@ancienthouse aww, how do you feel about her self weaning? I read on good old Google that some toddlers self wean at 4 or 5 months pregnancy when the milk starts to dry up but seems like your lo has already noticed a change.

@Margo34 snap, mine is also 22m and also a boob fiend! Since I got my bfp he is asking for breastmilk a lot more that even DH noticed. He can get away with it while I'm at home during the summer break but once I'm back to work he will have to get used to breastmilk only in the evenings. Do your nipples hurt a lot when your lo feeds? It's the only way I realised that I have sore boobs when he latches on. Hope your lo goes easy on you :)

Hi everyone
Is anyone else struggling with extreme exhaustion? I’m 6+3 and whenever I have childcare for my 3 year old I literally spend the entire day in bed. When I’m looking after her I have to rely on watching films or nap while she’s playing, I just can’t keep myself awake. Luckily I’m on summer holidays so I can rest, but I’m finding it so unmanageable even so. I had Covid about 6 weeks ago and I’m getting a bit worried that this might be long covid? It just feels so extreme.

Chocolat · 16/08/2022 16:05

@ancienthouse thanks that’s good to know that it gets better! Can’t imagine work and a DD. This is my first pregnancy 😅

@Longbin haha that sounds like a wise idea, I would love to take some days off right now but feel things will only get worse in the next few weeks

Longbin · 16/08/2022 16:14

@Chocolat I felt worse between 8-10 weeks last time, so I'm taking a day off every couple of weeks for the next 6 weeks

Maple90 · 16/08/2022 16:21

@Longbin - found it! Thank you 😊

Lapin387 · 16/08/2022 17:51

@Margo34 my 2.5 year old seems to want to up my supply too. She’s waking all night demanding it and getting really cross when I say not til morning (feeding to sleep and then in the morning only). I really hope she weans herself as my supply drops but no signs of that happening yet. I am totally ready to stop with her, especially as nipples so tender. I certainly don’t want to tandem feed, although I really respect those who do.

Skylark1990 · 16/08/2022 18:30

@Margo34 @Tubbytele @ancienthouse so nice that we are all still breastfeeding in some shape or form! I didn't expect many others to be. Anyone else?

My DD has also started waking more in the night again although we only do one feed at bedtime now so she doesn't wake for milk as such, although she still gives it a try in the morning! So she's in with us half the night on average ATM. We had always co slept but she has a floor bed in her room now and we recently made the change of her in there on her own at least at the start of the night, and then one of us joins her or she comes in with us.

@Margo34 how are you, have you stopped spotting? I was worried the bf was affecting my pregncies so after 3 losses I have cut down a lot. It can lower progesterone and spotting can be a sign of low progesterone, but you're taking the progesterone supplements now aren't you as well? And so many people are completely fine bf all through pregnancy so it seems quite unclear whether / when it could have an affect. Hope you're doing ok ! X

Skylark1990 · 16/08/2022 18:33

@Lapin387 i see you are too!

I'm wondering if my supply has dropped a lot already as DD doesn't seem to get much when she feeds anymore. I don't feel a let down either. Do you guys?

She's 23 mo and I had wanted to make it till she was 2 so I'll be happy if we continue to then. She still loves it so much 🥰

Skylark1990 · 16/08/2022 18:36

On another note I definitely have some kind of ear issue. Maybe an infection, will try to see a doctor tomorrow. It's been so sore! And I feel quite run down after work, had to go into the office today and it's much harder with the travel etc than working from home. Just hoping this ear isn't a full on infection as so so nervous to take antibiotics this early on, I know they're meant to be safe but I'm scared it'll affect things esp as my body in the past hasn't hung on to the pregnancies recently 😩

And @Chocolat yes it's a crime we have to work during the first and third tri in my opinion... Second tri is ok but that's it 😅

Skylark1990 · 16/08/2022 18:37

Glad to hear it's not just me bickering with OH 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I'm sure it's the hormones...

My nausea has been pretty fine today which slightly worries me but may also be because I've eaten LOADS. I haven't had like full aversions kick in yet.

Ok that's lots of messages from me haha just catching up after a long day....

Has anyone else had to take antibiotics in early pregnancy?? X

Tubbytele · 16/08/2022 18:42

@Lapin387 I'm with you on hoping that my lo will wean off of breastmilk as nipples are so sore when he latches on atm. But he wants more than ever. I've tried giving him some water in the night as it's been so hot but hasn't changed how much breastmilk he wants.

@Skylark1990 I too was worried about BF while pregnant and hoping there aren't any negative consequences but so far seems to be ok. My DS will be 2 at the end of Sept so I'm hoping to also make it by then and by the looks of it I don't think he's going to be giving up very soon!

Springblooms08 · 16/08/2022 18:47

@Skylark1990 sorry to hear about your ear infection. Just to reassure you, I’m on long term high dose antibiotics for a chronic UTI - I see a specialist and he has reassured me that there is no harm in pregnancy as long as your antibiotics are pregnancy safe. He has said that an infection is what you should be worried about, not antibiotics. I won’t lie, I do find it worrying taking such a high dose but I have no choice and I know it’s better for me and the developing baby to take them!

Springblooms08 · 16/08/2022 18:51

@Skylark1990 sorry your ear issue, just saw you’ve said it might not be an infection x

Skylark1990 · 16/08/2022 18:59

Thank you @Springblooms08 that's reassuring. Sorry to hear you need to be on them. have you heard of d-mannose for recurrent uti?? It's amazing. I'll speak to doctor tomorrow and if it's an infection I'll take the antibiotics but hoping I could do drops instead. You're right tho, infection is worse than antibiotics!

@Tubbytele that's lovely, our LOs are close in age! For majority of people breastfeeding during pregnancy is totally fine 🥰

alwaysseeingstars · 16/08/2022 19:03

@Springblooms08 @Skylark1990 I'm also on long term antibiotics for an infection & have been told it's perfectly safe - all my meds have to be approved by an obstetrician specialising in medicines since I started ttc so I bloody hope she knows what she's doing 😂

AliceinSlumberland · 16/08/2022 19:06

Guys it’s @SkeletonSkins but I’ve name changed :) for various reasons but mostly because I think this one is more accurate in my current state 😂😂

AliceinSlumberland · 16/08/2022 19:09

@Skylark1990 ahhh hope you get your ear sorted, ear pain is really so sore.

Ive been googling whether metformin is safe to take in pregnancy, as I took it to conceive but it seems like there’s a lot of benefits to continuing it. Hoping my doctor doesn’t try to take me off it as they can do I think…

4w4 days for me and my boobs are sorrrrreee today!

Springblooms08 · 16/08/2022 19:11

@Skylark1990 yes fingers crossed it’ll sort itself out with some drops :) I have heard of d-mannose and definitely might be an option for me in the future. At the moment I have an embedded infection, so really need the antibiotics for that unfortunately.

thanks for sharing that @alwaysseeingstars , it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one. Definitely, specialists have decades of experience in this so I fully trust them.

GeorgiePorge · 16/08/2022 19:54

Hi all,
New joiner here!
I've been lurking for a week or two hoping for a bfp... and had my faint line today so fingers crossed its a sticky one!
I've got an 11month old boy already so slightly panicked about 2 under two... any words of reassurance are very welcome!

Congratulations to all of you and wishing you happy and healthy early pregnancies!

Tropicana1 · 16/08/2022 19:59

@Skylark1990 I was really unwell in the early stages of my last pregnancy, in hospital on IV antibiotics for a week and all was ok (hope that reassures you although quite an extreme example 😂)

lookslikeabombhitit · 16/08/2022 20:06

I'd like to tentatively join please! 😊 Had a chemical last month but got a brand new bfp on Sunday. Last LMP was 10/07 and ovulated 30/07 so no idea what I am tbh. My cycles vary in length so who knows. 😂

I have 3 other DC and am just nervous about my age this time around, especially after last month's chemical. I tested because I was craving cordial so badly and my nose was blocked. I've had pregnancy rhinitis with my 3DC so it's usually my first tell. Only other symptoms are my appetite has disappeared and I've gone off black coffee.

Still bf my youngest who is 3 in October. He only has one very short feed before bed now though. My 2 eldest weaned themselves during pregnancy by about 24 weeks so thought I'd mention that to reassure those out there still feeding that they can self wean once the effort to get anything is too much. X

Tubbytele · 16/08/2022 20:09

Thanks @lookslikeabombhitit that's really encouraging about the self weaning.

MediaMinion · 16/08/2022 21:15

Hi everyone, hope you've all had good days today? I got a start of a dye stealer today around dpo 20 and 5 weeks since the start of my last cycle. But I have spent all day with pretty intense cramps and now the spotting has come back. I'm really worried that it's the beginning of the end again. Has anyone had a painful cramping day followed by spotting and it ended up being fine? It feels like the cramping has caused the spotting but then that would probably be bad news I suppose. I'm not sure if I should be clinging on to hope or preparing myself.

Margo34 · 16/08/2022 22:22

@Skylark1990 thank you, my spotting does seem to have settled down and pretty much stopped this evening, thankfully. I also wondered whether BF has contributed to my recent losses, I did so much reading around BF in pregnancy, fell down an internet rabbit hole! I started progesterone when I started spotting so I do think it's helped in my situation. Who knows! My jobshare is one of those women that has had no problem BF through a pregnancy. We would have been due within a week or 2 of each other had I not MC 😔 Qué Sera.

AliceinSlumberland · 17/08/2022 07:34

Welcome @lookslikeabombhitit, and congratulations! I ovulated on the 29th Jan I think and I’m 4 weeks 5 days today, not sure if that helps?

@Margo34 glad to hear the spotting has settled down.

My sleep is definitely being affected, I’m wanting to sleep for longer but waking up a lot during thst time. Also apparently I now can’t make it through the night without a wee? I expected that when very pregnant but this early?!
