@chillichillioil wl definitely keep you posted! I don't blame you wanting another one, it's such a long wait till 12 weeks! 😅Xx

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 19:00

@B1993 sorry loads of typos in that message! Hopefully you get my drift haha. I also take extra vitamin D as read the level needed in pregnancy is actually around 1000-2000iu not 400 which most prenatals have!

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 19:00

Oh and omega 3 😂

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 19:09

@Wouldloveanother but 16dpo is only 2w2d on that test then I think so I’ve got at least 5 days until I can get the 3+ I think? I’m going to buy a couple for next week!

mummatara · 18/08/2022 19:26

God I'm having a wobbly day today the urge to POAS was so strong I was going to go into the pharmacy and buy more pregnancy tests. I managed to resist and drive straight past but I very nearly stopped. I also went to book myself in for a blood test but literally I just don't think I can justify the price of two tests when I have no reason other than my mind playing horrible dirty anxious tricks on me

AliceinSlumberland · 18/08/2022 19:37

@Skylark1990 I didn’t know that, I’ve just read the study, good to know.

I’m not sure what to do with my supplements. I take a supplement for pcos which already contains 400 folic acid, so I’m worried if I take a prenatal on top it’ll be too much folic acid?

@B1993 welcome to the thread! Sorry your sleep is rubbish too! I totally did not realise it can affect your sleep but here we are!

@mummatara I just want to say I completely relate. I’ve really struggled with anxiety this week to the point that I took a clear blue at 4am this morning. I keep thinking about my early scan and imagining them telling me there’s nothing to see. I had a word with myself this morning as it’s not going to change the outcome so I’m not testing anymore. Im trying to distract myself in the moment, not let myself google things and distract myself by reading or keeping busy. It’s hard though and I completely understand how you feel.

Lapin387 · 18/08/2022 17:44

@B1993 folic acid tablets and snaffling the kids’ peppa pig vit d gummies when I haven’t had any sun exposure. I hate swallowing the massive pregnancy specific ones.

@B1993 Boots do an own brand "Folic Acid + Vit D" 2-in-1 that I take, tablets are the same size as folic acid ones so not massive. I tried different brands of multi vits when pregnant with DC1 and they totally disagreed with my digestion so I just stuck to Folic and vitamin D and will do the same this time

B1993 · 18/08/2022 20:03

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies 🥰

@Skylark1990
If the Active Iron vitamins don’t get on with me, I’ll definitely give the ones you mentioned a try. That’s interesting about the folate. One of the reasons I decided to go with the aforementioned ones is because (if I remember rightly) they also have naturally occurring folate and iron and claim their version is absorbed x3 better.

I did a quick search of vit D as I hadn’t heard that before. NHS website says you need 10 micrograms a day and no more than 100. Apparently it’s found in a few foods (oily fish, eggs, red meat and added to some cereals) so hopefully I won’t need the additional supplement.

@AliceinSlumberland I’m hoping the sleep situation resolves itself 🤞🏻 and I can get some solid sleep soon! I remember when I had trouble sleeping in the third trimester with my first, someone telling me ‘it’s your body’s way of preparening you for when baby is here.’ I fully expect not to get sleep with a newborn which is why I want my body to cooperate and let me sleep now!!

@mummatara I was a ball of nerves with my DS and my anxiety was through the roof. I know it doesn’t help but I hope it’s comforting to know that we all struggle with the rollercoaster of emotions that is pregnancy.

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 20:14

@Wouldloveanother @GlobetrottingPercy
My Maternity clothes didn't all make it back into the loft after DC1 either 🤭
I'm also SO bloated, my DC1 keeps trying to poke my belly back in 😱

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 20:15

@AliceinSlumberland another one struggling with wakefulness at night...and just when DC1 is beginning to sleep through 😭

bluebubbles12 · 18/08/2022 20:42

@DBS94 I have a huge phobia of blood tests too, not needles or injections, specifically blood tests. I literally cried and screamed my way through them in my last pregnancy, and all alone because it was 2020! I wish there was something I could say to take away the anxiety, but I'm as anxious in this pregnancy.

I was unlucky last time as I bled before I'd had my initial bloods done and I'm Rhesus negative, so it meant I needed blood tests every 4 weeks from 12 weeks. It was hell. Then to top it all off, I ended up having a blood transfusion after giving birth!!

I'm not saying this to scare you, I'm saying this to let you know that it's possible to get through it and it's all worth it. Think of it as you're doing it for the baby and that helps. I was also advised to let every single person know at every single appointment how terrified I was and they would get the most experienced person to do it. Be clear that you don't want a student/trainee. Also, make sure you drink before you go, as I learned the hard way last time that getting blood is so much harder when you're not hydrated. I'm here for the hand hold, but you can do it, you've got this!

RabbitJungle · 18/08/2022 20:44

Hi all, another newbie here 👋 I'm 5 weeks today, first pregnancy 😊 I've been mulling over whether or not to get an early scan and have decided I do want to. Those of you who have experience of this, when would you recommend going? Having read back through your chat, it sounds like 7 weeks would probably be okay - but it might make sense to wait until 8 weeks (if I can resist!)? I don't want to go too early and end up worrying...

B1993 · 18/08/2022 20:57

@RabbitJungle welcome 😊

I think 7 weeks is about standard for an early scan as you’re likely to see a heartbeat. I had an early scan with my last pregnancy at 6+2 and was able to see my DS’s heartbeat flicker away! 😍 It was done transvaginally though. Maybe they would have got a clearer shot abdominally if I was a bit further along. 🤔

mummatara · 18/08/2022 21:08

@AliceinSlumberland @B1993 thank you 💕 I've really tried to be ok and enjoy the moment. I was absolutely fine with my first DS in the blissful ignorance of it all but lost my second at 10 weeks so my emotions and anxiety about it being ok are reaching sky limits. I took my last line test that was in the house 5 days ago and it was lovely and strong I said to myself I won't do anymore because theres none in the house to do. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel better about it but man today has been hard. I've got one digi left that I wanted to do next week but at this rate I'll be wasting it before the weekend 🙈

AliceinSlumberland · 18/08/2022 21:22

@mummatara I don’t know if it helps, and I’m rubbish at taking my own advice (as evident from my 4am testing), but my job is a psychologist that works with kids primarily but anyway, the research suggests that if you’re anxious, and do something to reduce that anxiety instantly like not go to a social event if you’re socially anxious for example, or in our case take a pregnancy test to reduce that anxiety, although it reduces the anxiety instantly in that moment, the anxiety afterwards actually rises to a higher level than it was before you took the test. Over time, doing these things actually increases our anxiety so we try and do them more and more, seeking out that reduction again. I’ve put in a graph below which shows it better than I can explain it!

We tell parents of anxious children to acknowledge the anxiety, but show confidence that they can overcome it. So maybe we need to say to ourselves, I know I feel anxious, and that’s okay, but I also know I can feel anxious and not need to take a test. I can handle the anxiety.

I just wish I could listen to my own advice!!!

RabbitJungle · 18/08/2022 21:24

Thanks @B1993, good to know it would hopefully be possible to see positive signs at around 7 weeks, all being well 😊

AliceinSlumberland · 18/08/2022 21:24

@RabbitJungle Welcome and huge congratulations! I think 7 weeks is a good point generally to go, just be aware that if you have longer than average cycles sometimes you can be slightly less further on than you expect and not to be surprised by that :)

mummatara · 18/08/2022 21:28

@AliceinSlumberland oh wow that's really interesting and makes very good sense. Also I think you explain it very well ❤️ I'll see if I can beat the beast and not do a test 💪🏼 honestly it can't be any good for stress levels can it 🙄 why do we do it to ourselves. I wouldn't mind I know I'm pregnant I've had heartburn every day since 6DPO and today at 5+1 I've felt sick and I've never felt sick this early so I should be very happy 😂

RabbitJungle · 18/08/2022 22:09

Hey @AliceinSlumberland, I had only one cycle before falling pregnant and it was 24 days. But it's a really good point, thank you for flagging as something to consider - maybe it's safer to hold out until 8 weeks, to be safe :)

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 22:26

@AliceinSlumberland thanks so much for sharing that! That’s so interesting!

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 22:31

@AliceinSlumberland I think I needed to read your words about reducing anxieties this evening - also going through an anxious slump, bought 2 pregnancy tests today even though I've already still got 2 in the bathroom cupboard 🙈 I haven't done them yet though, I have managed to hold off.

KilledAnotherPlant · 19/08/2022 00:01

Hi everyone
Just joining the thread today. Due April 25th after miscarriage in Feb so hoping this one sticks. Only just started testing positive on Monday so no symptoms yet. First symptom last time was sore boobs quite early on so keep grabbing my boobs randomly through the day to check. Must look pretty weird….

Anyone planning an early scan?

AliceinSlumberland · 19/08/2022 06:23

Ah I’m glad it was a bit helpful, this anxiety really is shit though isn’t it.

5 weeks for me today yay! Celebrating every milestone haha. 5w5days according to my last period but I know that’s wrong. Massively early start for me today, up at 4am to take my husband to the airport. Definitely going to need a nap this afternoon!

@KilledAnotherPlant hahaha I’ve definitely been doing the boob squeezing! Yes I’ve got a scan booked for 7w1day.

Marshmallowmountain · 19/08/2022 06:41

@KilledAnotherPlant im 4w3 day today. I’ve got another HCG test today and if that number is heading in the right direction I’ll book an early scan for 7w1d

mummatara · 19/08/2022 06:44

@KilledAnotherPlant congrats I've got a scan booked in for 8+3 because we're on holiday that little extra wait it is going to kill me 😂

@AliceinSlumberland oh your def going to need a nap 😂 my lmp puts me at 5+5 too but I know it's not true I'm 3 days behind it
