Feeling nauseous this morning, but isn't it too early for morning sickness? I'm 4wks 5 days.
Had a cold pan au chocolat and went back to sleep which helped. I think lots of small meals will be helpful.

alwaysseeingstars · 22/08/2022 09:42

@MamaOh I'm so sorry for all the pain you've been through, but I truly hope this one is your time 😘
@chillichillioil how far along are you? Please try not to worry, it's wonderful that they saw a heartbeat! xx
Was so ridiculously tired over this weekend, I honestly felt like I'd been out clubbing for about 3 days straight! Hoping my brain switches on soon...

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 09:50

@alwaysseeingstars I thought I was 6+2, but they dated me 4+6 with a 1.70mm embryo. I'm just worried it's not progressing properly as I know I can't be 4+6 as that's when I got my positive test. Hate this waiting! Xxx

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 09:56

Thanks @MamaOh I'm so sorry you hurt your arm, that sounds nasty!! And yes I was worried about the antibiotics but not much I could do about it and doctor reassured me it would be safe.

@Wouldloveanother I have done yoga for years too, have done a couple of sessions since finding out pregnant but I've just felt too tired / sick and also a bit anxious about doing it even tho I know it would almost certainly be fine. I'm also going to book myself into a nice prenatal yoga course as soon as I'm in second trimester 🤞☺️ can't wait and hoping to meet some other local expecting mums that way too. Gosh so jealous you live by the sea! When I went swimming it helped with the nausea but reckon I'll be too nervous to go now for a while since I got the infection 😥 so annoying as I love swimming.

I'm also feeling quite rough and also a bit down and anxious about everything working out. In my first trimester with DD I actually got a bit depressed for a few weeks, I am pretty sure I had some kind of antenatal depression but luckily only lasted a few weeks. I think it was the hormones but also probably all the spewing and just generally feeling crap. Anyway I'm glad I'm feeling nauseous as hopefully a good sign but equally it's hard and I have no motivation to do anything. I've just rebooked our early scan for next week as opposed to this week, felt 8+1 better than 7+1 for various reasons, so I think I'm going to try to just not think about the pregnancy for a few days and do stuff that will hopefully lift my mood.

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 09:58

@chillichillioil so sorry to hear the scan wasn't the news you wanted, it's so hard to be in the ambiguous limbo of not being sure what's happening. A heartbeat is a good sign though! Have faith, my fingers are crossed for you xx

@Chocolat sorry to hear you've had a bit of bleeding. I'm sure epau would see you. Hope it has stopped now and sending lots of positive vibes x

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 09:59

@chillichillioil if you were 4+6 the embryo wouldn't have a heartbeat yet so surely this can't be right?? That doesn't make sense to me if the bean had a heartbeat x

@Skylark1990 I know, I did think this, but she's adamant the embryo only measured at 4+6 (even though I told her it can't be possible) it does look tiny have attached the photo. She did also say they can catch up sometimes but didn't sound optimistic.

@MamaOh I know there's a big possibility it's not progressing properly so I've just gotta try not think about it even though it's impossible!

Hope you're getting along ok! Xxx

@chillichillioil honestly I think she's wrong, was it a private place or hospital? At 4+6 you wouldn't see anything - maaaybe a yolk sac but almost certainly not an embryo - I mean I'm not a medical expert so if someone is and wants to correct me please do but this is my understanding! But @Sunnyxo and I had scans at 5 weeks and we could only see the yolk sac not embryo at all but they didn't say this was an issue in fact the hospital was glad of what they saw and said yolk sac visible at 5 weeks v good sign! I hope all goes well - please do take heart, I don't think what she said makes sense at all.

This picture looks similar to the photo I got at 6+2 - that pregnancy sadly did end in mc but they said it matched my dates and were happy when we saw the embryo and the hb, they were very optimistic and didn't think I'd lose it. x

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 10:51

For those on progesterone... bit of a funny/gross question haha... I have started having spots/ pimples on my bum!! Whaaat... does anyone else have this? They're quite sore :( I know that sometimes if you have the contraceptive injection this can happen so I'm assuming it's to do with the progesterone but it is just an incredibly undesirable side effect.

I would say TMI here but I have resolved not to say TMI as honestly I don't think any of us care if we share slightly intimate stuff - that's what this board is for right?! x

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 10:56

@Skylark1990 it was window to the womb so private, it's reassuring to hear your story on this. Did you have an internal scan when you were 5 weeks?

I kind of wish I didn't do the early scan now as I am going absolutely mental worrying about it. So strange how I spent a year worrying about getting pregnant and now it's happened I'm even more worried, typical!

Did you manage to move your scan a week later? Xxx

Tropicana1 · 22/08/2022 11:10

@chillichillioil sorry you're measuring behind, fingers crossed everything progresses ok at your next scan - I'm surprised they think they can see a heartbeat at 4+6? Surely you're further along than that as you think if they can see the heartbeat

Tropicana1 · 22/08/2022 11:13

@chillichillioil just seen @Skylark1990 comments too - with my first pregnancy I had an early scan at the 6 week mark and they could only just see a heartbeat then - the EPUs wouldn't normally scan at 4+6 for viability because they wouldn't expect to see a heartbeat even if there was one!

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 11:20

@Tropicana1 I know this is what's confusing me. This is why I'm worried as maybe the embryo isn't developing properly as it is 6 weeks but it's not growing as it should. She said it's measuring 1.70mm as that's the size of a 4+6 embryo. Xx

Sunnyxo · 22/08/2022 11:22

@chillichillioil sorry you're measuring behind, as @Skylark1990 mentioned they usually only see the yolk sac at 5 weeks and only sometimes a hb and fetal pole. Mine was internal and through the nhs, they were happy with what they saw which was just the yolk sac. I know it must be really stressful waiting so may be worth reaching out to your doctor for a referral for a scan at your EPU for a second opinion, and mention it's giving you a lot of anxiety not knowing, I'm sure they would be happy to refer. Some EPU's allow self refer too, so have a look as then you can just show up there and get a scan, although it's usually a bit of a wait (2-3 hours)

@chillichillioil I had a scan on Saturday and I was measuring 7 days behind, dating me 5 weeks and not 6. She could only see the pregnancy sac and nothing more, have to go back in 2 weeks. She said nothing to worry about and all is as it should be for 5 weeks pregnant but it means I got my 3+ and dye stealer before I was 4 weeks pregnant which is what has confused me the most! Such good news that they saw the heartbeat for your baba just feels awful having to wait!! When do you go back? X

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 11:35

@Sunnyxo hi lovely. I'm glad I posted as I do feel slightly reassured that you & @Skylark1990 had internal scans and they told you everything was ok without seeing the embryo. Have you had any scans since? I have my initial midwife appointment next week so I think I'll mention it to her & see what she says. Xxx

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 11:35

@chillichillioil It was an internal scan for me, yes.

I found this from Healthline: Hearing a baby's heartbeat for the first time is an exciting milestone for new parents-to-be. A fetal heartbeat may first be detected by a vaginal ultrasound as early as 5 1/2 to 6 weeks after gestation.

So if you were only 4+6 I highly doubt they would be able to see/hear it.

I know it's scary though - any seed of doubt can throw us. These early scans can also be a bit off with measurements so hopefully that eases your mind. Agree with @Sunnyxo maybe get in touch with your local EPAU and explain you are feeling anxious. 10 days is a long time to wait before going back! xxx

Tropicana1 · 22/08/2022 11:36

@chillichillioil not trying to question her but I wonder if maybe she got her measurements/ scan wrong? Do they expect you to pay for the follow up scan too or is it included in the original price?
See if you can get an EPU scan on the nhs to confirm her measurements because it sounds quite odd to me!
From what I gather a heartbeat or a foetal pole wouldn't be seen in a 4 week scan just a gestational sac, it only becomes a foetal pole around the 6 week mark?
Could you even just ring the epu and say you think you're 6+ weeks but have been scanned as having a foetal pole with a heartbeat but dated at 4+3 and does that sound right

Skylark1990 · 22/08/2022 11:37

Oh and I have not had a rescan yet but have just confirmed I'll go in next Thursday when I'll be 8 weeks x

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 11:39

@Emeal123 Hello love, sorry you had the same outcome with this. I'm the same I know when I ovulated so I can't be 10 days behind. @Skylark1990 @Sunnyxo mentioned they didn't see anything at 5 weeks and the NHS said that's normal, so hopefully all is as it should be for us. Im going back on the 1st so will let you know what the outcome is. Have you got another one booked? Did you go private or NHS? Xx

Sunnyxo · 22/08/2022 11:40

@chillichillioil that'll be good to mention to your midwife and less time to wait.
No scans since, that scan was an early one because I panicked when I had a bit of a bleed. My next scan is Thursday, which is my first properly booked in reassurance scan at 8 weeks with Tommys xx

DBS94 · 22/08/2022 11:40

I might be picking this up wrong but when you go for an early scan do they date you from first day of last period or from ovulation? From first day of last period I'm 6+3 and planning on going for a private scan at 8 weeks but now I'm worried it'll be put back in dating. Morning sickness has really hit this week so assuming I must be around the 6 week mark x

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 11:44

@Skylark1990 mine is next Thursday too, but I might just call EPU and see what they say as I really don't want to wait that long. 8 weeks is a good time to go, you'll hopefully see quite a lot this time round! You'll have to post your scan piccy so we can see it 🥰

@Tropicana1 yes I think I'll call them up & ask their opinion and see what they say, can't harm can it! Have you had an early scan for this one?Xx

chillichillioil · 22/08/2022 11:45

@DBS94 they date you from the first day of your last period. If you know when you ovulated then you should be on track for 8 weeks xxx
