@RugbyGirl1 I'm emetophobic too and really feeling the fear right now!
Something that's really helped is that I called my GP and explained the situation, and she prescribed some anti-emetic tablets - not to be used every day, but to have on hand in case they're needed! Might be worth a look :)

rubygiz · 30/08/2022 20:12

I contacted my gp today but I am not required to see him which I found strange went in to the surgery filled in a form met my midwife, now it's actually sinking in I am pregnant after the thought it would never happen! I am booked for my first appt 26/09 🥰

RugbyGirl1 · 30/08/2022 20:42

@calipoppy that's a good way of thinking of it 😊

Wow sickness has kicked in for some of you earlier than I was expecting - I've not been pregnant at that stage before so this is all new to me! @hulahoopqueen thanks for the tip, I'll ring my GP in the next week or two if I'm still get positives and no bleeding / pain etc. Hopefully I can get some meds too.

@rubygiz must be such a good feeling to get the appointment booked in!

rubygiz · 30/08/2022 20:46

@RugbyGirl1 I don't think it's quite sunk in yet! I was on this site for years trying, it was me, I gave up as my ex was no good for me divorced him been with my new partner 7 months and I get pregnant my parents will be shocked but over the moon

Leanne053 · 30/08/2022 20:47

Congratulations to everyone 😀
For me I just rang my GP when I found out which was 4+1 and they passed my details onto midwife who rang me today at 5+4 and I'm booked in to see her on 19/09 which will be just over 8 weeks. It's the 12 week scan I'm so desperate for so I can't finally tell family and friends!!

Flowersflowers121 · 30/08/2022 20:53

@Leanne053 my booking in appointment is on the 19th too :) yesss, the 12 week scan can't come soon enough haha

Has anyone else told anyone yet?

Interesting how everyone is different. I rang my GP and they told me to self refer myself to wherever I want to have all my appointments so I just looked up the best trust nearby and have put my name down for a London hospital. They said they'd get back to me within 10 days with an appointment slot

2bm · 30/08/2022 22:44

Mind if I join? Positive test last week, currently 4+2 with 7th May as due date.

This will be dc3 if it works out. We had 3 mcs trying to have dc2 so not that optimistic but trying not to be totally pessimistic. Fortunately, as I ended up under the care of a recurrent miscarriage clinic last time, I’ve been able to self-refer there and they’ve put me straight into the same meds I had for my pregnancy with dc2.

No symptoms at the moment, the odd sore boob (if I poke and prod enough!) and some cramps/pulling feelings every now and again but not much so it doesn’t even feel real yet.

ZeppyLoo · 31/08/2022 06:07

@Flowersflowers121 yes we’ve told people (both sets of parents and both of our sisters). We are going on holiday on Friday with my family and it would have been obvious with me not drinking and avoiding certain foods, so thought we’d just tell. Will probably wait to tell other people until the scan though!

isitaline97 · 31/08/2022 09:23

How has everyone got In touch with midwives so quickly? I contacted my GP who gave me a website to go on for a self referral to midwife services. It says if I haven't heard back in 3 weeks I need to ring them which doesn't give me much hope 😂 has anyone else done it this way? It's with Lancashire and south Cumbria maternity services.

RugbyGirl1 · 31/08/2022 09:33

Hi @isitaline97 my area say I can't self refer until at least 6 weeks pregnant so I think it just varies massively on the area you live in! I'm not sure I get how it works, either, do you refer to your CCG / country NHS services or your local hospital? I live right on the edge of a county, with two nearest hospitals in 2 different other counties!

RugbyGirl1 · 31/08/2022 09:43

@rubygiz if it's meant to be it's meant to be! Perhaps your body / subconscious knew your ex was no good and now you're relaxed with your new partner it's happened 😊

@Flowersflowers121 nope, not going to tell anyone until I have an early scan or two, just to be sure! Don't want to get people's hopes up 😂 my mum has been asking for years about grandkids.... Unhelpfully at times!

CockalierMum · 31/08/2022 10:07

Hope you don't mind me joining, I found out I was pregnant yesterday. Currently 4+3 and due 7th May. Not sure how to go about referring myself to a midwife, had a look at my GP online but there's nothing to say what I should do. We only started properly trying this month after coming off the pill a few months ago and got pregnant straight away. I feel like it's going to be a long eight weeks until I can tell people though!

Sunshine0987 · 31/08/2022 10:44

Wow I can't believe how different it is to get an appointment in each area 😮 I called my GP last week and the receptionist asked me how many weeks I thought I was then booked it straight in with a midwife at the end of September. Hope you all get the calls you're waiting for to book everything in soon!

RugbyGirl1 · 31/08/2022 11:24

Hi @2bm I'm very sorry to hear about your previous losses - hope this one is a sticky bean for you! What meds are you on? I also have no symptoms and was starting to worry in case this is a bad thing but it's still so early (I'm only 3+5)? Testing every day to check it's still real atm, can't quite believe it...

dobby13 · 31/08/2022 12:00

I got this after self referring:

Thank you very much for sending us your maternity self-referral form. The midwives will be in contact around the 8th week (22/09/2022) of your pregnancy to arrange a suitable time and location to complete your booking appointment with you. If you have not heard from us by the time you are 10 weeks (06/10/2022) pregnant, please do get in touch with us.

Nothing through the GP - they just told me to self refer. It's weird how different it is for everyone!

noorii · 31/08/2022 12:04

I was told to self refer online. They said once I filled out the form I would hear back within 2 weeks, that was last Tuesday (23rd) I heard back last Thursday (25th) with a date for my booking appointment (22nd Sept). This was with Saint Mary's Manchester. I think varies from place to place.

bellaolive · 31/08/2022 12:25

Hi ladies, happy to be joining this thread! Currently 4w5d with baby #2 🥰💗💙

2bm · 31/08/2022 12:50

@RugbyGirl1 I’m picking them up today. I’ll be on progesterone, higher dose folic acid, vitamin d (which I’ve been taking since we started ttc) and I take low dose aspirin although that’s not prescribed, I just take that because I read so much about it last time working for people after losses. It might not have had anything to do with me being successful with dc2 but I’m going to do exactly the same.
I know how you feel about not believing it’s real. Although I’ve stopped testing because I can’t handle how much I’ll lose my mind if the line is even slightly lighter! I’ll try another digi on Saturday and hopefully will see 3+ 🤞

Melusina123 · 31/08/2022 13:59

Last time I self-referred I got a text a few days later with a booking appointment date at about 10w, and a letter the following week with booking appt date confirmed and 12w scan date. This is with a medium-sized London trust. All very efficient!

I've self-referred again now (yesterday) but not expecting to hear anything til next week. Not a lot of urgency given I'm 4w3d.

sunshine1987 · 31/08/2022 14:20

@isitaline97 i self referred, I sent the form off last Thursday and midwife called me yesterday to book my booking in appointment with her, was super quick

sunshine1987 · 31/08/2022 14:23

Congratulations to everyone joining us, hope you’re all doing ok 💗

ZeppyLoo · 31/08/2022 14:36

I didn’t realise it was so different everywhere. I rang my GP and they made me an appointment with the midwife who does clinics at the surgery two days a week. I’ll only be 7 weeks at the appointment but they were fine with booking that!

bossgirl94 · 31/08/2022 14:43

Guys I have period pain like cramps and it's worrying me 😩

catc7 · 31/08/2022 15:02

@bossgirl94 I had the same thing for a week. I went to EPU yesterday and all was fine. I now think it was implantation cramping as it has calmed down a lot in the last couple of days now I’ve gone over 5 weeks. Got my anxiety worked up over nothing! Latest problem is the sickness!
