I self referred over two weeks ago and they called me immediately (put my birthday as 2022 🤦🏻‍♀️) said I would get a letter in 7-10 days but haven’t had it yet…

isitaline97 · 31/08/2022 15:37

It's good to hear others are on the self referral too. I guess I'll just wait now! I didn't realise you had to be 6 weeks until you can self refer 🤦‍♀️ I'm 4.5 but oh well it's done now 😂😂

@bossgirl94 I had a similar thing a few days ago! Try not to worry, if it's quite painful I'd ring the doctors for reassurance but It's probably nothing to worry about ❤️

sunshine1987 · 31/08/2022 15:46

@isitaline97 you dont, I self referred at just under 5 weeks and that was no issue

RugbyGirl1 · 31/08/2022 16:30

I've got hardly any symptoms atm, only 3+5... No sore boops, very little cramping which now seems to have stopped / be intermittent.... Should I be worried or make the most of it?? 😂

@2bm I've been on progesterone since 2DPO... I swear that's what's helped with the BFP as my bloods were always on the low / borderline side! Bit messy but worth it

Melusina123 · 31/08/2022 16:56

@RugbyGirl1 serious answer to a joking question nausea seems to only be associated with miscarriage risk after about the 8th week of pregnancy expectingscience.com/2016/03/11/nausea-and-the-risk-of-miscarriage-how-much-does-morning-sickness-lower-your-risk/ .

So ideally you want to be nauseous by then... but being nauseous before then is just pointless suffering. 😂

Symptoms-wise I've got acid reflux, going to the loo often and very tired. But none of this is super our of the ordinary for me, so...

dobby13 · 31/08/2022 17:49

@Melusina123 - oh god - the acid reflux, I hadn't even mentioned the acid reflux 😭 Rennies are my best friend right now.

Meganlouise97 · 31/08/2022 17:58

Hi everyone, please can I join too? Bit of a shock and despite being on the pill, I tested positive on Monday with clear blue telling me I'm 2-3 weeks even though a due date calculator predicts my due date to be May 2nd which puts me around 6 weeks. This will be baby #1 and I'm so clueless and confused. When do I need to contact the doctor? I've read that some women have been told to wait until 8 weeks to self refer?

BellaBella38 · 31/08/2022 18:06

@Meganlouise97 Congratulations 😁 Every trust has their own way of doing things, so your best bet is to Google your local hospital + midwifery services and that should point you in the right direction. Apart from that it's just grab yourself a pregnancy vitamin and quit the booze! Do contact your GP if you're on any regular medications which might need changing/adjusting, or if you have any family history of spina bifida or cleft palette. Good luck!

RugbyGirl1 · 31/08/2022 18:19

@Melusina123 haha thanks for that, interesting read! Other articles online suggests it tends to kick in around week 5 sooooo, something to look forward to! It seems I tested positive quite early so perhaps it feels like I'm behind but not really.

Welcome @Meganlouise97 congratulations! That must have been quite a shock!

Sunshine0987 · 31/08/2022 22:12

Hope everyone's doing OK - I'm nearly at 5 weeks and I feel like crap. Like I've got some kind of mild flu but with bloating. I can't even get to sleep when I try and nap in the afternoon now so I'm like a bit of a zombie

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 09:44

Hi everyone can I join. I got my bfp yesterday and 4 weeks today with my second although will be my DP first. I had thought I was out this month as no real symptoms and bfn at 10dpo but here we are. The nausea has kicked in though which I had first time round too. I was never sick just felt a bit blah and kinda hungover lol.

@Meganlouise97 I just self referred today and got both my first midwife and scan appointment on the phone. Starting to sink in a little more now

H1994 · 01/09/2022 09:47

Hi! Can I join this? I'm due mid May... got my BFP for baby No.1 yesterday... I'm 3 weeks and 2 days 💕🌟

bossgirl94 · 01/09/2022 10:32

Congratulations @EdinburghGirl1 and @H1994

Fingers crossed we all stick 🤞🏼

isitaline97 · 01/09/2022 10:45

@sunshine1987 that's good, I was worried I might get a telling off 😂

Welcome to the new BFPs joining! Hope your all doing well!

H1994 · 01/09/2022 10:48

@bossgirl94 yes, definitely - I've already got a simmering worry, but trying to just do what I can to keep healthy and enjoy it! xxx

sunshine1987 · 01/09/2022 10:55

@RugbyGirl1 its also worth saying though that you can have no nausea and baby be absolutely fine. Articles like that used to really upset me during my first pregnancy as I so desperately felt that without feeling sick something was wrong and there wasn’t

Melusina123 · 01/09/2022 11:05

@sunshine1987 @RugbyGirl1 completely agree. I had a colleague who had terrible vomiting and still had a MC. Last time I had (mildish) nausea, no spotting or bad cramps, and still MC'd at 8 weeks - likelihood of that was apparently like 3%.

I am very data driven and like having the statistics because it makes me feel like I'm at least as informed as I can be even if there's nothing I can do about it, but ultimately every pregnancy is different and you never know which side of the odds you'll end up on. (But overall the odds are that everything will be fine.)

Welcome and congrats @EdinburghGirl1 @H1994 and other new joiners! H1994, wow that's an early BFP! I got mine at 3w4d and it already feels like ages.

H1994 · 01/09/2022 11:08

@Melusina123 hello! Yes, I was about 9/10dpo yesterday... digital confirmed this morning... feels very surreal 🙈 and ahh that's so lovely, how far along are you now?

bellaolive · 01/09/2022 11:13

Hi everyone, just checking in - will be 5w tomorrow...guilty of still testing every other day with frer to check line progression (hope I'm not the only one 😅)

Mildly tender boobs, not feeling nauseous (yet!) - didn't hit me until around 8 weeks with my first, and feeling pretty tired all the time already!

Self-referred and weirdly got a letter through for my 12 week scan already, but no details of booking appt or bloods yet! Seems every hospital/midwifery team operates differently!

Hope everyone's doing well 🥰

Melusina123 · 01/09/2022 11:20

@H1994 first hint of a very faint line at 3w3d (10DPO) on an IC, clearer the next day, then did a FRER at 12DPO which was a strong line. Now 4+4. I think it is weird when you test so early because you have no particular symptoms, no missed AF yet, and of course the odds of a CP are higher in wk3 and 4, whereas if you just didn't test you'd probably not know it had happened.

I had come around to only testing once AF was late (which I still think is probs more sensible) but then also if you test early and it's negative then you can start to think about next month, whereas the waiting/symptom spotting was a killer for me. This time I just sort of had a feeling and I figured if I tested either I'd be right or I'd be able to stop obsessing over it.

I'm trying not to do anything to stress myself out, so no line progression or CB digital weeks tests for me! Every time I'm tempted to test I just go look at the positive FRER I already have instead. I'm not saying I won't break at some point, but for now I'm being strong. 💪

Can I ask where everyone is in the country and how you picked your maternity provider (if you had options)? I'm in London, so had a few choices. Had a few bad experiences with my nearest hospital, so going with one a little bit further away but with a better reputation and vibe.

RugbyGirl1 · 01/09/2022 11:26

Welcome @EdinburghGirl1 and @H1994 lovely to see you've joined us 🥳

@Melusina123 I thought you could pick the hospital you want to give birth in (if not a home birth) regardless of where your midwife unit is? I'm right on the edge of a county so I think I'll be referred to a unit miles away but I have at least two hospitals a lot closer! I'm based in the Cotswolds 😊

EdinburghGirl1 · 01/09/2022 11:46

Thanks @RugbyGirl1

I think everyone and every pregnancy can be totally different.

@Melusina123 I only got my bfp on day AF was due so at least I am at the 4 week mark straight away. I'm not doing any more tests either as I have a good line and just trying to relax and enjoy it all. Saving my money for all the baby things I need to buy. As my name says I'm in Edinburgh and there's only really one option. It's quite close by to me and I had my DD there 5 years ago so happy with that

H1994 · 01/09/2022 11:51

@Melusina123 I definitely think that's a good way of going about it.

I'm in West Sussex, so also had a few to choose from... heard a few bad experiences in one hospital, so have chosen one I feel more comfortable with :)

AmericanGirl915 · 01/09/2022 12:06

@Melusina123 I'm in London as well, just self-referred to the nearest which had overall good marks. But as a first-timer and (as I'm sure you can tell from my username) an expat this is all unchartered territory for me!

@EdinburghGirl1 congrats! Silently kept tags on your progress in the TTC May group as we had the same ovulation day 🎉

bossgirl94 · 01/09/2022 12:09

I'm in Kent but referred myself to one in London as it was the best I could find
