Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

Just had my 12 week scan this morning, all looking good which is a huge relief! Hopefully the nerves will settle a bit now and be able to start getting a bit excited, that might make for a nice change 😆

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 15/11/2022 13:08

@Sera123 @ZoeQ90 brilliant news to both of you ☺️

@MO22 @Melusina123 @MRSDoos @Janefx40 sorry to hear you are also feeling anxious. Had hoped the scan reassurance would last more than 5 days for me 🙈🙈🙈 but apparently not!

@MRSDoos I think girl for zero reason whatsoever. Not even a nub visible on scans to guess from. We don't plan to find out so it'll be a while to wait to find out!

@Blue2020 my "20 week" is Dec 22nd so actually 19 weeks ish.

I'm going to book another private scan for start Dec as the anxiety is a lot to last until 22nd Dec!

Janefx40 · 15/11/2022 16:30

@Sera123 yay. Congrats. Glad you're feeling happy!

@MO22 I did the Panorama rather than the Harmony. We did this because it tests for more conditions and as our embryo had already been tested for the obvious stuff before it was transferred we thought that was a good idea. In retrospect I'm not sure it was a good decision because it's not that reliable for those extra ones anyway.

The first test failed because there wasn't enough fetal DNA in my blood stream which won't happen to you because you are further along. I was only 10 weeks at that point. The second one failed because the dr used an out of date test kit and the lab won't process it. Yes we will find out the sex too x

Anoushka1986 · 16/11/2022 09:32

I got my harmony test results today and we are having a boy! Very excited! And relieved that results were low risk.

MRSDoos · 16/11/2022 11:30

@Anoushka1986 congratulations

Has anyone thought of names yet?
I’m nervous about my gender scan and baby having no heartbeat but I can’t help but think of names at the same time. Such a conflict of emotions

Melusina123 · 16/11/2022 12:52

@Anoushka1986 congrats 💙💙💙💙

And congrats to everyone who had their 12wk scans. Is everyone through that milestone now? I'm almost 16 weeks, seems crazy!!

@MRSDoos I contemplate names a bit, but we haven't really discussed it as a couple, and i still feel very worried about jinxing things. I think if they're a boy names will be easy (we both agree on one in particular) but if they're a girl it'll be trickier. 😂 For now we're calling them Grogu as edd is May the 4th. 👀

MRSDoos · 16/11/2022 13:37

@Melusina123 I am the same. Boy name easy, girl name would take a lot longer to decide on.

I have been putting off buying maternity wear because I feel like I’ll jinx things. It’s absolutely crazy how much anxiety in pregnancy after loss can affect you. Logically of course buying maternity won’t change the outcome of baby, but in my head it’s such a big step

Janefx40 · 16/11/2022 13:50

@Anoushka1986 congratulations! Knowing the sex makes it seem very real!

@MRSDoos I know what you mean about not letting yourself think about stuff but then I figure I should let myself because if it all goes wrong then it will be too late to enjoy the dreaming. So I should let myself enjoy the dreaming of names or maternity plans etc now while I can!

Janefx40 · 16/11/2022 14:26

Call me crazy but I'm sure I can feel flutters. I know it's early (13+4) but I really think I can. Unless I can just feel my digestion more as my bump stretches my belly (am already huge but that happens in all my pregnancies!)

MRSDoos · 16/11/2022 14:30

@Janefx40 Ive started feelings weird sensations the last couple days. I’m just over 15 weeks now!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 16/11/2022 15:01

I had some bleeding for a short period of time last night so feeling v 😱😱😱

Congratulations to all with happy fetal sex/scan/trisomy screening news

Blue2020 · 16/11/2022 16:31

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I got a letter today with the 20 week scan date-21st December. It’s also at a health centre rather than the hospital, so that will be different.

I hope the bleeding has stopped and doesn’t happen again. I saw a few people mention that the cervix can be irritated in the second trimester. Hopefully it’s harmless. Would talking to the midwife be an option?

I have been having odd intermittent pains near my lower left/uterus. Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about and is the uterus stretching. Is anyone else having occasional pains?

MRSDoos · 16/11/2022 16:47

@Blue2020 My 20 week scan is the same date
For some reason I’m panicking about it being just before Christmas

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 16/11/2022 16:53

@Blue2020 Yeap lots of little crampy moments in abdomen and also bum... Lower left can also be gastric btw so trapped air or constipation

MO22 · 16/11/2022 18:26

@Anoushka1986 congrats on harmony test results! Still waiting on mine, hoping it will be Friday but need to be realistic and it's most likely start of next week.

@MRSDoos I know exactly what you mean re maternity, I HAD to buy some pants as my tummy is definitely sticking out more than usual, I only allowed myself one pack from m&s at a size bigger post the 12w scan... And some pjs. Otherwise I'm still a bit hesitant to which is definitely anxiety talking.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl hope you are doing ok, how are you feeling?

MO22 · 16/11/2022 18:28

@Janefx40 I weirdly woke in the night thinking... Is that some kind of flutters or something in there?! In the harsh light of day I think I must have made it up... I'm only 13w! I did Google it in the morning tho ha 😂

Blue2020 · 17/11/2022 18:43

I had lunch today and ordered a meatball panini. The person decided to put it in with the previous person and it therefore only had <1minute warming up. I’m sure it’s cooked cold meat before it goes in but I would still expect it to take longer heating up. When I got back to the office, I ate some of it and it varied between luke warm/cold patches. Logic at that point should have told me to stop but I thought maybe it was just that bit. I ate it and was just annoyed that my panini was semi cold, not thinking about the additional concerns with that. A short while later I started to worry about bacteria or food poisoning and I forced myself to be sick. It might have already been too late but I tried to do damage control just incase.

Now to be more careful going forward, and avoid paninis until May!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 17/11/2022 18:49

@Blue2020 I'm honestly sure it's fine but I do understand!

Is anyone else having quite a few little cramps all day? Again, it's making me worried

Melusina123 · 17/11/2022 19:45

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl yes I've been getting them a lot for about 1.5 weeks (since c. 14+3). As long as they come and go, I try not to worry too much. I can also often gently massage then away which makes me think muscles/bowels.

@Blue2020 I am also sure this is fine, but fwiw also most types of food poisoning will just make you miserable, not affect the foetus. From what I remember of Expecting Better, she says listeria is the one you really need to worry about and I doubt that would show up in a meatball sub in the UK?

Blue2020 · 17/11/2022 20:09

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl @Melusina123 thanks, it’s just being concerned about it. I would normally just brush it aside and take any illness. It’s good to know that if I do end up with an upset stomach it hopefully won’t have an affect.

Im still having the occasional short pains, I wouldn’t quite say they are cramps that I’m used to as such but maybe it’s similar to what you are both experiencing.

MRSDoos · 17/11/2022 20:17

I’m the opposite. I’ve had hardly any cramps / growing pains and that worries me! I wonder how my womb is growing if I can’t feel it growing.

I have an anterior placenta but keep feeling weird fluttery / popping feelings. I can’t help but wonder if it’s baby but at 15 weeks + 2 days first pregnancy to make it this far I think it’s too early… maybe

MRSDoos · 17/11/2022 20:18

@Blue2020 I had a Costa panini (pigs in blankets) the other day that was luke warm and worried about the same thing.

Anoushka1986 · 18/11/2022 12:18

@MRSDoos I don't think it's too early. Pretty sure my first pregnancy I started feeling movement around that time and that was with an anterior placenta .

Blue2020 · 18/11/2022 15:29

@MRSDoos I think I’m just going to avoid paninis now to avoid that happening again. It was at the on-site cafe that are usually really good.

MRSDoos · 18/11/2022 15:30

@Anoushka1986 I guess it’s hard this early on because they’re not super noticeable but you never know do you!
