@RugbyGirl1 ooh a pregnancy pillow is a must. As your bump gets bigger it's quite uncomfortable to sleep and it helps your back/hips etc to have a pillow between your legs. I used mine through second and third trimester. There are different shapes but really help give you some extra support and help to sleep more comfortably. I'm sure they will give you lots of tips and I'm sure this group can help too. That's nice you've got a holiday to look forward to as well. Where are you going? I'm sure there will be plenty selection to choose from. I went all inclusive in May in Gran Canaria and there was a great selection. I wasn't pregnant but could have eaten most of it. We are just bed and breakfast this holiday so will be eating out each day but I'm sure I'll have plenty choices

EdinburghGirl1 · 12/09/2022 14:23

@CDR520 unfortunately everyone is so different but think it can be around 6 weeks. Some people get it straight away and others don't get it at all so hard to tell. I think with my first it was around 6/7 weeks

CDR520 · 12/09/2022 14:53

I’m actually living in Canada and we’re just going up on the northern peninsula of Newfoundland for a week. We do it every September for 20+ years so I feel like if I don’t go they’ll be even more suspicious lol. It’s pretty remote, so I’ve already looked into where the closest clinic is in case things take an unfortunate turn. I’ll just have to put on a good poker face and hope everything works out I guess!

RugbyGirl1 · 12/09/2022 15:02

@EdinburghGirl1 ah that sounds fab, I love a good pillow anyway 😂 we're going to fuerturventura for a week. I'm sure I'll find something to eat!

Actually got another holiday booked in October - meant to be walking a fair bit but now wondering if sickness may destroy that plan, if I get any.... Only 5+3 and no sickness or nasuea so far.

@CDR520 your annual trip sounds amazing - good luck with it all, hope your sickness is delayed a bit!

OrangeTable · 12/09/2022 15:18

Thanks for the kind words everyone I’m still waiting for my scan, this has been the worst day ever having been bleeding and waiting for 9h :-(

CDR520 · 12/09/2022 15:18

@RugbyGirl1 same with you. I hope you have a lovely holiday in October!

RugbyGirl1 · 12/09/2022 15:30

Oh @OrangeTable I'm sorry to hear about your day! Are you in A&E? Have they said how much longer you need to wait? I hope you're ok, thoughts are with you xx

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 12/09/2022 15:32

@OrangeTable I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

Thank you to the posters re holidays! I will feed back how it goes witn fiod etc (no pun intended!) Apparently our hotel does good mocktails - although I had rather booked for the cocktails...

Laura993 · 12/09/2022 16:41

Thoughts are with you @OrangeTable

I’ve booked my first appointment today - they only gave me 11th October which seems so long away!

definitely think I’ll go for an early scan so I have something between now and then.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 12/09/2022 17:11

Mine is 31st @Laura993 - feels a long long long time.

@OrangeTable I'm so so sorry. That sounds awful experience to have

@CDR520 I’m 7 weeks and sickness is increasing here although it started much earlier with my son, so every pregnancy really is different. The best tip I heard was to drink water and eat dry crackers before you even get out of bed in the morning, definitely seems to be helping here. Where abouts in Canada do you live out of interest? It looks like such an incredible country!

@OrangeTable I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I hope you get answers soon. Thinking of you.

2bm · 12/09/2022 22:21

@OrangeTable Sorry to hear you’re being made to wait so long. Hopefully you’re home now and have some answers x

CDR520 · 12/09/2022 23:53

@Charl881 I live in Newfoundland. I’d highly recommend visiting if you ever get the chance. :)

Boyboygirl1 · 13/09/2022 01:39

Hi, I've just found out I'm pregnant with my 4th baby, 12 weeks after the birth of my 3rd. I feel overwhelmed & I don't have any of the normal pregnancy cues I've had in my last three. Not having the baby isn't an option but the reality of the Financial pressure and the thought of going through pregnancy for another 9 months is daunting. I havent told anyone like I usually would, partly because I need to get my head round it and partly because I know the reactions will be a lot different to this pregnancy so close after my last. I've had sex with my partner ONCE in three months because I still hadn't decided about what birth control to go back on , but obviously once was enough, I also have no idea how far I am since I didn't think I had even had a period just the postpartum bleed. Has anyone else had pregnancy back to back? Were there any complications?

Melusina123 · 13/09/2022 07:50

Hey everyone, and welcome to new joiners! It's been a bit dramatic here. My parents arrived from Australia on Friday, and on Saturday I suddenly had a bit of red bleeding (about 3tbsp over 3hrs I think)... So we then had to tell my parents and my partner's parents since we were supposed to all be getting together. So instead of agonising about who to tell when, the cat is out of the bag...!

I was very pessimistic about the bleeding given I've had 2 MCs already. Went down to A&E and got booked a scan for yesterday. Bleeding became brown spotting and nausea hit. Had the scan last night and there's an embryo there with a little heartbeat, bang on my dates (6+1 yesterday). And I've been prescribed progesterone now as well. No explanation for the bleeding except maybe implantation or irritated cervix.

I'm still staying quite pessimistic - last MC was after there would have been a heartbeat and I've still got brown spotting. But sometimes bleeding doesn't have to mean the worst has already happened, at least.

Mrsg2109 · 13/09/2022 08:30

I'm almost 6 weeks so due around the middle of May 2023.
My anxiety is the worst its been in years especially after having some bleeding. Its baby #1 for us so I have no idea what is considered ok and when I should worry about it. EPU won't see me until at least 6 weeks and even then only if it is bad. Midwife has said to just keep an eye on it but it's so hard trying to stay calm and not worry

raffika · 13/09/2022 10:41

Hello ladies. I hope you’re doing okay today.

I’m now 5+4 and don’t feel great - I am finding I have a lot of cramps, they feel like pulling/stretching so appear to be normal and no bleeding, but I’m finding them uncomfortable. Several times a day I have to lie on my floor at work (thankfully no one has walked in yet!) and take deep breaths until the worst passes. Is this normal? Its a first baby so I’m clueless, and I think I’ve got zero pain threshold.

I’m also feeling a bit of sickness today, but hoping it’s from eating too much at breakfast - I was hungry after one sachet of porridge yesterday but 2 sachets might have been overdoing it! On the plus side, the chronic itching I had last week has passed, I think it was a reaction to Pregnacare so on the lookout for another multi-vitamin (still taking folic acid).

I’ve booked a private scan on 28th, when I’ll be 7+5, so looking forward to that.

@OrangeTable thinking of you, I hope you got some answers yesterday. I can’t believe you were kept waiting for 9 hours!

Baby0523 · 13/09/2022 13:05

Hey, thought I'd join in. I'm 6w 2d into pregnancy with baby no. 1. Booked our first midwife in 2 weeks time for check and tests. A bit nervous as it's our 1st and it's all new and exciting!

Snowflakes2 · 13/09/2022 15:37

@OrangeTable hope you get some answers ASAP.

I took a test after getting 1-2 weeks on a clearblue on Sunday and it was negative, I done it with a mid afternoon wee and I had just been 20 minutes beforehand will this effect it at all?

Leanne053 · 13/09/2022 16:16

@Snowflakes2 I would test again tomorrow with first wee of the day

EdinburghGirl1 · 13/09/2022 16:27

@Boyboygirl1 sorry I don't have any advice about back to back pregnancies but maybe elsewhere on mumsnet.

@Melusina123 sorry you had such a dramatic day yesterday. Hope you're doing ok but must've been nice to see the baby and hear a heartbeat.

@Mrsg2109 hope you're doing ok. I know early pregnancy can cause anxiety but I know plenty of people do have bleeding and all is fine. If it keeps happening definitely push to be seen though to give you piece of mind.

@raffika I had that last night. Just lay on sofa and made sure not to have tight clothes on. Doesn't sound as bad as yours though and Feels ok today though at least. I do remember getting stretching growing pains with my first.

@Snowflakes2 yes try testing again tomorrow morning

Flowersflowers121 · 13/09/2022 16:53

Hope everyone's doing well :) I've got a 7 week scan tomorrow and am nervous but hoping everything is okay! Hopefully I'll be able to report back with good news xxxx

I will do thanks.
Just spoke to midwife and she will be booking me for an appointment in a couple weeks, she seems lovely!
It's all getting a bit real now but I won't let myself get too excited until I'm past a certain amount of weeks.
