@Boyboygirl1 sorry I don't have any advice about back to back pregnancies but maybe elsewhere on mumsnet.

@Melusina123 sorry you had such a dramatic day yesterday. Hope you're doing ok but must've been nice to see the baby and hear a heartbeat.

@Mrsg2109 hope you're doing ok. I know early pregnancy can cause anxiety but I know plenty of people do have bleeding and all is fine. If it keeps happening definitely push to be seen though to give you piece of mind.

@raffika I had that last night. Just lay on sofa and made sure not to have tight clothes on. Doesn't sound as bad as yours though and Feels ok today though at least. I do remember getting stretching growing pains with my first.

@Snowflakes2 yes try testing again tomorrow morning

Thanks for this. I hadn’t realised how much my tights or pyjama bottoms (which are loose) we’re pressing on my tummy. Sliding them down a bit when I get cramps has really helped! Simple things!

@2bm if you go on birth clubs and may 2023 and ask in there they’ll post the link. It expires after 2 days and only the admin can post it

Leanne053 · 14/09/2022 10:16

@Snowflakes2 did you get a stronger line this morning?

Flowersflowers121 · 14/09/2022 12:27

Scan went well :) measuring at 7 weeks 4 days with a strong heartbeat xxx

@Flowersflowers121 congratulations thats lovely news!

Has anyone changed their diet at all? Apart from not eating the foods not recommended during pregnancy I haven’t changed my diet much and wondering if I should lay off the chocolate or cola

bossgirl94 · 14/09/2022 14:11

@Essexgalhere like you I've just cut out what the NHS says not to eat and hoping the vitamins do their job

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 14:33

That's brilliant @Flowersflowers121

@Essexgalhere I've healthified slightly and cut down to one coffee a day. Other than that just avoiding NHS no go foods and taking my vitamins

AmericanGirl915 · 14/09/2022 14:40

Just out of curiosity, how many people here are planning on having an early scan?

First pregnancy and FTM so wondering if I'm being super naïve in having planned to wait for the 12wk scan (unless bleeding or pain showed up)? Think I'd love the reassurance from an early scan, but worried at the same time I'd somehow jinx it (cue completely irrational superstition)... I know the best decision is whatever will give me the most comfort at this time, just interested to know if most people on this thread are planning on having one?

TheBeesKnee · 14/09/2022 14:50

Essexgalhere

I have stopped drinking coffee, and only having 2 teas per day.

I am making an effort to eat dark, leafy greens in addition to my normal diet, which I think was healthy ish anyway, albeit a bit lazy.

I have got the fear about mercury and can't bring myself to eat fish, whereas before I would have a tuna pasta lunch 1-2 times per week.

AmericanGirl915

I'm going to have one at 9 weeks. I wanted one at 8 but my DP has convinced me to wait an extra week so that we can see more, and as he knows someone who can do an early scan for us, he's in charge of organising it.

Observing the baby (or not) isn't going to influence any outcome. Just like eating strawberries isn't going to give you a girl, or any other superstitions. Whatever will be, will be.

I think waiting 3 months is quite a while, which is why a lot of people get early scans if they can afford it :)

EdinburghGirl1 · 14/09/2022 14:51

@Essexgalhere no keeping diet the same and like when ttc trying to get lots of nutrients in where I can. Although now nausea is starting it might not go so well 😂 I would definitely be careful how much cola you're drinking as you're meant to keep caffeine to under 200mg per day.

@AmericanGirl915i didn't have early scan with my first and not planning to this time either. I see on here lots of people are thoigh but it's a personal choice

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 15:10

@AmericanGirl915 we have had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks, diagnosed at the 12 weeks scan, after a perfect scan at 10 weeks - so I know a scan is no guarantee.

That said, we plan to do an 8 week scan because we also know people who have found out about anembryonic pregnancies at 12 weeks - pregnancies that were never going to go anywhere - and I would rather know sooner than later if we have made it out the gate.

My mind thinks of it as (this assumes each go well) 8 weeks - we have started okay but no guarantees, 12 weeks - continuing well but no guarantees, 20 weeks - no typicalities, looking good.

RugbyGirl1 · 14/09/2022 15:29

@Essexgalhere not really changed my diet at all - I'm mostly vegan although eat cheese so usually eat a tonne of vegetables every day. I think I should up my fruit though, rarely eat any! Other than that, I hope the vitamins are doing the job. And I've pretty much cut out coffee now, just green & mint tea and water.

@AmericanGirl915 I've got an early scan booked for just over 6 weeks. In my last and only pregnancy that's where I found out it wasn't progressing as it should so to get over that hurdle in my mind will help me a little bit, mentally

Snowflakes2 · 14/09/2022 16:33

No i was very impatient and used the other one in the pack, so when I thought I had a negative it was actually a very light positive but the 2nd test was a stark negative. Iv ordered some first response ones.

I have been having awful stabbing pains above hip, my job is very active so hoping it's just a case of taking it easy.

On the diet front, just trying to eat healthy but i have zero appetite atm.

AmericanGirl915 · 14/09/2022 17:10

@TheBeesKnee @EdinburghGirl1 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl @RugbyGirl1 thank you all, this is very helpful! x

raffika · 14/09/2022 17:11

@Flowersflowers121 glad to hear everything’s went well :)

@Essexgalhere I’ve tried to improve my diet, I have a busy job and for too long I’ve used it as an excuse to eat sh*te. In an effort to start as I mean to go on I’ve started having proper meals, although still a bit of chocolate, Pepsi Max and crisps! Everythibg in moderation and all that.

@AmericanGirl915 I’m having a scan in 2 weeks, at 7w5d, just because I’m super impatient! We’ve not told parents yet, and we want to have that scan and know things are okay before we tell them (whilst fully appreciating things can change after that point).

TisforTucan · 15/09/2022 14:04

Is anyone else super tired? I've got two little ones, one at home with me and I'm so tired. Husband works from home so he can help but I keep falling asleep. I feel like a super shit mum right now 😓

tryingtryinggone · 15/09/2022 14:20

@TisforTucan yes, super tired and also super nauseas. My hormones are clearly all over the place and I’ve been crying a lot about what an awful mum I am being for my DD because she’s getting nothing from me right now as I have 0 energy. Thankfully DH is picking up all the slack but that won’t be possible next week when he’s working so I’m dreading it!

bossgirl94 · 15/09/2022 14:49

@TisforTucan @tryingtryinggone I don't even have any children and I'm absolutely exhausted. My whole sleeping pattern has changed. I go to bed at 9pm now and get up around 5.30/6am. I used to go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7

TisforTucan · 15/09/2022 15:30

@tryingtryinggone This is me, DS is 2 and I feel so awful I'm not taking him out. I've got hyperemesis again, feels worse than when I had it with him and his brother but I'm so tired I keep falling asleep. I've got normality with toddler group starting again next week hoping it gives me a kick up the bum.

@bossgirl94 Its rough, im a night owl but I've been going to bed at 10pm and still I'm falling asleep in the morning 😭 It makes you feel proper rubbish all day.

TheBeesKnee · 15/09/2022 15:46

@TisforTucan yes, I'm shattered! I'm working from home, so I don't know how I would have coped with going in to the office if I had to. I have a meeting in 15 minutes and I just want a nap 😭

Mummybearto3bg · 15/09/2022 18:07

Hello everyone, congratulations on your positives 😊 I've just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant today. Unexpected but really happy!

Is there a 'Due May 2023' thread?
RugbyGirl1 · 15/09/2022 18:24

Hey @Mummybearto3bg congrats!

Has anyone told their work yet? If not, when do you plan to tell them?

raffika · 15/09/2022 19:58

@Mummybearto3bg Congratulations!

@RugbyGirl1 I've got a private scan on 28th. I'm off work that week, but planning to tell work when I go back on 3rd October, when I'll be 8w3d. My reasons for telling them early are two fold - 1) health and safety, linked to the risky nature of some of the people we come into contact with and 2) there are certain things I'm not going to be able to take on and potentially some things I'll have to offload, as they won't be finished before I go off, and I want to give them time to figure out a succession plan.

bossgirl94 · 15/09/2022 20:52

@RugbyGirl1 I have told my line manager but am only 6 weeks. I work on a rota and my boss was sorting it out for the rest of the year and given I'm struggling with morning sickness and tiredness I wanted to ask for specific shifts and make sure I get the flexibility I might need
