How is everyone feeling today?
I am 5weeks 5 days.
Feeling a bit icky but not sick yet. Still getting period type cramps that come and go and very sore boobs!
Hubby is going overseas for work for ten days so feeling vulnerable 😭

Has anyone else filled out the midwife self referral form? I did a week and a half ago and not even had a confirmation email... is that normal? Not sure if I should call them to confirm or not...

Aw wow congrats!! I am thinking of doing an early scan at 8 weeks when other half is back from his trip. I'm hoping it will put my mind at rest too!
Yes this is our first so scary times! What about you?

StarsieZ · 19/09/2022 10:20

Hey everyone, hope everyone is feeling okay, is anyone else ridiculously tired? It's been a long time since I had my babies and I'm sure I wasn't this tired before although my oldest is 18 so yeah haha, could be just that I'm older haha x

TisforTucan · 19/09/2022 12:05

I'm 8 weeks today, my midwife appointment is tomorrow. Just got a feeling she'll make me goto hospital as I've been so unwell.

@StarsieZ My smallest is 2 and i don't remember being this tired, I've been falling asleep in the day on the sofa. Good job my husband works from home so he's always around! Hope it passes.

Hello, first timer here! I’m 5 weeks today according to my tracking app (I think I might be further along based on ovulation testing but we’ll see!).

In my area you have to have a GP appointment before they’ll refer you to a midwife. GP appointment isn’t until 4th October, when I’ll be 7ish weeks. Should I be worried or is that okay?

Receptionist didn’t ask any questions on the phone about dates etc

Charl881 · 19/09/2022 13:14

@Awkwardusername sounds about right, midwife not usually interested until around eight weeks. Congratulations!

It’s the same process where I am, and my GP appointment is 28th September when I’ll be 7w5d. I don’t feel like I need anything right now, so I’m not worried about the wait, hopefully you feel the same 🙂

Janch13 · 19/09/2022 14:58

I’m 5w5d today according to my app, don’t feel sick or anything yet (which is lucky as I’m currently on holiday), a bit tired and slightly sore boobs but no noticeable symptoms apart from MAJOR mood swings (poor DH! 😂)

We did an early scan at 9 weeks with our 1st pregnancy with DC3 so I think we’ll do the same this time as well.

I completed the self referral for midwife booking in appt before we came away but haven’t heard anything yet. I’m planning to request the same community midwife I had last time as she was fab.

Hope everyone else is feeling well and if not then at least you can blame the hormones and enjoy the peace of mind that everything is progressing as it should! X

I cannot believe how thirsty I am in this pregnancy! I've never had it like this before, drinking pint after pint of water and it's never enough, is anyone else having the same thing?

Melusina123 · 19/09/2022 15:53

@calipoppy I'm quite thirsty, but I am off water entirely. Fruit juices (preferably fizzy) is all I want to drink. I'm trying to drink lots of liquids because... constipation has got to me this week, which is, among other things, throwing off my progesterone pessary routine. 😩 Pregnancy is a beautiful time.

may111 · 19/09/2022 15:55

It's extremely random but has anyone experienced a pain at top of bottom
It's like a pulled muscle pain, it's not going away whatever I do, had it about 5 days now

TisforTucan · 19/09/2022 16:00

@calipoppy Ive been wanting to drink milk 🤢 I must not be having enough calcium but because I'm sick its not ending well 🤢. I'm better with fizzy but trying to drink water, anything flat doesn't stay down 😭

It's weird I feel like I'm brink of a water infection too despite drinking loads.

Awkwardusername · 19/09/2022 16:28

Also!
Ive worked out I’ll be due end of May/early June and I’m due to be a bridesmaid on the 24th… any top tips? My SIL has warned me I’ll still be in nappies 😳

TheBeesKnee · 19/09/2022 20:39

Honestly @Awkwardusername I would excuse myself, what if the baby comes early, or you have mobility issues towards the end? 😬

raffika · 19/09/2022 20:44

I’m a bit thirstier, and definitely going to the toilet more (sorry, over sharing!) I’m not into water so trying to stick to lemon squash and a bit of Pepsi Max (I’ve worked out the caffeine, so know my limits, though I buy caffeine-free when it’s in stock). Also having a cup of peppermint tea each day as I’ve had a couple of experiences of trapped wind and apparently peppermint helps.

@Melusina123 have you tried bran for your constipation? My SIL was on cocodamol in later pregnancy, which is known to slow down the digestive system, and it was causing her a lot of discomfort, but a bowl of bran sorted her right out. The High Fibre Bran in Tesco is about £1.80, so maybe worth a try?

I’ve been feeling better this weekend but feel
like some food aversions may be starting. I had planned some high protein pasta with garlic and herb philli for my tea, but I couldn’t bring myself to make it and I don’t know why.

Also (final whinge of the day) I’ve not put any weight or girth on yet, but I’ve noticed that I can’t wear anything remotely tight around my tummy. I wear gym leggings all the time, and they’ve got a big waistband which is fitted, but I had to take them off today as I felt sick and uncomfortable. I wear a lot of dresses and always buy big tights which go up to
my bra so they’ll be fine, but my fall back is jeans. I know my existing jeans are fitted, so expecting the same issue - I’m obviously not ready for maternity jeans, but wondering is it worth buying some normal jeans a size up. Has anyone experienced this?

Awkwardusername · 19/09/2022 21:09

I wish I could @TheBeesKnee, the bride, whilst a very good friend, is a total bridezilla and told all of the bridesmaids we “weren’t allowed” to get pregnant! Oops! 😂

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 19/09/2022 21:29

Generally I'm feeling OK (5 w 6). Sore boobs, occasionally a bit nauseous and a bit hormonal. And tired!

I had a missed miscarriage earlier this year so we've booked an early scan when I'm just under 9 weeks. We're on holiday so everything crossed - scan is when we're back.

Janch13 · 20/09/2022 06:48

@raffika in my 1st pregnancy I got the early pregnancy bloat for real!! I felt so uncomfortable in all my usual clothes so went & bought some jeggings (comfort over style!) in the next size up and some looser fitting flowy tops. By week 12ish the bloat went (woohoo!) and I felt OK in my usual clothes again. And then those bigger bottoms came in handy again from weeks 16-20ish before I was ready for maternity jeans.

I was able to wear most of my regular wardrobe last night - obvs not jeans and tight stuff but I could wear my regular tops with a long vest and leggings underneath. Everyone is different though in terms of when they start showing and I imagine as this is my 2nd pregnancy I’ll show earlier this time.

But definitely would recommend going and buying a few bits you feel more comfortable in to bridge the gap until you want proper maternity wear.

wonderfulworld33 · 20/09/2022 07:28

Morning ladies,

I woke up in the night with really intense cramps, they were so sore they made me feel sick. I said to DH that there was no way it could be a normal pain.

It passed in about 15 mins and returned to the dull crampy feeling that I have had throughout the pregnancy so far.

I was fully expecting bleeding when I woke up this morning but so far nothing...

Has anyone else experienced this? I know cramping can be normal but these were really intense 😔

Hopefully all is OK x

TheBeesKnee · 20/09/2022 14:26

I have been ill since Saturday. Really worried if this is going to impact the pregnancy?

I think it's just a cold but I've asked DP to bring home a COVID test.

How do I tell if I have the flu? 😭

wonderfulworld33 · 20/09/2022 14:27

Just found out I have a UTI so maybe that was the cause. Not ideal to be on antibiotics I don't suppose.

This sounds random... but does anyone else just feel like they aren't pregnant?! I'm now wondering if my symptoms were actually UTI related! I feel like I need to keep testing just to make sure but I have already done three!!

RugbyGirl1 · 20/09/2022 18:19

@wonderfulworld33 yes in a way! Although I think nausea kicked in today, either that or I was just worrying too much about my early scan. Which wasn't quite as reassuring as hoped although appreciate it's still early days. By LMP I'm 6+4 but scan was measuring around 5+6, sac, yolk and a flickering heartbeat... Got to go back in two weeks and hope the bean has caught up a bit 🙃

GanderingGoose · 20/09/2022 18:22

Hi all can I join? I've got my BFP today after missing aunt flo a couple of days back. I worked out that I'm currently 4+6. It's my first and I have no symptoms yet. This baby is very much wanted but it's so early still that I think I'm just going to have to keep it as "head news' for a while and not take it too much to heart for another few weeks.

Charl881 · 20/09/2022 20:58

Anyone seriously struggling with bloating? Eight weeks today and I honestly think I’m going to have to get my maternity clothes down from the lift soon, hardly anything is fitting comfortably. Was in my normal jeans until over 20 weeks with my son 😫
