Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

greedygreedyguzzler · 01/03/2008 13:02

iampg...............do it whenever you are ready! i had stiches with ds and we attempted it after 2 weeks, but i was too sore, but by 3 weeks it was fine. as long as you tell dp he might have to stop at anytime if it hurts should be fine!!!

NOW listen up everyone..................i have checked and double checked..............and READYs chart looks quite exciting to me!!!!!!!! i am sure i am not missing anything. i think she is having a break from MN cos she thought af was coming cos she had a temp dip and some blood but her temp is still high..................so i am hoping she has good news.

fettle - you are in touch with her aren't ypou.........come on.........spill the beans!!

honeyapple · 01/03/2008 15:49

oooh greedy- I really hope you are on to something with Ready- wouldnt that be fantastic . Hope Marcy gets better- 19lbs sounds impressive- however- my SIL's little boy who is 12wks old weighs an enormous 17lbs already and she is solely BF him. DP was VERY drunk last night... he's taken DS1 to footie today.

Iampg (when are you gonna change yr name??)- with my first I had stitches and waited until 6wks to have sex... and it was sore... also dont forget that it can be sore up inside you nr cervix too- take it gently!
How old is Oscar now?

iampgatlast · 01/03/2008 17:21

ohh greedy i really really hope it is good news for ready, we will be running out of bumps soon and just be left with babies...so you might have to go for number 4 afterall

honey - i will change my name soon..i promise i have added somemore pics to my profile! oscar is 3 weeks 3days old cant believe he is nearly a month already!

were your stitches internal greedy/honey or doesnt it matter when it comes to doing the deed? i think we will hold off until the 6 week check to be on the safe side.

HAPPY MOTHER?S DAY EVERYONE ? special love to the new/first time mummies out there. Wow if you had told me last year on Mothers day that this year I would be one myself I would never have believed you ? I remember being so down last year at this time ? But today I am so happy ? My mummy sent me some flowers and DH bought me some and a card also from Cassius ? ahhh

Chooster ? LOL at disguised carrot Don?t worry ? I have a crap sex life ? but sadly I am quite happy with it which is probably even worse!! My DH is exactly the same as yours ? stays up later than me. Don?t worry ? we are so far from being randy rabbits it is not even true ? In fact I think when we were TTC for 20 months we got our quota in for the next year or so at least!!

Greedy- well done on the weight loss keep it up ? I am in mourning for my vast jeans library ? I can get some of them on at a squeeze but my hips are the prob and I have a feeling they will never go back to the way they were as I think the bones have moved! Poor Marcy with her puking ? Cassius puked the other day on the changing table and it went all over his own face in his eyes and ears ? poor lad was so shocked!! LOL about shotputting DD?s!

Fettle ? great news about your work decision ? good luck with the application. I think it is the right thing to do for sure. Am shocked at your friend and the cream egg/cappuccino incident Ouch at your hospital appt on Monday ? hope it goes OK hon ? I am so scared of seeing doc on Tuesday in case it is not looking good down under.

Honey ? very impressed at your domestic goddess tendencies ? have to say I am really excited about weaning and food as I find the whole milk thing quite boring! Hope your DP was not too wasted on Friday night and you managed to avoid a smelly snoring gorilla incident! Ohh ? a holiday in Cornwall ? you might be near me! Hope Dex?s imms went OK

Buggymad ? Connie is gorgeous and so advanced Poor you with PCOS

Bodkin ? Yipee all the visitors have ?fecked off? I am so rubbish at saying no when people ask if they can stay/visit . Happy belated birthday btw

Rainbow ? hope you are home safe and sound now and that everything /baby has settled down. Hopefully you are having a lovely mothers day with your family.

Firststar ? hope you and DS are OK hon [big hugs]

Cityangel ? How are you hon ? any news ? You must have had another scan /appt by now I think? When is your due date again?

MrsMc ? hope Xavier is sleeping better and that you are doing OK.

Iampg ? grr about DF (not sure if I have said congrats on your engagement ? so exciting!! and romantic!) Sleep deprivation is a real killer isn?t it ? but it is amazing how you just manage to get up and carry on! Pre Cassisus if I only had 2 hours sleep would be a mess and def need to catch up. No such luck now! Although DH is really good and tries to let me have a nap in the afternoon if the night has been really bad

Cassius was weighed at 4 weeks and was 8lbs 11 so put on 2 lbs since birth ? they seemed happy at the clinic and said he was back on his centile ?? We have our 6 week check on Tues so hopefully they will weigh him again then.

We have been going to postnatal yoga ? mummy and baby ? which is really lovely and Cassius is such a good boy ? just lies gurgling on the mat looking at the other babes or sleeps

Unfortunately we have both had a cold this week (damn those visitors ? grrr) poor Cass has been snuffling away and also doing little pathetic coughs ? but again he is such a star and does not grizzle or grumble about being poorly ? unlike his Mummy!!

Now all the visitors have gone and we are back to normal I am really hoping to get a routine of sorts established ? but even if we don?t manage it he is such a good boy most of the time ? sleeps loads in the day and is not so bad at night although he would much prefer to be in our bed with us than in his cot! He is generally very calm and contented. He loves having baths and is starting to smile I am sure ? he has a really funny gummy grin and almost laughs. His eyes are still a bit sticky so may ask doc for something on Tuesday. Also he has a patch of red sore skin on his inside leg/groin area ? it is red and sore with little white dots/pimply bits ? is this the beginning of nappy rash??

I am so over expressing and my milk is drying up anyway as I have not been doing it frequently enough with all our visitors and my mum leaving etc. The past 2 weeks I have had lots of blocked ducts (ouch ) and tbh I am resenting the amount of time I am attached to the pump ? not being able to look after my bub or indeed do anything except make a phone call or watch TV. Plus Cassius seems to much prefer his formula as he keeps spitting out my breastmilk or rolling it around in his mouth?!

Well he is stirring from his lunch time nap and I still have to express stupid boobs!! Better go. Loads of love to all

xxxxxxxxxxx

PS fingers crossed for Ready - think I would be almost as excited fpr her as I was for myself when I got a BFP!!

rainbowdays · 02/03/2008 15:04

Hi all, just a very quick message to say I am thrilled to be back home

The journey was not fun, although spending time alone with dh in the car was interesting....!!!!!! It felt weird not to have the children around.

Have I missed something? I thought Ready was taking a break from mn, due to yet another arrival of af last week?

By the way, we have finally found the name for this boy who is wriggling like mad inside me - Jak (if you want explanation for weird spelling or full name, then you will have to email me!)

ok have to go play with my wonderful children.....

fettleandbabyfettle · 02/03/2008 20:09

Hi all

No time to post/reply to everyone properly - I had a scan through earlier and I only have 2 minutes now, but I just wanted to say quickly to stop everyone getting too excited that no Ready is not hiding some big secret. Quite the opposite actually, she is very low about the whole TTC side of life at the moment. But I'll let her know you are thinking of her still.

right must dash - back later hopefully.
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 02/03/2008 20:13

ok, now i feel REALLY bad about ready. i noticed she had posted more details on her chart earlier and realised that she prob wasnt pg. it was cos she had 15 high temps in a row and then disappeared i got excited. i will keep my mouth shut in future. sorry ready.

Chooster · 02/03/2008 20:42
  • Theo has slept the last 2 nights from 6.30pm to 6.30am!!! Can not believe it!!! Have spent the last couple of days wondering what I've done differently, but have come to the conclusion that its just one of those things - in fact I reckon he could just be knackered from the aftermath of his cold. But ita all good. Dh was also out on Friday night (with most of your DP's by the sound of things ) and he was also banished to the spare room as he'd been for a curry too . So anyway I was in bed by 9.30pm so got the most sleep I've had in about a year!!! . Roll on a rubbish night tonight, but I dont even care cos I know he can do it... We've had to lower his cot down as he was leaning over the top of it, so there goes another milestone saying goodbye to the baby days .

Thanks for all your sex confessions ladies!!! I feel positively frisky now actually as we must have had sex half a dozen times since Theo was born . Yeah, we have talked about it Fettle, in that kind of "Do you think things will ever get abck to normal" way. Its not really a problem between us I just wondered if I was alone in being too knakered and not really that interested in it.

Wow, Marcy is doing well with her weight . Did the HV say anything in the end Greedy??? Hopefully they should realise that thats just the way they are after Kiki? Are the DD's much bigger at the same age that Ellis??? Wonder if Kiki will be taller than him at some point. Sorry you've been missing the little guy because of your work. Hope Marcy is feeling better now???? Any news on ready?????? I would be fab to get more bumps here .

Fettle, is your hospital trip tomorrow?? Fingers crossed for you if it is! It does sound a bit 'ouch' but I really hope it doesn't cause you too much grief.

Hi Seaside - lovely long post from you!!! Cassius sounds like an angel baby! .

Ahhh, running out of time - DH hassling me to get off PC and watch something on TV with him. Not had any mothers day card or anything today, so wonder if its all a ploy and he's got a lovely chilled glass of wine in the living room next to a big bunch of flowers waiting for me right now Very much doubt it but I can live in hope eh

Bodkin · 02/03/2008 21:16

Hi all

That's very reassuring to read about all of your non-existant sexlives. I think once a month is about the rate at the moment

Chooster - Great news on Theo's sleeping. It's brill when they do it and you know that they can. Hope you haven't jinxed it by telling us

Honey - sorry Dex is waking more for you - I'm afraid that seems to be the way all our babes have been - quite good to start with, but then waking more at about 4-5 months. Still, me and Chooster have had a couple of sleep-throughs, so you'll get there in the end.

Gotta dash

honeyapple · 03/03/2008 10:15

Well Dex slept 10pm-6am last night so perhaps things are going to improve!

Sorry to hear about Ready .

Seaside- i've just reserved a fab looking house practically on the beach nr Seaton. South cornwall coast. Glad all going well with Cassius and that you had a lovely Mother's Day. I got flowers, chocs and a lie-in (although had Dexter in bed with me ) and DS1 brought me a drink which vaguely resembled a cup of tea .

Dex is almost sitting up now which is great- got an old one of those blow up ring things and he has been happily sitting in it (with a blanket propping him up). He is really in to his food... loving all my homemade fare which is cool.

Right- need to get dressed and get on with the day! Desperately need to dye my hair- the greys are depressing.

iampgatlast · 03/03/2008 10:32

hi ladies

it was so lovely to be a mummy on mothers day i managed to get two cards from "Oscar". he also started doing real smiles yesterday and i just thought how perfect. When i woke up i got him out of his cot and put him in our bed for a cuddle before we got up and his whole face just beamed. i love being a mummy

chooster - thats a mega sleep from theo you lucky thing if i get 4 hours of broken sleep im overjoyed! oscar has got into the habit the last 2 nights of not wanting to sleep until 1am.

fettle - good luck for today if you are having your scar seen to. i hope its a swift recovery for you from now on.

rainbow - so pleased you are finally with dp, i love the name Jak too

seaside - i remember the feelings of last mothers day well too and how time has flown and we have our boys now cassius is still lighter than oscar was when he was born, what did he weigh when he was born again? ouch on the blocked ducts,i tried expressing milk for oscar whilst he was constipated but i was getting such a small amount and the nipple pain was awful so i gave up but like cassius he loves his formula, what formula is he on? oscar is on aptimal hungry baby and he guzzles 5oz in one sitting! i hope your 6 week check up goes well - then 2 more weeks and its time for jabs

hello to everyone else, i will change my name this avo and i have taken some pics of oscar in his tigger outfit - he looks gorgeous! so i will pop a pic of that up too.

bye bye xxxx

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/03/2008 12:09

Hi all

So good to hear from Seaside and iampg at how happy you both sound! It is so lovely becoming a mummy for the first time!!

Chooster - great sleeping from Theo - I hope last night was as good?

Honey - Dex sounds as if he is coming on well. I feel that Toby weaning is coming on really slowly - still only introducing a new food every 3 days, does that sound reasonable, or do you think I can speed that up a bit now? Really really can't remember what happened with DD, seems different this time around!

Rainbowy - hope you are being well looked after at home with your feet up.

Bodders - hellooooo!

Greedy - how's work going? Enjoying it? I think I'm still happy with my decision not to go back to work, but I'm worrying about money at the moment, that i'm wondering if I'll enjoy not working. I'm sure we'll be fine and it just take a few months to realign our spending habits!

First - how you? Very quiet at the moment.

I hope you're ok too MrsMC

big waves to everyone else!

toby is doing well - still waking 1-2 times per night and feeding every 3-4 hours through the day. Just very hungry - his weight is veering upwards though now, not down off his centile curve - so he's obviously gaining well!
I have to admit that I'm feeling a bit low today - everyone keeps telling me what wonderful things they got yesterday (breakfast in bed, flowers, homemade cards etc). I got nothing! (well got a lovely card DD had made a school, but DH hadn't done anything). Went out for lunch with some old work colleagues of DHs and they all sat and talking work, while I was left with both DC to entertain! Didn't feel like a very special mother's day to me, but at least I got lots of cuddles with my babies!! Then first thing DH got to workt his morning he sends me an e-mail asking if he can go on a sailing week with work in the summer! Not feeling very generous at the moment!!!

anyway, probably feeling a bit low as he'd forgotten to book time off to come with me this afternoon to the hospital, so I have to go on my own and I'm petrified - sure it will be fine, just hope Toby is happy while I'm being seen to!

honeyapple · 03/03/2008 12:30

oh Fettle- big hugs- hope the appointment this afternoon is ok- be brave . BTW I had to drop SEVERAL hints to my lot to make sure they did anything for Mother's Day! As for weaning- I am trying to give Dex the same things for a couple of days at a time (only really started every day last week)... he just is really keen and starts crying when the food is gone! I havent let him have more than one cube at a time though cos worried he will get tummy ache if he eats too much. I might start doing him some 'supper' this week... at the moment he just has a little bit at lunch time. I think the thing is just to go with what Toby is happy with. I think you could try to add more different tastes now as he is a bit older.

Dex is whinging! Bye for now xx

OP posts:
greedygreedyguzzler · 03/03/2008 13:12

i think i know where i am going wrong now!!!!!! marcy has about 4 or 5 ice cubes for lunch and dinner and nearly a whole banana for brekkie. she still drinks 4 9oz bottles a day too........at 7am, 11am, 2.30pm and 6.30pm. i am going to try and cut out the 11am one (did try today but she got really grumpy so i gave in!) i have started a thread on 'big' children and its amazing how many there are around, so shes not alone!!!

yes chooster.......both my dds are bigger than ds was.he has always followed the 91st centile quite nicely. and i worked it out (saddo that i am) that dd1 will overtake him whenshe is 3 1/2......so i will have to wait and see!

fettle - hope it goes ok this afternoon. my dh is good at mothers day and that sort of thing, but yours sounds as if he is good at so much other stuff, i wouldnt be too upset about yesterday. i think going slow with weaning is probably good.....especially as we shouldn't even have started yet according to the new guidelines! i am still only giving fruit veg and baby rice. seems a bit boring to me but marcy doesnt seem to mind. did think i might be super organised this lunchtime though while my big two are at preschool and school and cook something for marcy to have in a few months and freeze it.

spoke to my sis last night and she has her booking in appointment today. for some reason she is terrified. i kept telling her it was nothing to worry about but she is so nervous. her scan is in 3 weeks. she still has no symptoms though. no more bleeding though.

well done on the good sleeps babies............marcy has been better than ever for the last couple of nights too (touchwood) cos she hasnt woken till nearly 7am and we havent had the chattering at 4am! i have been really cutting back her daytime sleeps though.

anyone watch lost by the way?!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!???? it gets weirder every week!!!

honey - just been looking on my calender and my next two fridays are booked up and then its good friday.....................so how about april 11th for meeting??? if you are free i will write it on my calender! cant call you honeyapple though i will have to call you hannah!

Chooster · 03/03/2008 13:21

Ah, sorry you are a bit low Fettle - really hope it goes well for you this afternoon. We'll be thinking of you! . I also dropped several hints and still a big fat zero! I even reminded DH on saturday to get a card for his mum as we were passing the shops and he ran in - i wouldn't have been a massive leap in imagination to get one for me too when he was in there would it???? But apparently it was!!!! I think your DH is going to have to pull out a few more stops before the discussion of a sailing week comes up for discussion again .

Very gald that Dex did a better sleep for you Honey!!! Well done Dex! . Your holiday sounds great! Quite fancy that myself but Cornwall is so far away for us , but I've been once and loved it! We've booked onto our cruise a couple of days ago so am looking forward to that. I dont think we are interesting enough to get stalked by anyone on there .

Iampg - Your mothers day sounds lovely!!!! It really is nice hearing from the first time mums as there is something really lovely about it all isn't there - well, apart from the lack of sleep thing. Hope Oscar is a little better soon.

Right, better dash! Theo was great again last night. 7pm til 5am then fed and slept til 7.30. He's also doing big day time sleeps now too, 2 hours in one stint yesterday . Actually I do think the two things are connected because they do say that sleep breeds sleep dont they - so I think these longer daytime naps are somehow making him more rested for night time - if that makes sense .

Chooster · 03/03/2008 13:26

Crossed with you Greedy!!!! So Marcy's sleep is getting better by cutting out day time sleeps - damn I thought I had a connection to Theo sleeping well! Perhaps he's just more tired now that he's moving so much. he's not crawling but does a commando style creep across the floor - its very cute . It sounds like Marcy eats about the same as Theo and he still has 4 milk feeds a day too - 1 is now formula from a cup .

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/03/2008 13:39

Thanks girls - can always rely on you all to cheer me up!!!

Toby is having 2-3 cubes veg at lunch and an amount of baby rice with 1-2 cubes fruit at breakfast and suppertime, so think I'll stick with the every 3 day rule. Had potato for the 2nd time just now (bit late as he slept through his normal 12pm lunch!) - sweet potato made him very windy so gave up on that and he was a bit grumbly yesterday afternoon, so we'll see how he is this afternoon (hope not too bad!!).

Chooster - my sleep bible says that before you tackle night sleeping, you MUST tackle daytime naps - they must be napping correctly and for enough time during the day before you can even contemplate a good night's sleep! So you keep at it!! I know that's my problem - Toby just won't settle for very long during the day - although he just had a 1-2 hour nap (only woke up as I had to take him out of the carseat to go in and pick DD up!).

Right - better feed him and then take DD to her friends and get to the hospital.

back later
xxx

Chooster · 03/03/2008 13:45

Good luck Fettle!!!! Ah, so maybe there is a connection between daytime and nighttime sleeps. It just seems such a co-incidence that his nights have got much bettwe now that he is sleeping more in the day. He only used to do 3 20min - 30min snoozes which did't seem enough. He did an hour and a half this morning and has now been asleep for an hour again already !!! Anyway, have popped some new photos on...

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/03/2008 13:46

chooster - i have cut back on marcys sleep during the day, but she still has a good long lunchtime sleep. normally 30 mins in am 1 1/2 - 2 hrs at lunch and a 10 min cat nap in the afternoon. but she was having about 3 1/2 hrs a day so i have cut back. i agree she sleeps bette when her daytime sleeps are more structured!

does theo like his cup? i am hoping to give marcy one as soon as i can and stop sterilising!!! i HATE sterilising!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/03/2008 13:48

i love the pics chooster. the one at the top is adorable!!!! he looks SO cute!!! do you think he would fancy a big lass from sawbridgeworth!!? ( i mean marcy, not me by the way!!!)

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/03/2008 13:51

quick question - why don't you sterilise cups?

And do you sterilise food things, spoons etc?

seems a bit silly considering what Toby puts in his mouth all the time (my hair and nipples come to tin particular!!), but I do it all the same!!
xxx

Chooster · 03/03/2008 14:12

I'm sure he would fancy a big lass!!!! I think he's going to be a big boy himself!

He gets on well with his cup - I gave up on bottles a couple of months ago as he seems much happier holding his own cup and doing it himself. Have to admit that I dont sterilise anything anymore - not food things or the cups. The only things I ever sterilised were the bottles, not qute sure why - I guess cos I thought I should. Its not done him any harm so far though!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/03/2008 20:06

APPARENTLY............a wise old HV once told me ( i think they are wise when i like what they are telling me and it makes my life easier!!)..............its the teats that breed the bacteria because they can get tiny fissures in the plastic so as long as you dont use teats on the cups then a normal wash should be ok. thats what she told me anyway and i know the general rule is that you dont need to sterilise cups so i believed her cos it made my life easier!

kiki had a throat infection when she was 6 months and wouldnt take any milk from a bottle so we tried using a beaker in desperation and she was fine after a few attempts so we just gave up on the bottles! made her grow up a bit fast but she didnt sem to mind!

i have never sterilised any feeding stuff either!

fettleandbabyfettle · 04/03/2008 10:59

well don't feel so bad then about not sterilising food things for Toby either - will still sterilise any bottles, just cos it is so easy to use the microwave steriliser thingy!

well my appointment yesterday was quick and easy - foreign doctor and uncommunicative nurse made for a quiet time though!! Toby chatted away, but neither paid any attention to him!

If you're interested apparently the lump is too big to burn off with acid - let's give thanks for that, as that sounds really painful!! So he's just going to cut it out under local anaesthetic! Great - really looking forward to that then - NOT!!!! Should be done in day surgery, so just waiting for my appointment for that now! Never agreeing to an epiostomy again!

Right - must get on - lots of housework to do today and just can't be arsed - not looking good for my career break as a housewife is it, if I don't like housework! Much rather play with Toby all day!!!

oh, oooh, oooooh - he rolled over from his tummy to his back yesterday!!! yeah!!!! OK, so he's nowhere near driving a car like Buggy#s Connie, but he's getting there at last!!. DD was so excited too that she ran off to get him a sticker as he'd done such a good job!!!!!

xxx

seaside72 · 04/03/2008 17:31

ouch fettle - just when you thought they were done prodding you down there - {{{{{big hugs}}}}}}

on a similar note - we had 6 week check today and the doc did not even look at me? - just asked a few inane questions about how I was feeling (shit today actually!!! Cassius had a full on paddy for the first time just before we went, DH has been out loads recently and I suddenly felt really overwhelmed and alone - have a suspicion my period may be on its way - great - NOT!! I only stopped bleeding at the weekend -)

Am I supposed to make a 6 week appt for me too or is that it - for all they know they could have sewed me shut no one has had a look since day 5 when i was all swollen?? I thought I had to get the go ahead to exercise etc??

I have so many questions for you all knowing mummies but I dont know where to start and dont have time to type anymore

Back later hopefully
