Lots of early scans being booked..

I am 6 weeks today and I weirdly don't feel pregnant. I had sore boobs and a hangovery feeling but the last 2 days I've felt my normal self. My 1st pregnancy i had hyperemesis and was so sick so its strange that i have none. I can't help but worry but I think I'm too early for a scan now and I don't think we can really afford it anyway at 90 pounds in my area.
I just want to feel more symptoms (not that I want to experience hypemesis again!!!!)

@AliceinSlumberland thank you for your words re anxiety. Its helped me not run to the pharmacy to buy more tests!

Wisher88 · 19/08/2022 07:13

Hi everyone ☺️

I got my BFP a few days ago, so currently just over 4 weeks. It's my first pregnancy since having a chemical (4 weeks 3 days) last year so I'm super nervous.
I've noticed a difference in symptoms, they definitely feel more intense and earlier, particularly with soreness to breasts. I also feel like my breasts are five degrees hotter than everywhere else 😂 never got that last time, is that normal? If it progresses, then after the weekend it'll be then longer than the previous. It's taken so long to get pregnant again so I'm super nervous and trying not to get excited until I've seen a heartbeat!
Last time we booked an early scan within days of BFP so I'm definitely going to wait until six weeks to book one just in case!
I've ordered some strip tests so I can see the line getting darker hopefully!

Hi, I’m new on the thread is it ok to join?

Done a digital today, and confirmed dates I have are correct. I’m 4 weeks 2 days according to my app and digital is saying 2-3! I was worried it was saying less but read the packet and says it dates from conception and not last period…so makes sense!
Still worried until I go for my early scan on 10th September!
Congratulations to all the ladies!

Ive tried to read through quickly this morning so apologies if I missed any important updates. @CinderellaFant hopefully your bleeding has settled.

I’ve been avoiding the thread a little this past week until my viability scan. Todays the day 7+1 - my scan is at 10:30am and if I’m honest I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it. I think I’ve a wall up. But anyhow hope everyone is doing well and I will update with scan results later!

ncbn1 · 19/08/2022 08:01

Any advice regarding nausea? I’ve had waves of it over the past week, yesterday was sick for the first time and this morning I’m really struggling. I sort of have a phobia of sick and I thought eating might settle my stomach but nope 😂

Need some reassurance if that's ok, having a bit of a wobble today. I'm 5+4 and my clear blue digital is still saying 2-3 weeks and my FRER isnt getting darker than this, is this normal? Am I over thinking

@Ginmonkey84 good luck lovely let us know ✨✨❤️

Sunnyxo · 19/08/2022 08:19

Hey @xttcbabyno1x I think that's a dye stealer! And as dark it may get, the digital is from conception so sounds bang on for the weeks 😊

That's a great dye stealer! Your test line is stronger than the control line - that's great! 💫

xttcbabyno1x · 19/08/2022 08:23

@Sunnyxo @Margo34 oh thank you both so much I must be over thinking it and you've both calmed me down so thank you so much ❤️❤️☺️ xx

Margo34 · 19/08/2022 08:27

Did my first Digi HPT of this pregnancy and got 3+ this morning (at 5w+4 since LMP, no idea when I ovulated). I've never had a dye stealer though and I'm not going to do any more tests now however much I'd like a dye stealer - feels like a dye stealer is a school A* grade and a strong positive is a A grade so I'm happy with that. 😂🙈🌈💫

AliceinSlumberland · 19/08/2022 08:27

@xttcbabyno1x gorgeous dye stealer, definitely time to stop testing. I saw a thing where a woman took two of those and they looked identical as both dye stealers but her HCG was like 1000s higher!!

@Ginmonkey84 everything crossed for you today x

alwaysseeingstars · 19/08/2022 08:31

Congrats to all the new joiners!
@Ginmonkey84 Good luck for today 😊

Does anybody else on here have asthma? Ever since getting pregnant my asthma has been getting slowly worse, and the past few days my inhalers have been leaving me with a horrible shakey feeling for a couple of hours - only way I can describe the feeling is like a sugar low!

Skylark1990 · 19/08/2022 08:31

So much to catch up on! Thanks so much @AliceinSlumberland for the anxiety chart and advice, definitely makes sense. I get thought loops sometimes and it's similar if I try to rationalise the irrational fear it helps for a bit then it's worse and comes straight back. Have to just sit with it and let it be. So hard!

Re folic acid supplements, I'm not sure what would be best... I think the most important vitamins for pregnancy are folate / folic acid and vitamin D so if you're already getting the folic acid you could just take a vitamin D separately? But otherwise taking a prenatal would probably be fine too, and you could get your folic acid levels checked maybe? I actually had mine checked at the recurrent miscarriage clinic and they came back quite high which makes sense as I'd been taking 600-800 while TTC not 400 haha so went back to just 400. They weren't too high tho, just higher edge of normal. Also you could get a prenatal that you take in two capsules - the one I have you take two, it's called Terra Nova - for the full dose but just take one so you're getting only 200 mg of the folate - but then you'd probably have to take an extra vitamin D too. Also if you take the naturally forming folate on top of your folic acid supplement this might be better if you do end up taking the full dose. Anyway, I'm sure whatever you decide it'll be absolutely fine! 😊

Re vitamin D, yes NHS advice says 10mcg / 400 iu should be enough but there have been studies to show higher levels can prevent mc and preterm birth. I think a dose of 25mcg/1000iu is optimal for this or even 50/2000. But ofc we can get it through diet and sunlight too, although diet is harder if unable to eat anything but toast!

@mummatara
Hope you've managed to resist the tests! I did my last Digi on Wednesday and similarly wanted to do a cheapie yesterday but stopped myself as I just don't want that stress if it does come back lighter than expected ... So easy to just quickly do one tho as I still have loads including one frer!

Skylark1990 · 19/08/2022 08:35

Good luck today @Ginmonkey84 !
Congrats on the 3+ @Margo34 ! Dye stealers are overrated haha
In saying that tho @xttcbabyno1x absolutely gorgeous dye stealer, nothing to worry about there!! 😍

Welcome to the newbies 💞

My DH made me tea and avo toast this morning in bed which was so nice! Felt really sick this morning and last night. I actually haven't been able to eat the avo toast yet but had a bowl of special k instead 😂 might be able to eat it shortly...

Is anyone else into astrology? I've been looking at the ephemeris to see what sort of star chart our April babies will have! Aries obviously, and I think Taurus mercury, Gemini Venus and cancer mars around the time due (12 April) but it changes throughout...

Catkinder · 19/08/2022 08:36

Hi, just wanted to say that autism isn't 'caused' by anything.

There are studies suggesting folic acid reduces the chances of autism and studies saying the opposite. This review of every study suggests we need more research, so please don't panic
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8394938/.

There are lots of studies exploring possible causes of autism but the reality is that nobody knows for sure. Autism is different for everyone and takes many many different forms.

I am sure we are all doing the best for our babies and pregnancies, but please don't panic that you will 'give' your baby autism because it's not something we can control.

xttcbabyno1x · 19/08/2022 08:36

@AliceinSlumberland thank you I will stop testing now ☺️ though I will do a digital next week to hopefully see 3+ ! Thanks so much for calming me down haha ☺️ xx

KilledAnotherPlant · 19/08/2022 08:37

@Ginmonkey84 good luck for today let us know how it goes.

The scans are expensive here too in SW LDN I’m not booking one just yet but think I probably will. We travelled a bit for our last one to get a slightly cheaper deal and the place was just awful. Like tragic. On our second scan they had no running water and the wait was so long I had to pee and refill 😂 so won’t be going back there!

Skylark1990 · 19/08/2022 08:42

@Catkinder Just want to say, good idea to mention this and you're right there is no reason to panic about it. You're right no one knows how or what causes autism exactly, most likely it's determined by genetics largely with some environmental factors having an affect too.

Just to clarify, I didn't say that excess folic acid and b 12 causes autism, I said there has been a study that links it with autism, but that the study is very preliminary and was limited, so like you say, there needs to be more research before anyone can say for certain. Also the study I'm referring to cited majorly excessive levels, ofc a good healthy level of both these is important for pregnancy and has actually like you say been shown to reduce the chances too. A prenatal with both is a good thing to take.

Personally I like to be aware of these sorts of things but you're right we shouldn't worry about it as it's not conclusive 😊

CinderellaFant · 19/08/2022 08:48

@Ginmonkey84 thanks for thinking of me. Still bleeding unfortunately, and pregnancy symptoms are disappearing 😩

Squareroundabout · 19/08/2022 08:57

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster! I'm 7w+1, but feeling very anxious.
I had some nausea last week (with a day mainly on the sofa at the weekend!) but have been feeling steadily better this week... Less tired, boobs less sore, etc. Still got some food aversions, but basically it and currently feel pretty much fine. I have an early scan booked in privately next Thurs (not because of medical reasons, just anxiety - I like to worry and I'm 35 so odds are higher!), but I'm just concerned lack of symptoms means something?
I know logically things come and go but it's hard not to read into things... I've had cramping on and off since I discovered bfp at 4w, but no spotting (touch wood).

What is everyone else's experience? I was thinking of calling the hosp to get some advice from a midwife, but equally worried that I'm just overthinking it as it's a first pregnancy.... Thanks.

Longbin · 19/08/2022 09:00

@Squareroundabout I've been feeling much less sick since the start of the week and I'm 7 weeks. I remember having this with my first at about 9 weeks when it's meant to peak. I am also a bit nervous but trying to remember it's probably fine!

Catkinder · 19/08/2022 09:19

@Skylark1990 absolutely, thank you for clarifying and replying. It's such an anxious time already, so no doubt we are all just trying to do our best for our little ones.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 19/08/2022 09:23

I had a scan today 7+, bad news sadly, no heartbeat or growth from week 5. I'm off to feel sorry for myself and drink a little wine this evening. Wishing you all the best of luck ❤️

hotelp · 19/08/2022 09:26

@Skylark1990 interesting link- thanks. I'm not personally convinced by it, in comparison to the evidence behind supplementation to prevent neural tube defects - but this probably isn't the thread for this.

As I originally said, it's probably best that those with risk factors (including BMI over 30) meaning they may benefit from higher dose folic acid talk with their doctor about the right choice for them.
