sounds exactly like what I've got- no AF yet though...

greedy- that friday should be fine... I'm intrigued to see how tall Kiki is now! DD was just crowned the tallest in her class (reception)- her teacher said she was like a kid in yr2... BTW did you see any of that programme on tall kids...hope kiki doesnt get that big- there was a poor girl who had to buy her shoes from a tranny shop cos she couldnt get any in her size (12)- she was 12 yrs old and over 6ft.

just a quick post- back later
