Oooh okay I’ve never used those, I’ve always been a FRER user! I’m 4w2d today so in theory on Tuesday I should be able to get a 3+?

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 14:52

@Wouldloveanother i feel the same. I’m soo bloated and I feel so tired. I’m only 4w2d but last night went to bed at 10 and woke up at 8 this morning and I’m still knackered.

If you’re 4w2d then you’re something like 16 days past conception. Do you could possibly get a 3+ then but it isn’t uncommon for it to take a bit longer, like 23/24 days seems to be quite normal.

Longbin · 18/08/2022 14:54

@Marshmallowmountain you might be able to, but often it still shows 2-3 until you're a couple of days over

alwaysseeingstars · 18/08/2022 15:09

@Wouldloveanother definitely with you on the tiredness/brain fog - I cannot concentrate on work or anything today and just find myself staring mindlessly into space - very unlike me!!

mummatara · 18/08/2022 15:14

I'm struggling to function today too I'm so so tired and I'm over working this week 🙈 prob doesn't help I'm going on holiday next week 😂 so I'm thinking about everything I need to do and pack and I can't quite get my brain on the office work

DBS94 · 18/08/2022 15:41

Thanks for all your low caffeine recommendations, I feel like there's always something new to think about and consider 😂

What are your ladies opinions on calling my GP and asking them if they'll do some of my blood tests early? I'm booked in for my 8 week appointment with the midwife (in two weeks time) but I have a severe phobia of getting my bloods taken and I've been warned that they need a few samples for different things, the more I think about it the more unwell I'm feeling about it and really losing sleep over it. The thought of potentially having morning sickness on top of that is really stressing me out! Do you think GP would be open to carrying out some tests before then? IE the HIV/Hep B one?

Lapin387 · 18/08/2022 16:27

@DBS94 don’t you want to have screening though at 12 weeks? That includes blood tests and can’t be done earlier. Better to have all done together then, than to have a few done now and then another lot then? Sorry you feel so anxious about it. Maybe speak to gp about the anxiety, as some cbt etc might help . Unfortunately it isn’t rare to need blood tests/cannulas etc in pregnancy/labour, so would be helpful to tackle the anxiety x

Wouldloveanother · 18/08/2022 16:46

I know this sounds ridiculous but I’m thinking of getting my maternity clothes down the from the loft and washing them. I’m so bloated, drinking loads but not weeing much so I’m holding on to all the water - it was the same with Dd. I can’t bear tight waistbands and tend to live in jeans when not pregnant that I am now having to leave the button open to fit into 🤯 my maternity things are all so stretchy and comfortable! If I follow the same pattern as last time the bloating will settle at around 10 weeks then I have a happy few months before the bump starts to pop. I would just feel a bit silly walking around in maternity wear at 6 weeks!

Lapin387 · 18/08/2022 16:55

@Wouldloveanother I am so bloated too, I feel disgusting 😳. I am just wearing dresses, but definitely feel self conscious of my abdomen. I suppose I’ll go straight from bloating to bump given it’s my third? I am very petite so it really shows on me just now. I go back to work in a couple of weeks and feel a bit embarrassed that people will just see me and guess straight away.

mummatara · 18/08/2022 17:08

@Wouldloveanother don't feel silly I've chucked on my mat leggings or a dress because omg I can't stand anything tight you've gotta be comfortable

Longbin · 18/08/2022 17:14

@Wouldloveanother I've just packed up all my tight clothes to switch for my maternity stuff. My stomach is so bloated I'm genuinely the size I was at 6 months pregnant. I feel and look awful 😂

GlobetrottingPercy · 18/08/2022 17:14

For me to get the maternity clothes down from the loft would mean that I actually stopped wearing some of them and put them away up there…… which of course I did 😉 the maternity leggings and pyjamas were just so comfy that I couldn’t give them up but I did draw the line at the jeans. I’m so bloated that I can’t do the button up on my jeans either.

Managed to avoid fast food by having a cheese toastie at home with an apple and a caffeine free Pepsi max, you know it’s bad when you congratulate yourself for being strong enough not to go to the drive thru!

@DBS94 my midwife last time said they they were optional and so it’s worth asking if you can move the date to ease your anxiety? Every trust is different but always worth asking the question.

B1993 · 18/08/2022 17:30

@Wouldloveanother My bloat is terrible! I couldn't help but notice when I had my costume on for DS's swimming lesson!

On another note, what pregancy vitamins is everyone taking? For my last pregnancy I only ever took Pregnacare Max. I had a bit of an issue with the iron in it and it did not agree with my digestive system! I've looked into the Active Iron Pregnancy Plus and ordered a box but it's £25 a month! Has anyone else used them? They get amazing reviews so hopefully they'll be ok but would love to hear from anyone who has tried them before.

AliceinSlumberland · 18/08/2022 17:40

I feel bloated and just big round my tummy definitely, I’ve got a wedding to go to when I’m around 8 weeks and my dress is fairly fitted around the tummy, that might need a rethink!!

Is 5 weeks too early for cravings? I feel like I have this hungover feeling and all I want is fruity stuff, juicy things like melons and peaches and also fruity drinks!

Boobs are definitely less sore, hope that’s not a bad sign. Was with my mum all day who doesn’t know yet and was very aware that I started yawning constantly at around 2pm!!

AliceinSlumberland · 18/08/2022 17:41

Also my sleep is rubbish - I wake up loads and often can’t get back to sleep! Then I’m tired and want to go to bed by 8pm! Anyone else the same?

Lapin387 · 18/08/2022 17:44

@B1993 folic acid tablets and snaffling the kids’ peppa pig vit d gummies when I haven’t had any sun exposure. I hate swallowing the massive pregnancy specific ones.

Beccah1610 · 18/08/2022 17:45

Hi everyone 😊 just joining. Hope you are all well x

chillichillioil · 18/08/2022 17:46

@Skylark1990 oh an hour away is quite far isn't it. I guess you've just gotta do what you feel will make you feel more reassured and go from there. Please keep me updated after your scans!

I say I won't get another one after next week, but I probably will 😂 OH will kill me but he's not the one who has to feel every twinge and pain and panic xxx

B1993 · 18/08/2022 18:03

@AliceinSlumberland Yes to no not getting any sleep! Last night I woke up about 2:30 and went to the loo. I couldn't get back to sleep for ages and as soon as I did (or at least it felt like that) DS jumped into our bed for a cuddle. He nodded off but I was wide awake again and by the time I got back to sleep, it was up! 😩

@Beccah1610 I'm new to the thread too 😊 Congratuons in your pregancy from another newbie. How far along are you? How are you feeling?

@Lapin387 I had a bit of a chuckle at that 😂 I'm not too bad at taking tablets so the size doesn't bother me too much.

alwaysseeingstars · 18/08/2022 18:08

@B1993 I was recommended those by my GP - Holland & Barrett had them buy one get one free a couple of weeks ago? Might be worth a look!

hotelp · 18/08/2022 18:12

Just a heads up to anyone here that RCOG advises increased folic acid dose if BMI over 30. There might be caveats to that (discuss with doctor- the higher dose has to be prescribed so need to talk to them anyway) but I don't think it's known widely enough and lots don't find out until seeing midwife at 8 weeks.

Beccah1610 · 18/08/2022 18:19

Congratulations on your pregnancy too ❤️ I’m 4 weeks and 5 days today. How far are you? I’ve been feeling quite sick and very bloated so far haha have you had many symptoms?x

B1993 · 18/08/2022 18:39

@alwaysseeingstars They must be good if GPs to recommend them! I'll definitely have a look on H&B - thank you 😊 I ordered from Amazon this time, just so I could get them quickly.

@Beccah1610 I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow! Even though it's very early, I've had a bit of nausea, definitely noticed some MAJOR bloating today and have had cramping and twinges everyday too! With my DS, the entire pregnancy was pretty much symptomless so I was expecting the same this time around, but this baby must really want me to know it's there 🥰

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 18:57

@B1993 welcome! I'm taking terra nova prenatal vitamins, they're using about £20 on Amazon but sometimes on special, but you get 100 in the pack and you take two a day so not bad value! They're really good as it's all good grown nutrients and recommended levels, natural version of folate (easier to absorb than folic Acid so is superior form of the same vitamin) and they have the form of iron that doesn't constipated. I took them with DD too. The capsules aren't huge. I also took cytoplan Pregna-plan while TTC some months that's about £16 for one month. Also good and naturally sourced!

Re folic acid levels, there has been a study to suggest a link between autism and v high levels of folic acid and b 12 in pregnancy so just wanted to mention as good to be aware of these things 😊 I think folate is better if taking higher doses as doesn't accumulate in the body as much I don't think but I'm not an expert! And the study was very preliminary. @hotelp

I had some strong nausea this afternoon. Felt like I was going to spew a couple times! But luckily subsided and now I've managed to make dinner
